As far as the many fresh-mex establishments in town, this is one of the better ones. Personally, I like it better than Cafe-Rio but I understand feelings go both ways. Costa Vida is unique in the fact that you can get smaller portions than at other fresh mex places. They don't have salmon as a protein and that is a little disappointing but their pork, steak, and chicken are every bit as good as other places. As with any quick-food establishment, employee turnover is high so your experience will differ from week to week but my most recent visit was nice. The dining area was spotless and the nice windows of this corner location make it a great place for lunch. I like the Baja Bowls with a side of chips and queso. I'm not usually one to write scathing reviews. Being in the service industry myself, I don't always think they're very constructive. But who cares?! My experience at this particular Costa Vida location deserves mentioning. As I approach the counter to order my food, I was not greeted, not even with a smile or anything. Then the young guy taking my order was very abrupt, very very rude. He was not friendly. He was rude to the lady after me and practically yelled and the guy after her! I truly wanted to tell the manager that his boy needed a serious attitude adjustment. I refrained. Maybe he was having a bad day. As I moved down the line, none of the other employees were terribly friendly either. Then I got to the cashier and she didn't say one word to me. Just took my money, and sent me on my way. I took my food to go and the ONLY reason this review has two stars instead of one is that my food luckily tasted good. I had cheese enchiladas with medium sauce and an order of chips and queso. I order online, said it would be ready in ten minutes, showed up 20 minutes after placing the order. My order had not even been made. They were busy, so the checkout guy went over and told one of the employees I was here and I thought he was working on my order, nope. I had to remind the staff 3 times that I was here to pick up my online order!!! 30 minutes later I was out the door. What the hell is the point of online ordering if you have to wait this long? This Costa Vida NEVER gets our order correct. Online or in store. Even when I'm standing in front of the worker ordering they still put the wrong items. It is so sad to see this establishment go so down hill. It was a local favorite, but now all the locals just avoid it. read more

While I might be biased because my regular CV spoils us I had mixed feelings about our experience at this location. The atmosphere was pleasing. Nice neighborhood and the restaurant was nice and clean. The manager however was much more focused on what the company wants as opposed to making the customer happy. We wanted a bean and cheese burrito for my sons kids meal and were told (with a smile on his face) that he couldn't do that cause the tortillas were too small. I can think of several fixes immediately that would make this a wonderful experience for any customer. Maybe use two small tortillas like you did for my daughters taco OR use a full size tortilla and cut it down. Don't tell the customer they can't have something. Give us options and try to be a people person. P.S. My wife said its weird that they don't have kids bean and cheese burritos on the menu in the first place. Way to narrow your market. read more

The food is great and usually the customer service is good except for a short black hair unshaven teenager with glasses named Brendin or Brandon, he hide his name tag and walked off after being extremely rude. However, when I ordered online the website allowed me to pay for extra salsa but would not let me pay for extra sour cream. But wisely there was a section for special requests like "Extra sour cream". When I picked up my order first words "you asked for extra salsa and sour cream, however I am not not giving you extra cause you didn't pay for it." I had to point out on my receipt the extra salsa, 55 cent charge. He then said " Well your still not getting the extra sour cream." No sorry, no it will be another 55 cents for that sour cream. Just rudeness, talked to his coworkers and all they could say about him is he is a jerk and horrible to work with. If the manager is reading this, please train that boy that his snooty and rude attitude isn't allowed towards customers. Sincerely someone who does eat there regularly. read more

I can seriously always make a case to husband to get Costa Vida. I love Mexican food and realizing this might not be authentic, it is dang good for the price and taste. They have a wide variety of different food but my favorite is a sweet pork & shrimp burrito. You literally can't go wrong with anything on their menu. My wife and I ordered from this restaurant through Grubhub 3 different times. Each time the order was delivered, the food we got had the same error. We had been advised that, since we ordered through a third party, the mistake was Costa Vida's responsibility. We had been offered compensation for these mistakes but never received it. Since Costa Vida clearly cannot get our order correct, and since they didn't appear to be concerned about getting the order right, we probably will not be ordering from them again. read more

Everyone always says how much they love Cafe Rio and I've always thought they were overpriced, stingy and charge you for every extra thing. Plus, Costa's beef is ! I have always loved and will always choose Costa Vida over CR bc they are always so nice about everything: from switching things up mid order or giving me a little ranch on my side lettuce for a burrito to adding a tiny extra lettuce cause I didn't get sour cream or something like that. CR charges you loads for any tiny extra, bugs me soooo bad! My dad came home the other day with a $13 burrito cause he wanted a scoop of guacamole and a tiny extra sauce on top So thank you Costa Vida for always serving the people and making them happy without overcharging and always having smiling faces! read more

I have never eaten at Costa Vida before today, I usually go to Cafe Rio when I want fast casual Mexican. I decided I would give it a try. I was not impressed. I came when it was slow. There were a few people in line ahead of me and they were pretty quick about getting the food out. I paid and sat down. As I started to eat my sweet pork salad I thought it tasted fine. Nothing special, it needed something more. As I got down further into my salad, into the meat, (usually my FAVORITE part) I kept getting slimy pieces of meat and big slimy pieces of fat from the meat. Not very appetizing for a salad. After a couple bites of this, and before I started to gag, I scraped all my meat/lettuce out and just ate the beans, rice and tortilla. I was not happy about this. I basically paid $12 for a some rice, beans, and a tortilla. The store was clean and the people were pretty friendly but the food was not good. I think I'll stick with my roots and go to Cafe Rio from now on. read more

We have been to cafe rio 2x in the last 2 weeks and they have not only messed up our orders. One time they didn't give us the food but still charged us the $73. The 2nd time they would t apply the 50% off for being a medical worker they also charged us for food we didn't get. They also made us wait for food that was ready but the guy who was taking the orders to the cars couldn't handle the job so he was just standing looking at all the orders that were ready. I've been to this Costa Vida a few times and I like it more and more every time. I especially love the mango and habanero salsas that I can add to my salads! My least favorite part, however, is I feel like their tortillas are a bit thin and they're not crisped up/grilled with cheese before the toppings for a salad go on. Which makes it soggy pretty quick. Really I go here for a couple of reasons. Convenience and it's not as crowded as Cafe Rio. The food is good but I can't really say that it's much different from Cafe Rio. The Salads are great. Called in a order at 7:57 pm. Was told to pick it up in 20 minutes. We show up at 8:20 and proceeded to wait 10 minutes for them to make our food. Other customers waiting minutes in front of us for call in orders were offered free drinks. Customers that come in the store after we arrived had their food before we got ours! I asked the manager about why the issue. I was told "its only been 6 minutes of you waiting since you got here". 3 staff members were in the back laughing and playing around "making" our food. As we left costa in Orem.. We got home to find our orders were wrong. I am not certain the employees understand we can eat anywhere... We chose costa for the food and the service. Now we'll be choosing to eat else where. Beware this store. Its clear they don't care. read more

The guy who made our food was new but lacked common sense. He messed up our order and had to start over and then at one point he wiped the sweat off of his forehead with his hand and went back to make my husbands burrito. Luckily, the manager noticed and put a stop to it and threw away the burrito and she herself started it over and made my husbands order. The atmosphere is great and I love the sweet pork salad. This is the first time I have had less than a five star experience at this particular location but the manager came in and saved the day.
