thought I finally found a good nail salon in Annapolis but I was definitely proven wrong today. From the second I sat down with my nail tech it was clear the vibes were off, she was immediately rude. I wanted very short natural looking nails and when I asked her to please cut my natural nails before she put on the tips she rolled her eyes and said "I know I know I know", then proceeded to not do that! So she clearly did not know. Throughout the entire service she was yanking my arms and the way she dug her nails into me when I physically couldn't turn my arm the way she wanted was clearly intentional. I had deep nail marks in my skin. I have never experienced anything like this where a nail tech is trying to physically hurt me. She filed my skin so deeply with both the electric and regular file that 3 of my fingers bled and had skin coming off. Then she did not make my nails short, like I asked. I asked her to go shorter three times and when she asked if I was happy with the length I asked her to please go shorter again and she said no. At one point in the service she asked what high school I went to and exclaimed that I look "very young", so I'm not sure if this is how they treat their younger customers because they think they can get away with it but I was truly so appalled, hurt (physically), and disappointed with my service. (And I am definitely not in high school) I will have to waste more money to get these nails fixed somewhere else. And to add the cherry on top, before she finished she looked at my face and said I can do your eyebrows too. It was seemingly one rude thing after another and I left with tears in my eyes. So if you want to have nails dug into you, your fingers cut so deeply they bleed, your eyebrows insulted, thick nails that look like teeth, and a nail tech that tries to physically hurt you, this is certainly your place. I come to this salon often and always receive great service. My daughter is visiting for the holidays so I treated her to a pedicure. She was asked SIX times if she wanted gel and SIX times she had to say "No". It made her service uncomfortable. She felt bullied and judged. My special treat turned out to be a bad experience . I've been going to Deluxe Nails for a couple of months. I've never been disappointed. I schedule appointments so rarely do I wait. The owner is so pleasant, he greets me when I walk in, provide mail color samples and sometimes in the rare instances when my nail tech Tom is wrapping up, he'll prep my polish to be removed. The establishment is clean and quiet. There isn't a lot of chatter which I enjoy. I am there after to just unwind and relax. Tom is always thorough and he takes his time. Again, not a lot of conversation - yeah! Services are very reasonably priced. If you can bring cash, great because there's a small fee if you use a credit card. There's an ATM machine on there but depending on your bank, you may end up paying a fee for that as well. I'd highly recommend this establishment. Great group of people! read more

This is a busy and tiny salon next to the Amish market so it gets a lot of walkins. Call first. I had a decent experience the first time but the most recent visit the tech asked if I wanted to have the callous treatment for $5 extra. I said yes and she used the metal rash to scrape and when I asked if she could do one more pass on a toe she scolded me and motioned she would use loofah. Then while looking away scraped the side of my foot without looking and opened the skin. She was rushed and the salon was so busy wanted me out of the chair fast. I won't return. read more

My friend and I made an appointment but we decided to go the day before our appointment as walk-ins since we were in the area. They close at 7 on the weekday and we arrived at 5:45ish so we weren't sure if they would let us get the services we wanted because it was late. To our surprise we were greeted right away, told we could get our services and to pick colors. We both wanted Manicures and Pedicures, but were undecided as to exactly which type we wanted. By the time we picked colors the staff was ready for us to sit in the chair for our pedicures. Since we were together they let us sit together. My friend got the Signature Pedicure & I did the Basic Pedicure. I loved the way the tech asked me if I wanted my nails cut down and when I said yes, she cut them to perfection... very even. My friend and I were able to converse and get the massage from the chairs and it seemed like time flew by! The techs were quick but the job was not sloppy at all. Next we walked over to the manicure area and decided we wanted gel manicures. The techs did not get annoyed that we changed at the last minute and they were very flexible. Loved how my tech trimmed my nails down, cleaned my nails up & shaped them beautifully. She did an amazing job. I wish I lived in the area so I could be a frequent customer. I had an appointment today for a pedicure and fill-in. I made the appointment over the phone so I didn't know who was going to be my nail tech. While the nail tech that did my pedicure was nice, the massage with the foot scrub and lotion was very short and a bit lazy. I opted for the lavender pedicure which includes an extended massage. It was a little less than 2 minutes on each leg/foot. Also, my heels were not scrubbed enough to get them smooth. I shouldn't have to buff my feet when I get home. Other than those hiccups, she did a good job removing an ingrown toenail and polishing my toes The nail tech who did my nails did a great job. I understand they got really busy not too long after I was seated in the pedicure chair bit, don't rush my service when I'm paying $70 for the pedicure. read more

I gave Deluxe nails & spa a try, as I was overdue and really just need some relaxing spa time ... upon first glance: quaint & clean atmosphere...Techs appeared friendly and pleasant ... I went as a walk in, so to speak (but called in advance) Requested a pedicure [with callus removal ($35)]...my pedicure was efficient and the pedicure tech thorough. While there, I decided to take a chance on a Full-set [Acrylic $30; [+15 (gel add on.)] but my current tech whom did my pedicure 'doesn't perform this particular service'--(?)hmm, ok; odd but, whatever... wasn't sure who would be performing the task; but someone else did; she was nice enough and conversational...it was a leap of incredible faith on my part, in a new place, but I needed to have them done conveniently, this day. While my tech was engaging & did her best; Honestly: I'm not 100% happy with the quality of the job on my hands: one nail is tilted/pointing up & the techs shaping needs work- extremely sharp edges that I had to file at home because the were very crude/rough & cutting. I had hopes for a bit more symmetry than what I received but --perhaps someone more experienced would've been a better pairing... vs whose turn it was ...Again nothing personal...but not finishing off certain details or correcting the obvious 45° slant let me know this wasn't her specialty & it had nothing to do with my hand or nails but skillset. Also, a discrepancy with pricing, which didn't particularly sit right... I was charged $90 vs. $80 which should've been the total for the service according to the menu (& There was no additional service for the up-charge.) unwittingly tipped an additional $10 on top of the now realized overcharge, as the young woman who did my pedicure was different from who did my set, and had gone, lastly they were closing so it was a bit of an urgency. However...from a customer standpoint the unjustifiable up charge rubs me wrong. If the tip is being added automatically, as a courtesy this should be made known upfront and confirmed, should the service warrant. If it's not that then clarity is called for because something doesn't compute. I usually give a one off, but the more I look at this witchy looking finger & my receipt, I'm put off. The owner was extremely unprofessional. The manicure was sloppy. Paint was all over the cuticles. I could have done a better job of painting my nails at home. The nail filing was crooked and I was left with sharp edges. I would not recommend this place to anyone. While trying to decide on a color for my gel mani, my technician, Katie, helped me pick a slightly more vibrant color. Things like that are so nice. My nails look perfect. I think a marker of a good place is their ability to do the simple things well. I got one color, no designs. Everything is smooth and well applied, and feels sturdy. She is so sweet and takes her time to produce quality work and file each nail evenly for matching sets for each hand. She also takes time to evenly coat each nail and makes the layers thin so the tips feel like your natural nails. Was in Annapolis for a wedding and chose this salon based on the reviews, their reputation for skilled SNS application, and the fact that their website states "best massage in town". Made an appt for two SNS mani and two pedis. We arrived on time and were told to pick our pedi colors. We were seated next to each other and were given the pedicure menu for us to choose which pedi we wanted. We both opted for the milk and honey pedi as it came with an extended massage. Everything was fine for the most part here but the massage was probably one of the worsts I had and we were finished with our pedis before others who were getting pedis when we walked in. Definitely not an extended massage. When it was time for our SNS manis, they seated us in opposite ends of the salon even though there was an open table/chair next to my nail tech. She used tools that did not look like they had been cleaned/sanitized between services, im used to a salon that had a new package of tools opened for each appt. I was cut pretty deeply and the nail tech never said anything, let alone apologize. She kept dipping my bleeding nail in the powder for the bleeding to stop but it never really did. Pretty unsanitary. The application itself was poor, uneven, and super thick. Then, she finished with a gel top coat...I've been to various salons to get SNS manis and I've never seen this done before. When I told My go to nail tech back in VA about this, she mentioned salons do this to speed up service and cut corners. Finally, before I was done she didn't let me get up until she put a top coat on my toes that were completely dry at the time. Absolutely bizzare. No drinks were offered to either of us, even though we witnessed other nail techs offering/delivering beverages to guests. The photo says it all.
