Last time I went here I had asked for a payment plan and they told me they didn't offer it and turns out they do and they just denied me and had to pay everything up front. I began coming to Cosmo Smiles about 9 months ago and I've had an overall pleasant experience. It's been easy to get appointments and they're accommodating. Dr. Kaur and the rest of the staff are always kind and patient and always make genuine conversation which just makes the experience in the office nice. Dr. Kaur has done my crowns, fillings and managed my invisalign. She is very obviously talented and knowledgeable in the field and took the time to explain something to me that no other dentist had in the past. Wish I read the reviews. They are looking to make money, not give you the best (and right) care. They charged me double what they originally quoted me and offered zero explanations for it. They also had to redo work a few times. Like other reviews, they said I needed a lot more work than I had ever needed before. And had to do it over several visits. Glad I got a second opinion because they seem like they are making things up to scam you out of money. Office workers are nice, but they are out for your money more than anything else. TERRIBLE. The staff is friendly and the dentist is nice but they are trying to get you for every cent you have. I relied on the office staff to explain my coverage, but I was not given correct information, and, on the day of treatment, they attempted to charge me several hundred dollars above what they had initially quoted. Specifically, they made no mention of the fact that I was out-of-network. Additionally, they recommended Invisalign (I've never had braces but do have mild crowding from ... life) and I felt pressured to oblige because they made such a point about the impact on my gum health. I have tried twice to cancel, once well before they could have sent out the scans, and the dentist was adamant that I should continue with the Invisalign plan. Only a week or so later did I determine I was being billed at out-of-network rates, so at my follow up appointment I requested to transfer my service to an "in-network" provider. This solved my immediate billing issue (they adjusted the bill where they had tried to charge me an additional $400 on work they had already quoted), but I have not been able to make any headway on the Invisalign. I am awaiting a call from the dentist but every time I try to call to discuss cancellation, they say I need to physically be present in the office for a discussion. As if we don't all have full time jobs!!!! I have never felt so scammed in my entire life. I waited 10 years to go to the dentist and I will probably wait another 10 after this experience. read more

Having dental treatment at other clinics have given me perspective, and I'm sorry to say that the dentist I saw at Cosmo failed to meet my expectation to be offered full treatment options and choices. I want the practice to improve and do well in the community, but the particular dentist's handing of my care ultimately let me down. + + The lady at the reception was friendly and helpful, both on the phone and in person. I was able to get an appointment without too long a wait. - - The dentist said my treatment required anesthesia and FOUR separate visits, with no mention of any other choices or options. After visiting another practice where I was given choices (numbing or no numbing, with only two visits as they want my gums to recover before the next visit), I can say with confidence that my experience at Cosmo could and should've been different. Needless to say, I never went back. I hope they allow their patients to have the full treatment options now and in the future. I wish them well. read more

I unfortunately had the most uncomfortable dentist experience of my life at Cosmo Smiles. The office staff is friendly. However, their care is lacking as well as their options for patients and the quality of services vs prices when compared to other dentist offices. When I say options for patients, I was advised to get lots of dental work done for very minor dental issues. I have been advised by other dentists that these things are not necessary. I was initially going to leave this out of my review but I see that others have had a similar experience. This dentist office charges $9 more for a standard xray & cleaning than the dentist office closest to them. ($200) I decided to move forward anyway because the location was so convenient for me. While the staff was reasonably kind, they were so rough with me during the X-ray and cleaning. It was truly so bad that I almost left before my cleaning but decided to stick it out just incase there were any cavities etc. through the examination process, I was poked and prodded with a needle like tool in all of my gums above my teeth a minimum of 2-3 times each. None of my previous dentists have ever used this tool in such a painful manner. Even during my cleaning, the dental assistant was not attentive to using any of their tools to suck the excess water from my mouth and I was splashed over and over. Five hours after a standard cleaning, my teeth are incredibly sensitive. They are NEVER sensitive. Next, I was given a quote for filling a few cavities. . . $2,000 out of pocket. I have had several cavities before in recent years and paid under $1,000. Overall, I am thoroughly unimpressed and displeased. read more

I've used Cosmo Smiles for a few years now due to convenience. It's easy to get an appointment and all of their staff is friendly. Their staff has been good about helping me sort through billing issues. Appointments go quickly, which I suppose could be a good or bad thing. I had a cleaning scheduled and a few weeks before the appointment, they called to tell me "You had two cavities found at your last appointment, would you like to have them filled when you come for your cleaning?" Um, yes? I don't know why this wasn't brought up to me before, or maybe they told me but why didn't they schedule it? Weird. My partner also goes here and he feels that they try to push extra services. read more

I'm 55 years old. I've had many dental appointments. I think her name was doctor Kuar . I should have confirmed. Anyway, this isn't the normal dental visit. Most tell me I have some issues. She pointed out exactly what I already knew gathered from four prior dentists. They were all good. I certainly would recommend any of them. However, if you care about your teeth in a way I do , go to this place. I haven't been with other dentists so I would wait for this particular one. I will say she is the best dentist I've ever had, but its more than that. read more

I've been coming to Dr. Kaur for a few years now and have found the office to provide excellent service. She and her team are always transparent about treatment options and pricing, which is nice because sometimes you run across dentists who try to obscure these things. The front desk staff are also super friendly and make it a pleasure to go in. Cosmo Smiles is a little out of the way for me and is the only non-D.C. part of my medical team, but I'm happy to come down here to see Dr. Kaur (it's only a six-minute walk from Crystal City Metro). read more

Beware! I travel to Virginia frequently, so this is not my primary dentist. Dr. Kaur pushed multiple procedures on me. I got concerned, so I asked them to send the plan of care to my permanent dentist. My permanent dentist was concerned about the aggressive treatment and the unusually high cost of what he assessed were unnecessary procedures. I decided against the treatments. Now I'm getting nuisance calls--almost daily--from Cosmo Smiles--trying to schedule a cleaning for me.visit. I told them I'm not interested, but they kept calling. However, the $1,950 I was quoted to fill two small cavities made my head spin . I had perfectly fine visits with both Dr. Kaur and Dr. Enoch previously, however, after my most recent experience with a male dentist (who is, unfortunately not listed on the website and I couldn't understand when he said his name) on July 5, I will no longer be coming to this facility, and I will strongly encourage anyone looking for a dental office to avoid this office as well. I had a 10:15am appointment (I received no fewer than 6 text messages in the upcoming days before my appointment reminding me of the 10:15am appointment. I received a phone call from the office at around 9:45 am saying that my appointment was at 9:30am and I was late. Nothing came of this no late fee and I was still seen) but this is simply where the incompetence this day began. I was taken back shortly after I arrived at 10am. Everything went fine with the hygienist, who took x-rays saying that it had been a year since my last ones. The dentist (again the male dentist that is not on the website) came in and said that Dr. Kaur was at the other office today, Dr. Enoch was on maternity leave "so you get me". The exam went fine with him telling me while I was sitting in the chair that I had "perfect teeth and no cavities". On my way out he said "see you in six months", and I scheduled for six months and went on my way. Flash forward to 2 days later on July 7. I received a phone call from the office confirming my upcoming appointment on July 12 to have 2 cavities filled. I said that I had not made any appointment for cavities because I was told I had none. The woman on the phone insisted my chart showed 2 cavities and that I must have made the appointment for the fillings because "the office would not schedule you for an appointment without discussing it with you first". Accordingly, I informed her that's absolutely what happened. After going back and forth for a minute, she transferred me to a "Brenda" at the office who went over my chart with me and again said I have two cavities. She said, "well he may have told you that you have perfect teeth but you have 2 cavities", which does not even make sense. She did not even seem fazed when I told her if, in fact, I did have 2 cavities it is extremely unprofessional to not disclose this at the time of the visit and arbitrarily schedule an appointment for fillings. She made a note on my file that the dentist would call me on Wednesday (7/12) when he was back in the office. In the meantime, I wrote an email requesting in writing that I be given an explanation for this situation and a written estimate of the work that would need to be done. This email was written on 7/7 and as of 7/12 has yet to be answered. After paying $213 (I don't have dental insurance) I spent an additional $87 on 7/11 to get new x-rays and a second opinion done at DC Dental Spa. Not only did this cost me $300 total but also took up a great deal of my time. Anyways, on 7/11 I had x-rays done at DC Dental Spa and reviewed them with the dentist, Dr. Hoang. He confirmed that I have no cavities, which, of course, I was happy to hear. On 7/12, the male dentist from Cosmo Smiles called me back and said my chart shows 2 small cavities. He insisted we must have discussed this in the room. I told him we absolutely did not discuss this or I would have gotten pricing information from the front desk instead of simply scheduling a 6 month appointment. I suggested he mixed my chart up with someone else's chart. He basically had nothing else to say and said he would "review my chart". I am not sure if this was simply incompetence or a scam to try to get me to have dental procedures that I do not need. As I told the male dentist, I am inclined to believe Dr. Hoang because 1. I saw the x-rays personally (which I did not at Cosmo Smiles) and 2. Dr. Hoang had more to gain by telling me I had cavities but he was honest and confirmed I did not. I can assure Cosmo Smiles that they lost a patient (although I cannot imagine they care much) after this debacle. While I had no issues with Dr. Kaur or Dr. Enoch, I strongly recommend individuals are cautious if they continue to patronize this practice. read more

I've never had a negative dentist experience until coming to Cosmo Smiles. My first few appointments were relatively positive experiences. However, my last appointment was very upsetting for a few reason: 1) My hygienist was very rough and unprofessional. When polishing my teeth, she cut my inner lip and gums. She also did not understand my frantic requests for her to stop! At one point there was so much polish in my mouth, I felt like I was choking. 2) They lost my x-rays. During my first appointment, I was told I had 5 cavities! I had never had a cavity before and was very shocked. However, I agreed to have them filled. During my next appointment, I was told I had additional cavities. Hesitant to get more fillings, I asked Cosmo Smiles to send my x-rays to another dentist office, so I could get a second opinion. But, the x-rays were lost....my medical records were either lost or are being withheld. This was not only upsetting, but also completely eroded my trust. 3) During my first few appointments, I was seen by Dr. Kaur, so I was surprised and upset when I was given another dentist without any explanation. I am particular about my dentist and did not appreciate the surprise and the utter lack of communication/consideration. read more

Had a solid first experience here for a cleaning and basic X-rays and ability to reschedule with a few days notice. They weren't too crazy with trying to push extra X-rays. Just frustrating to find out on the day of my next cleaning that my insurance isn't accepted anymore. Despite having reservations about switching to their office from my previous dentist, I was immediately glad I made the switch. Everyone in the office is great. I've had such bad experiences with dental offices, mainly the front desk not entering/using insurance & things like that. Front desk staff here is friendly. Hygienists are great at what they do. I've never had a better experience with xrays than here. And the dentist, wow, so down to earth. She spent a lot of time explaining things & answered my questions. Usually you see the actual dentist for two seconds. Lastly, they don't do anything w/o checking with your insurance first. I've been going to Cosmo Smiles for about a year and a half now, and I have been extremely satisfied with the service I've gotten. The hygienists are all very pleasant and do a thorough job without being too rough. I also really like Dr. Kaur. She is very personable has been very honest in terms of giving me treatment options (i.e. I have never felt like I was being upsold on anything.) The only slight issue I've had was scheduling through ZocDoc, which doesn't always sync correctly with their scheduling system. So there have been times when I've been called saying that the time I booked on ZocDoc is actually not available. However, the front staff is fantastic and has always gotten me in the same day that I wanted. Overall, though, love the service and will keep coming back here! read more

I went to Dr. Kaur in 2016 bc she was on my Obamacare plan list of doctors. I just went for a cleaning and to look at a tooth that had a broken crown. Dr. gave me a huge plan for over $3000 of work that, to my surprise, included four fillings for cavities I didn't know I had. A week later I went back to my longtime dentist in Fairfax for a second opinion (she is a top dentist just not covered on Obamacare). She showed me in detail on my x-rays, there were clearly no cavities at all, did not even need one filling let alone four. read more
