I really enjoy the overall vibe of this place, music and the clean air (no harsh chemical smell!) make it a really comfortable place to unwind. I also appreciate that they've stopped charging extra for certain nail polishes. The foot exfoliator they use is fantastic. I've noticed some inconsistencies with the Uptown Pedicure service. My first visit was great -- exactly as described, with a scrub up to the knee, paraffin wax, and a lovely extended massage. That's what convinced me to make the drive from Baltimore to Annapolis for a repeat visit. But on my next few visits, those steps were skipped entirely. I even reached out to the contact listed online, but never received a response. I decided to give it another try this past week, hoping my previous experience was a one-off mistake. Unfortunately, it wasn't. The same abbreviated service again. I also got a gel manicure this time. The nail tech was super sweet and friendly. The dry cuticle care left my cuticles shredded. The description of the gel manicure mentions a lotion massage, but what I received was just a few drops of cuticle oil after curing the polish -- definitely not the same thing. I totally understand if this location has adjusteld their service menu from the national model, but if that's the case, it would be great to have that clearly communicated on the services description for Annapolis read more

I recently visited for a pedicure and was completely blown away by the service! Never have I ever been called after a pedicure to see if I enjoyed my service. The appointment never starts on time. If you book a time be prepared for it to start at least 15-20 minutes late. I usually get the gel manicure and in the last 6 months it always chips within a week. I started driving to Baltimore/alexandria to get nontoxic manicures because quality has been so bad lately. When it first opened years ago it was great, it's really gone downhill. I would recommend going elsewhere if looking for nontoxic manicure. read more

Had an appointment for a sculpted gel set. All the staff I interacted with were friendly and warm, and the salon was bright, clean, and welcoming. I was seen almost immediately after I arrived, which was so nice after a long workday. Unfortunately, I wasn't pleased with the outcome of my nails. I didn't realize that a manicure was not included with the service (my fault, I suppose, for not reading more closely when booking), so my cuticles weren't pushed back or cut. If I had known, I would have given myself a manicure the evening before. The application of the gel was sloppy and lumpy. Some of my nails were very short and made using the forms harder, which lead to having a really thick gel application, some of which bled underneath the nail. Both of my thumbs had huge chunks of gel that had seeped under and cured. Ordinarily, that could be drilled away and refined, but I think this is a no-drill establishment, so I walked out with the chunks under my thumbnails. The color application wasn't taken all the way to the sides of the nails, so it looked grown out from the start. The coats were also streaky and uneven. When the nails caught the reflection of the light, the messy color application and lumpy gel were really obvious. They were also bumpy to the touch. I paid $80 plus a 20% tip, even though I wasn't happy with the outcome. The front desk staff asked to see my nails, and I was surprised she didn't address how sloppy they were and the giant chunks of gel under my thumbs. I didn't ask for the work to be fixed because I didn't want to have to try and justify my complaint and possibly sit in an awkward situation longer to have to have most of the work redone. I went home and redid the work myself. The gel overlay was so thick that I was able to drill off top coat, 2 coats of color, base coat, and still had enough overlay that I could sand down and shape each nail and not even get close to my natural nail bed. I repainted a different gel color and topcoat at home and will keep that for a few weeks so my nails grow out. I really wanted to like this place, but for almost 2 hours in the chair and close to $100, I expected a much better result. I don't know if I caught the tech on an off day, maybe sculpted gel wasn't their strong suit, or if what I wanted wasn't really achievable with how my natural nails were (which is totally okay-just say so and we can change course) but I don't think I will be returning. read more

Got my first manicure and pedicure from Paint Nail Bar today. I've been waiting for a place like this for over 10 yrs. I stopped by for their grand opening and loved everything about this place. The owner kindly greeted me, told me about Paint Nail Bar and showed me around. Everything is clean, bright and relaxing. I got a gel manicure and talk of the town pedicure with Dazzle Dry polish which dries in 5 minutes. I had two different nail techs. Kelvina for Mani and Ellie for pedicure. Perfect manicure and pedicure! My first time trying the GelX product and I can already say it's better than acrylics. I loved the decor, comfortable seating and the fact there is no chemical smell (typical of other nail salons). The staff was very friendly and detailed in their work. Not even a refund for permanent disfiguration! On entering the salon and having a manicure and pedicure, the experience was good. Unfortunately, the problems started once I left. Within 2 days my big toe had started to become painful. After 4 days I developed a serious infection. Within a short space of time, I'd had multiple visits to a doctor, I'd been on a course of antibiotics and had to have my toenail removed. My toenail is now rather disgusting. So rather than walking away with a lovely pedicure, I have a permanently deformed toe. My main issue is how I've been treated by PAINT and the management team since then. I haven't even been offered a refund despite the manager initially saying "This is no small matter!" They obviously took me seriously enough that they requested my medical records, which I subsequently shared to prove what had happened and since then I have had minimal response from them. What contact I have had has been rude and abrupt. I've given ample of opportunity for them to talk to me and resolve the issue. It just isn't how I would have expected to be treated after suffering a serious injury after attending their salon. I don't want to make accusations for the sake of it but, after how I've been treated; being told it was a serious matter, asking for my medical records to just be ignored, to not even being offered a refund! I now want to warn future clients of Paint Annapolis to know the consequences of going there could include a permanently disfigured nails, doctors' visits, and a management team that will ignore you at all costs. read more

I have been going to this location since August of 2023. I initially met the owner one day I happened to call for a last minute appointment and she turned out to be even sweeter in person. I booked an appt online a week ago for 2 hrs- a remove and gel with a design. I walk in and the girl proceeds to tell me i will not be getting the service i had booked because there wasnt enough time to remove my dip powder and do the service. MIND YOU I BOOKED A REMOVE. I asked if there was another time slot she could accoomadate me because i wanted to have done what i booked. (My fiance treated me for my birthday) she tells me yes but i would have to pay a cancellation fee. wait what? I booked a service that they couldnt accomodate so i have to pay a fee? I was at this place 1 time almost a year ago... the lady sold me a "membership" saying it would be charged monthly pending I used the service if I didn't use it they would refund the money because obviously I didn't get a service... well that was untrue they have charged me 40$ a month and never refunded the money... I called Sever times. It finally took an email to get them to stop charging me for a service I don't receive. Wonderful atmosphere. Clean,spacious and calming. Technician are excellent. Got the Dazzle Dry polish and I am thrilled! One week later NO CHIPPED NAILS!! It truly is a mix between regular and gel polish. Typically with regular polish my nails start chipping after 2-3 days. Did gel polish once and did not like the removal or application process. Dazzle dry goes on like regular polish. You are dry in less than 5 min and removal is the same with regular polish! read more

Paint has been one of my favorite spots since moving to the Annapolis area about a year ago. It is so much more than your average nail salon experience. It is superbly clean and supremely relaxing. They have great color selection and I never feel like they are trying to rush me out. I've been religiously getting my nails done every two weeks for years and always struggled with the polish coming off and my nails chipping until I found PAINT. Their polish is made from natural, organic ingredients, which have been a game changer for my nails; now they are healthy, strong, and growing. I appreciate the salon's upbeat and modern ambiance and complimentary beverages; I even get a birthday gift every year! If you like fun and creative colors and designs, the technicians are skilled at creating them and love doing them. I always found other nail salons wanting to get you in and out as quickly as possible and the techs here take their time and are thorough. Their online scheduling system is also a big plus since I see the same tech every time and I'm a regular. I was a walk-in, so your experience may be different with an appt. A positive was that they could accommodate me within a few min. The place is very nice and upscale, also offers accessories and clothing. They offered to make me a cup of tea. The downside is that I had had my nails dipped by a prior place and they were going to charge $30 to remove it. They only did regular painted-on gel nails there. I was going to bite the bullet. I asked if they did nail art....the person assigned was not trained in that yet. I asked if I could at least get a French manicure with a colored tip...the woman hesitated to say yes. I was surprised because I can even do this myself at home. It occurred to me to ask if they can do nail tips where a couple of my nail tips had fallen off...the answer was No. At this point, I gave up and left.
