Located just off the interstate near Lowell, Heidi's Farmstand and Bakery is a quaint and homey local store. I love fresh apple cider, and Heidi's carries plenty of it and lots of other seasonal goods. I'll definitely be coming back to try some of their baked goods. I highly recommend stopping in next time you drive by, especially in the Fall!

When you decide to go out to either a lake house or cottage on the river, you better not plan on going to the big grocery stores. After checking things out, we visited Heidi's Farm stand and Bakery. I had already and my coffee and once I walked in, I knew exactly where I needed to go, the bakery counter. What a great idea. There were so many choices and once I finally decided, I decided on a raspberry filled danish. I loved it. It was so difficult to decide what I should have so the next day I needed to revisit the counter and ended up getting a number of things. Every thing was delicious and worth every calorie I inhaled. I wasn't fully impressed with the farm products but wasn't really there for that. If you are up the area, I strongly suggest you stop in for some delicious bakery goods. The amount of great jelly and jams were worth the visit. I had another hard time deciding on which one I was taking home but again settled on raspberry jam. It was so good on English muffins.

A bakery and fresh produce place with good coffee.

Just off the the Gerald R. Ford 196, Lowell Exit, is this wonderful farmer's market and bakery. We always stop when in the vicinity and pick up a balance of healthy tasty fresh fruits and vegetables and unhealthy but delicious sweet fresh baked goods and coffee. They have their own parking lot, the shop itself is a roomy barn building, service is quick yet friendly. Sometimes they have lovely flowers. Of course this is a very seasonal store, you can only get what's been freshly harvested.

I love being able to learn about local farmers, artisans, and experts in town. They offer several options to exchange funds and many of the vendors take multiple payment options. All of the vendors that I've met have been really kind and fair-priced if not sometimes cheaper than big stores. The social media accounts will often tell you what vendors will be at the market each day and I think that can be really helpful! There's free parking which is really nice but the market does get busy VERY quickly. I know the Saturday markets during the summer can be suuuper busy so I'd recommend going early or knowing you may need to walk.

I grabbed some baked goods and some handmade goods as well. The vendors do have bags but I recommend you bring your own. Some take cash, all take credit. There is some cover if there is rain. In the fall they have a lot of offerings on Saturdays and Sundays. You can take a hayride to pick your own pumpkin, and unlike some school field trips where my kids selected a pumpkin from ones "lain about" in a field, this was the real deal with vines attached and small to xxl to choose from. The hayride has stairs in the farm and the field, which is nice for older folks. They offer another one that goes through the woods, too. There was a corn maze that wasn't extraordinarily difficult, but was just right and fun to explore. There were some goats, a sheep, a turkey, and chickens to feed, and the kids loved a free covered hay pile play park with a tunnel and wood play structure. That got out some energy! I saw another tent where it looked like you could paint your pumpkin, but we didn't go in there. There was a cute photo spot with a bench, and I even picked up some homegrown produce that looked good and was really affordable. See pic for prices w activities. I thought this whole place was pretty affordable... At some of those farms the prices are crazy. Everyone who worked here was really nice and helpful, too! We came here after stopping for exceptional cider and donuts at Young's Orchard about 4 miles away, and it was a perfect fall family day!

Our…read morerelationship with them started by purchasing their veggies at the Farmer's Market every Thursday; eventually, I would make a beeline for their stand each visit. Wade was always really helpful and personable. One Thursday, we started talking about their CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program, and he showed me their full and half share boxes. I was immediately jealous of all those families receiving their plentiful boxes each week, and I basically begged myself into the program for a half share box starting in the middle of the summer. I was completely late, and they were full, but somehow, Wade's wife Shannon felt convinced by my plea that I needed their half share box, and they let us in. And I am so glad they did! From August through September it felt like Christmas every week. On Thursdays I would pick up my box, and it was packed full of all of the veggies I love to eat. (My husband said I was like a small child at Christmas on Thursdays when I would bring the box home and take everything out immediately and revel in what I would be cooking for the next few days). The difference between this farm and many other farms is that they focus on the staples: zucchini, squash, tomatoes (many varieties), cucumbers, melon, corn, cabbage, broccoli, beets, peppers, eggplant... towards the end of the season we also got brussel sprouts, garlic, potatoes, and some herbs. This was the perfect box for us because I did not want a lot of salad greens -- I am not a huge salad eater. And I've always been a bit wary of CSA boxes for fear of getting a giant box of arugula and romaine that will go bad in my fridge. But after a season with Pregitzer, I am completely hooked on the CSA program and on their box! The half share box is really affordable, in my opinion -- $220 for the season, which works out to roughly $13 a week. For fresh, local produce -- you can't beat that. And they extended out their CSA program from what it said on their website, and I thought that was a total bonus. Half share is the perfect amount for two people. Pregitzer also hosted a number of activity days on their farm on the weekends. I never got a chance to go, but hopefully will next year. They are also open for business on their farm on the weekends and sell their produce then. Additionally, they offer egg shares (a carton a week for the duration of the CSA) for $30 and they also offer whole chickens for sale in November and December to their CSA people. If you are interested in doing a CSA box, fall and early winter is the time to do the research, pick your farm and get on their wait list. Be sure to look on their websites and see what they grow, ask what kind of veggies you will get throughout the year, and be sure it meshes with the kind of food you like to eat. Ask one of their CSA'ers about their program too, if possible.

This was our first time here - but it will NOT be our last. I loved everything from the moment we set foot on the property. It is genuinely rustic, not artificially so. Everyone we encountered that works here was friendly and seemed to like their jobs! We didn't know before we got here but it is Blueberry Festival this weekend and there were blueberry themed drinks and food. They had free samples of blueberry soda, blueberry lemonade, blueberry jam and blueberry buckle and fresh blueberries! We tied all of it and it was all delicious! The lemonade was one of my favorites. We wandered the store for a bit and I think I'll end up taking one of everything I saw. I think I said "oh! I want that!" to AT LEAST 15 things. We had the 2 blueberry special drinks - blueberry lemonade mimosa and the blueberry frosé, we really enjoyed both. To eat we shared the BTB - which was another blueberry special. Brie, turkey and fresh blueberries on sourdough. I really liked it! I wish the blueberries had either been jam or some other sort of spread/compote instead of the whole blueberries. They kept rolling out of the sandwich haha. But the flavor combination was wonderful. The turkey and the sourdough were both grilled, which I made me real happy. Oh! The sandwich came with kettle chips that were the best kettle chips I've ever had - Which reminds me I was going to grab a bag to go and I totally forgot! We also had the Farmer's Daughter pizza which was awesome. Crispy crust on the bottom, but fluffy and light on top. Just the right amount of sauce and the toppings were great. We had the Oreo shake as well, also tasty! It melted quick! It was a pretty toasty day without much breeze. We ordered some donuts and a cinnamon roll to go, I'll have to review those later when we eat them - I'm too full right now! They have a pickle fest coming up next weekend and I want to go back! Everything about the farm was charming and we had a great time. Highly recommend!
