Good food, I would definitely go back again. There's like 3 stories to this place. When you walk in it's the second floor which is the dining area and bar, they also have a small stage for live performances which was cool. Downstairs is another full bar and pool tables. I didn't go to the third level but I hear it's a banquet area for special occasions or parties. Overall, dinner/drinks service was good and reasonably priced. The staff was very friendly and kind. Ordered a to go plate for dinner and it was very blah. No bread, no flavor and way too greasy for my liking. My cup of water had red marks on the rim & they said it was from the tajin used on mixed drinks, like that made it ok. Just left this place. Bad bad experience. It started when the waiter forgot my husbands beer. It was only about 6p so it was not busy whatsoever. Then, the waiter was in such a rush that he was already walking away as we were still ordering. My husband ordered a burger, so of course this waiter had no time to ask how he wanted it cooked. I ordered the fish and chips and substituted the fries for the fried pickles. The burger was ok. My fish and chips almost made me puke. They were raw inside! What made it even worse is that I'm pregnant!! I called the waiter over and showed him the fish. He grabbed the plate real quickly from my hands and walked away. He returned minutes later with my exact same plate. So the cooks put my raw fish back into the fryer instead of making a new batch. The fish returned too hard on the outside since they were double fried and the inside was dry. It was rough to eat since it scraped the top of my mouth with each bite. And my fried pickles sat there while they refried the fish. So the pickles returned cold and also with a hard batter. Just to top it all off, I sat there twice for about 5 min each time, waiting for a refill of my ice tea. Someone needs to manage this place better. read more

First off let me start off by saying I really like this place and I think it has great potential. Came here to watch a playoff game with a my sister, her bf, and my bf. We had a nice time. There are many TV's all over so its easy to catch a game here. The chairs and tables are set up a little odd however. When we first arrived we sat down in a corner pub table and were ignored for a good 15 minutes. We moved and then were promptly greeted by what seems to be the owner who was busing the table we were going to sit at, which I think is where there problem is. (I'll get into that a little later) We were then able to order drinks after being here for about 20 minutes and ordered a round, which was delivered pretty promptly. We also ordered appetizers at this time and another round since it was still happy hour. (happy hour from 5-7) Once we received our appetizers we decided to order meals and were tended to by another server, who seems to be the son of the owner. (very nice guy) The menu was pretty simple and had some really appealing items. Our table ordered burgers of different varieties and I ordered a sirloin steak sandwich. We then waited for our meals and had our tables cleared. The entire time we were here however it seems that the servers and owner were working extremely hard to keep up with the orders coming from other tables. It was busy because its the playoffs, so I think it should have been expected from the owner and having more servers and maybe someone to bus the tables would be helpful to this business. Even though service was a little hectic, orders were correct, and tables were cleared promptly, and the kitchen rocked it in my opinion. Everything that we ordered was of high quality and put together nicely. My steak sandwich was very good, cooked perfectly and presented nicely. I really appreciate it when attention to detail is tended to by kitchen staff, and the quality here was not lacking one bit. Once we were finished and it was apparent that the Warriors lost the game, we asked for the check, which we received promptly. However, I was a little disheartened here because I really liked the food, but my bill was wrong. It included an additional meal and drink. We also used a groupon and the servers are unaware of how to process this, so that means that the owner has to step in. I really like this place, and will definitely be returning. I love supporting local businesses, especially those that have pleasant families that are working as hard as I observed. My only concern is that maybe training needs to be addressed along with this place being understaffed. read more

I've been here several times and the food and service always differs depending on who the server is. The girls behind the bar tend to be rude. Today we brought our friends and ordered the sampler platter and the calimari was squishy and not cooked right and the fried zucchini were extremely burnt. I don't understand how you'd serve clearly burnt food. Not sure if we will come back again. And there was hair on the veggies in the sampler platter. I've been coming to Metro Ale House since last year on there Grand Opening in March 2015, I stopped coming for a while since the place was completely slow or dead on customers for 4-6 months. Sadly I had no hope for this place, even though it's super huge. My friends recently invited me to go the beginning of the year. And I can honestly say that they place turned around for the best, I believe they hired someone to bring new Djs and events to Metro because now this place gets packed. I even checked out there Instagram and Snap Chat pages they have a pretty big following now. Pros: Cheap drinks on pretty much everything including premium liquors. I love Jameson and the fact that I only pay $8 rather than $10-12 i am happy to pay. Beers are always $5 downstairs including IPAs which is a smart move by an Ale House. The buffalo chicken sandwich, pomona fries, garlic chicken tenders and cheese steak sandwich are damn good. Best nights to go Sundays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays is always fun now. Cons: Sometimes there credit machines don't go through the first time and it double charges, I notified them and they handled it professionally. They need more security since drunk people like to talk crap to other people and the bartenders, for some immature reason. No other place in Downtown Pomona as of right now can compete with these guys. read more

Today was my second time at Metro Ale House and it was delightful! My server Natalie was on top of my drink and food order, and was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We had a nice chat. I grew up in Pomona and remember when there were NO options like Metro Ale House in the area. I am so happy to see the 2nd Street Arts Colony/Antique Row area thriving! I've only been for happy hour but am impressed with their prices and food/drink selection. I've had the garlic fries (which didn't sit right with me but may be more me than the fries) and the chicken fingers which were yummy! The atmosphere is casual and fun, and Natalie said that the place gets pretty bumping evenings and weekends. I will have to come and see for myself soon! I came in this last week at their grand opening. I had no idea what to expect. The place was brand new and had a good ambience for a bar. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and it was a cool place for Pomona. I definitely would come back. Me and a couple friends stayed and had some drinks here. There was an upstairs and a downstairs. I came here during lunch break on a weekday and it was fairly empty. Our server was very friendly and accommodating :) She seated us and took our orders quickly but the food took a long time to come out. We ended up having to make the entire order togo, which they helped us do no problem. However, they forgot one of my friend's orders and there was no time to wait for his food so he didn't get to enjoy lunch. We were also given out dirty unwashed plates (there was ketchup and crumbs on a lot of them) so that made us question the cleanliness of the restaurant :/ I ordered the street burger which was pretty tasty but not the best I've had. I did really enjoy their fries though! the onion ring portion is a little skimpy. Overall, I wouldn't come for food again but it still seems like a decent place to have a drink. read more

We were in the area and wanted to catch a couple of football games and stumbled upon this place. They have a lot of beer on tap, that's for sure, but our waitress has NO IDEA what they are or even the difference between cider and beer. She was clueless and slow with our service, and we even caught her playing on her phone quite a few times while on the clock. Came here on grand opening night on St. Patrick's Day after leaving O'Donovans since it was too crowded, hot, and the floors were way sticky for the crowd on St. Patty's Day (since the bar area at O'Donovans is pretty small). This new place reminds me a bit like the Tipsy Crow in Downtown San Diego in the Gaslamp Quarter or the Blue Beet in Newport Beach since it has 3 levels with alternating tastes/moods. Overall, good experience and I'd love to come out again and see how this place turns out and develops. My guess, with the golden lion statues outside, is that this will be a British Pub? It has plenty of potential with 3 floors (Basement [has a bar], Entrance Floor [has a bar], and Top Floor [will have a bar soon] - though the top floor wasn't open yet). There is plenty of indoor seating as well as outdoor patio seating for a cigarette. What's best is that there's plenty of freedom at this place to enjoy yourself however you want, whether you wanna chat with friends or with other bar patrons at a more quieter and intimate scene and noise level, or if you want to dance and enjoy some music, you're at the right place. Drinks: There's happy hour, college nights, and industry night (on Tuesdays). Beer selection was above average - regular beers as well as craft beers. Not too many micro breweries on selection though. Beer selection was a lot like Roscoes in Chino Hills and Fullerton. There is of course a full bar - both at the entrance floor and basement floor. Looks like there will be another bar at the upper top floor as well, but no word yet when it'll be ready. Food: I haven't seen anything yet, since it was opening night. I'll update this review. Entertainment: The night I went, there was a DJ playing both on the entrance floor and basement floor. I spoke to the bouncer and he told me there would be live music. There are 3 pool tables located on the basement floor with plenty of seating and a bunch large screen tvs. Pro Tips: Check out downstairs since it was popping. Once upstairs opens, it'll be beautiful since it overlooks the entrance level bar and you can pretty much chat and talk amongst friends and other people and have a good time. Draft beer for $5 a sweet deal! The place has a great selection of beer, they have a huge ipa selection. The food is reasonably priced with an average of 12 dollars a plate. We ordered the avocado chicken sandwich which was good, it could have used more avocado. We also ordered traditional buffalo wings with their ranch sauce. The ranch sauce was very very good- its homemade! Wings were a little overdone but good flavor. We came to watch the game, unfortunately they had a live band playing so we did not have commentary. We're brand new to Pomona and REALLY wanted to find a great place to watch football as we're entering the season. First trip here: Food was good. Service was awful. Last night, gave it a 2nd shot. After sitting and unattended for 15mins, we had to flag a waitress down just to get some water. She shoved us off on someone else who never showed. Ultimately as we were about to walk out, a man (I'm assuming was the floor manager) approached us. He was very nice and apologetic, but the damage was done. 2 for 2 on HORRIBLE service. The food this time around was ok. Nothing great. The Mango Habañero wings tasted like regular Buffalo Wings with red pepper flakes sprinkled on them. The Pomona Fries were "meh". The fried zucchini is delicious! I raved about it both trips. Sadly, I don't think we'll be back. They need to hire people who have great customer service skills and WANT to work. Not these girls who are in a rush to leave for the day... I was a waitress and bartender for many years. Money is money and always a chance to build clientele. It was very slow when we were there. No more than 5 tables sat. I've been coming to Metro since they've opened. I think the food is great and I like the atmosphere too. I really enjoy coming on the weekends. They have an awesome DJ! DJ Bonez!! He always has a great selection of music and he's my favorite! A lot of places in downtown Pomona don't have good music so that's why I enjoy Metro! Almost all the staff is great except for a this snooty bartender, I think her name is Lindsey. I'm usually not good with names but I remembered hers because she always gives me the worst service so I've learned to avoid her. But besides that, I really enjoy this place. read more
