We're too spoiled by year around availability of produce in groceries and big box stores. Enjoy the delicious authentic taste of locally grown Michigan veggies esp sweet corn and tomatoes!

My favorites: The huge original old red barn setting makes this a special place to visit. Cool,…read moreshady, spacious and always friendly. An experience that kids of all ages will remember for a lifetime. 1) Corn on the cob starting in Mid to late July. All grown right on site. They let you shuck it right in the barn, so you can see it is all fresh and clean. It is picked daily and all is sold out by the end of the day. The fresh early small corn is a special treat you will never experience from any grocery store. 2) Apples in Early to mid-September. These are not grown on site anymore, but are all Michigan grown and brought in fresh by the pallet load. They have a dozen or so varieties and you can mix and match and hand select each apple right from the bin. 3) Tomatoes. These are grown on site starting in late July. Several varieties. Fresh picked daily. You can mix and match and hand select each right from the bin. In late FALL, you can buy in bulk for canning. You can even pick direct from the fields and get them in bulk at a super-great price. The Fall tomatoes are unbelievable in qty, quality and price! We put up dozens of jars of tomatoes and salsa all made fresh from these peppers and tomatoes to last all year. Better and healthier than anything you can buy anywhere at any price. Nothing beats vine ripened tomatoes and Michigan soil produces especially sweet vegies like nowhere else in the US. 4) Jacko lantern Pumpkins - I guarantee you will not find more impressive pumpkins anywhere in the world!!! You can hand select for one low price. All shapes and sizes, but these favor the larger- huge size. Their seeds are proprietary and have been thoughtfully developed and selected for decades to grow amazing sizes and shapes that you cannot duplicate anywhere in the world. If everybody ate mostly fresh whole foods from the farm, I believe 90% of health problems would vanish.

This spot underwent a glow up and a rebrand since the last time we were here and I love it!…read morePreviously you would do your shopping in the big building on the property (where I assume they do a lot of the processing and kept all their equipment, it felt kind of like a "facility" or warehouse of sorts) and it was pretty barebones. And it was fine! Better than fine because the blueberries were so good! I had no complaints. But now they've leveled up. Now it's not just good blueberries but good ambiance as well! They've converted another smaller building next to it as a storefront and it's chock full of blueberry based goodies like jams, jellies, baked goods, dips, mustards, beverages, etc. Way more to choose from! They also sell ice cream and added a play structure to help entertain the kiddos that get a little bored of picking (smart). The day of our visit it was around 100 degrees and humid so I was not up for picking myself. Instead I arrived ready to buy a box of pre-picked fruit in bulk like I had in the past. I walked into the cute new storefront, scanned the shelves, and panicked. There were no boxed berries to be seen! Was this no longer a thing?? U-pick only?? Why God why!? No need to panic, the really lovely woman at the counter explained to me. They just ran out because nobody wanted to pick in the heat (fair) and they had another load of blewbs (just processed and boxed) enroute and arriving at any moment, she just wasn't sure when exactly. Our time in town was limited so we decided we'd come back instead of waiting. She assured me there would be plenty available. And she was right! A couple of hours later we came back to find the coolers absolutely stocked full of 5lb boxes. I was fielding requests from the family back home to bring them some so in the end I bought 20 pounds worth. I also added a blueberry lemon coffee cake for good measure. Great visit! Wonderful changes! Lovely personnelle! And most importantly, the blueberries are still amazing. Next time I just hope it's cooler so I can get an ice cream cone that wasn't going to liquify the moment I stepped outside.
