I'm a property manager writing this for a tenant what wishes to be anonymous. They hired Cory's for some yard help late last summer when the tenant had some health issues that physically impacted them and they fell behind on yard upkeep. On that initial visit, Cory's sent 4-5 people and they did a good job. They pulled the overgrown weeds, raked up, got the yard tidy & cleaned up. Fast forward to this spring, Cory's sent 2 people, they didn't pull ANYTHING, just sprayed weed killer - even on the emerging daffodil & tiger lillies which are now dead. So they're left with a yard of dried, dying weeds and debris for the same rate as their prior visit. So, they put their best foot forward initially then barely phoned it in for the follow up. Of course, my tenants aren't willing to continue with them but are still left with a messy yard they paid to have weeded and cleaned. read more

​I have used this company in the past and enjoyed their service, but I am writing this to warn others about their business practices regarding work authorization. ​On May 15th, I hired them for a 1-hour sprinkler service. Because they didn't have my garage code, they were unable to complete the job and left. I later received an email (attached) that was poorly laid out and very difficult to read. While I take responsibility for missing that fine print, I find that policy entirely unacceptable for a service of this magnitude. ​As this is the first time I have ever used a lawn care company, I was initially unsure if this was standard industry practice, but after this experience, I have learned that it is certainly not the norm to authorize thousands of dollars in work without explicit client consent. ​I received an invitation for a repair on May 22nd, which I assumed was for the original 1-hour service now that they had access to the garage code. Instead, I returned home to find my yard dug up. When I asked the technicians how long they had been there, they told me they had been working for 3 hours. They also stated they were given two options--a 3-hour job or a 5-hour job--and they simply chose to perform the 5-hour, more expensive job. ​Without any direct communication, they took it upon themselves to perform thousands of dollars worth of work. When I spoke to the office, I asked: what if I had been in the hospital or otherwise unable to email? Would they perform thousands of dollars of work and then go after me or my family for payment? The representative had no answer. ​When I followed up, the company claimed I was "stuck with the bill" because they have a recording of me saying "yes" to getting my system "up and running." They are twisting a vague, previous conversation into an open-ended authorization for them to do whatever work they want and charge me any amount. I have formally requested a copy of this alleged recording, as "getting my system up and running" (when it was already functioning) is not a blank check. ​Also, I was told a General Manager would call me, but instead, I received a call from the same representative who continued to defend this behavior. I am extremely disappointed by their lack of transparency, their refusal to escalate the issue to leadership, and their attempt to use vague language to justify thousands of dollars in unauthorized charges. I would urge anyone else considering this company to be extremely cautious. read more

I have used Cory's lawn service for several summers. Unfortunately this will be my last one. Long story short I requested irrigation repair for my drip system, on top of my usual irrigation turn on and aeration and yard clean up. I submitted this request two months ago an we are still having issues getting the correct services done. The company came out to do my water turn on a month and an half ago and required a repair for the valve system which I happily agreed to having done. The company then took several weeks to get that service scheduled and completed. While they were out, they did not tend to the drip system as requested and decided to recommend service for changing out my timer box. I did not agree nor ask for my box to be changed out. The company showed up two days ago to do repairs to which I thought my drip system was finally being taken care of. Instead of servicing, my drip system I come to find out they changed my timer box and expect me to pay for that service. After talking department about this mistake, they informed me that due to them recommending the service and fulfilling it that I had to pay for it. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you go to a mechanic and they recommend service on your car, they have to wait for your approval to complete the service. On top of this mess, the repaired that they did do to the irrigation system is now leaking. So if you're looking for service that doesn't deliver and makes you feel like a number in a queue this company is for you. Really a bummer when a company gets big and decides to not take care of there returning customer. read more

It took us one week to get a quote, two weeks to get on their schedule, then they were a no-show with no call. They said they would be out the next week and they were a no show no call again. Wow, first off... AVOID THEIR SERVICE! I have been a customer with them for a few years now and they do the bare minimum. I do not "yelp" ever, but I felt like this deserved one. After being a customer for 3+ years, I have had the full experience. I have had them come out weekly for front yard up keep. The quality was sub-par. We have uneven patches of grass throughout the yard due to improper care, and I cannot tell you how many sprinklers I have had to replace myself because of their recklessness. This is just the start. Over a year ago, I installed a concrete patio and awning in which another company drove heavy machinery over our backyard grass. Almost every sprinkler head was busted in the process. I contacted Cory's Lawn Service to replace every single sprinkler head and stem as 8 out of the 9 of them were busted. They sent someone out, which took over a couple weeks, and they replaced only 5 of them. BUT, they charged me for all 9 of them. When I turned the sprinklers on, it liked like the Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas. I called to tell them to discuss how dissatisfied I was with their service. Eventually, after another couple weeks, they made it right. We kept using them as they were consistent with their scheduling. A year goes by and I call about winterizing our sprinklers. They had the audacity to tell me, the home owner, they refuse to do any services with me but would be willing to interact with someone else because of the last interaction I had with them. The interaction in which they only did 50% of what they charged me for. Unfortunately, because of their receptionist (Aubrey I believe is her name) they have lost a consistent on time paying customer forever. No fuss way to get the yard cleaned up before the spring. Was super easy to set up a service, get an appointment and get a quote for the services. Being able to set up an account and get my card online was also a big boost. I asked for a full cleanup of the yard and it was worth every penny. They took care of getting leaves cleaned up that were years old and some shrub trimming etc. I am excited for how good everything looks and it should make it easier to maintain for some time again as well. read more

We contacted Cory's to do a minor repair of our sprinkler system. What went well? The service person that showed up was able to identify and fix the problem and he was pleasant to communicate with. He had all the parts necessary to get the job done. The invoice at the end was clearly itemized and in-line with what we were quoted. What went not so well? From initial inquiry to hearing back it took several weeks. We had to follow up a couple times just to get a quote back. On the day of the service, they said they'd be here from 12-3 but the service person didn't show up until 6pm. My husband took the afternoon off work to be home for the 12-3 appointment so I'm frustrated that we never got a call or text/email just letting us know that they were delayed. When it came time for the repair, it took two attempts which isn't a big deal except for the fact that we had to wait for the glue to dry twice to validate that the leak was fixed. Mind you, they charge $139 per hour. I'm a little disappointed in this outcome. If I were the one doing the service, I would have given a heads up that I was running very behind so that the customer could accordingly plan their day. Stacking that with paying for extra hours of glue drying, I just feel a little disappointed (total time charged was 1.78 hours + parts and $30 fee, if fix worked the first time probably would have been 1-1.25 hours total which is a savings of $74). read more

I sent a text and got a text response back the next day. They asked for my name, address, email and phone number. They said I would have a quote within 24-48 hrs The next day, I just get an email with the services offered and the prices. I picked the flat fee clean up because my yard really needs some TLC to be honest. They said they would reach out to send someone by. I didn't hear anything from a real person to schedule I just got an email. I then wake up to a text asking me to put in my billing info to schedule a clean up Why would I put my billing info in and I never even got a call to set up a time for them to come out. I go out and give quotes a lot for my job. I truly understand not wanting to have to go to every house even when these generic emails work for most folks, but again my yard needs TLC and wanted a real price. I have their pre emergent service at several properties. I noticed one location was covered 100% with weeds. Every single inch was covered with weeds, which is highly atypical with this type of weed pre emergent application. I asked the tenant, and they told me that coreys lawn never came this year. I called coreys lawn to ask what can be done to remedy this problem. A supervisor told me he can offer me 25% off a weed package, with zero accountability for charging me over $500 for a service they never completed. I will be finding a more reputable company for lawn service in the future. Edited to add: it is wild that the company would respond and lie in their comment. I mixed them up with another vendor but i did ask the supervisor to confirm the $500 price and he did. But that was incorrect, but i did not have the information readily available because they do not email receipts when set up for automatic payment (which is also a strange business practice ). But the company responding with all these logs and times, and lying about the price is so strange and goes to show you they arent being truthful. They said it was $92. I had to call my bank to verify the amounts. Since it is two buildings on one lot they charged separately and the total was $249. But the price aside, they dont stand behind their work. read more

I live in Reno, NV. I hired Cory's lawn service because of the rating and feedback I read. Three men came in for three hours and trimmed my bushes, weedwacked my weeds which after three weeks grew back. They also redistributed my DG. The use of the weed wacker blew grass seeds into my DG which are now new weeds. One of the men took out the cage around my tomato plant and pulled the tomato plant out of the garden. Additionally, most of my drip lines were askew and no longer near the bushes. Lastly, one of the men with the weedwacker sliced through my drip hose spewing water. I've hired someone to repair my hose. The total for that project for three hours was $883. Is that the going rate? Does it sound fair? When I wrote all of this down in an email I never received an apology. That would have made things a little better. I think the men may have been in a rush and consequently were careless in their work. read more

Nicole, My review was more than fair, and that refund was due. We subsequently found out that there was a break in the sprinkler line, in addition to needing new solenoids. If your company would have taken the time to make sure that the sprinklers were working the way they were supposed to be working, this wouldn't have been an issue. When you guys send a technician out to check to make sure things are working yet they still don't do that, and I don't feel like an update would be necessary as I have paid a lot more to have my yard finally fixed. My back yard sprinkler system leaks and I need someone to repair it. So I Filled out their email form on a Sunday. Was emailed back early Monday morning stating their sales team would be with me soon. On one hand I was impressed by the speed of response, on the other I was wary of a "sales team" since I had a specific request. The next day I get an email with a "proposal" and it's just a pdf of their services and prices. They seriously put everything in there, none of which I requested, including the price for mowing my back yard. I have no idea why they can't just have that info on their website and I have no idea why it would take 2 days for the "sales team" to get back to me with just a list of services. It makes me feel like they want to seem bigger and busier than they are, or someone read a book that gave them terrible business advice or something. Because I just want someone to fix my sprinklers, not feel misled by processes put in place for posturing. All in all I wasted 48 hours waiting on their response to literally get a list of services. They may actually do great work but I didn't get that far because I was so put off by their response. Judging by the last few reviews placed, I'm not the only one that's annoyed by the way they choose to do business. I hope yall change it and focus more on customer service and less on goofy emails with welcome videos. read more

Do I live in an area where it's normal to see yard maintenance trucks everyday? No. Do I live in a house where I've let some basic yard maintenance go? Yes. I get the whole "weekend warrior" thing. I get that someone people like working on their yards. I don't belong to either of those two groups. I've done basic yard maintenance by myself for years and I just hate it. I recently was out of town for four months during the winter and I returned to a freaking jungle. There was nothing inside of me that wanted anything to do with the effort it would take to clean up that yard. So after kinda being ignored by other yelp/thumbtack/task rabbit requests for quotes, I chose to go with Cory's, even if it was more than I was expecting to spend. Being sort of late to start the season, it took a while to finally get an appointment. But, I'm glad I stuck out the waiting period instead of doing it myself. The overgrown hedge is a reasonable size now. I see the ground in areas I haven't in years. I was able to access the water and drain shutoffs to finally get my sprinklers going. I sat outside and enjoyed a decent looking patio. All of this work got done without me needing to be there (I was there and made sure the dog was inside when I heard their truck pull up, but still, kudos to them!) I already have additional service scheduled - weed management and sprinkler service. I never thought I'd be the one to pay for services I can do myself. But when being honest with myself, I don't want to do them, and I can afford to have someone to do it for me, so this was a major win in my book. read more

Because I can no longer do the work, I jumped through all the hoops this company puts you through: filled out the forms on line, watched the introduction vid. Called the office when I didn't get the promised response in the time they set. Replied to the email sent with the pick you package pricing. Sent credit card info to have work done. I should have heard Tuesday about service beginning but I'm still waiting for a real person to call or something to appear in the darn portal I had to set up. Meanwhile my weeds I wanted them to take care of grow and look really bad. I'm done. And no, I'd never recommend this company. read more
