This hit the spot. We were looking for something to start our day that was not too heavy. We stopped at Aggie May's and found our solution. It was easy to find, with plenty of parking. We were welcomed in and given time to decide on our selection. There was one person busily slicing fresh loaves of bread with their slicing machine. Fun to watch. We settled on the ham and swiss filled croissant. The pastry had that wonderful outer crunch with a tender interior. The ham and swiss went well. A great way to kick off our day. read more

Aggie Mae's is a hidden gem. Their pastries and sandwiches are incredible. Their fresh baked bread is arguably the best in the Lansing area. Great bakery and sandwich stop in Grand Ledge. Stopped in today to try the bread. Ordered a loaf of the seeded rye. They offer to slice it right in the shop. The displays of food looked really good, however when I got my food home, they had no flavor!!! I purchased 2 cupcakes (Carrot cake and peanut butter cup), 1 brownie, 1 cheescake (brownie bottom) and 1 cinnamon roll. The carrot cake cupcake did not taste like carrot cake. If I hadn't purchased it from the store myself, then I would not have known that it was supposed to be carrot cake. The frosting on the carrot cake cupcake was not cream cheese frosting. Carrot cake anything needs cream cheese frosting or else it does not get a thumbs up from me. The peanut butter cup cupcake went in the trash after a few bites. I hate to say it, but I think that I could make better desserts and that is not the thing that you want from a bakery that you purchase something from. (Or maybe I am sadly mistaken). I was very disappointed as my wife and I had a sweet tooth and wanted to try Aggie Maes Bakery as we had never been before. This was $20+ not wisely spent!!! I've had so many delicious items at Aggie Mae's, I don't know where to start! The bread is awesome ; I usually buy the wheat bread, when I can resist the other delicious varieties ! I have had breakfast here, and many lunches; love the soups and salads, coffee and pastries. I love sitting outside in the summer. They once donated a cake someone ordered, and didn't pick up or pay for, to a foster care event. I love that the business is owned by a woman and inspired by her mother , Aggie Mae. This is one of my sister's favorite spots on her town and I can tell why. I went here with my sister in law for lunch, and we ordered a couple of sandwiches. I got a Reuben. It came out so fast, the service was so surprisingly fast. The sandwich was very good, had everything a quintessential Reuben needs. My only complaint would be that it could have used a little more meat, the meat to cheese to sauerkraut ratio was a little off. We got cookies to go, stuffed from devouring our huge sammies. When I finally got around to eating mine over a day later, it was still moist and delicious and not at all stale. I want to go here again. And again. All their desserts look amazing, all their breads seem mouthwatering. I wish Aggie Mae's was closer to where I live! read more

Ok for starters service is wonderful!!! They are always very nice and the owner is usually there and very friendly! Secondly the FOOD!!!! It's so good and fresh! They use Boar's Head meet and there own special baked bread they have 13 sandwiches to choose from, the one in the picture is the Narvel Marvel and it was AMAZING!!! I went for lunch last week, got an Aggie (chicken salad sandwich) and I'm still thinking about how good it was. I don't like sourdough, but the seeded sourdough bread was perfect. Everything was so fresh and delicious. I also got a cupcake, because it was staring me in the face. It was beautiful and the frosting was memorably good. I'm so pumped to find this little gem! A coffee shop that doesn't push a gas station type machine to "make" me a latte is hard to come by on this side of Lansing, apparently. So, I was delighted to see that they had a press/ big fancy cappuccino machine (whatever the hell they're called). I'm currently sipping their ever popular "Grand Special." It's literally the best cuppa' joe I've had since moving to Michigan. No lie. The girl that greeted me upon entering is the cutest little sweetheart! I told the owner (Yep, it's a local joint!) she is a walking commercial for this bakery. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a big fan of good customer service. (Honestly, I'm very picky and critical of people in a CS position) AND Let's face it, customer service can sometimes make or break a business. (I've just found out her name is Kaela. What a sweetie!) Ok, I'll speed this thing up...I tend to ramble when I love a place! I ended up getting a freshly made loaf of Italian Sourdough to compliment the potato leak soup I'm making for dinner. Then, Kaela, being the bakery's biggest fan that she is, insisted that the Onion Rye bread is her fave. Which at this point she is my bestie, so I had to take her word for it! I haven't tried the breads yet, WHICH they sliced up for me right there!! However, if it tastes anything like it smells, I might end up being on the business end of a restraining order from ole' Aggie. (Because I'll be here all the time, get it? *rim shot) Kaela talked me into trying a Ham & Swiss Croissant. Bread is never good reheated. So, it was dried on the bottom and middle from being mic.'d at 4pm, but I know my croissants and I can tell that they know what they're doing. Flaky, light, and buttery. They use good quality meats and cheeses as well, so that was nice. Next time I will try a crustless quiche or cream cheese Danish (oh bully!) I'll let you know how the bread turns out. I have a feeling I will be coming here a lot to pair breads and desserts alike with my own gourmet dinners. OH! And they do fresh baguettes on Fridays and Saturdays. I bought what appeared to be an overpriced chocolate cupcake, but found out later that half of it was filled with cheap gummy candy. Without the candy it would have been average but the candy made half of it inedible. Later in the week I picked up a pizza next door so I stopped in and mentioned that their cupcakes were filled with tasteless gummy candy and were not what they appeared to be. I thought perhaps they would offer a replacement or my money back but they seemed totally unconcerned, so I didn't ask for anything. I guess they have to keep their costs down somehow. A typical small town bakery. The show cases are very fun to look at. And their menus are colorful and eye catching. Their liners for the cupcakes are unique and elegant looking. I got their breakfast, a cupcake for a friend and a cookie. My breakfast was very good. A bit over priced but I understand since it's a local business. I felt like this was a cute little shop and happy I stopped by. My friend loved her cup cake. She said it was most and not too sweet like some places are. I threw away my chocolate chip cookie though because it was so hard and it smelled like it was old like it was in a closet for a long time. I plan to come back to try their lunch items because I hear they're delicious as well as their breakfast but I am not getting their cookies again. Lol read more
