If I could give this mechanic zero stars I would. I went in to get my knock sensor fixed - and on my way home from getting that fixed at Karoomi's (not even 2 miles away and not on the freeway), my car caught on fire and was eventually declared totaled. I'm not sure what they did - but I'm pretty sure it directly impacted my car catching on fire. Thank God the kids weren't in the car with me. As soon as I got out of the car (after seeing black smoke billowing out of the hood), the doors locked. I would have been trapped along with any kids in car seats. It could have been so much worse. Not only that, but we pursued legal action and discovered that the shop had a lapse in insurance coverage at the time that my car was serviced. Why did they have a lapse of coverage? Because they didn't meet safety standards. So not only did we have to buy a new car in an awful market for car shopping - but we weren't able to be compensated for the damages and trauma that we experienced as a result of what should have been a simple fix. I was on the 52 East when my low tire pressure light came on. I got off the next exit, Magnolia, and saw Karoomi's. I was met by George and he was so nice and friendly. He pulled my car into the bay, checked the tires, refilled the one that was low and didn't charge me. Went for a diagnosis, found out I had about 5 different problems and it would have been an estimated $1300 for parts and labor anywhere else. These guys, especially Oliver, took care of us and had us passing smog out the door the next day for way lower than anyone else was willing to do it for. I hate to give these rating as I know how important ratings are but I was extremely disappointed with the service I was given. I went in because my car was acting funny, as most do, and was greeted with friendly customer service. They same like nice people. Unfortunately they we not able to figure out the problem, which is understandable, but didn't want to miss out on an opportunity to make money off of me and their time spent. Rather than saying that and letting me decide, they came up with a wild answer for why my car was acting the way it was, and when I was going to proceed to get the work done they begun to make excuses about how their diagnosis might not fix the problem, and how they might not be able to get the part needed. Even the receipt for diagnosis didn't give any details. It was obvious they didn't know and created a problem in order to charge me for the diagnostic check. It was dishonest and almost cost me $1.5k+ for something that wouldn't have fixed the problem. In all it was only $129 dollars I spent but left a bad taste in my mouth when I went to another shop and they were able to diagnosis my problem that day and fix the problem at a reasonable price. Honesty is so important in this field and this is why I am taking the time to write this review. I expected more from them but was left with the reminder that nice customer service doesn't mean fair and honest business. Updated: Since the store owner claimed to not be able to find my name in his system, conveniently, I added a picture of proof that this was the right location. They are not educated enough about cars and will tell you that they can work on it, instead, they make a small issue big and still want to charge for the time they kept the car by them and for their poor work. Adam made my car's issue worse, which led me go somewhere else to fix it after charging me so much money. The new mechanic was smart enough and showed me the poor quality of work Adam did. Brought my car there to get fix with a issue of code p0340. called me up said, they found 3 codes. Pick up the car, said it was fix. Cost me a $600. After 2 days the check engine light up again. I brought the car back for warranty, They say they going to look at it. Next thing you know. They said that there is a new problem? The code they found out is p0305 something to do about misfire? That the car need a new spark plug and wired set. So, I asked them what was the 3 codes they found and told them to write it down. This are the codes p0320,p017 and p019. I asked them what happen to the code p0 340. The first reason a brought the car there to get it fix. They told me that that never saw that code p0340 and that they will charge me another $400 for another repair and they will not fix it for free because is not related to the first code." Sound fishy to me, already." Make the story short. So i said, "Go fix it. Pay another $400. Guess what? Driving my car for one day. The check engine lights up again. I dont fucking believe!!! The code i saw was p0340 again. Cost me a fucking $1000 for screwing me & not fixing my car. All i can say is "Better watch out for that place. The people that fucking works there is very Dishonest. I enjoy coming to Karoomi's for all my auto needs on my cars. My car is very important to be able to do my jobs sufficiently. My primary job is I work for a MOBILE DR'S unit called Heal. Myself and a Dr. (pediatrics, family medicine, or internal medicine), travel to a patients home and deliver care in the privacy of their own comfortable environment. Which is pretty awesome experience for mothers, the sick, and the elderly. I use my car also as a driver for my other jobs also. Adam never lets me down with his fast and efficient service. We are so happy with our services recently done for our car. While on vacation and having some work done to our home I went to the car wash next door. Well to my surprise after I could not start my car. Thank goodness the mechanic shop is in the same parking lot. They kindly pushed my car over to them for me. Adam was very helpful. Turns out my starter had gone out. Then the radiator went out the next day or so. All the above as well as a couple other issues were repaired for an awesome price and rapid turn around.
