My husband and I have been Costco members for many years. Today, we had to renew membership. Because I am already retired, and my husband is getting ready to retire soon, we wanted to downgrade membership from executive to gold star. Yes, we already knew we would be losing our 2% rebate that we received at the end of the year. We are looking to cut back on expenses and we may move somewhere where there is no Costco. In any event, we were very disappointed by the way the lady in Membership treated us. Treated us like two years olds who didn't know what we were doing. She was going on and on about our losing our rebate and are we sure we want to downgrade and we had to tell her exactly why we were downgrading. She typed some info into her system, had upper management come over and told him "Look at what I typed". I guess she thought he would try to talk us out of what we were doing as they know more than we lowly senior citizen long standing members know. Costco....you may want to train your member services associates to show more courtesy to members and not question why they want to downgrade/cancel membership. Show your members more respect. We have always been happy with Costco and this is the first time we have felt like we weren't valued. I worked at Sam's Club, in Member Services, and never questioned a member regarding membership. Second best Costco location (Issaquah #1). Honestly I rather make the extra 5 min drive here than go to the Tukwila one any day! First impression is that it is HUGE, very spacious & organized! All the times I have gone it has been super clean & well stocked! I can easily find what I'm looking for, but then again I also enjoy walking down all the aisles. They offer a lot of things the Tukwila location doesn't have! The best part is that they never have much people inside! I LOVE IT! Check out is quick and easy, they tape your receipt on one of your items so you don't have to hand it to them when you leave! Staff is really friendly & available when needed! What more is there to say about Costco? You would have to be living under a rock not to know about this place and to have an opinion about what they offer. To that effect, this review is purely about my experiences here during the COVID pandemic. Despite the known world going mad, I must applaud the employees here for remaining helpful and cheerful. That's right, I said cheerful. I have countless visits here and almost always need to ask for assistance in one way or another. Returns, member services, meat department, check-out lines, cart collectors...you get the picture. I have NEVER once encountered an employee who acted bothered that I needed their help. That's saying a lot in our current world. Aside from the regular bad attitude that COVID has caused in our community, I regularly find that great customer service in our country is merely a suggestion- not a principle. This is the same review I gave the Kirkland Costco.. because they both have the same problem! BUMMER, paid money to join.. and can hardly ever shop there! I am disabled, and since Costco is so huge, I definitely need a motorized shopping cart. But there never seem to be any available! Boo hoo.. so I cannot come in, cannot shop. COSTCO NEEDS MORE OF THE ELECTRIC CARTS! they have a huge amount of customers who come in to shop, and they need more carts to accomodate older and disabled members. One of the best Costco locations I've been to because it's never busy, meaning you can find a reasonable parking spot, don't feel crowded when shopping and never have to wait more than a few minutes at check out. This location has everything you'd expect including my two favorites: food court and samples! There's also photo services, optometrist, pharmacy, tire service center, gas station and hearing aids. In the food court is a coffee machine that sells delicious freshly brewed coffee for $1.25 - not sure if that's available at all locations - and there's also a featured rotating seasonal latte. It's also near a Fred Meyer and Safeway should you not need bulk sizing for some items. read more

This place is always a hit or miss. Some workers there are nice and helpful, but pretty much the Returns desk is non-existent and overall terrible. Shouldn't take 15 minutes waiting. 1 worker was with a customer and 2 others standing and talking to each other about customers. Doesn't matter to me if your name tag states you have been working there for 10 billion years, the cocky and snobby attitude doesn't cut it. Just creates a toxic workplace and chain reaction for new staff to follow this. I hope HQ takes note that shouldn't be what the company foundation was set up for. Despite providing a receipt, you have to look through the computer system to make sure I paid the actual thing. That's terrible and makes customers like me feel like we are thieves. Anyway, other than that, the selection of food always changes at a blink of the eye. I don't know what the purchaser/buyer of this location is thinking. This location is easily the best Costco I've been to. Very clean warehouse that's organized well. They have everything you'd expect to find at a Coscto with surprisingly easy parking! Just like with any Costco, the lines can get pretty crazy, but they manage them pretty well and the lines move at a reasonable speed. read more

I was trying to complain about a SERIOUS issue. I have been a Costco member for many decades and I spend a lot of money at Costco every month and I've never been treated so poorly as I was today at the Covington Washington Costco. #1 I was yelled at by the lady checking receipts at the front door. #2 She was wrong in what she said, showing she did not know the rules. Situation: I took my car in for an appointment to have snow tires put on. I dropped off the car and keys at the tire center and was going out the exit when the lady yelled at me from about 30 feet away, before i had reached the exit, "You can't come in here with a backpack!" I was surprised having never heard nor seen any rule about no backpacks allowed. I said, "Excuse me?" And she yelled, again, "You're not allowed to have a backpack in here!" I said, "OK, sorry." And left. I heard her then telling all the others at the entrance and exit that they can't let people with backpacks enter. I looked outside for a sign or notice but saw nothing. I had intended to do some shopping whilst i waited for my car. But instead I got pissed. If there wasn't anything posted what right did she have to yell at me? I went in to customer service and asked for a manager. She was polite. I explained what happened and said, if there is suck a rule it needs to be posted outside. She apologized for the bad experience and said the rule is that if you bring in a backpack it may be searched when exit. I said, "I'm fine with that, there isn't anything in my backpack except my wallet, keys, and glasses. But that's not what she said." So, this woman working the front exit door at 6:30 PM today, Jan 20th, has spread her misunderstanding of the rules on 3 other people, severely pissed off a long time member who spends a lit of money at Costco and has made me think that I might need to take my business elsewhere for a while. I had intended to shop whilst waiting for my car, instead I had to stand outside in the cold and rain waiting because i didn't want to fight with them over my backpack. I have a bad back and bad leg. COVID-19 has already taken away all the publicly available seats and benches for someone like me to rest at, and now we add this kind of treatment... By the time my car was ready, by back was sore and stiff, my leg was numb from standing, i was very cold, somewhat wet, which aggravates the cold, and my ankle is starting to throb as the numbness wears off in my leg. This was my favorite Costco but not anymore! Tried to do a price adjustment using a warehouse receipt from the app, which I've done so many times, and Lynnette in returns absolutely refused after staring at my phone and asking questions. Why keep looking at my receipt on my phone if you were going to just deny it still?! I told her I've done this so many times here with no problems and the federal way Costco was able to reprint my receipt and adjust it too but she said the store manager changed that specific stores policy now so you need to have the original receipt and just being short and rude!!! And she assumed my receipt was over 30 days and it wasn't. If she woulda just looked in the system she would have seen all the info but no... She said I had to go buy the product and return it with the receipt I was showing her so I had to go buy the product, go back in returns line and then go back and repurchase the freaking item! She was NOT friendly and had really poor customer service skills. I am a long time Costco customer and have never ever been treated this way and I hate having to complain!!!!! read more

Well I have to start off by saying the product is all fine and this post is solely based on customer service. I have been a Costco customer for 10 plus years and never have a been treated this poorly. The lack of customer serve etiquette was beyond my imagination. I walked into the Covington Costco and promptly asked a friend of mine to accompany me to the food court prior to making our purchases as I was Thirsty and needed a refreshing drink to quench my thirst. As we got there The aroma of the delicious pizza over powered us and decided to buy a slice of pizza as well. We notice there was no place to to sit down and enjoy our pizza (due to the corona pandemic) so we went on our way however I need to take one quick bite before I lost my mind. We stoped our Cart and I placed my drink on the what seems like a customer service or phone center counter while I took a bite of my pizza before I could finish swallowing that first bite a associate of Costco (male mid late 30s Anglo ) came out of nowhere and and was about as rude as you can be and told me and my fiend to" you can't be here so get out of here" I was stunt. Is not that he told us we couldn't eat there is the way he said it. I though to my self Is that the way you talk to everyone? I simply answered ok!? With a confused face as he kinda walked towards what seemed like a hidden a lunchroom hidden behind some temporary walls by the food court. He stared us down until we pretty much walked out of his sight. The stare he gave us made me feel like a criminal and embarrassed due to the fact there was people all around us and he's tone of voice wasn't only rude but very loud. Why in the hell wouldn't you want a box of 30 granola bars, the biggest (and most delicious) muffins you've ever seen, free samples, AND a solid (and cheap) food *court*?! I come to Costco to pick up snacks and stuff to put in lunches for the week. Never have I ever felt more inclined to spend money than I do here - it's like heaven, or what I'd imagine heaven to be like. Word of advice though: if you're going to go during the weekend, go in the MORNING. If you go during mid-day or evening, you're just asking to be playing bumper carts in every aisle. read more

Epic Fail!! Waited three weeks for a supposedly in stock range. Terrible delivery crew finally showed up with wrong range. Wrong model, wrong color, and it was gas not electric. They scratched the floor taking my old range out and then just got in their truck and left. Costco charged my credit card within minutes of my order but it's been a week and I still have no refund. I will never buy another item from Costco that I can't fit in a shopping cart and wheel out the door. I had similar experiences buying a car and hearing aids through them. Lesson learned! read more

Costco and I have always been like oil and water. I tend to hate Costco, but it's not entirely Costco's fault. People who go to Costco seem to lose all sense of civility. They jostle their over burdened carts through the aisles like there's a timer and they're losing. The parking is usually hideous. I don't like feeling like Frogger getting to the store. This Costco is different. The parking lot was laid out so no one had to navigate around impatient cars to get to the store. There weren't that many people and people weren't pushing. I just discovered that the Covington location still sells lemonade juice where the Kirkland location stops selling it right after summer for some stupid reason. Costco Covington Tire Customer Service non existence. I wish I could put zero star. I have always had my tire rotations, purchase tires and batteries from Costco Covington. Last rotation they did not put back my lock nut. I did not find out until today when I had a flat. Imagine how frustrating that is in the rain and can not change flat tire. I went back to the store 10:00am 12/15/2017 and asked the service tech to look if they had in their shop. He responded we always put it back. Well, Costco is the only one that does my rotation and I really doubt the lock nut walk away by itself. Shame on them for not even taking the time to check the shop. I purchased new tires from the tire center because they were having a sale and I had rewards from my Citi credit card that made it a really great deal to buy from them. When I took my car in to get the tires put on the job took longer then they said but it I felt that was fine expecting the job was done right. When I arrived to pick up they told me one stud on each of my back tires broke while they were working but it was perfectly safe to drive on because he claims you only are required to have 4. He also told me it's something they can't fix. As I was driving home my tire pressure sensor light started blinking. Now since they broke my studs and they forgot to reset my sensors it's costing me more to get this fixed. I would have been better off purchasing my tires somewhere else as now I am paying another shop to fix their mistake. I won't be bringing my car back here. read more

I signed up for a booster for my COVID shot. I selected Novavax because that is what was recommended since I am allergic to the Pfizer vaccine. All this information was collected at the time I made the appointment. When I got there I was told I could not receive the booster recommended by Washington Public Health and the CDC. As a whole store, I LOVE this Costco. It's always clean, the staff is super covid proactive, stock is always great, friendly service, fresh produce etc. I would have zero complaints except... .I went in for an eye exam last week. The eye Dr. Is a separate business within Costco. Dr. Lam and her staff are fantastic. I got in/out in a fantastic time with all my questions answered and a new Rx in hand. Here's where things went left. As a loyal Costco customer of course I'm going to give their glasses dept my business. This Dept has NOTHING to do with Dr. Lam. I wanted to get my new Rx put in my existing frames. They are cute, stylish, comfortable and because I only use glasses for reading, in great shape. Plus they were on the spendy side (Fendi) so I just want to keep.them. The lady at the counter takes a very superficial glance at them and says they can't be reuse because the frame has got thin and they wouldn't work. I just looked at her. No, no they aren't. Not at all. But I'm not even going to engage in this dumb conversation. This is an easy solve. I took my frames and left. Contacted Fred Meyer Opthalmology and boom, absolutely no problem and they confirmed the Costco person was just trying to get the new frame sales. Hint for the future: if a customer is willing to pay for the shipping and new lens and wants to keep their frame? Don't play them for stupid! I probably would have got another pair for sunglasses from you, but you had to get greedy! And it isn't about the money at all. I just really like my frames. I have been a Costco customer for more than 20 years. In general, I like the Costco customer service and Costco employees' attitude towards customers. However, on July 26, 2021, I experienced just an opposite treatment. I had terrible and unprofessional customer service with very bad attitude towards customers at Covington, WA Costco. I am a 67-year-old retiree was denied buying alcohol because I didn't have ID with me. How is it possible not to see that I am older than 21 years? It looks to me that this Costco employees don't have any common sense and try to abuse their position of power towards their clients. I was denied the service even after Costco manager checked my age using my Costco ID with my photo on the computer that proved that I am 67 years old. It was also very bad that Covington Costco employees try to avoid any responsibilities for their behavior or actions by not giving their business cards or their full names. I asked them about this multiple times without any success. They gave me only their first names that are completely useless for their identifications among this Costco employees. I spoke with two managers and one employee. Behavior all of them was very unprofessional, rude and hostile towards me. I was not sure that I had such bad treatment from this Costco employees because I am an immigrant, and my English language is not perfect. Anyway, it was a very upsetting experience!to read more

Overall I had a good experience at Costco. I felt like I got the true 'Costco experience' that comes with the membership. Often times shopping can be something I dislike to do, although at Costco I find myself not minding shopping and somewhat enjoying it with the friendly staff presented. Especially during the pandemic, i felt they have done a great job making sure they are taking the right measures to keep everyone safe. They are sanitizing all the carts and everyone is wearing a mask. They even take it one step further and provide mask at times for those who come forgetting. My favorite Costco because it's the least busiest out of all the Costcos in King County. The staff is extremely helpful. I went in this past Saturday and all the supervisors were directing traffic for the checkout lines to make sure everyone got out fast One supervisor named Phill went above and beyond to make sure I got what I needed. I was picking up Jameson for a party and for some reason it wasn't where it usually was. Phill went to the back to get it for me. All Costco locations should be this great. I always find close parking (something that is practically unheard of at Costco), there's never a line at the checkout, and my shopping time is literally cut in half. The employees are friendly and helpful as well. I have never gotten gas at this location, but I have never seen a line at the gas station either. My one complaint is that they don't carry coffee syrups, but I can easily get those elsewhere. read more
