Firestone Firehawks installed at 25,189 miles on my Ford Fusion. Rotated by Costco at 30,308, 36,234, and 42,285, then at 47498 I'm told that there's uneven wear and they will not honor the warranty for premature wear. Tires that were supposed to last 50-60k lasted 22k. Costco was the only ones to touch my tires, rotate, and air inflation. I WILL NEVER GO TO COSTCO TIRE AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT EITHER. They do not honor their warranty and blame the customer and their vehicle. All tire measurements within 1/32 of each other. $800 tires warrantied for 50k lasted 22k!!! Do yourself a favor and just go to Discount Tires. It's real close by and they actually complete their appointments before walk- ins. Costco Tire is okay if you have all day to wait but when you have an appointment that was booked two weeks in advance for 1045am, you expect to be out of there by noon. On the phone they said Id be first in line. I was there until 2pm waiting for the tires I had purchased online to be installed. Waiting with a cart full of groceries because I was told it would be about an hour when I dropped off my vehicle. Note also that when I first went in, I had to stand in line with people who had no appt. What's the point in an appt. then? It makes no sense. Clearly they completed work for those walk-ins before me. In addition I was given an invoice at the time of installation that my tires should have been $60 less than I paid online. I was told to take it up with costco.com. I did and they would not honor the price from the invoice. So I paid more online than the invoice states. Shady. I purchased tires online and had an appointment for installation at 4:00 PM, they told me it'll be done in 45 mins to an hour. I came back at 5:00 and the guy in front told me they're behind so they'll need another 30-45 mins and that my car is "NEXT". I came back at 6:00 pm before they close and he told me it's still not done, and told me to wait another 30-45 mins. I pulled into the back to wait and saw 4 techs standing around doing absolutely nothing.... Around 6:40 they had 4 tires already mounted just sitting next to the car while they're running around dancing/sweeping the floor.. Ughh Hello??? Put my wheels back on and torque that sh*t so I can leave.. NEVER EVER coming back here. Maybe hire people that actually do their job instead of claiming you're "SHORT STAFFED". read more

Absolutely horrendous customer service. Came in yesterday at 2:42pm and was told by an employee named Manual it would be a 3hr wait for a flat repair and tire rotation. I said I was willing to leave it and would come back at 5:42pm. So I leave and go to Home Depot, met a friend for dinner across the street and came back at 6:00pm. Saw my car in the parking lot and assumed "great, it's done". Go back inside only to be told by an employee, "oh we haven't started yours yet". So I sit on the bench inside for another hour and a half trying to give Costco the benefit of the doubt. At 7:30pm I finally just got my keys and left. Bryce the manager couldn't care less. He proceeds to tell me "we should have offered you an appointment" No ass-clown, you should have pulled my car in at the 2hr mark and worked on it so you could honor the 3hr time frame you told me. That's what you should be done. But, you didn't. He's pretty much a babysitter for all the worthless teenage kids they have working there. You will get no urgency, no hard work, and zero respect of your valuable time from the employees at this Costco Tire Center. Take your business elsewhere. That's exactly what I did the next day. I took my vehicle to Discount Tire in Rancho San Diego the next day and I got a free flat repair and tire rotation in 35 minutes. Not shocked that the Discount Tire manager tells me they hear the same horror stories about the La Mesa Costco. I hope someone from Costco corporate reads this, and knows they are consistently losing money and customers because of the inept employees and managers at the Santee Costco...... Set up an appointment and showed up on time. A person Infront of me in Line did not have an appointment. I was told my car would be ready in 1 hour 15 min. It took over 2 1/2 hours to finish my vehicle. The person that didn't have an appointment got her car back long before I did. I've had multiple issues with the santee tire center. Very unprofessional. I brought my car here as it had a nail in the tire and they are close to our house. I'm glad they could replace the tires but the communication was reprehensible. We dropped off my car on Saturday at 3 pm ish to either repair the tires or notify me if I needed a replacement tire. About 20 to 30 min later a tech calls me to tell me the tire isn't repairable and that I need two new tires. He gives me the price quote and I tell him I'll call him back just to get the okay from my spouse. I mean it is $300 were talking about, no small amount. I call them back 5 minutes later and no one answers. I call them several more times, no one answers. I even try calling a different number associated with the office and nothing. My spouse tries calling, ultimately we get no answer for an hour. Luckily we live close and we could pop on over to ask why they're not answering and to give the go ahead of the new tires. It would have been awful if someone getting their tires repaired lived far or didn't have another car to go see them. We go to the office and I'm in there and there isn't a line to explain why they haven't returned my call or any technician. There is zero people in the office. It is then i finally get a call about the tire. One of them tells me that they've tried calling me Several times and I should have msgs from them. There were no missed calls from them nor messages and then I tell a tech there that I've been trying to call for at least the last hour and a half and he jokingly says this is Costco, you think we answer the phones??? Kind of aghast I would even expect them to answer. This tech then tells me again about the tire needing to be replaced, I tell this tech I've already had this conversation with someone who called. Basically the entire visit was a sh@tshow. The only good thing to come out of this transaction was the 75k mile warranty. read more

When I checked in for my appointment the guy had a hard time finding my tires , then he wrote down the wrong tire size , so I had to let him know that wasn't what I ordered , they told me 2 hours . 3 hours later I come back and they said oh it should be done , I check out and go around to the back to find my car just chillin in the stall , no one backing it out . I waited 10 more mins and finally made eye contact with a guy and asked if someone was going to back my car out or what. He slowly walks over , gets in it and backs it out . As a Member of Costco since it was Price Club in Santee. I felt it necessary to review the Tire Center. A little background, I've bought tires from Costco for many many years. Before that I would head to Discount Tire for all my tire needs. Truck tire, several thousand dollars, many many car tires and batteries have all been purchased at the Poway location. I recently bought four Bridgestone tires a little over 1 year ago. The tires sold me with the 80,000 mile / 6 years guarantee. Here I am back at Costco 1 year and almost 30,000 miles and they told me today they needed replacing. After checking their records, they didn't see the 5,000 mile rotation at a Costco, and for that reason.....No warranty. Tires were rotated while on a road trip to Spokane but didn't get any paperwork on the service (not at Costco in Spokane) So I'm out 4 tires, with even wear and no alignment issue. It's hard to not be upset being a 30+ year customer that has spent 10's of thousands of dollars over the many years. After looking on the internet and Yelp I see that others have had problems with the tire center. I have such a good feeling about confidently shopping at Costco that this was a real kick in the nuts. read more

Walked in at 10am when they opened I did not have an appointment. I was helped bought 4 tires was told they would be done in 3-4 hours. Came back at 3:30pm they had still not started my tires told me I was next and they would be done in an hour and a half. I get back up to the counter at 5:30 and the guy tells me they are just finishing up. At 6:15pm I check in again at the desk the guy goes to check on my car and says it hasn't been started on yet. I was lied to 3 times by 3 different people and over 8 hours later still nothing is done. I ask for a refund and the manager finally shows his face and he could care less. My stepdad had plenty of warranty he had a hole close by where they said they couldn't patch it up. They said to him you need to buy a tire or maybe two because of the rotation. Walk in at 10:39 am for a tire rotation and was told it will take 3 hrs. Came back around 2:20 pm (more than 3 hrs) and was told to wait for another 2 hrs. First time I had a tire rotation here I had about 32k miles on my SUV, and on the receipt it was indicated that my next tire rotation will be 87k miles. So both experiences on this Costco Santee tire center were not positive. Will never come back for sure. read more

We had to return because the work was not done completed correctly. The exact words conveyed to me was... "this is not that big of a deal". Well, if it was your $1200 for tires, I would have to wonder if it would be a "big deal" or not. A simple apology & correct the work to my satisfaction would have sufficed. Got a screw in my tire, so set up an appointment with Albert for tire rotation and flat repair. When I arrived for the appointment, Jay told that it was only set up for for flat repair. Over a two hour wait and not very friendly. No updates or anything unless asked. Always just another half hour more. Nope, I'm going back to Discount Tire. We walked in to purchase tires for our daughter. The gentleman, Abdel, did go to the car to verify the size which is why I gave 1 star. Other than that, it was very obvious that he did not want to help us. When he found out the correct size, he checked his computer and told us he only had 4 but he wasn't going to look for them as he did not know where they were. We asked him to check to see if other Costco Tire Centers had some. We could tell by how quickly he glanced at his computer screen that he truly did not check the other Costco's. We walked out and called the Costco Tire Center in Poway. They confirmed they had the tires we needed in stock. I've been here twice. Both times I had an appointment. On the first visit to have tires installed that were bought in advance through Costco, I had to wait. I wasn't checked in until 45 minutes after my appointment. I even arrived 15 minutes early. Then I waited almost three hours for the install. On my second visit, I arrived 10 minutes early for the rotation of the tires to maintain the warranty. Again I wasn't checked in until 5 minutes after my appointment time. I was told when I scheduled the appointment it would be 45-1 hour. After check in, I was told it would take 1-1/2 to 2 hours. I saved a few bucks buying here over discount tire, but my time is worth more. On both visits, I didn't feel like my business was important and there were more excuses than apologies. read more

Moral of this review is Costco tire center doesn't value safety, nor genuine customer service solutions. I did my shopping today in which I spent roughly a $100 to leave the parking lot to get a large puncture wound from a screw. Within 15 minutes I returned back to Costco but to the tire center where they said my tire was patchable & charged me $11 to patch it. After 90 mins I return to pick up my tire for them to tell me it was not patchable and that they had no tire in stock to replace it with. They had no solution besides stating "well did someone call you? You can put a spare on it" and walked away. After basically being told it wasn't their problem I contacted Firestone down the street in which they said it WAS indeed patchable and they provided me genuine customer service in fixing my tire. This Poway Costco tire location is beyond terrible. If I can give them no stars at all I would except thats not an option. The guys who USED to work at this tire center were super nice, but they're all gone. Everyone of them. Seems like there was some kind of turnover. Now, as soon as customers pull up, they're ready to turn them away. Went there because the tire warning system light on my car was on and I got all 4 of my Michelin tires from there in March right before Covid-19. As soon as I pulled up behind a lady and her car, I can hear one of the tire techs turn the woman away. And they got to me, it was the same. I found out the manager is Andrew, so I'll be complaining to him and on him. Sometimes, management is the problem. You can tell the morale is very low in their tire dept. Scheduled to get a patched install at Costco, told them what had happened got to appointment 4 days later they tell me since I plugged it they have to buy a new tire. Horrible customer service! My first appointment for new tires they told me after I waited 1.5 hours that they couldn't get my lug nuts off so I had to take it back to whoever rotated my tires last... and that they couldn't do my tires that day and didn't know what to tell me. Got home and my husband literally took the lug nuts right off. Called a manager and complained about this and he said he would make me a priority in my next appointment. Had my husband make sure the lug nuts were pretty loose... then went to get the tires (2nd appt) THEN... after waiting over 2 hours when they said they would get me out of there in an hour (I was priority), my husband went to check my tires and one of my lug nuts was different and not the right one. I said I need all my lug nuts back and they told me it "was like that". Definitely wasn't... I think my husband would know having just checked all my lugs over as directed by them that it was not like that. And myself also having put 140,000 miles on my car and cleaning my rims multiple times. Anyways, after them treating me like I was trying to get a free lug nut and that I was lying about this and not helping me I went into the Costco store and asked for the site manager... who then called them and told them to give me the right lug nut (duh) or order me one. They were trying to order after not finding one in store and then said that I didn't get my aftermarket rims there... I did.. so had them check again. Oh now they found It.... I ordered a new set of Michelin tires on line from Costco.com, I had them shipped to the Costco tire center in Santee, Ca. I scheduled an appointment to have them installed, All that went fine. I arrived at 9:45 am my appointment was @ 10:00 all that went fine. My tires were Installed and all was good, I thought!, I got in my car and hopped on the freeway and about 60 miles per hour my steering wheel started to shake violently the faster I went the harder it shook. I turned around and went back and I explained what happened. I was told maybe a wheel weight had came off the wheel, So they took my car back in, and after about 45 min they told me my car was ready. I asked to talk to the manager, I asked him what the had found? He told me they had found nothing wrong, But they had optimized my wheel balancing. (What ever that means?) He also told me I could have front suspention problems? Really My van never shook like that before you changed the tires. I drove away and every thing seemed ok until I got home and looked at my tires and wheels. The right rear has 5+ ounces of weight (I can't see them all) right at the valve stem tps monitor (the heaviest spot of the wheel) They should have broke down that tire and turned it 180 degrees to even out the balance. I suspect they put the front wheel on the back axle to eliminate the vibration. I don't feel confident to bring it back to them. I am going on a long trip soon, This was the only reason I had my tires changed to begin with. Very disappointed, You would think that a place that only mounts and balance's tire's would get it right! read more

Went in to get a battery for my car. There were two staff behind the counter and one customer at the counter being helped when I walked in. They were having a conversation for several minutes before the customer left. Then the two behind the counter were having their conversation before one left to the back room. The other proceeded to make a phone call still without acknowledging my presence. Another customer walked in and sat down on a small bench. I was thinking to myself, should I sit too? I'm not sure how long this will take. I don't want to lose my place in line because I don't think these guys know I'm here., so I stood. After the other staff got off the phone, he finally said in a low voice, (or maybe because of the mask, I barely heard him), as he was walking toward the back with almost his back facing me, "we'll be with you shortly". I thought, sure, they probably need a bathroom break. Meanwhile, more customers enter. Several minutes later one of the staff came out from the back room walking towards the register, immediately asks"is anyone here to pick up their car?" I thought, wait a minute!! I've been standing here waiting patiently to be helped and he asks that question to , by now, a line of customers? I don't care how fast the transaction is to get your car, they haven't been in line waiting as long as I have. And who knows how many in line is there for their car, is he going to help every single one before asking who is here for batteries? It took him maybe several seconds longer to look up a car model for the correct battery than tit was to hand a customer their keys and basic instructions So, I'm not sure what the point of that sequence was. And didn't ask if they could help transfer the heavy battery in my car. Lucky for him, I've been inside a gym and was able to lift and carry it myself, but it was still heavy. Maybe they are short staffed, but no excuse to be short on customer service. They seem to be nice to the male customer ahead of me. Why couldn't I get the same treatment? Ask themselves how they'd like their mother to be treated when she walks into a tire shop they're not working in. read more

Seriously, this Santee Costco Tire place is a scam do not buy your tires here, in the long run, IMO you will replace them more often than normal! They will not prorate tires for premature tire wear. We have two cars, two years ago we bought two full sets est. $1,000 per car. I believe tires are rated for 70,000 miles. They barely last 25,000 before prematurely wearing out. We always take our cars to the dealership for oil changes, they always check the tires. Additionally, we have automatic tire pressure sensors and ensure the tires are always properly inflated. Secondly, we have receipts of the tires being aligned and working in excellent condition. Like clockwork,we get the tires rotated at Costco regularly but yet they denied any type of warranty. The tires they sell here tend to wear it out much faster than other places. And when the tire fails to meet the minimum warranty requirements, they will not prorate them. They deflect responsibility by blaming the driver for negligent driving, under inflation, wheel, alignment, problems, etc. they just make up excuses so that they do not have to warranty the tires. When in fact we have records proving this car was perfectly maintained but they ignore the facts. What they say when they sell you the tires is a whole lot different from when you actually need their support, it seems the hard and fast rule is that they will not prorate the tires for early premature wear. read more

When it was my turn he called out for anyone just picking up so a couple people back in the line got to go and had all kinds of paperwork to go through anyway. Very pleased with Santee Costco Tire Center experience. Had tires installed this morning. Found their price to be the best in the area. Four new Bridgestone Turanza QuietTrack, 215/45R17, for my Prius. They had to order them from Texas and arrived in five workdays. Took $150 off during November discount. Had 11 AM appointment and arrived at 10:35 AM. No line: walked up to counter and was checked in immediately. Very kind lady behind the counter (sorry that I can't mention her name here because I forgot to get it before leaving). She told me that installation would take about 1.5 hours. Went inside the warehouse to look around and wait. Was pleasantly surprised when I got a call 46 minutes later telling me that my vehicle was ready. The "lady behind the counter" explained the warranty, gave me the little sticky for my windshield to remind me to rotate the tires in 5K miles, and thanked me for my business. All this took a little over an hour! This was money well spent. From buying the tires and having the Tire Center place the order, getting a call telling me that the tires had arrived, making the installation appointment in person, and having the work done, was a very clean and easy process. Free tire rotation every 5-7K miles, free 5-year Costco warranty, Nitrogen tire inflation (they even have Nitrogen tire inflation pumps behind the Tire Center for frequent pressure checks by customers), and great customer service...yes, it was money well spent! Cannot say anything about the new tires yet but expect great service from them. It is my fourth set of new Bridgestone tires in last three cars and have gotten great service from all. If you need great tires at competitive prices and great customer service, then visit the Santee Costco Tire Center. Tell them I sent you. read more
