Hoffmantown Shoe and Boot Repair has been a go to for what seems like forever. Always dependable, quality and on-time.

Dropped off one shoe and I sandal, Shoe needed about an inch of stitching replaced and the sandal needed a grommet. Was quoted $20. A couple months later, they texted me and when I got to the shop, the shoes had one inch of white stitching while the rest of the shoe had dark blue stitiching. When I asked about the sandal, he hadn't started it because he didn't have time to get a grommet. He asked for $20 and I gave him $10. Real nice guy but real unorganized. I will go somewhere else in future and maybe the new place can match thread color and keep the orders straight. read more

Ok so i took leather flip flops to be repaired-the toe hold had come up and i wanted them back in. Firstly, I was told they'd be ready on a Saturday-i went in the following week, and not only were they not ready, there was a question about how they should be repaired. No one had called me to ask, instead they waited for me to show up, wasting my time and a trip. When they were finally ready, one was so poorly done - leaving a big lump that made me feel like i was walking on a rock, and breaking through the sole-that the shoe is not usable. Told him if he couldn't get them done by the next day at 1, then friday was fine. I get a call, 9 am next morning. Shoes are ready to go. They look good as new. I dropped off my brand new $300 purse to have the strap removed. I spoke with the owner and described in detail what I wanted, and actually had the new strap with me to show him. There were two o-rings with screws on the purse where the new strap would be attached. I specifically told him that if there was a problem with unscrewing the o-rings to let me know. When I picked up the purse, the owner wasn't there and a very grumpy employee who was a relative to the owner brought the purse to me. The o-rings were not on the purse and when I asked him about them he said that he had to break two of the screws to get it off. I told him that I speciafically said to the owner not to try to remove them if there was a problem. This very rude man yeld at me that he wasn't given those instructions and the owner wasn't there. I would never recommend this company to anyone for any repair reason. Besides having poor workmanship, they have terrible communication skills among themselves. read more

I've had some work done here and it made my shoe worse than before the supposed repair. Now, reluctantly, I returned with a pair of expensive leather boots that I have a problem with. The heels have strips of leather that when wet by rain peel away from the base material of the heel. I approached and asked for options. It was made obvious by the owner (previous owner's son) that the work could not be done. Asking questions seems to offend this poor excuse of a boot and shoe cobbler. When I said this was not the first time to his shop and had previous problems and that I should have expected poor service, he SCREAMED at me. No class, no patience, no skills. Things must have gone downhill in the 3 years since the other reviewer reviewed this place. The last 3 times I have been here for minor repairs, I have been told that it is not possible for Hoffmantown to do the repairs. One time I went in and they couldn't find my shoe, even though I had the claim ticket and the other shoe. I took in a new pair of shoes to be stretched and wore them next day and they appeared to have not been stretched at all. When I picked them up a 2nd guy had difficulty finding them. The first guy said I could have it stretched a second time if not satisfactory so I took them back. #2 guy was very offended I questioned if they had been stretched and insisted I wait while I witnessed him put the stretcher in the shoes. Also said you should have put them on when you first got them home. I explained would have been good to know that but his rude behavior never lessened. Maybe he doesnt care about having repeat business. I see other reports of rude behavior so wish I read yelp first before taking my shoes there. read more

I'm looking for another boot shop because of my experience here. I couple years ago (yes, you read that right) I brought in several pair of shoes that I had been holding onto for repair. Most importantly I needed a pair of old cowboy boots resoled and for a nail that was popping up in the heel bed to be tapped down. You can't wear boots that literally slice your feet up. I also brought in a pair of Bass oxfords that needed new heels, a pair of Max Studio wedges that needed a strap sewn back in, easy peasy, some Stewart Weitzman's that needed new caps attached to the heels, a pair of my room mate's platforms that needed a heel glued, and Caterpillar lace up boots that needed new front soles and heels. I have not worn the cowboy boots since picking them up from the shop. Not only did they NOT polish the boots, a customary bonus service when paying for a resole, but they stained my RED cowboy boots with black polish, how, I have no idea. The 'new' heals on my oxfords looked like a dog chewed them, the nail in the boot heel was never even touched, and my combat boots got new heels but no front sole. To be fair, the simplest tasks were done just fine. The strap was sewn in well on my wedges, the Weiztman's got new heel caps, and me friend's platform heel stayed put. Now, to be fair, AGAIN, I should have, at the moment I picked them up, refused to pay for such shoddy service and I should have pointed out and expressed my dissatisfaction then. But I hate confrontation and I think I was so stoked about my wedges being fixed that I just paid and ran out with everything. Lessons learned. Don't go to Hoffmantown Repair with anything you really love. And don't pay for poor service. You'll thank yourself later. One might ask, why I would write a poor review so long after the experience. Well, obviously it has stuck with me. I just don't even know how a repair shop could offer a customer her possessions back in the state they were in. If they thought it reasonable to hand back work that was incomplete, shoes that were damaged, and repairs that looked worse than the original problem, I don't think they are much concerned with their customers or their business and don't expect they would have done much to resolve me dissatisfaction in the first place. Save yourself the hassle. There are so many good boot shops in Burque. Don't waste your time or trust your belongings with this one. read more

Outstanding. Took in an old, well broken in pair of boots that were nearly at the "oh god I need new boots" point-scuffed, a bit of a tear in the leather on one toe, worn out heels. I've had (and loved) these boots for nearly 8 years. They promised them back by today (8/14). I picked them up this afternoon. My hope was the boots would be "wearable" again-even if not wearable enough to look professional. After all a good pair of boots is expensive! When I picked them up-they looked almost as good as new. They were cleaned, polished, the scuffs were gone, the tear was doctored, the heels were new. These are not just wearable but are back to looking dressy! I could NOT be more pleased. And the entire cost was under 30 dollars-80 or 90 percent less than what I would have paid to buy new ones. I HIGHLY recommend if you have an old pair of boots or shoes that you love but that could use some refurbishing that you take them to Hoffmantown. I actually live in Virginia, but come to Albuquerque on a regular basis. I needed new soles on my work boots, and dropped them off before Thanksgiving. I knew that I would not be back until a few days before Christmas, but the shop repairman assured me this would not be a problem. And in fact the boots were ready when I arrived to pick them up, The new soles cost $60, and the work was well done. Shortly after writing the review above, the glue holding the new sole onto the boot failed and it began to flap like a flag in a hurricane. Fortunately I repaired the loose soles with "Goop," and they have held up ever since. read more

The work was sloppy- had a zipper replaced on a pair of boots and the stitching was sloppy and made it impossible for me to take the boots elsewhere and have the zipper replaced properly. There were strings hanging off, the new zipper was slightly crimped in places and the new stitches are so noticeable it does not match at all. The price was mediocre and the customer service was not so good- not super friendly and lacked the ability to inform me of other services available. The business needs venting desperately- it reeks of chemicals. This was also the first time I have had a pair of boots or shoes repaired and returned without even a moderate buffing or cleaning up. read more

My wife and I took a motorcycle boot in to have the zipper replaced, which they had replaced before but the plastic zippers dont last. So the son of the owner said they only do metal now, $20, which is what I wanted anyway. So my wife picks up the boot a week later, and the new zipper is plastic. This shop misrepresents its product, and trying to get your money back is a waste of effort. The dad will play dumb while the son hides in the back, or vise versa. I've brought three pairs of leather dress shoes here for repairs over the past few years and have been nothing but happy with the results. The last pair that they did for me were in such bad shape that I expected them to tell me they couldn't be fixed. No issue at all. They're more comfortable now than they've ever been. My daughter has a short leg, necessitating a lift on one of her shoes. We took one shoe in about six months ago, and were charged approximately $100.00. Recently, when my wife went to pick up a second shoe, we were charged $225.00 with no advanced notice that "prices have gone up."
