History

Established in 2010.

CWC derived from the owners passion for dressing up and throwing the best parties. As a professional actress - for a stint of her life, she missed the creativity she had from being on stage and bringing her characters to life. She also loved vintage clothing and accessories, which she had collected throughout her many travels. The collection soon out grew closets and even a storage unit, which sparked the business idea. Great use of the vintage pieces, helping customers create their true character and then incorporating it all - into parties, sounded like a fabulous business plan. Which brings us to the now existing Costumes With Character.

Meet the Business Owner: Jennifer C.

I love being creative and seeing the customers big smile, after we've put our heads together and have created the coolest character. Normally an "original", in that the majority of my rental in the store, are one of a kind, vintage pieces - collected over a twenty yr span. I loved vintage, before vintage was "cool". I wore a 1950's prom dress, to my prom - in the 90's and got the same looks Molly Ringwald got in Pretty In Pink. The dressing up in costume, also added to my love for the stage and why I majored in musical theater. Toured professionally, throughout six states... but when the contract ended, I got stuck back in my home town, in the Upper Peninsula. Went crazy not having a creative outlet, which is how the business idea for CWC was formed. Am a transplant to this area and have been so busy with the business, I'm still getting to know my surrounding areas. I look forward to meeting you...
