This was a pit stop for us and to gas up the car and have a car picnic. Costco does what they do and poured us around the store with tons of samples and a stack of Huckleberry bread...we dove into that when we got back to the car... store is clean, organized, employees were friendly, bathrooms clean, and gas price of $3.42 was good. As a Costco executive member for over a decade, I have made very few returns but never had a problem. Today a very rude young man in customer service refused to take back a defective mixer because I did not have the "accessories", three plastic shake bottles. I live over two hours away and he flippantly told me to just come back another day and then lectured Me on How Costco policies are different. Costco is awesome!!! I love it so much, I wish they would bring back their churros though, I have been LONGING for some. It is better because the food is cheaper for people who aren't as fortunate. Anyway I love shopping there. When I want to get avocados and fruit, everybody in my family says "COSTCO!!" The workers are so nice to me and I love that they have people who have samples around the store, it makes me buy more stuff (even though I don't need it.) I got a lot of food that my whole family loves and I am going to the lake this weekend and I was going to go somewhere else to get a canoe, but Costco had one for a cheaper price! My kids love their free samples and will go there with me just for that. They do not only have food, but playhouses, toys, outdoor's gear and more! I've been a Costco member for over 15 years now. This is definitely the place I come to when I want to purchase bulk items and wine. They have a large wine selection, and carry many higher end wines that your typical grocery store doesn't. My BIGGEST pet peeve about Missoula's Costco, and the reason why I took off two stars is the parking lot. For anyone who has ever shopped here before, you know what I'm talking about. I have never seen another Costco with a parking lot as terribly designed as this one. Each lane is set up for cars to only go one way, which is fine except that there are constantly people who just sit there and wait for cars to pull out, slowing down the flow of cars. I learned quickly to just go directly to the far end of the parking lot to avoid that. As far as the items Costco sells, I have no complaints. The quality of their products more than make up for the annual membership fee. They carry many items you cannot find elsewhere in town. The Kirkland brand has a lot of great products for a store brand. My best advice would be to come in the morning right after they open or right before closing time in the evening. Don't use their tire service! I had new tires on and within 3o miles one tire sheared all the bolts off and the whee came completely off the truck, come to find out all the wheels were loose and they never tighten down any. They have refused to pay for any of $6000 in damages as well. Beware, as there are so many people trying to get their new toes on they don't take the time to make sure they are on right at all! I went to buy tires and they told me the ones I wanted were ten days out but a better tire and more expensive tire would only take two days. They took seven days. When I went in for the installation they said an hour and they would text me when finished. Two hours later I walk out to find my car finished; still no text. I get the keys and ask for a manager who says he will talk to the tire manager and come find me in the store to give me a resolution. He is gone when I look for him. They lied to me and gave the worst customer service I have had in forever. read more

I am a member, and I am very disappointed in many ways. The first is that I was told they have wet cat and dog food. They do not right now! They said there is a supply shortage. This is one of the reasons why I joined. The 2nd is there is not a restaurant or food court. They said it is being built. Third of all is that many items are actually priced lower at Wal Mart and at Winco. Management is not helpful; they do not answer questions. I am mixed race, and I am disappointed for two things. The lack of people of color working at the store. Also, the lack of senior citizens that are employed. The only ones I ever see are giving out food samples and they do not work for Costco. Also disappointing is that I believe they only accept Visa credit cards and no other. It is also irritating that there is a person at the exit that checks your receipt. Does Costco not trust its customers? The gasoline prices are higher or equal to other gas stations. I have customer perks cards for free with other gasoline station in Montana. Love Costco and the shopping and what they have to offer. However me and my daughter went to try out the newly opened kitchen ordered a pizza on the machines that sit in front of the kitchen area, the guy yells out my number then asks me what my name is, he then asks if I ordered on the phone I said no I ordered on the machine right here he goes on to say that next time I order from there don't chose ordered by phone, I told him I did not pick that option it's not on the machine he argues and says actually it is an option and walks off with my order ticket. I look on the machine and there is absolutely no option to order by phone that would just make no sense anyway. We waited over 15 minutes for our pizza, I ask if my ticket was still up because he took it down earlier. The lady found my ticket, she then tells my number out I get my pizza no cup, when I ask for a cup she looks at my ticket almost as if I was lying I had ordered a soda as well. We get soda and they are all watered down so we just throw it away. I take the pizza not looking at it. When I get home the pizza was in a complete mess I don't think I will be trying this place again worse experience I have ever had. read more

Costco is the main place that I shop and I think a lot of this is because of the high quality ingredients and the ability to buy bulk items which I can freeze. When you live far away from stores it's nice to have things in your freezer and pantry that you can use. So I pretty much just shop once a month here and get a few other essentials occasionally at local supermarkets and Walmart. But Costco is the way to go and so is their gas station for affordable gas. I had my first churro, chicken caesar salad and ice cream chocolate bar dipped in almonds at this Costco. Now, the food court at this location has its own room and a door. So, you will get some peace and quiet from Costco shoppers and their carts. A churro is basically a Spanish donut. Costco's version is very tasty and not too sweet. It had a soft and crispy texture. It was nicely flavoured with a light coating of cinnamon and sugar. I love the fact that it wasn't really greasy and it tasted very light. You gotta try it! The chocolate coated vanilla ice cream bar dipped in crushed almonds was epic! It was the biggest ice cream bar I've ever seen in my life! They dip the super premium - yep, that's what they call it - vanilla bar in the thick coating of dark chocolate and dip it again with a lot of crushed almonds. It felt like it weighed about 1 lb. If you have carpal tunnel syndrome, you might even have wrist pain from holding this ice cream bar. The price is out of this world too - only $ 1.50 and no tax in Montana. I also had a chicken caesar salad. It was huge and it was enough to serve two hungry people. The lettuce tasted very fresh, there were large chucks of chicken with only a few roma tomatoes. The caesar salad dressing tasted perfect with the salad. Three tasty items for less than $6.50. Awesome! read more

I used to LOVE Costco. My opinion has changed over the last few years. They used to have a fantastic frozen Turkey Breakfast sausage from Tyson. They discontinued it years ago and have never returned it. They also used to be able to produce my high index eye glasses. They decided to discontinue them. Then my eye doctor decided to leave Costco. I followed him. THEN they decided to discontinue their printing options including photo albums. I and my 80 year old mother had developed many albums between the two of us. She did several genealogical photo albums that took her several years to compose. Costco did not allow her to download these albums so she could print them elsewhere. They also were really callous in their response to her pleas about this issue. Also, our newly remodeled Costco now has a really smelly tire center at the entrance when you walk into the store. I don't want to go there any more. So sad... read more

We rolled into town, long-time Costco customers, needing our tires rotated. We had bought tires at Costco in years past, but the current set on our vehicle were not bought at Costco. No problem, the tire guy assures us, they can do that, but they have to charge for it since we didn't buy our tires there. We gladly paid, and then went to grab a bite in their cantina. A while later, the tire guy tells us they can't rotate our tires, because we didn't buy the tires at Costco. Well, they could surely find a SKU for a tire rotation service, and they surely charged us for it, and assured us it would be no problem. This was the end of the day, and we were on a road trip, and needed our tires rotated. By the time Costco got around to telling us we couldn't get our tires rotated, there was no place left open in town. Turns out, they lied to us about the reasons they wouldn't rotate the tires, too. In general, we're the Costco family. Most of what we've bought in the last dozen-odd years, has come from Costco. But, they'll never see another dime of my tire business, and I'm going to start weaning us away from their other products. I don't like being lied to, and I don't like anyone wasting my time. I wish that I could provide a 5 star review of my experience at this particular Costco location, but unfortunately I wasn't let inside as I arrived at 6:01pm on a Sunday evening. 6:01pm, I promise that's accurate because after I was turned away and walked back to my car the clock on the dashboard read 6:02pm. My husband and I had travelled an hour from Hamilton to gather a few items for the 4th of July as well as a few waters and necessities as our road was under Stage 1 evacuation warning due to the Observation fire. My list was no more than 5 items. As I rushed, a woman named Kathy stopped me saying they were closed. I explained that we had driven an hour and that I would be super quick (my list was in hand). She continued to say they were now closed and couldn't let me in. "They would have my job" she explained. Have your job? Over displaying good customer service and general kindness? As a small business owner myself I find that highly unlikely. To let her off the hook of potentially loosing her job that she feared over this, I asked if I could speak to her manager. To which she declined. I was shocked. Now I don't know Kathy's story, perhaps she had a long day or was anxiously waiting to get off work so that she could begin her 4th of July celebrations. Both of which I understand, but turning away a customer over 1-2 minutes? Customers that pay annually to be Costco members? That I can't fathom. I do hope that Costco management instills a higher level of customer service to their employees because if Kathy does fear losing her job over something like this I would be very disappointed in Costco's business practices. But just a headsup for those of you who are looking for a GREAT dinner. Go to the meat department and buy the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. It is absolutely delicious. I don't always shop costco but when I do, I leave with a ton of stuff AND usually no complaints. Except the membership/return desk is a cluster fuck of chaos every time. There is no order, no control and in general just a free for all of who you can grab to help. It frustrates me to no end. Sometimes they stand there and refuse to make eye contact so they don't have to help you. This is one place they should consider moving people around cuz they don't seem to like to deal with people BUT that is a big part of their job. Went in to do my shopping (have a business so buy the same stuff every 3/4 weeks). 3/11/2020 330ish. There is a lot of hand washing in my business. I got just under my normal amount as I saw they were a little low on things - so 3 paper towels, 4 bottled waters, 2 garbage bags. They had no toilet paper so off to search for that. I did not see a "limit sign" on the paper towels. I was informed I could only buy 2 paper towels at checkout. I didn't know ...but the checkout ladies saw the name of my business on my Costco visa so said they would ask for an override (due to the type of business I own). It wasn't a huge deal but it was nice if it could go through so I didn't need to go to walmart for my allotment for those too. So I let them ask. What happens next is what troubles me. The panicked manager said "no" and then began to carry off some of my bottled water as well. The checkout ladies stopped him saying I could have up to 5 of the waters (I had less), so I was fine on those. They had to tell him a couple of times. He scanned my cart, as if I was a criminal. God forbid I didn't see the limit sign on paper towels and grabbed 3 instead of 2, so I must be a devious person, right? Instead of being treated like a business owner buying the regular stuff I was treated as a hoarder. By the guy in charge (I assume). The checkout ladies were great. They saw my business type, and trusted I had not seen the sign. It's nice when people believe it's an innocent mistake and don't assume bad about others. I wasn't upset about the refusal to let me get enough paper towels, but rather by how he treated me, and his panicked energy. Having said that - Schools and restaurants need paper towels if they want people to dry their hands safely after washing. Other businesses must have people who need those supplies as well. We need toilet paper to open our doors. The problem isn't the limit. The problem is this was happening in Australia 2-3 weeks ago. Any marketing person should know about social trending. Why did they allow people to come in and buy pallets of toilet paper and paper towels even after seeing what was happening in our sister Country weeks ago? It was all over the news. Why can't they do any cognitive leaping and accept a small override in order to assure businesses continue to run as they should? Why does the manager seem like he is panicking? Leaders should be calm and be able to think critically. If you cannot engage in cognitive leaping and think of what you're doing why are you in charge? Why did he assume I was hoarding, and begin to carry off some of my other items? If people just cannot think - due to society being too far gone - create an algorithm for what people buy so you can see its their norm - not some hoarder coming to stock up for the end times. I don't like how he was. I don't like being treated like I'm being greedy when I am in fact buying just under my normal amount. I don't like picking up on that panicked energy so it means Im leaving costco with my heart racing. I don't like that I need to share this in order to educate the people running these stores about what they are feeding into and perpetuating by behaving as if it truly is the end of the world, or having to tell them forward thinking is important for success. Why was this allowed to happen? I will be looking for an online source from here on out that is business friendly. I'll be asking them if their managers have the foresight to see abnormal purchases happening and stop it so society doesn't come to a halt due to doomsday preppers, or mass panic. Ill also make sure they have good emotional regulation skills so I am never made to feel like that again for trying to purchase things for my business. I need a company that is dedicated to businesses, and not too far stretched. Costco isn't about businesses anymore - clearly. When I started with them over two decades ago they were. That time has passed. Also, for what it's worth take it easy on the disinfectant sprays. Its great to clean but its not good to inhale that stuff. DO NOT get a membership at this Costco! When we got our membership here, they advertised a number of items that I would recieve coupons for... some to be discounted, some to recieve free. Unfortunately, when I went to use the coupons, a number of the items had been discontinued. They did not allow a substitute item or offer any other discount to compensate for their discontinuation of items. The only suggestion made was that I cancel my membership and get my money back for that. I usually am very happy shopping at Costco, but am no longer much of a fan. A costco that is starting to show its age. Some of the carts look like they are from the 70's. The parking lot is the worst design for a parking lot I've ever seen and the lanes are small and so are the spaces. The people seem happy to work here though and are very happy. read more
