My husband recommended me I go here as he really enjoyed his first visit with Dr. Oda. Sadly, my experience hasn't been that delightful. My issue is not with the providers here, but with the lady that takes my eye measurements and that updates my prescription on my glasses. I've gotten an updated eye exam and gave them my glasses to get the updated prescription on them. Got my glasses back and my vision was pretty off. I called the office letting them know my vision is off with the new prescription. They said to come by and get a reassessment done free of charge. I come in, but the reassessment had no huge difference from what I was initially given, just a slight difference. So they took my glasses back to get that prescription updated. I pick up my glasses again and still notice my vision being very off. I called and explained. They asked that I come in again for another reassessment free of charge. Same routine happens. I pick up my glasses AGAIN and it's still off. My husband asked me to try and lift up my glasses to see if my vision is more clear...and of course that was the case. I called the clinic back and explained this. They told me to come in for another reassessment. This time, they took another measurement as well as that could be why my vision had been off. I leave my glasses with them and the lady goes "this will be the last time we can adjust your glasses for free." Excuse me? This entire time, it was your mistake for not getting the measurements correct the first time and you're telling me I have to pay in the case I need to get it redone? Why do I need to be responsible and pay when it was the clinic's fault to begin with? FYI, they said the fee would be $300-$350....I would not recommend this place and do not plan on coming back. Loved my visit! The whole team was so nice. The eye exam was thorough but quick. Dr. Chow did a phenomenal job on explaining eye anatomy basics so I walked out learning more than I ever did wearing glasses/contacts most of my life. Jaina helped me find the cutest glasses, she was so funny and honest so I really enjoyed picking them out! Everyone there made me feel welcome and taken care of. They also provide you with a handy dandy laminated prescription that fits in your wallet!! The details matter. 10/10 read more

Hello. I have been going to this clinic a long time at least 12 years. I agree with the reviews on here. The doctors are amazing especially Dr Chow . He is great with patients , knowledgeable and you can tell he loves his job. I recommend him to anyone needing a good optometrist. I even had my husband and mom start seeing him. On the other hand , I can understand the reviews about front end staff since I have experienced it first hand . For example : 8/2019 To keep it short , I brought my other half, Adam in for an eye exam (no hx of contacts or glasses) . Dr Pham said he had a slight stigmatism and glasses were optional. We decided to look around to utilize his benefits. We thought sunglasses would be the best option so he can use it for driving. She was explaining his benefits and we had questions regarding our options. As I was asking her a question , she ignores my question looks at my husband and talks over me to ask him a question. She doesn't acknowledge my question. Maybe she got tired of my questions but I told her it was not acceptable for her to raise her voice and talk over me , ignore my question like I'm not even there. I gave this feedback to one of the doctors to ensure it does not continue with other patients specially elderly patients who are not as quick to understand things . I just want this to be a learning experience rather than it negatively impacting someone's job. Unfortunately, today 10/31/23, it happened again. The beginning of October I called to order contacts and told them I had a old ones that are still sealed and unused that I would like to exchange. She said ok I will order the contacts but we need to check to make sure the box is still in pristine condition. I came in today to pick it up. She looks at my 2 boxes of contacts and with a snarky voice and snooty look on her face like I'm deceiving her says , we can't take these; these are expired . I looked at it and told her they are not and those are the manufacturing dates. She then says oh ok . Then she said she couldn't take one cuz their old and the other one since they are my current prescription . I was trying to trade it in , since I was using the stronger rx for both eyes since my eyes need to be rechecked by the dr and the doctor I want to see is booked until December. Regardless the situation, she could have communicated in a calm tone and manner. I don't understand why she seem so irritated all the time. Marisa either does not like her job or does not belong in a job that deals with the public. Regardless of the situation , she works in customer service and there is a good way of explaining things . I agree with the other comments , it feels like I'm inconveniencing her and didn't take time to listen and explain. Can't help wonder if this is the same lady people complained about on the reviews . Regardless this is not one but two instances. I contemplated finding a new eye dr but Dr chow is truly the best. For starters is this a Doctor office or Daycare? I have been here several times with my family and have noticed a little girl running around the office or just being brought back from school and interrupting the employees. I had a good exam with Dr. Oda but my glasses were ordered wrong I believe due to the employee being distracted by her daughter. I would watch out when ordering things here make sure the employees are actually paying attention to you. Also while in the exam hearing the little girl running down the hallway talking loudly and screaming. read more

Going on my second pair of glasses from Lakeland Vision. One of the very few places that carry ProDesign Denmark Frames, which are the most state of the art Frames and styling that put's most frames in the trash bin. I have a progressive prescription and on the first pair (I'm wearing them now) I only had to go in for an adjustment 1 time after a few days of wearing them out of the store. Best lenses also, So, when I got my new prescription a few weeks ago I went on ProDesigns website and found a new style they just released and I went on a crusade to find the frames. Nobody had them. And the manufacture had them backordered until at least July. So on the way home from Work a few weeks ago I decided to stop by the Lake Tapps store and see if they could order them. Blew my mind! I showed them the pic of the frames from the website and one of the CS reps goes in back and comes out with them! Unreal, I had to do a double take on them. So they should be in anyday now and I'm just besides myself with happiness, everyone's out of them, But They had them. People are professional. Nice location in Lakeland Hills. Doctor is great! It just seems like there is a lot of options of "extra" things you need to consider when at your appointment for example: know contact exams are a little extra, but it seemed higher than any other place I have been to (the max for my out of pocket). Also, you can choose between the traditional dilation of eyes that is included with insurance or you can get the special picture of your eyes for a fee. I sat there and could hear many people opt for the dilation, including myself. Other than that, good experience and would go back because the doctor and staff is friendly. read more

I had a great experience here! I got a metal shaving stuck in my eye and needed to see someone to help remove it. After calling several places that had no availability, and no desire to help, Lakeland vision clinic saved the day! They were able to fit me in on the same day, in between other appointments. Dr Lu was professional and courteous, as well as extremely skilled and thorough in her removal of the metal. Very happy with the experience here, would absolutely recommend to anyone asking. read more

I hadn't had an eye exam in a couple of years and decided to schedule an appointment here after reading the reviews on Yelp. I am so glad I did! The office is very clean and you must wait in your car until they ask you to come in (with a mask on) which I appreciated. Everything looks very modern including all of the technology they use. The tests before the exam were quick and everything was wiped down before and after I used the equipment. It was truly a pleasure meeting Dr. Oda. He is super friendly and fun to talk to. He was also quick at the exam but in the best way as he was able to determine a better rx for my glasses and helped me get set up for trying out contacts. The tech they have for exams makes things speedy and accurate. The staff is very accommodating and let me geek out by trying on their glasses. Any glasses tried on by me went in a bin for cleaning/disinfecting so the next person could try on glasses also. They also made notations on the glasses I liked. Finally, the pricing is great. I was expecting to pay a lot more (and I don't have vision insurance) so I look forward to my next visit when I can try contacts. The staff are amazing. Helpful knowledgeable and friendly. They have a decent selection in store, but can order in lots of different styles. With covid, they are very careful to only have minimal patients in store at a time. If you try a pair of glasses on, they go in a dirty bin and get sanitized when you're done. You have to call when you get there and they unlock the door for you to enter. Locking it behind you so people can't just waltz right in. read more

Worst customer service ever. Paid for an eye exam a couple of months ago. They wrote the prescription down on a business card which in a couple of months I obviously misplaced. Called to ask for the prescription and was made to feel like it was a huge undertaking. Basically she told me when she had time she would email it to me, which she never did. I then went to the an eyeglass place without the prescription and they told me "no problem at all we will call them and get it from them". When they called they were told they had to have permission from me. 4 days later and still no resolve. Guess my 17 year old doesn't need to see when she drives at night. ‍ thanks for no help at all. By the way if anyone wants a great place, I've used the Bonney Lake Eye Center next to Kohl's. They have amazing customer service! And a great doctor!!! read more

I made an appointment first for my son. He is 8 and needs an exam every six months. We saw Dr. Oda and he was great with my son and informative and thorough. After we left, I confirmed what amount my insurance would cover for frames and we picked out a pair and ordered them. I also scheduled myself an appointment and knew I was due for new lenses and frames per my insurance schedule. I noticed that my son's PD or pupillary distance measurement wasn't on the laminated prescription card they handed me, so I asked, "Can I get his PD?" I had just finished a thorough exam and upgraded to the eye pictures so we could avoid dilation, I knew they knew his PD. The receptionist, let's call her a "commissioned frames salesperson", did a passive aggressive "harumph" and looked put out. She pulled out his chart and said, "61". I felt sort of shocked she was so rude due to the fact that I had just selected frames and ordered upgraded lenses. What does she expect, me to come in and drop $300 out of pocket every three months when my child wrecks his fragile and essential appliance? I can literally get them online for less than $20, not to mention that I have a ruler to measure PD if I need to do it in ten seconds myself. But the passive aggression is always hard to call out. So I thanked her and left. So I went in for my appointment a few weeks later. No complaints about the lobby, location, Dr. Oda, the tech that got me started or anything until again, afterward. This time, I found out my insurance would cover $140 frames and that after insurance, basic lenses would cost me still $98 out of pocket. I perused the store looking for any section in my "free" price range. There wasn't anything. Frames were $225-$600 each. So then I went back to the counter and said, "Can I get my PD measurement?" And she said, "We charge $25 dollars for that measurement." So I pointed out that my son hadn't paid extra, and she said that was because he bought his frames from them. They don't charge extra in that case. She also acted like she didn't know the measurement, which she did know from the same exam my son had, she wanted me to come over and have her measure it with a ruler. But I wasn't going to pay $25 more for something I can do myself (I already have an accurate PD from prior doctors). So I asked the same rude woman if they had anything that would require no out of pocket spending, since everything on display was well over my insurance allowance (something that has never ever happened to me anywhere else). She got up, went over to the try on and order desk, pulled out two shallow boxes with flip lids and angrily slid/threw them on the desk and opened the lids where like probably 20 pairs of the ugliest ass glasses were, all jumbled up and haphazard, and she said, "Your insurance covers these ones." And she walked away. I didn't hardly glance in the boxes because they were obviously not better than I could buy for less online and I was very tired of being treated like a burden with ridiculous questions. I asked if I could pay my co-pay and for my upgraded eye pictures. I paid and left. It is bull to go to a doctor, pay for a diagnosis/prescription and have them withhold a measurement that is required in order for me to use my paid for prescription to buy glasses wherever I want. I paid for a prescription when I hired a doctor to diagnose my eyes. Eye doctors should not be in the double dipping, conflict of interest, industry of selling glasses. If I go to a doctor for a diagnosis and the diagnosis requires a prescription for treatment, I should be given a complete prescription to use wherever I prefer. I came home and ordered 3 pairs of fashionable glasses with lenses and stylish frames for less than I would have spent after my insurance kicked in for one pair at this establishment. I will not return. Update to respond: if there were any reason to need a "laminated prescription" that does not include the information required to order glasses, I do not know what that reason would ever be. I was there to get glasses that I knew I needed due to the hundreds if dollars paid for an eye exam. I also know how to exact that measurement by contacting my prior optometrist or reviewing my prior order for glasses. Hiring a doctor to diagnose me and recommend glasses but not give me the information required to get treatment anywhere but at his commission frames sales store doesn't make sense. read more

All of the gals at the front desk were friendly and helpful with my paperwork, taking my payment and scheduling my next appointment. The technician who helped with my eye tests was stellar! It depends on who you are why you are there but I chose an eye exam here because it's near my dentist and they open on a Saturday. Dr Scott Oda the first Dr to probably be truthful and not try to sell me a pair of glasses the last 3 have sold me glasses. I believe him because it was what I was thinking all along my eyes are pretty good I don't feel like I need glasses. Customer Service are a funny one lol but you can't control everything. Let me start off by saying Dr. Oda is great and I would definitely go back to him for all my eye exams. BUT I will never purchase any glasses from this establishment. The woman that works there that is supposedly the one to help you with frames is the rudest person I have ever met. She made me feel like I was bothering her and acted really put out. Incredible. She offered no help and when I'd ask her if certain frames came in different colors or sizes she gave me a sharp "no". She would then come back later and change her answer. This happened on two different occasions. I came back another day hoping it was just a bad day. It was the same thing. I don't know how this place stays in business other than Dr. Oda being so great. I took my prescription elsewhere and got the great service and help I expect when spending $500 out of pocket after insurance. I noticed there are other similar Yelp reviews. Jaina is incredible and always makes sure I am scheduled correctly and that my insurance is all up to date. Summary: While there are many good things going for Lakeland Vision Clinic, nothing can overcome the staff's negligence and lack of customer/ patient concern that left me with no contact lenses in the critical moment that I needed them. The full story: When I scheduled this year's trip to the optometrist, I knew I had a deadline coming up. My husband and I were set to leave for Hawaii in a few weeks, and I was almost completely out of contact lenses. Having gone to Lakeland Vision Clinic with no problems once before, I set up my appointment and was completely upfront about my time-frame. While the short notice meant that I would potentially not receive my new glasses before the trip, there was no reason that I should not have had plenty of time to get my contacts. My appointment went well, Dr. Chow was accurate and personable, and I explicitly mentioned while placing my order for contacts that I needed them before our vacation, and would like to be notified as soon as they came in. I received notification that they had arrived during the week before we left for Hawaii, and just a day or two later we received two more phone calls: my and my husband's new glasses were also ready to be picked up. Now, I could have immediately gone to pick up my contacts and glasses, but this would have meant two drives to Auburn, rather than one, since my husband works all day during the week. I double-checked the office's hours on the website and re-listened to the voicemails left by the clinic about our orders, then made plans to go with my husband to pick everything up on the Saturday before we left for our trip. When we arrived well within the scheduled window of operation that Saturday, we were EXTREMELY dismayed to discover no lights on in the office, and a hand-written sign on the door: "Office closed for Labor Day weekend." This meant that they would not be opening again until regular business hours on TUESDAY, at which point we would necessarily be on a plane. We panicked. We re-listened to the voicemails - three of them - all left during the immediately preceding week. NO MENTION on any of them of the impending office closure. We rechecked the website; again, no mention. We called the office and emailed them in last-ditch hopes that somehow our communications would be intercepted, that there would be a way for me to pick up, at the very least, my contact lenses. Our communications went unanswered (until Tuesday, that is). In the end, while I was able to purchase another supply of contacts while in Hawaii, I spent the first few days of my vacation (not to mention the last few days leading up to it) in a state of worry and annoyance, trying to make arrangements so that I would not be forced to experience the garden island through broken, blurry, old glasses. Additionally, I now have a superfluous order of contacts. All of this could EASILY have been avoided if the staff of Lakeland Vision Clinic had taken just one of MANY opportunities to notify their patients and customers of the schedule change. If it had not been for this one HUGE oversight, I would have easily given Lakeland Vision Clinic 5 stars. For fairness' sake, let me break it down. Pros: 1. Dr. Chow is very personable, and his prescription seems great. 2. The office staff is mostly quite friendly. 3. The glasses are well-made, and had basically no break-in time. Their optician took accurate measurements, and whatever lab they use to make hi-index lenses did a great job. Cons: really, there is just the one, but let me explain why it is so grievous. 1. It would have been extremely easy, and in fact should have been a matter of course, for the staff to mention an IMMEDIATELY UPCOMING office closure when notifying people that their orders are ready to be picked up. That they failed to do so convinces me that they are completely unconcerned about their patient's/ customers' convenience. 2. I mentioned specifically several times when placing my contact lens order that I needed them before we left for our upcoming trip. If they actually followed-through on customer care, a note should have been attached to my order so that this sort of oversight would not have happened (for example, even if it is not standard for them to mention upcoming office closures when notifying patients of orders that have come in, they SHOULD mention that sort of thing to patients who have indicated that they have a limited time-frame). read more

Great service, great warranty on the glasses and quality of glasses is above expected. It was a bit expensive but worth the price. Front desk staff is always courteous and knowledgeable. Most prescriptions and new glasses give me a bit of a headache and getting used to but this prescription is spot on! I wear my glasses without having to adjust at all. Thank you so much! read more
