Either people are unaware that this station has reopened, or the addition of more pumps has dramatically improved the flow through this location. I've been here at the end of the workday, during the afternoon rush, and have driven straight up to an open pump. There are new indicator lights in front of each lane that tells you which pumps are open - no more craning your neck to see if there is an available pump in front of the enormous Toyota Land Cruiser. read more

I don't understand the Yelp moderators. All too often, corrections I make to a business page never get approved. Fraudulent reviews that I report never get removed. But the mods just managed to change something that really inconveniences people - they combined the pages for Sunnyvale's Costco, Costco Gasoline, and Costco Foodcourt into a single page. Granted, they were all poorly named "Costco", but any quick check would reveal which ones are what. Costco and Costco Gasoline serve separate functions (and even have different hours) and should have their own pages like they do at most other locations. Yelp mods, please do the right thing and leave them be this time. ----------------------------------------------- My original review dated 9/11/2012: This gas station typically sells gas for 10+ cents lower than the name brand stations (excluding Arco) in the area. But I don't understand why some people will wait in line for 20 minutes, with their engines running, to save a couple bucks on gas. That said, you won't have to if you don't go during peak hours. Even if you're trying to combine your Costco shopping with your gas fillup, if you visit the gas station first before the warehouse opens, you'll have it way better than the next guy. The gas station opens at 6am daily and closes an hour after the warehouse does (meaning 9:30pm on weekdays and 7pm on weekends). It's best to come really early or really late. There's no line if you come before 7am or 10-15 minutes before closing time. Your membership card, like at the Costco warehouse, is required. So is a credit or debit card. An American Express TrueEarnings from Costco card will get you 3% cash back on Costco gas. Final tip to save you a few minutes: If you're coming from the west along Kifer Road, don't go through the Lawrence Expressway intersection. Chances are you'll waste a few minutes waiting at the light. Instead, turn right on San Zeno Way, the road right before you hit Lawrence. This short road will take you under Lawrence Expressway and onto Lawrence Station Road, right next to the gas station. Costco is the cheapest place to get gas if you have a membership, but the lines can be horrendous. Come by any weekend or weekday evenings and the lines can be 10+ cars long for one pump :( This gas station is located on the southeast corner of the lot, so if you're turning in from Lawrence, it'll be all the way on the right (e.g. closest to the Caltrain station). Process is simple - swipe your membership card, select how you want to pay (either with your Costco card if it doubles as a credit card or insert another card), select fuel type and then start pumping. There's usually an attendant nearby too so if you encounter any issues, just flag them down. If you're done pumping gas, please be considerate and pull out of the line as quick as you can! Lots of people waiting, so it's frustrating when someone takes longer than necessary to start their car and leave even though they've already filled up. My tip - come early in the morning (pumps open at 6am Mon-Sat and 7am on Sun) before the warehouse opens (10am Sun-Fri and 9:30am on Sat), that's the only time when you might be able to pull up to the pump right away without a line. Also, Costco pumps have an extension cable so they can be used even if your car's fuel cap is on the opposite side - so go for whichever line is shortest regardless of which side it's on! Last tip - I have run into the machine running out paper for receipts quite often, so rather than wait for someone to refill the paper, I just snap a picture of the cost and take off. Though the lines can be somewhat long, it does trickle in slowly. One of the greatest thing about the fountain Valley Costco gasoline is that it has three stations per aisle so the flow isn't too bad. Prices are cheaper than anywhere else. Costco gas is always a good deal. But like all the Costcos that have gas, the lines are usually always long. Plan to be in line for awhile for the cheaper gas. It is right off the right side of the parking lot so this creates a traffic jam in that part of the lot. I'm sure there is an attendant working the gas lines, but I usually only see an attendant every so often. Don't get gas on a weekend, the lines are super long then. The best time to go to the pump is early in the morning, right before they open. Usually it's only a one car or so wait. Not bad considering it can go 5-7 cars deep pretty quickly. I was in and out of this costco gas in 5 minutes, a LOT shorter than I've had to wait at any other Costco. I was there quite early, at 10am. A couple friends and I went back at 12pm to get gas for his truck, and the wait was about 10 mins to get to the pump. It's all about timing I suppose. Can you think of a time when you disliked someone or something SO MUCH because of a terrible event that happened? This could be because you were stood up, or maybe you felt you got cheated on a purchase. For me, I ABSOLUTELY HATE the Sunnyvale Costco Gas Station with a passion. And let me cut to the chase and tell you why: -LOCATION (2/10): You'd think that because this Costco Gasoline Station is located on such a major street like Lawrence Expressway, getting here would be a cinch. NOPE! Unless you come before the roosters start cock-a-doodle-dooing (place opens at 6am every day except 7am on Sundays), you are going to face the wrath of Silicon Valley traffic. If you absolutely must drive here, I recommend coming down Lawrence from Reed/Monroe Street. Otherwise, you'll be stuck forever either driving down Kifer or waiting for the turn light. Please be careful going into the little street (Lawrence Station Road) where the Costco is at because cars will come from two directions at a time. The only reason why I won't give this place a goose egg for the location is because the Lawrence Station is quite close to the 101 Freeway. -ENTRANCE (0/10): You know how bad traffic on the freeway can get because of bottlenecking (e.g. because cars need to merge)? Well you are going to experience something similar at the Sunnyvale Costco Gasoline Station. Someone should really complain to the person who designed this place because DAMN IT'S BAD. First off, there are only two entrances into the gas station. Second, this is compounded by the fact that cars trying to get in have to fight through people who want to park/leave!!! This literally leads to a potential nightmare in which cars have to start waiting OUTSIDE COSTCO to get in. -WAIT TIME (0/10): Because of the above, you will be lucky if you can get in and out of this Costco in under 15 minutes. On average, I find myself waiting around 20+ minutes just to get gas. It's freaking ridiculous! What makes it so bad is the fact that each of the 5-6 lanes only has two pumps! But at least I can write a Yelp review while chilling in agony (is that a paradox)? -COST (0/10): In terms of cost, this Costco Gasoline Station is probably the worst. In fact, you are better off going to a nearby Arco if you pay in cash because cost per gallon will be relatively the same! As of October 2017, it was $2.62 a gallon (almost went to $3 because of the hurricanes). -EXIT (0/10): Not sure if entrance or exit is worse ecause UGH, I HATE getting out of this Costco Gas Station. Because of how the entrance is constructed, you are forced to turn right onto Kifer (don't try going towards the Lawrence Caltrain because it won't lead anywhere useful) to leave. There's literally no way to go the other direction. This is even MORE ANNOYING because you technically aren't allowed to make a U-turn at the nearest intersection afterwards due to construction. But screw it, I just do it anyway because this place sucks! The only reason why I go to the Sunnyvale Costco Gasoline Station is because I live no more than 5 minutes away. However, because of the poor location, nightmarish entrance, disgusting wait time, mediocre cost, and terrible exit, I find myself wondering why I even bother coming here. The gas is cheap (87 grade for $2.56 a gallon on 7/18/2017) but the entry to get to the pumps is so inefficient. There's only 2 lanes to enter which splits to 10 lines. There's a huge bottleneck when it gets busy. Also if you want to change to a different line it is near impossible. Avoid this Costco gas station if possible! read more

Cheapest gas in the all of South Bay! Premium was $2.22 the other day when I filled up. If it reaches below $2 then I swear I might just go buy some kind of huge tank and fill it up with $2000 worth of premium lol. The people that complain about the lines just aren't smart enough to come here during the daytime on weekdays and never on weekends. Yes the wait time is a pain, but c'est la vie for super cheap gas. During the daytime weekdays there might be 1 or 2 cars to wait behind. During the weeknights, there will be 3 to 4 cars to wait behind. During the weekends at all times throughout the day, you will need to wait behind maybe 5+ cars in each line. Pump gas accordingly. To the Yelper that was shopping at Costco, why would you park anywhere near the gas station line? You have got to have zero common sense if you park anywhere near the gas station line. This gas station is no frills and has an odd location at this Costco that is tough to get in and out of. No attendants, no cash, and only Costco credit, AMEX, or Debit are accepted. The lines are usually long and the parking lot is not conducive to a line of cars, thus slowing up the line waiting. On this Monday, April 29, 2019, I finally returned to the Costco gas station on Lawrence station since my failed attempt ten days ago due to construction. Fortunately, I can confirm other reports that the station is now open again for business. The number of stations has drastically increased and there was no waiting line this morning compared to earlier this and last year when I used to visit. The construction was worth it in my opinion. While the overall price of gas has increased at all local stations by at least one dollar per gallon the past two months, Costco on Lawrence still offers the most competitive prices for members with a debit card. read more

When you come to this gas station the rules of the road do not apply here or any kind of courtesy. Apparently you can just drive anywhere you want in any direction. Do not park anywhere near the line of the gas station for you will not have a clear exit route. This fuggin place sucks so much a$$. Omg people do not know how to drive or wait in a line. Sometimes people will even cut you in order to make a new line for the gas stations next to you when in fact the line you were in was intentionally going to split into the other aisles eventually! Let's be honest, gas here is cheaper than anywhere else. BUT you gotta go at the right times or else you'll be waiting A LONG TIME! I usually go anywhere from 10am-11am.
