I chose Costa Vida because of a gift card. I prefer Cafe Rio normally, but a discount is a discount. This location is neat and the dining area is nice, but the service here is below par. Our burritos were made somewhat sloppy, and when they were put in the warmer to melt the cheese, they sat there so long that they almost fell off. I was kind of hoping they would fall off the warmer just so they'd have to remake the burrito. For what it costs, Costa skimps on portion, and the employees here don't go the extra mile. read more

I would rate the vibe, décor and atmosphere of Costa Vida five stars. I love the beachy/surfer feel and they do a nice job of branding. Kudos to the marketing team. The food, however, leaves a little to be desired. I'm comparing the menu to Café Rio, which may or may not be fair-but that's my standard for rating all food in this genre (fast casual Mexican). I always order the same thing at both places too, so that makes it easier to compare. I ordered a chicken salad, and I was surprised at the size difference between large and small. There's a big difference-and the price is only $1 more for the large. Probably worth the Washington. * Some of the lettuce was wilted and soggy-I picked those pieces out. Another person in my party had the same issue and picked hers out as well. * The shell was disappointing-not only was it small-didn't cover the edges of the tin, but it was hard along the edges. I think it had sat out for awhile. * Finally, the chicken. The flavor was pretty good, but it was a bit dry. I appreciate how the Rio does a very moist, shredded chicken that leaves liquid at the bottom of the salad. That may just be my personal preference. I know that Costa Vida has a huge following-so it might just be me that doesn't care for the food. This location has significantly gone down in the last 2 years, customer service is the worst it has ever been, and the people are not very bright. I have been an active customer since the location opened and then moved away in 22, I recently moved back and it's very disappointing. There is no friendliness, or any proper customer service. This last visit the food experience was terrible, they're giving half the food they use to yet prices are still the same, I would expect that if extra cheese is requested then you would get cheese on top and bottom but when I received my food there was light cheese on the very bottom of the salad melted to the tin foil as I had the tortilla on the side, never in my life have I seen that and I am an active costa Vida customer whether it was here or somewhere else. The cheese is useless if it's stuck to tin foil. I honestly wasn't going to leave a review until I attempted to call into the store to speak with a manager (not to be an asshole) but to simply inform the management on what they are putting out so that hopefully they can make some sort of improvements or educate the employees just to find out you can no longer call in store which is ridiculous, you call the ext for the recent visit and no one answers or returns calls from voicemails. read more

This costa vida is consistently disappointing. They often get my order wrong or it's just very poorly made. Twice I've gone through the drive through and have come home with one of my tacos missing meat. Today was extra fun when both the tortillas were crispy and tasted stale. Costa Vida is one of my go-to places for quick food - enchiladas, smothered burritos, and salads. I like the grilled chicken or steak. Tender, flavorful meat. They have gluten free tortillas, and will wash and re-glove their hands before starting a gluten free order. This is huge in my book. Rewards program is great, easy to use. Usually a great location, I went through the drive through for the first time however and something smelled off when I opened the lid to eat my burrito. I could tell it tasted a little different as well, but I still ate it barely. I think it was the lettuce/pico because it had a thick creamy liquid with it that got mixed in with the burrito as I was eating it. Absolutely terrible experience. I used to love coming to Costa Vida but this single experience with these employees might just make me a cafe rio guy. Ordered my meal via drive through, asked for no cheese, stated dairy allergy. Checked order as we left, there was cheese on it. No big deal, most people get cheese on their orders, easy mistake SHOULD be an easy fix. Walk in, explain the situation, new girl goes up to Victoria who's on the line, tells her what happened. "Can't do anything without a receipt" I had the receipt showed them, she continued to make other orders and ignore ours, meanwhile our other food and family are getting cold outside. When I asked if they would make new ones, she promptly said "in a bit, I will." 15 minutes later, someone finally made my order and sent us on our way. I am a frequent traveler of costa Vida's through out utah and this location out shines the rest in every aspect but especially the quality of food and environment. It's always super clean and the staff are always super friendly and have the best personalities. My experience Is a 12/10 every time. Not once, not twice but THREE TIMES this has happened, where we will either call to confirm hours, or check the website for your hours and are repeatedly lied too. Today, we called due to it being a holiday, and wanted to make sure you were open. You told us you were open until 9pm. We arrive, and you tell us you closed at 8. Either we were lied to over the phone, or- you just simply didn't want to serve a paying customer. We're done. It's a shame too, because we actually love your food. I've always loved Costa Vida. But the last few times I've been so disappointed with my order. My queso is literally always gross and brown. There's chunks of old cheese mixed in and it tastes horrid.
