I love Costco in general and believe it's one of the best retailers around. They have a ton of great products, competitive pricing, and they're a just a good company in general. The company pays their employees well and has good benefits. They also provide a very good warranty for any product purchased at the store, I always prefer to make my big purchases here (such as refrigerator, bed, etc.). The West Ashley location is kind of a mad house. The parking lot, while quite large, is still a pain to get in and out of. The aisles are always packed and the food court almost never has seats available. This Costco is just really really popular, and they probably need another one in the area nearby. In contrast, the Mt Pleasant Costco always has tons of parking and is much more pleasant to shop at. The drive to Mt Pleasant is a bit too long for me so I still end up going to the West Ashley one most of the time. Overall I'm a huge fan of Costco as a business. This particular location is over crowded but it's still a Costco so it's solid. I hope they will consider adding another Costco in North Charleston or somewhere nearby to alleviate the congestion in the West Ashley location.

Absolutely love Costco. The standard of items is very high and I'm always very happy with the product. Whether it's furniture, clothing, or food, it's always great. Saturday morning in the West Ashleigh Costco is quite busy to say the least. Every single aisle was busy and the lines went halfway deep into the store, with about at least 10 to 12 people in every single checkout counter. This is probably a good problem to have, but be advised, it's probably best to not go there over the weekend if it can be helped. There was barely any parking available. I definitely love Costco, and I wish I could control my spending in there! Ha ha ha!

This was a great Costco visit! I'm not from the area, (but am very familiar with it) but I really enjoyed how this location incorporated the local vibes into the store! I mainly stopped to get gas and visit the food court, but was very impressed with this location. If I lived in Charleston, I'd be at this store every other day (at minimum!)

    Book section is abundant!

Love Costco, don't love Costco on a Saturday at Noon however lol. This location was well stocked, despite the high customer traffic. There are 4 kiosks at the food court but the process is disorganized with no designated waiting area for customers therefore creating a gaggle of people just standing everywhere. So happy to see there's still a book section with lots of options!! Some Midwest locations have done away with the books completely. Self checkout was seamless and the associate wiped off the scanning area without me having to ask (previous customer had wet food items and I had clothes). Attention to detail is always a win!

These come in cute small glass cups that you can reuse.

With hundreds of check-ins and photos, I've been a dedicated Costco member for years. Even as a two-person household, we renew every year with no hesitation. As a whole, Costco merchandise has always been a good value, but in recent years, the clothing has gotten more stylish. My husband recently bought new dress pants from Costco, and the pants look like department store style and quality. The clothes also work for Charleston- they carry a lot of dri-fit or golf styles for the hot weather. I purchased tires from Costco a few years ago, and the tires have a guarantee with free patches. If a tire must be replaced, the price is prorated. Occasionally, my air pressure is low in the winter, and Costco has installed two self-serve Nitrogen tire pumps at the back of the store for easy filling. We recently booked a vacation package with Costco travel. We booked three nights in a hotel and a rental car through Costco, with a rate cheaper than what a hotel would ordinarily cost (we basically got the car rental for free and still saved). I'm not sure if all the deals are that good, but if you're already a member, it's worth checking when planning a vacation or trip. The service even sets a travel alert for your Costco Citi card for your trip dates. Inside the store, there's self-checkout, and the staff keep those lines moving quickly. You can also order from the food court through a self-serve kiosk. If you're stuck in the food court or store for awhile (waiting on a tire repair or prescription), you can even hop on the free wifi now. Working for Costco is truly a career. This store has incredibly low employee turnover, especially for retail. The associate who sold us a membership ten years ago processed our return the other day. Some workers started when Costco opened in 2001 and their badges reflect the year they started. Costco's had a few changes over the last few years, but it's all been positive. We'll shop here as long as we're in Charleston and Costco's in Charleston.

Welcome to the lifestyle! Haha! The monthly ad is where the great deals kick in. Great deals on the clearance too, which can get wild! The food samples use to be awesome, but just kinda average now. Use to be a whole meal, just walking around. The food court is still great though! Awesome deal with pizzas and smoothies! Also that rotisserie chicken deal is probably worth the membership itself. The gas discount isn't really stellar. Gas prices are similar to North Charleston. Must be related to the locality taxes for Charleston. West coast Costcos have sushi, which would be great, but still waiting for it here. The employees are always friendly and the even though it gets busy everything seems to flow well If you plan on or end up spending $250 or more a month, if pays to opt up for the executive membership for the 2% cash back. That is the break-even point for the extra cost of $60 per year.

The West Ashley location is admittedly kind of random, but they do have a gas station and a gigantic parking lot.

Dear reader,…read more Charleston City Market is exactly the sort of place that makes casual browsing turn into a full-fledged expedition. It is full of jewelry, handmade gifts, local art, and all manner of treasures, and so many visitors seem to love the same thing: the sheer variety and the chance to find something that actually feels special rather than mass-produced. That absolutely tracked for us. The Market itself has been a Charleston staple for over 200 years, and it still feels lively, local, and full of character. What really stood out for me was an artist who went by Andy, who had a collection of pop art vinyl records that was genuinely fantastic. Using mixed media, he created pieces featuring different singers, musicians, and bands on old vinyl records, which felt both clever and beautifully done. I chose an amazing Mary J. Blige piece that was also hand-painted, and I was absolutely thrilled with it. The value of your dollar was VERY worth getting one (or more)! Cash only! Overall, this was a thoroughly enjoyable wander and a very good place to find art, gifts, and a few things you did not know you needed. I would happily go back.

We had no idea until we entered just how far it went; it goes "on & on"! So much history within these buildings. It's one of the oldest public markets in the U.S. Has weathered many storms and has been registered in the National Registry of Historic Places. Established in 1788 (even though the inside entrance stats 1807) & as of today it still stands on the premises of monetary trades & services, as well as shared cultural heritage. There are countess vendors throughout this retail galleria. We enjoyed mainly browsing the works of products that were officially certified as Handmade in Charleston. You won't get tired of looking, but a lot of repeat sellers. It's essentially like a flea market if you will. It was fun, but way too much basket weaving vendors. Was so intriguing to watch the Gullah artistry & understand its importance here, but would have liked to have seen and explored MORE local foods. Wished that they would have had a specific area that was an actual type of wet market/ open-air concept or traditional marketplace that sells fresh, perishable foods like meat, seafood, and produce focusing more on local eats and food heritage of its distinct low country cuisine. There were some food spots, just not what we had envisioned or experiencing with other east coast markets we've been to. Bought a bottled water that was over $5! Other than that, we didn't buy anything else. However, definitely worth a stroll and a unique experience. Perfect touristy spot! *Open daily 9:30 AM-5:30 PM Fri & Saturday Night 6:30 PM -10:30 PM
