Costco is often a great experience. Parking was surprisingly easy, staff were unsurprisingly friendly, and food court wait time was minimal. Unlike other Costco stores I have been to, here you handed over your food receipt at the food court counter instead of waiting for them to call your number. Not a big deal, but I figured I'd mention it. One thing that really stood out was that the bathroom stalls had strips to block anyone from seeing into a stall, which is always embarrassing and awkward so I'm impressed and grateful these privacy strips exist. read more

I love that Costco finally reinstated Executive Membership hours. It is so much easier to shop from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. The store is very clean and well organized. This is the only Costco that I have been to that when you purchase a gift card, the cashier has it brought to the register and it's usually there as I finish paying. All other Costcos I have been to make you go to a pick up station. They should all adopt this Costco's process. Every team member was friendly. read more

I love Costco, but I don't like the cash back program at all! I got a paper with a barcode in the mail. First I have to remember to take it into the store (I forgot several times). Then I need to remember to use it at the checkout. But I went to the self-checkout and was told after scanning all of my items that I couldn't use it at self-checkout and I had to go stand in line at a staff occupied checkout. Then they couldn't get the barcode to read and had to cancel the entire order and start over scanning. This rigamarole was ridiculous! Just take the cash back off of my credit card bill! read more

All Costcos are good, mainly because the CEO isn't a greedy pig and the workers are paid pretty well so they generally like what they are doing. Costco is seriously better than the rest of the genre. And the prices, so good that the place is insanely busy. No better gasoline prices anywhere, enough savings to make it worth it to wait in line. Gasoline lines like 1973, only with a little less rancor because this is Western Michigan. No better prices on computers. No better prices on cat litter. That's all I really need, gasoline, cat litter, and a computer. That's all I need in this world. And this lamp. My husband and I were there on Sunday. This is not the first time we go to customer service to ask a simple question. Two women working in customer service are rude and snarky and have no manners. They treat you like you're doing them a favor. First of all, they don't let you talk and they do all the talking and don't fix the problem. We thought customer service is a friendly and good manner job. One thing we're going to do is cancel our membership and go to Sam. We are people that never complained but like I said this is the second time we've been in the customer service and we have talked to the same Two women and they're the worse. I come here to buy some of my groceries. It saves money and time. They have good offeres on winter clothes and electronics devices. I usually buy fruits,olive oil,nuts and beef from here. Double the amount with less Price. When I finish shopping, I buy some food from their food station located after the cashier. I love their pizza and sandwiches . Stopped for gas while passing through the area and decided to make a real visit out of the stop by coming into the store to use the restrooms and then getting something to eat at their Food Court. We've tried a number of items at the Food Courts in other Costco locations and for something quick, tasty, low cost, and filling it's hard to beat the Costco 1/4lb Hot Dog and refillable Soft Drink for $1.50. I did Instacart for sometime and I was taking orders from Costco as it was easier to navigate and checkout lines, even though are usually PACKED, but go through decently fast. Costco has been overly crowded during this unprecedented times. They should limit the amount of people going on. Just because the warehouse can fit everyone doesn't mean , they should stuff everyone in. On the contrary, They seem to be doing a good job with the items availability. Rude and snarky managers. My husband was shopping there and when checking out the cashier could not understand what he was saying because he was wearing a mask. He pulled it down to speak and a manager came up to him and said " Do you have an aversion to wearing a mask?" Luckily the cashier spoke up and defended my husband. Good thing I was not accompanying him! Nevermind the fact that masks do not protect anyone from a virus! I'm a healthcare professional and I know something about infection control! Can't say that I'm all that impressed with Costco overall, but they do offer a wide variety of items for sale. All-in-all, the cleanliness of the facilities, the friendliness and professionalism of the staff is on point, but it's just another warehouse store where you find yourself buying things in bulk that you may not need unless you're a restaurant. I often grab a bite to eat or drink from their cafe and it's cheaaaaap. Costco-Kalamazoo is a "good" store; the employees throughout the warehouse floor are great! The prices, because of inflation, have gone up and packaging is notably "shrinkflation" but overall is now a $300 "visit." The produce cannot be beat, as well as most items throughout the store. There is also the convenience of ordering online. It is annoying to hear "It's a seasonal product" (i.e., soups, candy, desserts, bakery items, etc.). Guess you can't have it all. But where the store falls apart is in BOTH the hearing aid and optical departments! It's not the merchandise IT'S THEIR EMPLOYEES. Best word to describe them (not all, though) is SNIPPY! Another single word is IMPATIENT. There are other single-word adjectives that fall into the category but I'll leave that to others. Overall, I did take away one star because of hearing and optical, and will add it's "hit and miss" at the service desk as to what "mood" some of them are in. But overall, the floor staff is very good, helpful, and sometimes will even show you to the aisle (they purposefully move items around), or look up on a hand-held computer. Usually, the answer will be "seasonal" (not their fault!). read more

If it's bulk you're looking for, this is the place. So S, my niece, and my mother decided that today was going to be a day to get some shopping done- and why not take a ride up to the Costco to get some bulk stuff that we seem to go through like gangbusters? Stuff like batteries (my niece's toys eat these like candy), wet cat food (you go through this stuff quicker than you think) and more junk food (because fancy cheese plates just aren't game night things, yeah?). With a few caveats, this place has pretty much everything you could ever want or need. We walked in and at first, I was kind of overwhelmed- there is a lot of stuff here, and between the store and the website, there's not much you couldn't buy from Costco- you could even buy a car or central air for your house. Our first stop here, though, was to get a bite to eat. There's a small cafeteria and food window here- but they have really good pizza and really cheap food. Three giant pieces of pizza, two hot dogs and four drinks for ten bucks is a pretty amazing deal. Then the fun started- I found my first good deal with a four- pound container of Jelly Bellys for fourteen bucks- compared with ten bucks for two pounds at the Wal-Mart. Forty AA batteries for fifteen bucks, a giant box of wet cat food cans for twelve, a pallet full of Arnold Palmers for eight... this place is really a paradise if you're looking to stock up a lot of stuff. But there are a number of downsides- like the fact that you can't just go out and buy one or two things- if you want one or two containers of bleach wipes, you'll have to go ahead and buy a plastic-wrapped bulk set of them. I was maybe going to buy some steaks, to try the meat- but well... as seen in the picture, they don't carry single or double trays- if you want to try the meat, you'll end up buying a big load of it- like fifty dollars worth of steaks if you just want to try one. They do look like good steaks, though... The other big problem is that they don't carry every single size of clothes they have in-store. If you're big, tall, or (like me) big and tall, you'll have to order your things online. Also, if you have a specific brand, you might not get it here- all the wet kind of cat food they had we could find were just Fancy Feast and Friskies- if you're looking for 9-Lives, you might want to shop elsewhere. In the end, we were really happy with what we bought and the deals we got on it. I imagine the next time we're here, we'll have a battle plan as to what we want to buy... read more

This review is not particularly for the Kalamazoo location it is regarding an online order for appliances. If you are thinking about buying appliances from Costco DON'T DO IT! The more I think and right about this the more angered I become. I do NOT recommend purchasing appliances from Costco we did so always having such good experiences with Costco. We purchased a new washer and dryer, the delivery person was supposed to have hooked up both and verified they worked. The dryer did not have the correct gas hook up so we had to have someone else come and take care of that which was understandable. I gave them a pass for this (it says in thr email they sent ahead of time that gas hookup connections are the buyers responsibility). However the washing machine was another story. I was completely disappointed with Costco and the company they used to deliver. They never got the washing machine working, and said they had to leave. They hauled away our washer. My husband and I went out of town for the weekend and my daughter called and told me that there was water leaking down our wall! I had someone we knew come and look at it and he told me that it was leaking into our wall! He also fixed our dryer. He could not fix the washer but did fix the leak because thr installer did not tighten the connection. So basically they delivered a broken washer and took away my washer that was not great but worked and now I am being told it will be 3-4 weeks until I get a replacement!!!! I repeat 3-4 weeks!!!! This is such , I would have never given the guy my old washer to haul away if I knew my new one wasn't going to work! just be warned do not buy Appliances from #Costco. Oh and then I got an email with photos of the washer and dryer in my laundry room with a confirmation that they were hooked up and working, total BS! We just bought our second set of new tires, for car #2, and both times we have been very happy with the price, service and quality of Costco's tire center. We really enjoy Costco, Kalamazoo. Unlike other club stores, Costco carry's higher quality goods, and at better prices. They have an abundance of organic foods from fruits and vegetables, to meat, cheese, coffee and snacks. They do have a more limited variety in order to carry better quality. Costco focuses on consumers while other club stores focus on small businesses. Their gasoline is always at least three cents cheaper than anybody and usually up to $.25 cheaper. I just wish the also had ev parking. Tires are way cheaper too. I have compared to others who guarantee lower prices and Costco is consistently lower. Finally the staff is always friendly and helpful, even when the store is super busy. But if cheap is your only goal you may not find it, if quality and value at the best price mater most try it. read more

I have been coming here since day one. I too having been a member at Sam's didn't expect much, but I had heard great things from others around the country over the years, so I was very excited. We are gluten free and chemical free, and there are many options. I even found Namaste brand of gluten free all purpose flour. I always buy the organic chicken, whole and parts, and the organic ground beef, that is half the price of other store around town. A benefit is you don't have to go every week. Besides toothpaste for a year, I also have toothbrushes for a year for whoever might come to visit without a toothbrush. I feel secure knowing I will always have paper towels stacked up in the basement for whenever I may spill something. The gas discount is a bonus. I stop at Starbucks, get a coffee, shop with the coffee in hand, and then fill up the car. All in all a pleasant experience. Oh and for beer lovers a great selection! read more

This is the second year that we have Costco membership and we are enjoying it so far. Even though it's only two people in our household, we usually buy necessities here since it's reasonably cheaper especially for water and etc. The gas prices used to be remarkably cheaper than other gas stations around however, for the past six months, we noticed that it doesn't make that much difference anymore. More of less of three cents. That's a shame. I hope they bring back the gas prices down. I love going to Costco as soon as they are open on Saturday mornings and that's when we can shop in peace. Overall, it's been good so far. If you are hungry after shopping, don't forget to stop by the cafeteria. They have a varieties from pizza to sandwiches. Smoothies and sundaes are there as well. Great prices and generous food portions. Our faves are cheese pizza( don't forget to ask for parmesan) and mixed berries smoothies ( wished it were less sugary, then it will be perfect) read more

Disappointing store compared to others. Super small, limited selection. Shocked at the rotisserie chickens being so small at this location. No fresh parmesan cheese, produce very limited. NO boxes to pack up food....no traditional receptacle with boxes to use, have to beg at the checkout, and all super small. All but one food sample provider looked bored and in "paycheck collecting" mode. The one who did their job well and with pride was a real stand out. The size of the building from the exterior is deceiving, super small inside. BIG disappointment after seeing so many well done ones around the country. I had to visit the Customer Service desk... 20 minutes later I finally got to the front of the line. One worker apologized to the crowd several times for the wait but certainly didn't open another station and help, just stood there watching. All in all, skip this location. read more

My daughter and husband went here tonight because as advertised online, there was a phone deal going on. At the cellular service desk area, the rep was unprofessional, claimed they had the deal there then immediately turned to his friend/coworker and asked about Blaze pizza, as if they were ordering food, right then and there, in the middle of helping my husband and daughter out, as if they weren't even standing there by him. After waiting, the rep told them that location wasn't doing the deal, that only certain Costco's were doing it. Hopefully these guys are not Costco employees. If they are, Costco needs to rethink their hiring process. Look, Costco is SAMs Club. They carry the same kind of stuff. For New Years Eve we bought salmon dip, SALTY, a meat tray, SALTY, and an olive tray, SALTY. Now is expect an olive tray to be salty. Because, well, olives are inherently salt. But, the amount of oil and nasty tasting cheeses within was beyond comprehension. Either put out a better product, or don't bother. Just put out a "Salt Tray" and call it good. Because that is exactly what we bought! After the party we threw out everything we purchased. It was a total waste of money. We spent Money to Save Money, Membership. Did we save money by throwing out food we bought? It was not worth eating. When my membership expires I will not renew. Discount gas for Costco members. Generally averaging about $0.20/gal cheaper than local gas stations. Costco says their gas is "top tier" and extra clean, so that's a bonus too. The only catch is that their hours are only during the day, so plan accordingly. read more

Love this place. Cheap(er) gas, good service, been a member since they opened. Never a bad experience. Gas lines can get long at peak hours, and an amazing amount of people perplexed by a gas pump can make it worse. The constant re-arranging of the store can be a little frustrating to find what you are looking for. If you see something with a star on the price tag, buy it if you need it, as it is going out of stock. read more

I'm a big Costco fanatic. Been going to Costco since its Price Club days and back when the hot dog combo was $1. Even though they don't sell polish dogs at the cafe (they sell hot dogs and brats instead here), La Croix and the croissants are where it's at--plus olive oil, Charmin TP in bulk and Viva paper towel rolls. LOVE! What I find especially convenient is their Costco online--you can shop for goodies from the comfort of your own home, and some items will come with free shipping! Returns are also super easy because they only need to scan your membership card--no receipt required. read more

I haven't been to Costco since I heard you guys were mandating the masks, but I went today because my brother wanted to take a Costco trip, so I wore the stupid mask and shopped. When I was checking out the cashier made us cover our noses and talked to us like we were in elementary school, not to mention they have limits on everything. She put back some of our items which is so stupid, no one is overbuying salmon right now. I stock up because I live about an hour away. My sister has a membership my brother has a membership and my husband and I have a membership, we spent around $500 today. I went to the location in East Lansing, MI to check it out. I found a table that I really liked and decided that I would get a membership and buy the table. I went home to get the truck and came back a while later and they were all sold out. A few days later, my husband called and asked if they were getting any of the tables in. They told him no, but that the Kalamazoo location had them, but at a different price. If we went there, they may honor that price. I drove to the Kalamazoo, MI location and showed the picture that I took of the description and price that the other location had. I asked if they would honor that price. I was told no. I asked if it would be marked down soon and they said that they don't know if something will be marked down ahead of time. No one offered to contact 'corporate' to see if it was going to be marked down and no one tried to accommodate me at all. I tried to contact the customer service number listed on their website, but there is no option to talk to anyone aside from the 5 items listed to push a button for. So, I will never open a Costco membership...ever! I will continue to spend my money at Sam's Club. It is a shame too, because with having several office locations to stock up on a regular basis, it is their loss. read more

This store is a nightmare with terrible customer service. We purchased a couch there and no one would help us move the boxes to the curb. It seem to be a HUGE inconvenience that we were trying to spend $1800 there. The staff all seem cocky. Just trying to push people through the lines as fast as possible then make us feel like we are stealing items on the way out. There we 8 carts trying to get out of the store after the purchase to check every single item. Paying money just to shop at a snooty store hardly seems worth my time or patience. My wife got a free trial pass to Costco from work, so we checked it out--what a shit-show. Disorienting, poorly-organized, overwhelming and not even that cheap. They attempt to cover way too much ground and you have no idea what the next aisle might hold (though EVERYTHING from food to hardware to electronics looks the same because it's all stacked 50' to the ugly ceiling in shrink-wrapped pallets). We picked up a handful of things, but definitely won't be joining up for a membership; just stepping foot in stores like that is a nightmare to me. Also, in America "jumbo size" often means "many smaller ones bundled together with extra layers of packaging," so no thanks. Though they seem to have a bit more organic stuff than your average supermarket, the bakery goods were all poor quality (couldn't tell if they bake in-house or ship things in from California, nothing seemed fresh, soft or fragrant), and the fruit/veg were mostly cloaked in various kinds of non-recyclable plastic. The best thing I can say about them is that they pay their workers a better wage than their competitors do, but not much else impressed me and I won't be going back. I prefer to shop local, where I know people and can find my way around the store in less than 2 hours. read more

This is located in s beautiful shopping center amongst other favorite shopping stores. Plenty of parking for everyone, even on a busy Sunday afternoon. The gas station is located right before the store at the main entrance and is very congested making parking a nightmare. Once past the gas station traffic it's easy to find a spot. The store is set up like all other Costco's and is easy to grab a cart and walk in perusing the isles and seeing all the samples. One thing I like about this store is above the product it lets you know if it's a featured item. Which means it's being sampled that day. I love samples. Here's why; I get to taste it before I buy. With picky kids at home if they like it I'll buy it. If not it doesn't get a second look. Some items I've been dying to try but wanted to wait till it on sale before spending to much money on ifnkf it's not good. Also, if I really like I'll buy several packages. And it may be a product I normally wouldn't try or buy. Trying it sometimes surprises me and I love it. Then I'll buy it. Today the store was very very busy. And the isles were packed which meant waiting for people to decide on Things or waiting for people to move. I wasn't in a hurry so I didn't care. Still not used to my local story being so busy.
