I think this is an interesting place and the outside is the least inviting. Driving by, you wouldn't know that it would be a bar. I've been here twice and parking on the street can get difficult. When you come inside, the interior is okay but the atmosphere isn't inviting. It feels a bit uncomfortable. I went during happy Hour time, and I think the prices for drinks is very decent! I paid $3 for my beers. The problem is there was only one girl working during the entire happy hour. Other bartenders didn't come until nearing the end of it, so the poor girl had to manage a full bar with other full tables. People kept asking her for drinks and she was trying her best to make as many as she can. As happy hour died down and it got dark outside us when more workers came and there was security. My party sat inside then we moved outside. There was some fire to keep us warm and then we noticed another bar outside. The bar made our drinks wrong so we ended up going to the inside one more. Overall it just seems like there are lacking parts to this place; it needs more workers, more consistency, more rules set in place. This is not a favorite place of mine to be. read more

I've been coming here on Thursdays and have generally enjoyed the place, which is why this experience was so disappointing. Last Thursday, our group was having a great time. The staff inside was friendly, we had ordered our drinks, and we were in the middle of a conversation when, at around 11:52 PM, a security guard came over and very sternly told everyone that the bar was closing and that we needed to leave. For context, we were not refusing to leave. I simply smiled and asked, "Hey, there are still about 8 minutes left. Can we just finish our drinks really quick and then we'll head out?" He said no and told us to get out. At that point, we were already getting up and leaving. I told him that there was no reason to be so rude about it. A simple "Sorry guys, but we have to have everyone out because of policy" would have been completely understandable. Instead, he continued telling us to "just get out." What happened after we walked outside is what really crossed the line. Even though we were already outside and leaving, this security guard continued arguing with us. He called us "sensitive," called us "bitches," and repeatedly used the N-word toward us. He also told us that he had a job to do and couldn't be nice because people wouldn't leave. I completely understand that security has a job to do. If customers refuse to leave after being asked, then absolutely be firm and do what you need to do. But that wasn't what happened here. We were already leaving. He continued provoking the situation outside, even saying that if there weren't so many of us, he would have fought one of us. While we were outside, I ended up speaking with another patron who was still inside. During our conversation, that patron told me that he was a regular and that the establishment didn't mind him staying inside while everyone else was being asked to leave. I then asked that patron if he had ever had an issue with this security guard before. He told me that he had. According to the patron, during a previous closing, the security guard had pushed him on the back while he was already leaving, and the patron told him, "You don't touch another man in the back when I'm already leaving." Right after that point, a manager came outside and told us that we were now "86'd" from the establishment and needed to leave. We were already outside and off of the property, we have been off the property since the security first told us to. Being told we were banned after the security guard continued arguing with us felt completely backwards. I called the bar on Saturday because I wanted to speak with the owner or someone in charge and explain what happened. I was told the owner rarely comes in, but the manager was there. I explained that I didn't feel comfortable speaking with that manager because she had been involved in the incident, so I left my name, number, and a message asking the owner to contact me. The employee who took my information even told me this was not the first time someone had an issue with this same security guard. About 30 minutes later, I received a call from the same manager. Unfortunately, the conversation went almost exactly the way the original incident did. She was immediately defensive, repeatedly interrupted me, and insisted that the security guard had every right to act the way he did because it was "policy." I explained that I understood the policy and never disputed that we needed to leave. My issue was the way we were spoken to and, most importantly, the repeated use of racial slurs and insults after we were already outside. When I tried to explain that calling customers "bitches," "sensitive," and using the N-word was completely unacceptable, she continued defending her employee. When I told the manager her security was acting "douchey", she told me she would not allow me to talk about her staff that way and eventually hung up on me. That's not how I believe a business should handle a customer complaint. I'm not upset that we were asked to leave. If the policy is that everyone needs to be out at a certain time, that's completely understandable. I'm upset that we were treated disrespectfully when we were already complying, and that management's response was essentially to defend the behavior rather than address it. The security guard is one of the faces of the establishment. His behavior reflects directly on the business. If management is comfortable with an employee speaking to customers this way and especially using racial slurs, then that's something customers deserve to know before deciding where to spend their money. I genuinely liked coming here on Thursdays, which is why I hope the owner sees this review and reaches out. I'm not looking for special treatment or an apology just because we were asked to leave. I simply expect customers to be treated with basic respect, and I expect management to take legitimate complaints seriously. read more

This place is chill, clean and fun. Acknowledgment is very important when we drop in to any establishment and we were acknowledged immediately. Service was great. Jenna the young lady (bartender) ,she was kind and gave fantastic customer service. We went in for one beer and hung out longer because we were having a great time. We ordered the guacamole and chips, it was fresh and perfectly balanced. I read a couple reviews that stated this place isn't very good, drinks are overpriced and servers are not good- Well, I disagree. I recommend this place. Simply ask for a menu or prices before ordering, it's simple. We had a great experience and will continue to drop in on occasion. My husband and I have been here twice now and both times have been a great time dining experience. This last Saturday, we sat out on the patio and were helped by Kristin at the bar area, who was absolutely amazing! From start to finish, the service was above and beyond; friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Honestly, this girl deserves a raise! The food was also good! It was flavorful, and beautifully presented. The ceviche with avocado and chips was refreshing, the bruschetta was packed with flavor and perfectly drizzled, and the flatbread was loaded with a generous amount of toppings. The ambience had a relaxed yet lively vibe. It was perfect for a night out. Between the great service, delicious food, and overall vibe, this place is a gem. This spot has a lot of potential. The music is great, and the location is convenient. Service used to be solid, especially on Mondays when we would come in regularly. The gal working then was always friendly, attentive, and really made the experience enjoyable. Lately, though, the service has been hit or miss -- mostly depending on who's behind the bar. The male bartenders, in particular, tend to come across as rude, almost like they're doing you a favor just by opening a bottled beer. It really takes away from the vibe. To top it off, they've switched to serving draft beer in plastic cups, which feels like a step down for a place that could be so much better. Went in for happy hour with a friend. Horrible experience! Servers are basic, need a lesson in customer service. The one outside was super rude and couldn't even fake a smile. We had to go fetch our drinks, they never came over and asked us if we wanted another drink and we were there for at least two hours. The food was horrible, then I bought a bottle of wine Togo, and when I went to pay she charged me $48 for a cheap bottle of white wine with a twist off top. My friend was with me and I didn't want to embarrass her by denying the charge. When I got home I looked up how much the wine really is, it's only $10 at Total Wine & More! So they charged me three times the actual price of the wine!!! That's an insane up-charge. Incredibly bad taste! Shame on them! I will not be back after that experience. As far as I could tell, parking is on street only and can be scarce on weekends. DRINK & FOOD: I had an Old Stump Blonde Draft ($8) and my wife tried the Cadillac Margarita ($13), both spicy and regular, and both were well made. The food was okay. We tried the Chips & Queso ($8), which was the best of our choices. The Red Cabbage & Blue Cheese salad ($8) was interesting. I liked it, but my wife not so much. Finally, a Pepperoni & Jalapeno Flatbread ($13), which was okay. Overall, the staff were nice and attentive, and the food was okay, but probably wouldn't go out of my way to visit again. I've been here a few times now. It is close to where I went to grad school. It's a fun little bar with mostly outdoor seating. They play the Dodger's games which is cool. They have happy hour Monday through Friday early evenings and Taco Tuesday. The drinks are good and they have a good variety, as well as a full bar. The beer us good too, they have rotating drafts. My fiancé got drunk off the sour beer this weekend, he said it was very good. I had a few Palomas, Hugh quality with Herradura tequila and not house tequila. I was not hungover at all. The food is good, I recommend the nachos with chicken and the caprese salad. The green chile queso is bomb! Staff is pretty good, they check on you in intervals not too far apart. I think I was still recuperating from the double barre workout that my senses were still at a wack and Van had to point it out and say "is someone smoking". Surely enough someone was! Its been decades since I've seen anyone smoke while eating at a restaurant. I mean yes, it is an outside dining patio but still, it wasn't at a designated smoking area, he was smack in the middle, surrounded by other diners. They have a really nice patio with space heaters, fire pits, outdoor bar, and TV's. They also had a one man band on this night. There is also a small inside area. The staff seemed young and inexperienced but they were trying to make it work. Our waitress didn't know if they had old fashioneds or ginger ale. She looked overwhelmed covering the entire back patio and only came over when we waved her down. The old fashioned was terrible. They muddled bright red maraschino cherries in the bottom and poured the whiskey on top. Nothing even resembling an old fashioned. Grand opening for this quaint Spanish style tapas bar! Just what La Verne needed! The atmosphere is fun, the drinks are strong and the food is bite size and shareable. The staff is pleasant and super friendly, even during the craziness of a grand opening. They have an outdoor patio that's cozy and has live performers. Highly recommend the al pastor pressed sandwich, it's a great size and shareable, served with a chipotle ranch. Love the new addition to downtown! Come try it out before they have a long wait. Ps. Came on a Saturday night. The bar is relatively small inside, but the outside patio is nice with tons of seating and heaters. It definitely has a college feel / vibe but would recommend for a low key outing with friends. There was a DJ spinning all evening and was definitely on point with his 2000s throwbacks. The blonde bartender Kya or something denied my real ID. Friday 8:30. Was laughing at me and ignoring me. I tried to go back a couple minutes later with a pic of my passport I just got sent and she didn't even want to look at it and told us to go to a different bar multiple times. I was ordering with my two friends who she didn't ID and she lied to us about who the manager was after I asked to speak with them and said he was the one who did the light test and it"failed". My ID is a vertical Texas which I just turned 21 in beginning of the month, clearly not fake. She gave my ID back to me as well, which is a felony to do if it is a "fake".
