Took me a long time to find "my place" after having worked with a tech for the last 4 years. When I moved out here, it was such a struggle to find a good nail tech who knew exactly what you wanted and took care of your nails. When I came here, Hannah took just as much care and time with my nails as my previous tech. She was absolutely wonderful. She made sure that the length of my nails were even, shaped properly, and took time to produce the product that I wanted. My nails look great and I'm so happy that I found this place. I've been a regular here for years. I know the prices as I come at least monthly. Sent my daughter today (without me) and they charged her $20 more than the usual fee. I spoke w Gary the owner and he said the extra was for cutting cuticles. What?! Isn't that part of a manicure? I've never been charged extra here for cuticles, and also my daughter said they didn't even trim her cuticles. Plus seriously $20 for cuticle care? I'm so disappointed. The salon is super inconvenient but I was a regular because I was very happy with Lee and the price has always been the same for me. I will not be back nor recommend them anymore. read more

I went to establishment on 5/31/2019 at approximately 5 pm. Holly did a French manicure and French pedicure. My two big toes had to have the previous gel removed. She did not make any small talk and got right to work. I have no problem with the manicure although she did not soak my fingers at all which would have given me a little better results with my cuticle removal. She said the total was $102 and changed that amount to $108. I was a little taken aback but paid it in cash. I went on the website and I am a little confused by $108. It says the following for services 1. Basic manicure $35 2. French manicure $6 3. Gel polish removal with services $5 (I would assume they would have charged this for my two big toes) 4. Basic pedicure $32 5. French pedicure $6 Now this only totals $88 and I was charge $108 Even if they charged $5 a toe for the removal the amount is still off! When she "rang" me up she did not touch anything on the computer screen. Do you think she added a gratuity? I did leave her a $17 tip! I am feeling like she took advantage of me since she knew I was from out of town and she maybe thought "I had money" or maybe she thought I was stupid. I was stupid. I went to the salon to get my nails soaked off. Initially the tech decided she was going to try and peel off the some of my nails off even though they were still fully glued down. I had to then ask her to stop because it was hurting after around the third nail and it was leaving the nail bed really thin. Then, the rest of my nails that were "soaked off" still have acrylic even though i pointed out they did. I ended up paying $17 for a soak off which is an up-charge since she peeled off 4/8 nails. I have really mixed feelings about Kosmo. I called ahead to make sure they wouldn't be too busy and they said they could take me at 11:30. I struggled to find parking because it's all street parking and it's pretty limited, so after driving around for a while I finally walked in at 11:33. The salon is really minimalist and laid back. It was busy but I figured the wait wouldn't be bad since I called ahead, but about half hour later I was finally started on. There wasn't an apology for making me wait or an offer of a water bottle or anything. I've also never had my nails filed without soaking them before, so I thought that was odd, even though I was just getting a basic gel manicure. However, my nail technician was really friendly and we chatted a lot and it made the time pass by quickly. I was in Annapolis for the weekend for a wedding, so I chose Kosmo based on its good reviews. It did the job and my nails looked great, but there wasn't anything particularly special about it. Then, several days later, one of my nails chipped, which has never happened to me with a gel manicure before. It would have been fine if it was cheaper, but when I "treat myself" to a nice gel manicure I expect more. Next time I'm in Annapolis and need to get my nails done, I would try somewhere else before coming back here. read more

I'm very disappointed to have to write this review, however, it must be done. I was a steady SNS customer here but I'll no longer be going back. At first a young lady and a gentlemen were doing my nails and they were GREAT! The last 3 times I went neither one of them were there. I never bothered to get their names because anytime I made an appt they always made sure that only a SNS trained tech did my nails. That last 3 times, not good. I'm not sure if it's a man or woman (not trying to be offensive just descriptive) but he or she filed my nails down waaaaaay too much until I had to say ouch! Then almost argued with me the second time about my nails being to short for a French SNS. Ummmmm nooooo, I've always maintained short nails and SNS has never been a problem. They did the SNS and it worked out great but once again too much filing. The 3rd time was the last time I went bc after I soaked it off 2 weeks later, I had 3 dents in each of my nails from the excessive filing. It took quite some time for the dents to finally grow out. I always try to keep nice, clean looking nails even with just a simple mani. I was embarrassed to show my hands while waiting for the disaster to go away. Never again! Okay, I'm back! After trying 2 other places closer to my home, I've realized that Kosmo is a salon to be reckoned with. I got my usual, pedicure and SNS. The guy that had messed my nails up before is no longer with them thank goodness! So what I've learned during my time away from Kosmo is this: 1. Many salons claim to do SNS but with knockoff products. 2. Many salons don't know what they're doing. 3. Many salons don't use enough layers of the powder, which takes me back to #2. Long story short, I'm back to making my 30 -40 minute trip to Kosmo. read more

I have reconsidered my rating in light of the owner, Holly, taking corrective action. I appreciate her being accountable and have adjusted my rating from 1-3 stars. She refunded me for my disappointing experience. Below is my original review for the sake of transparency: I was very disappointed with my first (and likely only) experience with Kosmo Nail Bar. I went in just before July 4th to get my nails done for the holiday weekend and there were several factors that led me to give a one star review, which I hate to do to a small business. First, there was no support for my elbows on the table. This is something I have become accustomed to at other nail salons (usually a pad or towel that prevent your elbows from digging in to the table), but this was during Covid-19, so I was willing to forgive that. Next, my previous SNS powder nail polish was removed not by acetone, but by stripping it from my nails leaving them very damaged. The nail tech did not soak my nails or fix my cuticles, he simply moved on to applying new polish. They did not have the bright red color I selected in stock (which can happen), but when I asked the nail tech to use a similar color, he used an orange shade. It is difficult to tell with dipping powder, but it became clear after a few nails that this was definitely not red. I asked him to change it and he was visibly annoyed by having to, but did it begrudgingly. The last straw for me when was he used the electric nail file and kept filing over my skin. I asked him to stop, but continued to do it making for an unpleasant experience. I still tipped nicely because my nails looked decent despite the poor experience. However, they chipped within a few days adding to an already frustrating experience. Unfortunately, as a result of this, I won't be returning. read more

Nice place, clean, professional, good products, not very friendly, no greeting, not very relaxing as the nail technician started texting during my pedicure, then proceeded to call someone and engage in a confrontational conversation for 10 minutes. Even other techicians noticed how loud she was. I made sure to have a good bit of cash for tip, but I was definitely a disappointed. If I didn't come to relax, it may not have been a big deal. I probably won't come back. Also, for the prices they should offer some water or tea. read more

I don't typically drive to Annapolis...and definitely not just to get my nails done. But Kosmo's is one of my friend's favorite places to get her nails done so I have joined her on occasion. Kosmo's is unique in that it does SNS nail systems! The SNS is a "process overlays directly onto the nail bed to create a long lasting nails with exceptional durability and shine. The application does not use harsh chemicals, it eliminates the odor that are typically associated with acrylic and gels. The SNS process represents a completely new technology in nail enhancement. Older methods such as acrylic and gels create a barrier that can cause weak, brittle nails and can even promote the growth of fungus on the nail bed. Or at least that is the SNS system claims. So my friend gets this system done to her nails here and I get gel done. Kosmos is clean, they are super friendly, and extremely accommodating. Although English is not the 1st language of most of the technicians, all of their grasp of English is better than most places so you can actually have a chat with the techs. I've never had to remind anyone to clean their instruments in front of me, they do it as their natural practice. They have plenty of colors of gel and for the SDS. The salon is large enough to accommodate a group of 4 for pedicures in a single row, plus there are other soak tubs as well. Kosmo's also has a manicure bar with high top chairs to allow for them to do a decent volume of clientele quickly and efficiently. And of course, you can get some waxing done as well. All in all, Kosmo's offers all the services one expects from a nail salon but with the addition of the SNS nails right on the water in historic Annapolis. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with their experience. read more

This is one of the nicest nail salons I've been to in the DMV. I came in once as a walk-in and they had no availability, so I came back the next week and was able to get in a gel manicure for a wedding. It might be easier to make an appointment here than just walking in sometimes. The salon is very clean, bright, and trendy. The techs are friendly, easy to communicate with, and do a thorough job. I'm very rough on my nails, and I'm a week in and my gel manicure hasn't chipped anywhere. Very impressed. The one downside I can think of is that finding parking nearby is difficult, but that's just downtown Annapolis. read more

Just went to this nail salon for the first time today. I initially went because its in a great location in downtown annapolis (walking distance from where i live) but i will definitely return because the service/experience was so great. The decor is really nice and trendy. They actually have the nail section set up at a bar looking area so you can actually sit next to your friend and chat while you get your nails done! the lady who did mine did a really great job, and didnt cut me at all. Found this place on Yelp with five stars from happy customers. Called on MLK day to find out they were open and I got a same day appointment. Gigi greeted me with a friendly "Hello! We'll be right with you, why don't you choose your colors and have a seat?" A short while later I was ushered to a nice comfy chair to begin my pedi soak. I'm a podiatric medical assistant so it pleased me to see their instruments brought out in a sterilized nail pack straight from the autoclave. I've seen to many infected nails and fungus to suffer poor hygiene. Gigi always got my feedback for every part of the pedicure and she was careful while pushing back my cuticles and also gentle while using the nipper. The paint job was well done she was careful to advice me to dry my toenails longer than usual since I was going to put my boots back on. The environment was clean, funky and bright. All in all I enjoyed my first visit and will be back to try their waxing service. read more

Holly is my go-to girl! She's super friendly and makes every appointment something I look forward to. I always get SNS done. After going to other salons for this service, I need my nails re-done every 2 weeks. With Holly, the life of my nails can be extended up to 5 weeks, no chipping, no lifting. I'm a nail biter so by nature, I'm a difficult client. All of the techs take their time, ask you how you want it done, and deliver amazing results. This became my favorite nail place on my first visit. The whole staff is wicked friendly, and super accommodating. I always get the SNS manicure, and it lasts almost a month! I was staying downtown for work and had broken a nail while traveling so had searched a few different places for SNS; Kosmo had the best reviews. I called and they were able to get me in within twenty minutes. The salon itself was very clean, the staff were very polite and Holly did an awesome job on my nails, added a tip to my broken one and shaped them exactly how I wanted. She was very meticulous but quick, I was out of there in under an hour. For the area and what other places were charging for SNS, the pricing was extremely reasonable ($48) and only a little higher than what I normally pay at my go-to place in Denver, but I thought it was definitely worth it for the quality! If I was local, this would be my regular spot. Really shocking that this place somehow has 4.5 stars. If 0 stars were an option, that's what I'd give them. This is the first time I've ever had a nail technician paint OVER cotton ball fuzzies instead of just simply cleaning off the nails completely before painting. As you can see in the pictures, I now have those 2 lines of fuzzies painted onto my toenails. I can't pick them off because they are dried onto my nails. I asked the nail tech to take off the fuzzies and she just kept saying, "don't worry" as if she would take care of it somehow but just continued painting. Also, can we take a moment to acknowledge how crooked my big toenail is? And how the nail tech didn't even bother cleaning up the polish she got all over my cuticles? Lastly, I got the cheapest "peditini" which on their website, says is $32. I was charged $37 because there is a $5 charge for nail polish. This is the first nail salon I've been to where they charge to paint your toenails with a pedicure; literally EVERY nail salon I've been to, fresh polish is included with the pedicure. Needless to say this was THE worst pedicure experience I've ever had in my life. The bar chairs (where my friend got her nails done and I sat in waiting for her) were extremely uncomfortable. Everyone deserves a second chance....... I have to say the first time I tried this a place, I was NOT impressed at all. My manicure chipped in a few days. I went back two more times because I had a friend in from out of town and she wanted a manicure and pedicure. Given that we live in downtown Annapolis, and it was a busy weekend, I tried it again. Twice actually...... I have to say that I have COMPLETELY changed my mind. When I went back the first time Zoe gave me a gel manicure and pedicure and it lasted for over three weeks. I work in medicine and hand gel completely destroys most manicures. I had told her there was a problem with first time I went there. She told me if it chipped to please come back and they would take care of it. Needless to say, it was not an issue. It lasted well over three weeks, I went back again today and they stayed open to accommodate us. They were truly and fantastic. I had reservations and thought that this as going to be rushed.
