3/5 Stars When you first walk in, nobody really looks happy to be there, and unfortunately, I didn't feel welcomed with a genuine, heartwarming smile. I could immediately sense that the atmosphere wasn't filled with much peace, unity, or enjoyment among the employees/team. My personal motto is always to treat each and every guest equally and fairly -- or, as I like to say, "Mi Casa, Su Casa." I believe every guest should feel welcomed, respected, and valued from the moment they walk through the door. When I was ready to place my order, the employee automatically assumed that I was only ordering for myself rather than asking whether I was ordering for more than one person. Once I explained that I was placing a second order for another family member, her demeanor changed. She rolled her eyes, appeared frustrated, and became rude and impatient, which made me feel as though I was being rushed out of her way. Honestly, I didn't understand what the issue was. There was also an issue regarding the toppings on my order. Instead of asking me what I wanted or offering me different options, the employee instructed her team to put the toppings she wanted on my order. When I requested a different topping, they were preparing to remove a large portion of the food to make the adjustment. Rather than having them waste the food, I asked them to simply put the requested topping on top of what I already had. I was disappointed with how the situation was handled because I truly believe it could have been resolved in a much more positive and guest-focused manner. I do want to acknowledge the other employees who were genuinely trying to take their time and help me. They could tell that I was already having a less-than-positive experience, and I appreciated their efforts. Unfortunately, when my second order was being prepared for my family member, a similar situation occurred. Again, I was asked about toppings but wasn't given much guidance or recommendations beyond the basics. I felt like I was given the bare minimum rather than being made to feel like a valued guest. The main reason for my 3/5-star rating is because I understand that nobody is perfect and that mistakes happen. I also understand that everyone has a bad day. With that said, I genuinely see potential in this establishment, and I believe there are opportunities to improve both customer service and product knowledge. Guests should be given the opportunity to make their own choices, especially when it comes to toppings and customizing their orders. Instead of rushing guests or making decisions for them, employees should take a moment to explain the available options, make recommendations, and make the experience enjoyable. My coworker and I realized we had not been here in a while so we went for lunch. The customer service is wonderful. The female employee that took our order and prepared our food was super friendly as soon as we walked up. The male employee who rang up our order was just as personable. I had the Grilled Steak Enchiladas. I like that you can choose what you like to customize your order. I choose the flour tortillas, the cilantro lime rice, and refried beans. I also had the roasted green chile sauce and the pico de gallo. I loved everything about my enchiladas. The Mango Specialty drink was not too sweet; very refreshing. I was surprised to see Key Lime Pie on their menu. It's one of my favorite desserts so had to get it and it was delicious! They keep the food line very organized and clean. Just opened 3 weeks ago! The inside is very nice and well lit, and the staff was exceptionally kind. The manager was especially welcoming! Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the expectations. The best was the sweet pork but was very, very sweet...you also have to pay extra for the sour cream and guac, even when you get the meal. The chile lime chicken was very salty, and my friend did not finish it. The honey butter shrimp tasted like Lays honey BBQ chips but with shrimp flavor. Lastly, the queso that came with the chips and queso was grainy and tasted off. I feel bad since the staff was so kind, but the food was disappointing. May or may not come back. read more

Costa Vida is one of my go to restaurants and I've been coming here pretty frequently with my boyfriend and never had a bad experience until tonight. I had an email with a buy one entree get one free that expired tonight. The app is frustrating as there is no where for me to enter the code and when I've previously gone they said I didn't need to show the coupon code as it should be connected to my rewards number. I've had it not work in the past and showed the email, but have gotten mixed messages on how to actually use the code that is provided in the email when I order in store. When ordering, I got a Baja bowl and my boyfriend got nachos. They were a bit busy with a few orders ahead of us and when my boyfriend's nachos went through the warmer to melt the cheese, it got stuck half way in since there was another order blocking it from going out which led to it being burnt. We asked if we could get another one, but the worker didn't seem happy at all to redo the nachos. Chris sort of shrugged and sighed heavily as he threw the nachos away in the trash pretty forcefully with an attitude while another lady remade it. When she had asked what kind of nachos they were he was rude to her and was like I don't know? The second nachos my boyfriend ordered almost got burnt again until we said something for them to remove it from The warmer. Some of the chips were a bit burnt, but not as burnt as the previous one. When Chris came back he helped me build my Baja bowl, but I was already feeling upset just from the attitude alone. As he was helping me, no smile, no conversation and when he was tossing the ingredients into the bowl, I just felt attitude and I just felt pretty disrespected. I've never felt that way here as the staff was always so kind so it was shocking to me. I was looking forward to my meal and my appetite before even starting just disappeared. It was the one time I forgot my phone at home and I mentioned to Chris that I couldn't scan the app, but instead used my phone number. I asked about the buy one get one free entree as I had an email about it expiring today so I thought it should've been connected to the app, but he said normally they show the email to get it. I was a bit confused as I said above I got mixed messages about using the app and the emails since they don't automatically pop up and there's no where for me to add it. Instead of explaining or walking me through it in a kind way, I just felt attitude like I was being told to shut up and just pay. I paid and tried to eat. The food didn't taste the same as it normally does and the rice was not cooked as pieces were still hard and not their normal texture. I didn't even finish my food and threw it away. Today was my first day, stopping here, 1live minutes away. I tried the enchiladas one was cheese and one was chicken. The chicken was so moist so tender. I truly enjoyed it. The sauces are packed with flavor. The customer service is fantastic. They made my tortillas as I waited. You can dine in or carry it to go. I never give five stars, but I was pleasantly surprised! Costa Vida is one of the newer additions to the area surrounding UNLV. Always on the look out for a new place to try, I came in for lunch to check it out. Initial impressions give me a beach vibe. Bright and vibrant. Second thought is that this place is like a cross between Chipotle and Cafe Rio. Better than Cafe Rio in my opinion but similar in design. I ordered a Baja Bowl on this occasion. A base of rice and black beans. Beef barbacoa for the protein. Some sort of green salsa to sause it up. Then some cheese to tie it all together. I had it topped with lettuce, crispy tortilla strips and sour cream. There was a lot packed into this bowl and it was pretty darn filling. Flavors were good. The food did not seem as salty as Cafe Rio which is a good thing. The beef barbacoa, while very tender, did not have quite as much flavor as the same option from Chipotle. Good though. More in tune with my palette. I mixed everything together to maximize the enjoyment. Costa Vida is in a strange location on Flamingo near University Center Drive. It doesn't really have a direct drive way of its own. Rather you enter down by the gas station on the corner and use the access road to reach the restaurnt. The parking lot is a bit tight and only travels one direction. There may be a drive thru option as well. Or a pick up lane at the very least. So make your way over. Check out the food. I hadn't heard about this chain until I saw a Facebook ad - friends from AZ and UT raved about it, but everything about this place is eerily similar to Cafe Rio. The "Costa" in the name made me think they'd have more of a seafood focus here but they only have one shrimp protein choice, so I'm a little confused. I went in for the first time and struck up conversation in line with a fan who raved about their pork, but I got a salad with their raspberry chicken, which was served with the raspberry sauce poured on top rather than the chicken cooked in the sauce? The salad itself was fine, though I felt like there was less lettuce and "salad" components than I receive at Cafe Rio. The salad is otherwise served the exact same way, in a round metal tin with a tortilla on the bottom, all the hot ingredients added to your specification along the line, then topped with the cold ingredients, served with a cilantro ranch or vinaigrette. Portion was a good size for a filling lunch and I had leftovers. I also tried their limeade, and that was really good - and I'm not one to usually get sweet drinks. Service was friendly and attentive throughout, with staff monitoring the dining room, cleaning tables as they were vacated and offering handouts about the app and various promos. Hopefully this location does well so they can add more around town. They do have a double drive thru for convenience - be careful driving through their lot though, as it tips right into a steep ditch if you happen to go too far. This is my boyfriend and I's first time coming to Costa Vida! We're always looking for new Mexican places to try that fit into his diet and my need for unique flavors. Ordering was super easy and the team was more than happy to accomidate my cilantro allergy. They also recommend some of their own favorite menu items to give us both options. The store wasn't very busy so we had free reign of seating with nice and clean tables and chairs. I even signed up for their rewards program. Already can't wait for my next taste of the coast!!
