Really wish we can get back to the days of reliable booking. I received a call from Carla 2/23/18 1:06pm asking that I change my appointment on 2/24/18 at 12:45 pm to 2:00pm. I called back and said sure. The day was for my fiancé and I to receive mani/pedis for his birthday. Once we arrived, our names were written on a notepad as if we didn't have appointments. We were told that our techs (Ryan and Bella)had taken on extra bookings and were backed up. ‍They offered me yet another later time. I declined since we had dinner reservations at 5pm. Needless to say, my fiancé went without his services in order for me to take the next available tech. I was not offered a discount due to Cosmopolitan's faulty booking. Jessie, the owner of this salon, frequently ignores appointments and places walk-ins as a priority in front of clients with appointments. She assumes she can just "reschedule" you with someone else, which defeats the entire purpose of making an appointment. The nail techs are good, but the salon owner leaves much to be desired in terms of customer service. I had an appointment scheduled with a nail tech of my choosing. Jessie decided to place a walk-in in front of my appointment which resulted in me not being seen by the person I scheduled the appointment with until an hour after my scheduled time. read more

Got my nails done there today August 16th - at first they looked fine - now the polish is has bubbles under it?! Don't understand what's happening I'm going to go back there first thing in the morning to see if they can fix it. Nail polish has why looks like bubbles in it and the polish looks uneven. The plus is that the guy Jason who helped me was nice, he did a good job shaping my nails and the place was super clean. They even use disposable bags in the tubs for pedicures. Overall, I've had great services at Cosmopolitan. Some techs definitely put in more time and effort than others. But most of my gel manicures have lasted a reasonable amount of time. The salon is very clean. I always enjoy appointments with Ly. When she does my gel, it always seems to last longer. She also gives a killer foot massage! The noise can get a loud on busy days and I do sometimes feel like they are pushing extra services on me. read more

There is no point in making an appointment here. You will consistently wait for at least 30 minutes past your appointment time - I'm currently waiting for 55 minutes past my appointment time. If I didn't have a wedding this weekend I would walk out. It's a nice atmosphere, but your money (they're quite pricey) is better spent elsewhere. I have been going to Cosmopolitan Nail Lounge for years. On Saturday, 17th of July one of the receptionist/ front desk helper was very unprofessional. While, my wonderful nail tech (Nina) was doing my nails. She brought a machine for me to pay. My nail tech told her " her nails are wet". The front desk worker left the machine and went to the front desk. About 10 minutes the front desk helper came back to retrieve the machine credit/ debit machine . My nails was still being worked on. When my nail was finished I went to the ladies room. This front desk worker was watching me. I do not appreciate how she wanted me to pay while my nails were wet. It was 2 other ladies getting their nails done and I was the only one she bought the debit /credit machine to. The time was about 6:45 pm. My appointment ran late. If, this was my first time. I would not come back. She was trying to rush me to pay with wet nails. I like Cosmopolitan and never ran it to someone so rude. read more

To start, I didn't have an appointment so I'm thankful they could be so flexible for 2 pedicures. However, that is where the the positive part of the experience ends. The first time I went here they pressured me into getting gel instead of a normal manicure and the it was more money than I thought they said it was. But I decided to give them the benefit the doubt that maybe I misheard, and my pedicure was good so I went back. The second time I went I had an appointment and still had to wait 30 minutes. The pedicure was fine but the during the manicure when cutting my cuticles the technician kept nicking my fingers. I had cuts all over my hand and they got infected. Never going back. The pedicure was fine. I didn't need anything fancy, that's what I got. I was pleased that as a walk-in I didn't have to wait. I would not recommend the waxing service. Nothing done to clean my skin, wax was in the hair on my head--and it wasn't supposed to be. The woman never introduced herself, asked if I was ok, nothing. Very impersonal. Yesterday I went to this nail salon that I go too all the time, Tam usually do my eyebrows but I decided to let someone name Nora do them because Tam had a client. I usually make an appointment but I was in the area so I dropped in. Well, upon Nora doing my brows I asked her did she know what she was doing and reassured me that she did, well needless to say she didn't she rushed through them and gave me a bald spot my eyebrows looked terrible like something out of a sci fi movie. I was so angry !! The manager wasn't there and the receptionist came over and said she didn't see anything wrong with them really well a choice word clearly you can't see. I walked out and I'm just going to stick with Tam if I decide to go back. But please do not get your brows done by Nora unless you want to look like a cartoon character!! I really wanted to like this place because of its convenience and ability to make appointments online, however I was super disappointed. I went in to get dip removed and just get a regular manicure. The receptionist was not friendly to start, and after my hands soaked in acetone for 15 mins to remove the dip, I was never given any lotion or anything and left with my hands extremely dry and cracking (after a manicure???). To top it off, I waited double the amount of time I was told to wait to dry my nails, and yet it ended up getting so ruined so quickly I just took the polish off when I got home. read more

The first time I came here, I had an okay experience. But last time was a nightmare. My mom and I had appointments. We showed up on time and still waited 45 minutes to sit down for pedi. The nail technicians were in such a rush, it was often painful. When they finished the pedi, they just started the mani in the pedi chairs, since the salon was overbooked and jam packed. The technician started pushing my cuticles BEFORE even soaking them. I told her she was hurting me and she was snappy like "do you want me to cut your cuticles or not?" I just asked her to please be more gentle. She wasn't and cut me TWICE. The cuticle on my middle finger bled for almost an hour. The polish was also kind of a mess. I will never come back here. I have come to Cosmopolitan Nail Lounge a few times for SNS manicures with a different technician each time. The level of service definitely depends on the manicurist, but I've come out with great end results each time. My SNS manicures from here have lasted 3 weeks, which is great for me as my nails grow quickly and I'm very hard on them. I would definitely make an appointment ahead of time, as it tends to get very busy particularly during peak evening hours. I had to wait beyond my appointment time (20 minutes), however they provided a discount to compensate my wait, which other salons haven't done. read more

I had been to this spot two times before (to get acrylic set/fill) and it went okay so I decided to go again to get a gel polish change on my natural nails. I had an appointment but somehow when I arrived there were no stations available and I had to wait about 15-20 minutes, then when they did take me, she had to start my nails at the pedicure chair because we couldn't sit down at a station. (Again, I had an appointment) We were finally able to switch to a nail station and resume normally. During the process, I did feel like I should've kept my hands under the gel light more than once per layer (as I always have previously at other salons I've been to) but the tech seemed rushed because of the busy-ness and sometimes didn't even let the timer go off before having me switch hands. Needless to say, I paid full price and tipped appropriately. However, less than ONE WEEK later, my gel polish has started to chip and flake as if it's regular color. And exactly one week in, several of my nails are chipped and I have had to peel off the remaining color (and yes it peeled right off) **photo included I'm not sure if it's the rushing, or if they are mixing gel with regular color or not using cheaper, improper products, but it's the FIRST time my nails have chipped from gel (as opposed to just grow out from the cuticle like normal) and i now have to go to another salon to get them re-done. $30+ down the drain. On the plus side, the location is very convenient and the decor is cute but I would NOT recommend for gel manicures, (especially at $38 price point for the full manicure) maybe you'll be okay with acrylic + gel but you have been warned. read more

This is one of my go to nail salons as it right in the neighbor and really gives that spa feel. They always offer a glass of wine or some chilled champagne to make for the experience. I've always gone to Jessie who has such a eye for detail and great conversation. She got me started on SNS and I am not hooked. This salon gets really busy but they seem to manage it well. I love the new color options they consistently have. Parking is somewhat of an issue but the right time of day you are good to go! read more

Despite my one terrible experience which ruined my nails for months, I have still found myself coming back out of convenience. Every other experience I have had has been positive. The staff is attentive and listens to what I want, and most of my SNS manicures have lasted a good 4 weeks without ruining my nails. I am still nervous about having my nails ruined again, so I stick to people I know when I came - Jason, Sunny, and Tina all do a great job. I received a gel manicure here with a friend of mine. We walked in and got in right away and I received one of the best gel manicures ever!! It was fast. Thorough. It lasted two weeks. I came back a second time and got another gel manicure that lasted less than 24 hours. Polish on one nail lifted and peeled off. Then the next day it happened again to another nail. This place is nice but nothing special for the price. The quality of service depends on your tech. You're looking at about 50/50 chance of quality nails. They do SNS manicures which is great, but some techs have no clue what I'm doing. My nails after my most recent visit are actually pretty atrocious. The tech failed to even file them down as he was supposed to and they started lifting after just a week. They are super busy on weekends so make an appointment (though doesn't mean you'll be sat on time). Also take into consideration they charge for removal of your previous color so add on $5 for that. read more

I have passed this place several times and always noticed that people seem to flock here. I finally decided to swing by and see what the fuss was all about. I made an appointment through yelps app and the process was very user friendly. This allowed me to add different services and even includes the prices so you can get an idea of how much you'll be spending. When I arrived they knew me by name and got me straight in the chair. To my delight, I was offered a beverage before we got started. When I moved from the pedi chair to get my manicure, I hit my toe on the chair and messed up my big toe. The sweet technician that didn't flinch and fixed it right away. She was very accommodating and didn't make me feel like I was a burden. I received a manicure, pedicure and wax and was out in about 90 minutes. If you are ever in Navy Yard, I highly recommend this place. read more

I wish I had read reviews before my husband and I spent $33 each on pedicures. The technicians spent a total of 25 minutes on our pedicures. My husband, who is a soccer player, has terrible calluses. His feet look just as bad as before we went to Cosmopolitan Nail Lounge. The pedicure massage lasted about 1 minute. For $33, I'd expect much more. Not to be a complete snob, but the white wine was shockingly bad and tasted like it had been open in the fridge for over a week. Now that I read other reviews, I'm reminded of the only other time I've come to the nail salon, my mom and I were told over the phone we could walk in. We arrived 15 minutes later and the wait was 45 minutes. Two stars because it was a clean facility. UPDATE: My toenail chipped 5 days later. I went back to have it fixed. The technician attempted to just cover up the chip with polish. To make it worse, he tried to fix my toe while I was still standing by the front door. I insisted he do the whole toe over. He was so mad, he didn't say anything to me. Then just walked away when he was done, never saying a word. I also saw him nearly knock over the front desk receptionist while running around and trying to speed up what I needed done. This place needs to get their priorities straight. My last visit to Cosmopolitan Nail Lounge was a huge let down. I've gotten a gel mani and gel pedi three or four times from this place and haven't been disappointed. I had every intention on getting a relaxing gel pedicure along with a gel manicure, but my last visit was different. Walked in right at 10am when they opened and didn't receive a warm welcome from the receptionist. Once I started looking at the gel polish colors, the tech came over to me and what felt like forced me to pick a color from the OPI spin wheel, therefore I didn't have a chance to look at all the gel colors I wanted to. When getting my pedicure, it was more rushed than anything. A large party walked in when the nail lounge opened too so I'm not sure if that was a factor or not. After the pedicure quickly wrapped up I moved to the nail tech station. Nothing special there. The whole appointment lasted only about 50 minutes or so, which I thought in the past lasted longer. Two days after, my gel nail polish chipped on my thumb and started lifting in the corner of my middle finger. They have a one week grace period so I went back Tuesday evening to get my two nails fixed. The nail tech only filed my chipped nail down, and filed my thumb and middle finger nails, repainted the gel and added top coat instead of removing the gel polish and putting on a fresh coat. After she asked me how it looked and I expressed my concern that I was going on vacation and worried about the polish lifting. She assured me that wouldn't happen. Lo and behold, the next day my chipped thumb started lifting. Gel polish is suppose to last for two weeks and in the past when I got my nails done at this place, it lasted over two weeks. Getting your nails done isn't cheap and I expect better quality and service. Needless to say I'm very disappointed by my last visit and will not be going back. read more

I went here after work because it was the closest nail salon to my office. It's conveniently located not too far from the metro, and it's near a lot of the restaurants in navy yard. I was able to walk in and get an appointment right away on a Friday night, and it was pretty busy for a Friday night. It definitely had a very strong nail salon smell, which isn't the best. The guy who did my nails was pretty nice (I'm sorry I forgot your name), and he fixed them when they got messed up while drying. It was a little more on the expensive side, and I wouldn't say it was totally worth it. I'll probably go again in a crunch, but I think I might try to find another salon to go to next time read more

I feel that I am doing my civic duty to forewarned you if you are planning to go to Cosmopolitan Nail Lounge at the Navy Yard, so you can make an informed decision whether or not to spend unnecessary money for better service at another nail salon, because I had a jaw dropping moment when this business decided to add an additional $18.00 to my bill for nail polish. THAT'S RIGHT $18 additional to have your toes or nails polished; THIS IS INSANE. I am a pampered female, but I did not appreciate Cosmopolitan Nail adding $18.00 to my bill when it was time for me to pay. Oh, trust me, they do not mentioned it you, because they know anyone who is familiar with the Metropolitan Area in DC, MD, & VA, would cancel and go to another fabulous establishment that can offer the same service without the $18.00 cost for nail polish. The Navy Yard is a wonderful area to dine and unwind, but going to Cosmopolitan Nail Lounge for service should be your last option. There are so many other wonderful nail establishments/businesses that will welcome your business without the additional $18.00 to polish your nails for a finished look. I was STUNNED, and OFFENDED when I saw my bill and questioned the $18.00 for nail polish. I was told even if you bring your own nail polish, Cosmopolitan Nail Lounge will still charge you the additional $18.00 to polish your nails. I will NEVER, EVER go back to Cosmopolitan Nail Lounge for service. I had a great experience with Lena whom performed my Tropical Twist Pedicure $50.00, and Acrylic Fill-in $25.00, and I was okay with the Cut Down $5.00; but the additional $18.00 for nail polish, is insane, and no one in their right mind should accept that fee. Oh, by the way, the $18.00 was for regular nail polish. They have different prices for their nail polish. So it is $18.00 for nail polish, plus another $15.00 if you choose another color outside of the regular nail polish, so it would be $18 + $15 = $33.00 (for nail polish); THIS IS BOGUS, damn right shameful. read more

The manager(?) is rude and condescending and that's really what was the last straw. The service is inconsistent and service is net net, subpar - some techs are great, others are certainly not . My SNS lasted 6 days. I was told on the phone it would be redone and taken care of, however that wasn't the case when I got there, although it fell within their policy to be corrected at no charge. I'd even accept a significant discount (~50%) and was going to get other services, at full price of course. Yet the discount offered was a joke (again, although the my issue fell within the policy). As others have mentioned, there's no regard for loyal/repeat customers and there's some shady business practices. I'm happy to take my business elsewhere.
