Cortes is one of the top four most flavorful taco trucks in merced I've tried imo, if you want authentic, the good kind of greasy but not gamey, not too grissley , with perfectly cooked tortillas! This truck is neck and neck with tacos Hidalgo on east main for flavor and perfectly cooked tortillas . Also competing with mariscos de Sinaloa near chevron, but I would say cortes is better for asada at least. During covid however, they are not wearing masks and neither are their customers, even though they have a sign that says to, they do not enforce it. Best taco truck in the 209, hands down! Their burrito supremes are the best things EVER. Their salsa is out of this world, spicy but not too spicy- just right. Sour cream and cheese combo is on a whole new level (on the burrito supreme). Their only down fall, is that they don't have horchata. BUT they have Jarritos! Good customer service and relatively cheap. The wait can be a little tedious depending on the time of day but the food is worth it. Tonight I got overcharged on my order by $2. Normally I wouldn't think much of it because cmon it's only $2. It's ok, people make mistakes. But thinking back on how my whole ordering situation went I have a feeling she purposely charged me extra. After ordering two supreme carne asada burritos, 4 supreme carne asada tacos and 1 supreme al pastor taco my order should have came out to $24. I was about to pay and she said i can pay later. I thought that was strange as I always had to pay right after I ordered. When my order was ready, I went to go pick it up and she said I ordered two burritos and 6 tacos which would cost $26. I thought that was strange and maybe I made a mistake. Came home and I was right all along. Not sure why she made me pay later when I saw other customers pay after they ordered as well. Anyways, tacos were ok. The burritos were better. But, I would rather go to Hidalgo taco truck. Just be aware of how much you order and what the total is. I feel scammed. One of the older ladies that worked here rolled her eyes after everything I said in response to her statements.
