WARNING - Do not see this Doctor for an eye exam!!! Start to finish the service, care and billing…read morean extremely disappointing experience. The optometrist spent very little time with me and seemed uninterested in anything but finishing the appt asap. He mentioned my macular degeneration but other than pointing it out which I already knew about which is done at any eye appt no treatment was performed other than the upgraded imaging I approved prior to the appt. I fully understood I would be paying for that imaging upgrade but instead the office billed me a medical visit! There was nothing remotely medical about my visit and at no point was it communicated that this visit would be billed as a medical visit instead of vision. I had a vision test to get a new prescription for glasses. The ironic thing is the prescription provided was not accurate, not even close. I reached out for assistance after getting my glasses elsewhere and was told the glasses provided were subpar and they were the issue. Instead, I made another appt with another optometrist to get my prescription redone out of pocket. The prescription was totally different and much more in line with previous. Which I provided to the Dr at the time of the appt and he never even took the time to look at. Now I have a bill for medical care. Un freaking believable. This office scams you on so many levels. The office staff is curt and unhelpful. Overall, this practice lacks basic customer service, professionalism, and attention to patient care. I am paying this bill, but I will also ensure everyone else is warn away.

Perhaps she called once. My voicemail was apparently full. Time to get with the times and get a text service for appt reminders, confirmations. Still does not excuse rudeness. Asked what I do, she did not have a recommendation to get me in sooner. Today called and same bad attitude. I asked to order more contacts, the dailys. $$$. She said my scrip was expired. Its not. I complained to her that they cancelled me and did a poor try at notifying me. She did not handle that well, I let her know that I would not be getting my check-ups or care there, and especially my products from now forward.

This review is four years past due but it was because I wanted to experience and see the progress…read moreof my eyes. Four years ago was a blurry time for me. I legit could not see your face unless you were a few inches near me. Now, I can see pretty far. Back then I had an excuse to not say hello to people ("sorry, I didn't see you there. I literally can't see you"). Now, I can avoid people at a much quicker pace because I can see them from afar. The four star review is specifically towards Dr. Nicholson. He was such a kind, calm, and patient doctor. From the first time he met with me to the last eye appointment I had with him, he was just amazing. He explained all the options for laser eye surgery to include his opinions on each one. I decided to do PRK instead of the normal laser eye surgery. Although the results take longer to show (its not an instant clear, "I can see" result), it's less invasive to the eye. The surgery itself was quick. It was so quick that when Dr. Nicholson went out to notify my husband, my husband assumed something had gone wrong with the surgery. You guys, it took less than 20 minutes to do both eyes! The experience itself is kind of weird. He puts clamps on your eyelids so you don't blink during the process. Keep in mind that he does put a numbing agent on your eyeballs. From my perspective, it looked like he was brushing my eyes. There were a few other things that he did but I remember this specifically because it felt so weird. It didn't hurt though. Also, keep in mind that I also took an over the counter drug to calm my nerves. During my ride home, my eyes were on and off blurry or clear. It was the first time in years I could see a license plate. The healing process was not bad. I asked for a few days off from work. It took almost three months for my eyes to consistently stay clear but it didn't affect my work nor my driving. Throughout that time, I had follow up appointments with Dr. Nicholson to see how I was progressing. My eyes are still pretty good. It has gotten slightly blurry again but it doesn't require any use of glasses or contacts. I can still see faraway signs. The only side affect is, if I am out at night, the lights have this star burst effect on them. It's not a big deal at all. As for the front desk and schedulers, they were terrible and quite frankly, pretty incompetent at scheduling and triaging patients. I have never had to deal with so many issues with scheduling. I had gotten the run around and often times, was given excuse after excuse. Basically, they never admitted they were wrong when it came to scheduling issues. I hope they've improved their process. There were multiple times where I wanted to give up and take my money and my business elsewhere. I have gone back and forth if I should give this business 2 stars but it wouldn't be fair to Dr. Nicholson's professionalism. I definitely trusted Dr. Nicholson from the first and last meeting. With the front line, not so much.

I did that, and I was told what the procedure would involve. At that time, I was quoted $400. I am on Medicare, so I called Medicare and asked why I was being charged $400. They told me that I should not be charged extra for a standard lens, because a lens has to be put in regardless. They explained that unless I chose a multifocal lens or another specialized lens, there should not be an additional charge, and Medicare would cover the standard procedure. I was scheduled for cataract surgery on Thursday, June 11. Then, on the Monday before the surgery, Evergreen Eye Center called me and said that I would need a specialized lens and that, in order to do the procedure the way I wanted, it would cost $4,000. I wanted monovision, meaning one eye for distance and one eye for close vision, but I was told the doctor did not want to do it that way unless I paid for the specialized lens option. Evergreen Eye also made me go to the surgical coordinator twice, and I could not understand why there was a need to go back to a coordinator again. The whole process with Evergreen Eye was long, drawn out, confusing, and frustrating. By comparison, the other provider I went to was very quick and straightforward. I called them on Monday, got in on Tuesday, met with the surgeon on Wednesday, had my first eye done the following Tuesday, and my second eye scheduled for the Tuesday after that. As I mentioned, by the end of June, both eyes should be completed and I should be healed up. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Evergreen Eye Center in Federal Way for anything. I would not have my worst enemy go there. This is an honest review from a patient and customer of Evergreen Eye Center who is very disappointed with how I was treated. The pricing communication was confusing, the last-minute change from $400 to $4,000 was shocking, and the overall process felt unnecessarily difficult. I went elsewhere and received much quicker, clearer, and more reasonable care.
