I love Costco but their hours suck! Why in the world do they close so early on Saturday and Sunday nights? I guess their schedule and mine don't match up very well. Usually when I am there right before they close on Saturday or Sunday they are plenty busy but still insist on cutting lights off to send you the message that they are closing soon. We originally joined Costco after reading an article about all the Keto options there. We had previously been wary because of the stereotypes about 72 rolls of toilet paper and such. As a family of four we find it easier to stick to shopping maybe once a month, or every other. It's been great for things like trash bags, fabric softener and such. And yes, the Keto options have been fantastic for us. We found the savings on gasoline helpful as well. read more

I visited this Costco over the weekend - it's kinda tucked away in the back off the main road. If you're driving south on US 29 and turn to your right, you'll see the store. I came here to get gas. They had a power outage in the morning so none of the pumps were working. Regular fuel was $1.66 a gallon - cheap if you're coming from up north. I really didn't want to get gas anywhere else. All other gas stations were charging around at least $1.79 a gallon. I decided to come back an hour later. I was rewarded for my patience - the power was back on and the pumps were working again. No long lines either. It was Sunday morning and it felt like I had the place all to myself. After I filled up the tank, I parked the car in the store parking lot in a space far away from the store. I got out of my car and did snow angels (even though there was no snow) on the ground just to celebrate not having crowds! People stared at me and thought I was insane but I didn't care. read more

So glad to have a Costco in Charlottesville now! I have no complaints about this one -- it's like any other Costco, but I found that the lovely people giving samples are extremely kind about letting you take more than one sample. In fact they're usually encouraging me to. The store's always been clean every time I've been, and the food court is as cheap and delicious as you can expect. Note that they don't offer passport photo services here (yet?), no matter what the website says. read more

Its Costco. The workers here are phenomenal and I always come here to buy stuff in bulk for my Christian fellowship. The worker Brittany is always so helpful should I need help in locating certain items or in checking out, she's always the first to recruit some employees to help me cart my metric tons of hotdogs and chips to my car. Always a great experience coming here. Wish the chicken bakes were a little fresher at times but nothing can be done about that. read more

Well this is quickly becoming my favorite store in a Cville. Discounted gas, large quantities of anything you could possibly need, and... *drum roll please* SAMPLES!!! Y'all, I am not the person that tries all the samples and buys nothing. Sadly, I'm the opposite! I speed-walk in, sample the goods, and try to purchase ALL of them knowing they don't align with my health and fitness goals! *PRAY FOR ME* The staff also sets this store apart. They are courteous, helpful, and kind! Thanks for doing a great job Costco... I wish I could partake in your snack bar foods more frequently too! read more

Everybody who works here looks so happy. They have specialized items that are higher than other club card places ( you know the one) that being said everything here feels carefully thought out. The people are helpful, and the concessions stand has really good snacks and an epic salad. Sometimes we break up our weekend shopping just to eat that salad, and we usually leave with something we didn't intend to buy like water bottles, or proscuitto. PS the proscuitto has an amazing price and it's a crowd pleaser among guest with our cheese plates. I love ya'll keep up the good work. read more

My wife returned from a shopping trip to Costco today. Amongst her purchases were bagels. Costco has a policy of requiring the purchase of bagels in pairs of sleeves. She went thru the self-checkout and was assisted by the supervisor of that area, which is necessary due to the Costco policy. She paid and left the checkout line. At the exit the "auditor" scanned her cart, the machine she was using gave a click and the "auditor" began loudly shouting "audit" "audit" much to my wife's embarrassment. She then went back to the checkout line and got the supervisor who confirmed she had assisted my wife. Some sort of manager was called who said my wife owed $8 for the bagels which my wife paid. We are members of both Sams and Costco, which heretofore my wife has preferred. This is terrible customer service and demonstrates a lack of training in how to handle unusual situations without embarrassing their members. Caveat Emptoris. read more

I was about to get into exit-line of this facility this morning and was behind a woman going through the check-receipt line.. kids in tow and lots of products. Clearly, she was frustrated and on top of that she could not find her receipt. The employee at the door checking the receipts very nicely, suggested that she go over to the customer service (which is right there), she even said that a manager could override the receipt if needed, but, that the customer would have none of this. She fully expected the employee to let her pass. Keep in mind that, typically, the person working the door cannot leave their post. Employee was VERY professional and very helpful. But, this customer was not pleasant in the least. And was very unnecessarily rude to the employee. I got the impression that she was on her way to lodge a complaint against the poor lady at the door who was just doing exactly what she is paid to do. I am hoping that the complaint was taken with a grain of salt. This community is small and this store does not have the best reputation in the management area. I just hope they give the employee a pat on the back for handling herself so well in that situation. She deserves a better job than standing at that door! read more

I have to give credit when credit is due. I went to the eye doctor at Costco earlier this year, and purchased glasses from Costco. It's been about 8 months. Something developed in my lenses. When I went back to inquire, they replaced my lenses at no charge and rushed the order. Their customer service in the eye department is always fantastic, and I so appreciate that that fixed my beloved new glasses! read more

I love the wide variety of foods that they offer! I bought some chicken sausage there and it was exceptional. Their mac & cheese is the best I've EVER had. I love that I can grab take home meals to bring home and cook for dinner. We are a family of six so it's a great place to stock up for all of our needs! read more

I seriously love Costco and wish I could live there. Everything is affordable, but also high quality. Also the samples = basically enough for a full meal. I got a pair of eyeglasses from Costco and they were less than half the price I was quoted at my eye doctor. Also, the #1 selling point is the amazing beer and wine selection, and most of the wine prices are insanely cheap. Another thing that makes this Costco better than the ones I've been to in larger cities is that it never gets as crowded and even the longest checkout line in Cville is shorter than the shortest checkout line at Costcos in larger cities. read more

The pharmacy and the optical services at this Costco are fantastic. The pharmacy techs are friendly and knowledgeable, and have gone above and beyond to deal with my...let's say...challenging insurance company. I was skeptical about using a "big box" pharmacy after some prior bad experiences, but Costco won me over. Thanks, y'all! read more

Top marks for their hearing center at Pentagon City. Audiologist Helen Kahn is great. The prices beat anything on the 'outside'. The money back return policy and loss/damage coverage are very comforting. read more

I went to the store to jewellery section to buy what my mother wanted for her birthday. Got helped by a employee on the floor and he wrote the mechanise pickup slip and the price on the item said, "$179.99" both on the item and also on the slip he wrote. When I went to pay at the register, Travis, said, "$189.99". Charge me but don't look at me crazy as if I am lying about the price and no I didn't write the slip. Customer is responsible for the store's mistake? It is not my responsibilities . Yours only. Also the other time, I got asked if it was me on my Costco card picture. Yes it is me and people can have short hair and if grows and have long hair ? We may look different with different hair ? And we age ? Sorry I like the store but experiences have been not welcoming and helpful much. read more

Disclaimer: I'm a bit of a Costco nut and visit every store possible while on vacation all over the country. That being said, I do have many store experiences to compare against, if nothing else. This particular store is the best I've seen in 10 states. We visited on a Saturday and it was not terribly crowded, which is an unusual occurrence for me. The carts were in great shape and not rusted and the wheels were not worn. But more than anything, the thing that stood out was the fact that the staff and product display reps were incredibly engaged and friendly. One of the staff that I questioned actually walked me to the location of the product, rather than just point in the direction. The clerk in the wine section got me a box without me even asking and then offered a tip on what he felt was a good value. Because of that I bought a $50 bottle that I probably would have passed had he not recommended. The girl displaying protein powder knew the ingredients inside and out and smiled broadly. The lady displaying the chocolate covered fruit went down the aisle and got me two bags. I can't speak enough how nice of an experience it was for my wife and I, just really refreshing to see that type of customer service! I almost didn't mind the $800 bill! And you know the story... I just went there for milk! read more

Sunday I was told by a grim-faced "manager" that an item ("ThinAddictions" - crackers) many years on COSCO shelves, was under review for quality control. ( She unsmiling said this off the top of her head which seemed amazing.) But when asked about a basic product, Efferdent, she looked it up and said it was discontinued "period." I asked what COSTCO had to replace it with and she said Fixadent. Well, since one cleans dentures and the other helps them to adhere, I now have little faith in her level of knowledge in either case. While the checkout station attendees and the occasionally visible shelvers seem cheerful and friendly, this version of a manager leaves much to be improved! BTW: No suggestion was made as to how I might comment to overall management on these missing items! read more

this store has so much in it and the staff are excellent. i would especially like to give a shout-out to simone who works with the rotisserie chicken. we were in the store today: feb. 27th 2016 and she was so nice and polite. she is a credit to your store and customer service. we love this store. simone is a wonderful staff person. read more
