I stopped by Cosmo Nail Bar for a manicure this week, and it was the best quality manicure I've had in ages. The wait wasn't long (but I was there in the early afternoon on a weekday on an icy, snowy day, when some people may still have been hunkered down indoors), but I'd recommend making a reservation, since they're not a large nail salon and didn't seem to have as many staff members as other nail salons. But it was clean and comfortable, and they were playing great music. My nails look great - shaped perfectly, painted carefully. They took their time to make sure my nails looked great. They were friendly, and they offer plenty of paint options (I had plenty of dip options to choose from). Really a good place for a mani or pedi. I'd be happy to return. read more

I came in for a gel mani pedi today, the mani was fine - my nails are a little weirdly shaped but they're my natural nails and they weren't all the exact same length so that's not their fault. The tech who did them was quiet but kind and the color is even which is wonderful for only using 2 coats! My disappointment is with the pedicure. *** EDIT, The owner messaged me and let me know to come in and they'd fix my nails. He took his time and got all the polish out from between my toe nails and the skin and did a wonderful job. I felt like they really cared and wanted to make sure my nails looked great for my friend's wedding. So glad they were able to fix the problem and get toes back on track! Changed to 5 read more

I walked in on a whim to see if I could get my nails done while I was in town for the afternoon. It took me over a year and at least 6 salons at home to find a place that would dip the white and pink, everyone wanted to paint the tip, so finding a place that did such a great job as a walk in is amazing. I have never had my nails done before. After searching for a salon in the Annapolis I found this one. Ask for Holly! I told her I was getting married and wanted something subtle. She chose a light pink base with a hint of fine sparkle and an ombré white dip. They're light, shaped well, and beautiful! They were $70. Like I said I don't get my nails done so I don't know how this price compares elsewhere but I don't mind paying for good work. Plan to park on a side street and walk a block or tIf you're looking for a place to do your wedding nails, Holly can nail it! UPDATE 7/26/23: I took a hiatus from getting my nails done and then recently return to a salon much closer to my home for convenience. $60 later, and a set of dip nails that were chipping a week later... Learned my lesson! I scheduled an appointment with Holly and she was able to get me in the same week. She is amazing at what she does and her service lasts for weeks. I came in for a new gel x set with a male manicurist a couple days ago and he didn't even clean up my cuticles or cut my current nails and took forever deciding on what size to use. I'm not sure if he is new to nails, but it took longer to get a gel x set than my normal acrylic sets. He was also overall quiet and when I was charged $80 for these I almost fell over and that's without a tip. they already have marks. Also they didn't touch the bottom of the nail and clean that up. I hadn't been to Kosmo Nail Bar for a few years after a bad experience. My friend wanted to go & I was willing to give it another shot. I was unfortunately disappointed again. While the staff was nice and they had fairly decent COVID safety measures (plexiglass), I ended up leaving convinced I would not go back. I got a pedicure and the nail technician was so rough with my feet when using the callus remover that I ended up get scratches that bled. I mentioned that the nail technician was being too rough and he looked at my foot and assured me it was fine. They're now starting to scab. Not only that, but my cuticles were cut too close and my one toe began to bleed. The nail technician put alcohol on to stop the bleeding, but it persisted for a bit. I had really hoped to have a better experience but unfortunately I did not. I understand salons are experiencing difficulties during these times, but no customer should be bleeding after a visit. I suggest the salon start taking phone numbers of clients in case there is a covid outbreak and contact tracing needs to be done. Other salons in the area are doing that practice and I believe Kosmo Nail Bar would benefit from incorporating it into their COVID procedure. read more

I spent over $200 here getting myself and my mother mani pedi's for our spring break vacay. Now I have to pay again to have them redone. Bottom Line: Friendly employees and a clean salon but plan for parking. I'm not really into getting my nails done but I've heard great things about Kosmo Nail Bar since moving to the area five years ago. When a friend of mine was visiting we decided that pedicures, cocktails and shopping were in order and based on Kosmo's reputation we set out for downtown Annapolis. We had appointments but on a Friday afternoon in the summer they weren't busy so they were able to take us early. Both girls that did our pedicures were friendly and thorough. The massaging spa pedicure chairs were just average but it seems this salon really focuses on service and cleanliness. We both just did "regular" OPI polish versus a gel or dip powdered polish. (For what it's worth, I hear dip powdered is awesome.) Almost every nail salon I've been too has tried to upsell me on gel or made me feel bad about my short, and sometimes ragged, fingernails. But Kosmo did neither and just focused on providing a nice experience and lasting pedicure which I fully appreciate. Because Kosmo is located in downtown Annapolis and doesn't have a private lot you do need to plan to find parking on the street, in the parking garage or in the metered lot. We easily found a spot in the garage and then walked about 1/4 mile to the salon. read more

This is now my spot! I called and made an appointment earlier in the week and got in for a dip appointment. I called as I was going to be 30 min late and it was no problem. The shop is gorgeous and well laid out, with pedicure stations in the center and the nail bar by the window. I met with Gary and he did a fabulous job! Took much more care and time with my nails than prior salons. We also had a great conversation around nail techniques, Annapolis and the like. The nails look fantastic and he asked for the shape I wanted rather than just assuming. I'm traveling for work for the next few weeks so it's great to have gotten my nails ready for work. I liked it at first, but over the 10 years this salon has existed its gone steadily downhill. Its not cleaned thoroughly (there was debris and accumulated dirt under the drying station showing clear signs its not deep cleaned periodically and someones used cup in front of my face). the tech tried but made the most enjoyable part of a pedicure painful. Stroking my feet like a male organ isn't pleasant. putting so much pressure on the front of my shins that it hurt and when i expressed this, diminishing the pressure to make it just un-enjoyable. read more

They just wanted us in and out as fast as possible. I made an appointment for two pedicures (me and my bf) at noon. Even though we got there early to make sure we got started at noon, they didnt see us until 20 minutes past. My pedicure was really quick. I had a decent amount of dead skin on the bottom of my foot to begin with and the lady barely exfoliated our feet so my foot has just as much peeling as it did when I walked in. At the end the lady told me my toenails were dry enough to put my socks and shoes on so I did and later I took off my shoes and socks to wear sandals and my toenails looked so bad. They are so messed up. I don't even have time to get them fixed for the next two weeks. All in all this place is not worth your money. I basically made an appointment and had to wait for them to do a poor job and rush me and my bf out. I get that they are busy, but if the quality of service is that poor then I will take my business elsewhere. read more

I absolutely love this nail salon. I've been twice now, both for dip nails and then once for a pedicure. The atmosphere when you walk in is always so friendly and I love the aesthetic of it being like a "bar" with all of their services labeled appropriately as drinks or other things you'd see being sold at your typical bar. The manicure I got one Valentine's day is so cute and exactly how I wanted it to look! I got the dip powder with two tones making a sort of ombré effect. I chose a slight pink color along side a sparkly white which created an amazing translucent effect on my nail. The nail salon itself seemed to keep high cleaning standards with the surfaces being actively wiped down after every customer. The staff wore masks at all times, along with the other customers. There are nice dividers placed between you and the nail artist so both of you have that extra protection. Overall, I'd highly recommend this nail salon. Additional add on: the location is very convenient in that it is in the heart of downtown annapolis. But as all things downtown, plan for parking! Holly is my go to! Everyone knows finding THE nail tech who just gets you can be difficult. After moving here in July and finding nothing but crap nail salons with untalented techs, I found Holly at Kosmo. At first I was a bit sticker shocked with Maryland in general for cost of nail services, and the truth is, Kosmo is probably a couple bucks more than most places. BUT- you get what you pay for! Holly is sweet, patient, professional, and most of all, TALENTED! She doesnt use crap product, and is super efficient. She gives great pedicures, and truly wants her clients to be happy. Most important, she LISTENS- I ask for a certain nail shape, color and thickness, she nails it EVERY TIME! I love Holly so much because of her versatility! Last time I did a classic pink and white French with the modern twist of an ombre fade. This time, I showed Holly some pictures, gave her some color ideas, and told her to get creative. Lazy and inconsistent. Literally the only words I can use to describe this place. I have been coming to Kosmo regularly for almost a year now and honestly I kept going because it was convenient to where I live. I love the location and the space is clean and the staff is nice. So with that being said I have overlooked little things and continue to come in to have my nails done. Well, not anymore. Last week I came in to have my SNS dip manicure removed and re done. my previous dip color was almost black and I was getting a light opal pink for my new color. I have seen Jaden before and was excited for him to do my nails again because I have always had a good experience with him. This time it was like he was in a rush, didn't want to do my nails just being lazy about the whole service. I wasn't in a rush, I didn't care how long it took, I just wanted my nails done right. He didn't get all of the previous dip off, WHICH WAS INSANELY VISIBLE through the new lighter color. Once he told me to go wash my hands I was able to check them out and notice that you can see the previous dip through my new color and it looked like complete trash. I sat back down and showed him the issue and he said he didn't see that the previous dip was still on my nails and that he could just cover it up with gel. I am a hair stylist and the reason I don't get gel is because my hands are constantly in water and the gel rises and peels off within days. ( which is what ended up happening) But I didn't want to spend another hour there getting them re done, at this point I was so over this place and the quality of service I was getting that all I could think about was what nail saLon I could go to to fix this mess. I go to check out and he charges me for the dip manicure. $48. which I technically didn't receive as my end result because the dip service wasn't even finished. My nails are so rough and thick it's unreal. and on top of that I still tipped. Even though I shouldn't have. Because honestly I have never walked out of any nail salon so disappointed and feeling like I literally never want to get my nails done again. This was a complete waste of my money. My clients have been making comments about my "bruised nails" all week long. And I have let everyone know that I have referred there about my experience and wasn't surprised to hear that they too have had lazy, rushed work done there. I am not one to complain. Very cute spot with friendly people working here. They obviously have lots of regulars who come, and there are lots of seating options. However, I am not really impressed with my manicure. It's probably one of the least tidy manicures I've ever gotten, with sloppy cuticle trimming and some nails not fully polished. For $18, I would have wanted a little bit better of a result. So on a whim I decided to look for a nail salon that offers SNS nails which is a new service and is healthier than acrylics in Maryland after hearing a youtuber talk about it on her channel. I found Kosmo Nail Bar off the SNS website which lists all nail salons offering the service and product. I checked yelp for all reviews about each location, Kosmo had the best service and for an affordable price. I believe I read somewhere another nail salon was offering the service for $70 ( that's robbery). So I called Kosmo for a same day appointment and they were accommodating to my schedule. I drove from silver spring to downtown Annapolis and i will warn everyone PARKING IS A STRUGGLE. it's honestly not their fault, it's just the regulations of the area that makes it difficult on businesses. The salon is modern and chic, clean and conveniently located at the corner so you don't miss it. From what I observed the atmosphere made you feel like you were in a high end spa which is nice compared to many rush rush places. I only booked the SNS nails at first but while my acrylics were being soaked off i asked for a pedicure and they squeezed that in just fine without rushing which can tend to happen at other nail salons. The pedicure felt like it took awhile and the massage wasn't as firm as I like but because she was thorough and very nice about it being last minute I just went with it. They were very informative and professional explaining the SNS process and how it's different from the acrylics as far as nail health and how there's much less damage to your actual nail. All the staff that I spoke to were very professional and they are client oriented and consumer oriented. Bao, the owner explained me his vision for Kosmo, i really appreciate how customer satisfaction is their main priority, it shows they care about their clients and its not all about the money. As far as SNS goes, the price and drive was definitely worth. The nails look natural, no tip was needed to extend my nails which means no glue and drilling! They have a large selection of the SNS powder with sample sticks - choosing colors became that much easier! Their regular polishes offer CND, OPI and Essie. Makes choosing colors from a brand you trust easier since the selection was vast. Overall, will I make that drive to Annapolis from silver spring again? HECK YEAH! read more

I found this fabulous nail bar, of course through Yelp. Best decision ever to come here. Celebrating my BF's bday (she's a vday baby), my sis and girlfriends decided to treat her and ourselves to a day of pampering: Mani's, pedis and massages for everyone. I called the salon at 10:23am (this was on Saturday Valentines Day too) and spoke to someone over the phone who told me that there were definitely appts available and that they could accommodate my group of 4 at 12pm. Fantastic!!! I was able to find street parking on King George St right in front of the Naval Academy and I only had to walk a couple blocks. But be weary of the green 2 hour parking limit signs. You don't want to get towed. When you walk through the doors of this nail salon you are walking into a cute boutique style nail bar. The interior is very clean, modern and posh all wrapped into one. We each got pedicures, and the names of these treatments sound like delicious drinks & desserts. I had a Bahama Mama Peditini with Colada Sparkle and my BF had a Hot Buttered Rum Peditini. You're seated in your own personal massage chair that you can control. That chair kneaded, knock knocked, combed & karate chopped my back, and it felt so good. Once the massaging begins on your feet and calves, you will pass out. I had a 40 minute meeting with Ms.Diane, and she had me feeling like I need to take her out on a date after that amazing session she blessed upon my legs. WOW....the whole experience from beginning to end was fabulous. All the ladies were fantastic and they all made my BF's bday a memorial one. And because of this we will be back. My BF also got a manicure, but the process that they used was something I've never seen before, and it was really cool. Its called SNS (Signature Nail System): All organic products, 5 different vitamins & calcium, no odor, no liquid, no primer, no UV light. I believe your nails are dipped into some type of powder and this in turn, colors your nails and it's supposed to be healthier for your nails too. Her nails look like perfect little candy buttons afterwards. All the ladies T, Chi Chi, Diane and Zoe thanks for making us feel special while we were there.
