I think I can speak for all wedding vendors when I say the Cotillion is unmatched with their hospitality and service. I am a wedding planner/decorator and upon first entering the venue, I was greeted with so much respect and kindness from the manager, George. I usually like to keep things short and brief with venue staff because I never want to come off as a bother, but George was simply amazing. Usually if you're not a client / someone who is interested in holding an event, employees at venues will brush you off & treat you like a nuisance. Definitely not my experience here! There's a lot of stress planning a wedding but the team at the Cotillion, especially working with George, made the day effortless on mine behalf and I didn't have to worry about a thing when it came to the reception. He made sure that we had a timeline for the night and advise us when we should cut the cake to our first dance and all the important details so our photographer can get those important pictures without the servers in our pictures. The venue was absolutely beautiful from all of the decors to every details on the each tables. The team at the Cotillion was very accommodating and worked with our budget and even went out of their way to help our vendors set up and letting my husband and I practice our first dance in another room while they set up. I am so excited to write this review. While, I have not actually been here for a special event, quite yet, I have just booked my wedding reception here over the weekend. After visiting about 12 places, we found that the Cotillion was the most beautiful, easy-to-get-to, and have the best food. You get what you pay for, ladies and gents. And this place is proof. It was a little more than I was hoping to pay, but I just know my wedding will be gorgeous Thanksgiving weekend 2012. It's a luxurious facility with delicious food and an even better staff. Tom is one of the owners we have been working with and he has been nothing but helpful. He has an excellent attitude and is very honest. Being in sales, myself, I know a good sales person, and he is a no-pressure kinda guy---a lot like me, in that way. They arranged for us to have a pre-tasting before booking and even held the room we wanted for us without a deposit before-hand. We went in for a pre-tasting and in about my third bite, I was sold. Just waited there for my fiance to say something and he sure did. We booked our reception about 30 minutes later and were on our marry way. I made sure to scope out the place for handicap accessibility and their side entrance has a nice little overhang where my elders can get into and out of the facility easily. It's a beautiful place with chandeliers, a family owned atmosphere and great food. I can not wait to celebrate our wedding here and more importantly, I can not wait to get married! My Daughter had her wedding/reception at the Cotillion this past summer and I really have to say that the event was awesome. If you book here you will work with George who is quite the character, he will talk a lot about his reviews and how much he cares about your event. If you are like me you may ask yourself is this guy for real. The answer his yes - The day of your event George is making sure personally that everything goes well, he is extremely hard working with a focus on details. He is Extremely knowledgable and passionate about what needs to get done and how long it will take. Food - 9 out of 10 (vs. other wedding reception meals) - probably would have been a 10 if I had gotten the chicken Room Venue - 10 out of 10 - Don't be fooled by the exterior (which looks fine but does not compare to the room when decorated) The transformation that happens with the wedding setup and the reception setup is Incredible. They really delivered on the Wow factor Price - 10 out of 10 - You will be very hard pressed to find competitive pricing, given what you get from the Cotillion. Location - The only negative is how far the venue was from the Hotel (Marriott Renaissance) that our out of town guest/wedding party stayed, it was not that far but after the open bar reception it is nice to walk to your room. We were able to set up a shuttle for afterwards which worked out great. We just celebrated our parishes 60th anniversary at the Cotillion on June 25, 2023. Both Tom and George were amazing to work with! The food was delicious! Served Family Style. We had some last-minute changes of setting up some extra tables for the band, kid's table and extra guest table. They were so kind in taking care of all of it without a fuss. They helped make our event extra special and took some of the pressure off the last-minute changes. Plus, the venue is truly so pretty with the chandeliers and the bride room connected to the hall with a staircase going down to the event which they offered to us too. This place has great reviews, but maybe people are easily impressed. I had my shaadi and marriage ceremony here for about 400 people. I worked with George, who is a nice guy, with great reviews online. I was more easy going with the process and trusted him because he said he's done a lot of desi/ south Asian weddings and knew what he was doing. George assured me through the process that everything would run smoothly during my wedding and he had everything handled. That wasn't exactly the case, as many things were handled badly during the wedding. 1.) food setup: I had told George the order of events beforehand so he knew when the food should be set up. Once my speeches were done, we asked George about the food and he was scurrying across the room and stated it would be 10 more minutes. I'm not sure why the buffet wasn't already set up when we had gone through the plan beforehand. 2.) service: my family tables were served family style where the food was brought to them. This went smoothly, but my husband's cousin had to get food for us from the buffet and set it aside at the sweetheart table. I would assume the servers or George would make sure of that detail. When my husband and I were at the sweetheart table, we had no napkins and often had to ask our family members to get us things. It was very difficult to track down any waiters because they seemed more interested in clearing the plates. 3.) speaking of clearing the plates, the servers went around with these huge cafeteria style carts to put plates and glasses on while some of my guests were still there. They were an eyesore and I've never seen anything like that. At my other banquet, they just cleared the plates normally. Maybe they needed to hire more servers. 4.) I left my stuff in the bridal room which I assumed would be ok because it's the bridal room for the bride's stuff. However, as I was leaving, I was told the bridal room was locked which was just a wonderful thing to hear right as I'm supposed to walk out That just shows lack of coordination to me. My family had to track someone down to unlock it and my stuff delivered to me later on. Basically, most things about my wedding were good due to things other than the banquet hall or the people servicing it. The decor was beautiful because of the decorator, the food was good because of the caterer. We got what we paid for but the service wasn't anything exceptional. Just as a warning to brides,if you decide to go with this place, make sure you're more on top of the person managing your events. We just attended a friend's wedding at the Cotillion & I have to say that my husband and I were pretty underwhelmed. The facility is your standard banquet hall with two function rooms that we could tell. The event was held in the crown room. The prefuction space was clean and well maintained, as was the room. The ballroom had a neutral decor, which would make it easy to decorate for an event without worrying about colors clashing. The bathroom looked nice at first glance, but one of the toilets had backed up and there was a pool of water covering the back half of the stalls & the room smelled like a subway station. I did report this to the bartender in hopes that the matter would be fixed. I didn't follow up with it, since I didn't need to use the restroom for the remainder of the night. There was another event going on while we were there & the walls are so thin that you could hear the music from the other room in ours, which was a little annoying and distracting (I'm sure the other people thought the same thing about our music). The service and food left much to be desired. One of the people that we were sitting with asked for an extra chair & they brought her a high chair...fair enough since it was pretty loud in the ballroom. For dinner we had a mini strip steak (with gravy on it), chicken breast (with gravy on it), steamed veggies and seasoned potato wedges (2). My plate didn't come with potatos, just the chicken, steak and veggies...I don't eat steak, so I ended up eating my steamed veggies and giving the meat away to my husband who said that it was just alright. I noticed that the steaks at our table were cooked to varying degrees of doneness, some were medium, others were medium well, and one looked pretty darn rare (which the guest did not appreciate and therefore did not eat). The waiter took one of the guest's salads while she was still eating it & didn't clear mine at all. When the entrees came, the waiter just piled my salad plate and salad fork on top of my bread plate and bread knife and pushed it toward the middle of the table where my empty drink glasses were also sitting (I hope that these people aren't touting white glove service). The coffee was burned beyond drinking and the ice cream that was served was almost completely melted; there was about a walnut size ball of ice cream that was still recognizable. I agree with another poster, however, you DO get what you paid for. Recently attended a wedding reception here and it was top notch! The food was delicious and HOT! Most weddings you get that lukewarm bland-o food, but this stuff was seasoned and so good. We had soup and salad, a small fillet, breast of chicken, steamed veggies, potatoes, ice cream, cake and a WHOLE dessert buffet. I've been to many of these reception/banquet hall places and some are not so good. This place is in great shape physically and all the people who work here are very friendly. When I commented about how cold the bathroom was, an employee offered to check into it. My only complaint about this whole reception was the video guy who didn't come with the place. He used one of those spotlights when it came time to record. It was WAY too bright. I was waiting to here "put your hands over your head" or something like that when they cranked it on! read more

While this venue is perfect for a milestone celebration, it falls short of offering proper service to attending guests. My cousin went to the bar to get drinks for us and the bartender audaciously tapped the tip jar and refused to serve him until he showed bills to throw in there. Later, my uncle asked for another drink that comes served with maraschino cherries. Under health regulations, it is required that food be served with a glove or utensil, but the bartender took the freedom of grabbing them with his hands to serve. I went to the bar again at around 7:50. There were a few servers standing around outside the bar, but no one was in the bar. I waited, but no one seemed to be serving drinks. The bartender came out to grab his phone and went back into the kitchen. He didn't acknowledge my presence at all. The other servers clearly saw me standing there and didn't have the courtesy to inform me that the bar would open after dinner was served. One good thing from the entire night was the bread that was served at dinner! But that's it. Overall, I don't recommend booking this place for a party. Why put my family and friends through humiliation and disrespect? read more

We went here and had pasta for a banquet and it was literally noodles with what seemed like frozen vegetables on top with a bunch of garlic. Was served cold and the Chicken Rice soup had so much lemon in it that it tasted like it had expired because it was so sour. The salad was basic and nothing special. I will start by saying the banquet hall is Beautiful... That said, we worked with George since the beginning, he was extremely nice and more than willing to help. Everything went awesome, until a week before my wedding. He told me more than twice (with my whole family present) that i would be able to choose what ever cake i wanted, with any bread, any filling, so i did. The monday before the wedding, the bakery called telling me i had a bill for $600.00 because i had ordered extra stuff ( meaning 14 flowers) which was the decoration. I called George, and he pretty much forgot all about what he had promised. The bakery didnt even want to let me make any changes! They said since we were a week away, i had to pay that and had 24 hrs to do so. I have to mention the $600.00 were for a 130 ppl cake... I ended up getting an extremely simple cKe, and still paid about $100.00 Every time i would speak to george, he would assure me that my wedding would be perfect, that he would make sure everyone listened to my florist's orders, and that he would NEVER leave the room. Needles to say, it was all a big LIE!!! During the set up he was all gone, taking care of walk-ins... And showing the room to while my vendors were lost trying to figure out where to even get water for the flowers. :( . I saw him one time during our whole wedding, when he came to our table to ask how the food was. I was very disappointed! The waitresses serving the food were rude and had a few arguments over the food with my guest, of course George was no where to be found, so i had to personally fix the issues. I must say, If i could do it all over again, i would choose a more serious person to trust with such an important day. I have been to many weddings and baby showers at this venue and it never disappoints! The service is excellent and the food is absolutely delicious! The owners really know how to take good care of their customers and the guests. Tom was able to sew up my bridesmaids dress within minutes when the back got accidentally stepped on, This place will not disappoint! lining up for the bride and groom entrance....NOW THAT'S SERVICE!!! There is another person on here who Reviewed her variance and well, unpleasant experience. Well that is 1 out of our 285 guests, and you know what they say about Opinions, They are like A**holes, everyone has one and they all stink. I was the groom and i can honestly say, no matter where you go, you will never get 100% perfect service or satisfied guests, so Hope for the best but expect the worst!!! At the Cotillion Banquets in Palatine, we didn't get 100% everything we had hoped for, but Honestly we got 99% of it! Now my REVIEW of the Cotillion Banquets: on a scale of 1 - 5 (5 being perfect). Service - 4.5 Cleanliness- 5.0 Food - 4.5 Staff - 4.5 Restrooms - 5.0 (CLEAN!!!) Overall Appearance (both In and Outside) -5.0 The Food Was great! we had the Combination New York Steak and Athenian Chicken and I Strongly Urge You to try it, It is Wonderful!! My husband and I had our wedding reception in the Regal Room at The Cotillion this past October. I am posting this review 3 months later and we STILL have people telling us how amazing everything was!! We mainly worked with Tom although Dmitri set up our tasting for us. Both of them are fantastic to work with - So professional and you know from the moment you meet them that they know EXACTLY what they are doing and do it well. They answered all of our questions and it was a no brainer to go with The Cotillion for our reception. When we got to the room after the wedding - everything was set up and looked amazing! I was so pleased as was everyone that attended our wedding. The food is phenomenal - so fresh and delicious!! They definitely don't skimp on the sides here!! We had Chicken ala Florentine and Filet Mignon served - each and every one was cooked to perfection! People were raving about the food! Our families bonded over doing car bombs at family functions and we really wanted to have a mass car bomb shot at the wedding - My dad talked to Tom and got everything set up and it went off without a hitch! The bartenders had the shots ready to go right after dinner and it really set a party tone for the rest of the evening! I highly recommend The Cotillion for any event you want to host!! I really wanted to be able to give an amazing review after having our wedding at the Cotillion in April, but our experience with our consultant, and more particularly his night-and-day attitude before and after we booked, makes it difficult. I was between the Cotillion and another hall for our Friday wedding. The Cotillion ended up offering additional items gratis on top of their Friday discount amount to compete with the other hall that made them the obvious choice. In addition, every time I met with George (our consultant) prior to booking, he remembered details we had discussed & seemed to have an active interest in our event. I was delighted with our decision - besides the competitive and value-added package we were getting, the site is elegant and gorgeous, with ample spots for photos - as we were holding our ceremony at the hall, this, as well as a bridal suite, were important to us. After booking, George mentally disappeared. I received no reminders to pay our remaining deposits, & no communication about planning for the tasting or rehearsal. I initiated and followed up on all communication, & that made me feel like I wasn't valued - being that this was my first time planning a large event, it added doubts & frustration to my planning process that I had hoped would have been taken away by my venue. Every time I met or spoke with George in the three months preceding my wedding, it felt like it was my first conversation with him. I understand that I am not a special snowflake, & there are hundreds of weddings every year for a consultant to attend to & try to keep straight, but I would expect our consultant to behave as any other professional in a busy field - to keep notes, & read through them before meeting with a client so that you can speak intelligently to the client's needs. We did not have that experience, & I even had to bring our contract with to meetings as back-up for our rates & offers. Our tasting was delayed several times until less than 6 weeks prior to our event, so we didn't have the opportunity to offer meal choices to our guests; that wasn't a priority to us, but the fact that we received a call the weekend before to change the time & were left standing in the entranceway for over ten minutes without a greeting stung, & eventually we needed to call the office line to get someone to come show us where to go. We were also told we would receive a call that morning asking what dishes we wanted to sample. We received no call, & when we called about five hours prior to the tasting to give our selections, George told us he wasn't sure he would be able to provide all selections for us as it was late notice! The next two meetings were the same - I met to go over details about our menu and set-up, he came in blank. The first time, he needed to reference our contract to see what he agreed to, & when discussing the centerpieces he had agreed we had free at our disposal, he very obviously referenced the contract of the other party booked on the same day as ours (we booked first) to see what he had promised them before he committed to something with us. He also questioned the date we had agreed to for the rehearsal dinner, & the set-up for the ceremony. The final meeting prior to the wedding was at our rehearsal dinner. I was unaware that we would need to finalize the set-up & floor plan we had gone over the previous week, so when I arrived on time, because I had no communication from George that I needed to arrive early for details, the rest of our family and wedding party plus our officiant, were left to stand around for over 20 minutes while I dealt with George. This time, he expressed surprise that we required a table for a unity candle, when very clearly on his diagram in in hand writing it said "6 foot unity table." On the day of our wedding, everything was waiting in our room for us to set up, which was expected. Except, George had asked where our cake-toppers were so that he could get them on the cake, & did nothing about it - so one of my bridesmaids had to notice there were no cake toppers, locate them (inside the card box, which got her funny looks going into it), and get them on the cake. I also found out later that they had set-up one table more than we had agreed upon for guests, which caused us to be a bottle and a centerpiece short on our table decorations, but my bridal party again made do. The door to the toilet in the bridal suite wouldn't stay closed, & they brought roses into the bridal suite when I had been specific about an allergy to them. The uplighting I had been assured of was inadequate & improperly placed. Nothing huge, but not ideal. The food was delicious, with our family raving about the soup and the bread, and the staff was amazing, but our consultant made me have a lot of regrets and stress that were completely unnecessary. Where do I even begin??? George, Tom and the rest of the team at The Cotillion made my wedding dreams come true. From the minute I puled into the parking lot for my tour I was in love. The venue is a timeless, classic and gorgeous building inside and out. Their customer service skills are unbelievable. I never once had to stress about anything regarding The Cotillion during my wedding planning. George was so helpful from the beginning and is a master at what he does. The room was absolutely STUNNING, beyond my imagination of what it could look like. Every single detail was perfect. The service staff was incredible and so attentive . The food was unbelievable and timed to perfection. Just simply delicious. All of my guests raved about the food. The bar staff was so amazing, and fast as well! There was never a line at the bar. The Cotillion was the perfect place to have our wedding. We had our wedding last September at the Cotillion and I can say that everything went well from start to finish. We looked at several other venues and there was no better combination of atmosphere, ammenities and value as the Cotillion. When we met Dimitri we knew we were in good hands based on his knowledge of the wedding experience and many good suggestions. The reception was beautiful and came off without a hitch. My husband and I went on our first official "date" here and 3 years later ended up saying "I do" in the same room. I wouldn't have been able to pick a better place to marry the man of my dreams. EVERYTHING there is perfect! I worked with Gorge and he was awesome! Every little thing that he asked for he jumped right on and did. There were times when he went there to talk to him about the upcoming event and my 6 year old daughter would ask for crazy stuff out of nowhere (you know kids there always want something that you don't have!) I didn't think places like this still were around and not run out of business for old tired ways. Just attended an event. Staff did there job but were unfriendly and unhelpful. They poured pop into old plastic pitchers hours before the event so it was all stale and flat. This is so bizarre to me I can find no logical explanation or acceptable excuse. I strive to make the perfect chocolate chip cookie. I've tried for years. I practice often and get opinions from a variety of people. And although my cookies are pretty awesome, sometimes I make a slight mistake and it skews at least one pan of them. This kinda describes how I feel about The Cotillion. My sister and now brother-in-law decided to hold their wedding reception at The Cotillion Banquets. I was part of 95% of the wedding planning and participated in every aspect when it came to The Cotillion. First off, I think Tom is the bee's knees. He was fabulous from the very first meeting until he said good night to us on the evening of their wedding. There was a vision. A vision for a perfect day. But nothing can ever be perfect, so about two weeks before the wedding, I started telling my sister what I really thought to be true. Your day with Steve will be perfect for the two of you. No matter what happens, it will be the perfect start of your life together. And even if something goes wrong, it's okay because no one will probably know except you and me. I meant it. It was the perfect day for them. And it was a great day for me too because I came away with a new brother and a whole extended family that I now have the honor of getting to know. So let me give you planners/sisters/matron of honors out there a few pointers. First, ask questions. The owners, Tom and Dmitri, will answer you. They will give you straight up, non b.s. answers. Don't presume to know how things work because you've been to 30 weddings in your lifetime, blah, blah, blah. That would be your mistake. I asked a ton of questions and was so glad that I did. But there were things I took for granted and didn't ask about or check on ahead of time. Next, you deserve to enjoy the day too. So eat the appetizers (I didn't because I got too busy with the details), enjoy your dinner (I inhaled my food because I was still anxious about things) and arrange a cut off time for your responsibilities (I did for a while and then went right back into planner mode). Finally, even if something goes awry don't let it bring you down. The Cotillion has generations of experience doing what they do and they do it well. I truly believe that things will be as close to perfect as they possibly can be if you choose The Cotillion for your special event. The food is not pre-made. Everything was served at the right temperature which is highly unusual for a banquet setting. The salad was not wilted. The ice cream still frozen. Perfect, perfect, perfect! The rooms are gorgeous!!!! The servers are attentive and more than willing to go out of their way for you. They have experience and a certain classiness about them. Again, perfect! I would trust Tom and Dmitri without a doubt and highly recommend their expertise. They were very fair and very, very patient. So back to my chocolate chip cookie comparison... A mistake was made with the tables on the day of the event. It was an accident, but the correction had to take place in the room once the guests were already there and could see the correction. The bride and groom didn't know until after that night, but I was so worked up and embarrassed because it looked like we didn't think about a few of our guests and the other vendors. Also, it was discovered 15 minutes before dinner so cocktail hour was already well underway in the same room. I was annoyed. Highly. There is no other way to put it. I was not pleasant to anyone in the front office when I realized that someone on their staff inadvertently swamped some numbers around. But, they swiftly did everything in their power to correct the mistake. Crisis averted (although it was a major stressor for me). Bottom line, it was an accident, I should have checked the room setup 100% before we opened it up for guests (I mean, I WAS an annoying, overbearing part of the entire process who knew every detail, so I own the fact that I didn't verify things) and most importantly the mistake was corrected. I think it was a good learning experience for all involved. I imagine that based on how Tom & Dmitri seem to handle everything else that they have already implemented a system to cross check things to avoid a hiccup like this ever again. Lastly, I didn't want to write the last paragraph. But, I write an honest review from my point of view and I had to mention it. Ultimately, everything really was top notch and above our expectations. I was the perfect day for Catherine & Steve. Just about as good as my chocolate chip cookies. ;-) read more

Just had my daughters' Sweet 16 birthday there yesterday. I do not know where to start because I'm in between happy and disappointment. I didn't want this to be long but I have so much to say... I worked with just Dimitri since we first toured and booked the place. It is hard to rate his service. At first meeting, he was very pleasant and warm. After signing of contract, communication became poor/absent or sporadic. Closer to the event date and after I repeated my calls to him, he became more communicative. I don't know if it was stress or his busy schedule but before/at our tasting, he seemed annoyed or impatient but then later after the tasting, he was more friendly. We meet again a few evenings before, he was friendly and supportive until he started discussing my party agenda/guests plan in front of my family & friends (but he apologized later for that). I felt like I was dealing w/ multiple personalities in one person but the day and hours before the event, he eased my worries and stress which I liked. Unfortunately, I disliked him again when he used my family/friends AGAIN to communicate w/me (after he had just apologized for similar behavior). He knew from the very start of our first meeting that the BEST way to communicate is WRITING or if I, the hostess, ask someone to interpret. It isn't appropriate for him to approach anyone in my family or friends to discuss my agenda. I had a really annoying brother-in-law who didn't know any sign language and thought the best way to commuicate was mouthing really wide like if I was dumb (and was practically spitting as he tries to talk loud). C'mon, Dimitri, seriously, you had to use him? After this, Dimitri finally began to communicate and WRITE to me. (Like I said, I'm dealing w/on-off personalities- one minute him being friendly, the next impatient, then so on). We shook hands at the end of night-- him with a wide smile and me with a "I'm just going to pretend all this was good" shake. Of course he would be smiling-- he took a big chunk of my salary. You see, at contract signing, he said I must have 150 people. I invited about 200 people and only half can attend. I informed Dimitri about a month before event date (I had already paid too much way ahead of time). At the tasting, he had said he wouldn't charge me for people who weren't coming & wouldn't charge full price (w/alcohol) for children who were coming if any. At the rehearsal, he admitted I overpaid but offers no refund. He remind me that I was supposed to have 150. Of course. I shouldn't have paid so much too far ahead of time being too confident that I would have 150 people. But my loss. I accepted it gracefully. It hurts my finances but I cannot do anything now. Just know that even if your number changed and if you have less than you expect and if you inform Cotillion far in advance before final count is due, they're not going to lower the cost just because you've received less RSVP's. They're keeping your money. Period. My husband thinks The Cotillion plays a dirty business. When we got home, he quietly said, "That place plays dirty business with you." Just what I thought. All the friendliness and smiles were all cover-up to the dollars signs behind their eyes. And now about everything else... *I like how Dimitri handled mishaps like chair covers. He came up with a solution and I was satisfied. He cooperatively change back to the number of seatings I paid for rather than the number of rsvp's I received in case I have any extra family and friends showing up at the last minute. *He set up the display wall for me to have slideshow shown but he kind of made a spectacle by insisting that I close slideshow (b/c of cords) after dinner. *I did not like how the cake vendor he used left out a topper and vines for the cake (when in the sample picture, the topper and vines came with it). I should have asked or Dimitri should have mention there is no topper. But the cake didn't turn out too bad either so fine, it's a nice cake. *Servers... WHOA. A-ok. I like the head server- she was very polite and nice about the change in schedule...but the rest of servers... especially the one for my table-- they'll zip up your plates before you can finish it and I barely had touched my desserts when they took those away. I asked about the desserts and the server was annoyed. He angrily replaced my desserts on table. WHOA. Okay, dude, so you've had a long nite but I paid thousands of dollars for this place just to see my money going down the drain w/ all the foods and desserts being thrown out without letting people eat or finish? By the way, he threw out my untouched cake again. *Temp: good. *Setting... the best. I love the room. I wish I had enough time to go AROUND the room and enjoy each table with everybody (there were empty seatings here and there). I love their chandeliers, I love the head table, I love the bride room (to allow my children to change), I love just about everything in terms of the banquet room. read more

So I just recently had my wedding at the Cotillion. I must say from the very start (about a year ago) to the end, the Cotillion staff has been nothing but stellar. They were happy to meet our every demand and did a fantastic job. The hall is just beautiful. We had sooo many compliments about the hall. In fact a friend of mine just booked his wedding there after my recommendation. My wife and the bridal party loved the bridal suite. The suite has a one way mirror, so you can see what is going on in the hall without being seen which is really fun. The food there is amazing especially for banquet hall standards. We had many compliments from our guests about the wait staff. The cake vendor they have in their wedding package had to of been of the best cakes I have ever tried (no joke...we had marble cake w/ hazelnut mousse). They make the whole cake from scratch and the gentleman who owns it takes great pride in what he does...again, many compliments from our guests about that. I dealt with both Tom and Dimitri. They have plenty of experience and they truly had the event flowing smoothly...Oh and not to mention, all this for an amazing price! I can't thank these guys enough for their help and services. My wedding was a few weeks ago and I am so happy that we had our wedding at the Cotillion. It was exactly what we had pictured! We compared 10 reception halls and decided to go with the Cotillion because we thought it was very elegant looking, especially with the chandeliers. When we met with Dimitri, the owner, he was patient in answering all of our questions and he assured us that he would take care of everything to make it exactly how we wanted our wedding reception to look like. And he did just that; our room looked amazing. In addition to that, the food was great. We booked before we had our tasting, which made us a little nervous, but we were very pleased with the food. I cannot say enough great things about Dimitri and the Cotillion Banquets staff! I had my wedding there Memorial Day weekend 2013, and am blown away at how much of a calming force Dimitri has during the planning process. He was very flexible with us the entire time we were planning for the wedding and did his best to work with us on our needs. I would highly recommend this venue over the others we looked at in Chicago. I originally wanted something downtown but quickly realized the price tag for the venues versus value didn't quite add up. Cotillion looks gorgeous, is reasonably priced, and is quick to get to-- all things we were looking for in our venue. The bathrooms are clean, the bridal suites are comfortable, and the layout requires very little added decor since it is already beautiful. Overall, thank you to Dimitri and his group for an outstanding wedding day!!! I'll try to post some wedding photos of the venue as I get them. Do yourself a favor and schedule an appointment with them-- piece of advice, try to meet with them during the week when they aren't busy setting up for a wedding. I assume the last rater had a negative experience since they went on a Sunday during the holiday weekend. read more

My husband and I just hosted our wedding there yesterday, and it was b-e-a-u-tiful !! We had the pleasure of working with both Tom and dimitri!! Both great!! Many of our friends and relatives are still calling us to say that it was "the most beautiful, the most perfect wedding" that they had ever attended, and our large families have seen many many a wedding over the years. The flowers, colors, candles, linens -- all of the appointments -- were beautiful. And the food was excellent. Many thanks to the Cotillion for making it possible for our guests to make choices -- orange roughy, filet, chicken marsala -- all of which received rave reviews. Dimitri and Tom were gentlemen; working with them was a pleasure. They were "get it done guys" who demonstrated great professionalism, graciousness, and generosity in every encounter, attentive to each detail and creative in fulfilling our vision. The serving staff was phenomenal, making every effort to make sure that all of our guests were taken care of and that they were fully enjoying themselves. My wife and I had our wedding reception at the Cotillion in June. It was absolutely amazing. The hall is beautiful, and George was able to throw in a few extras to help sweeten the deal. We got a lot for what we paid for the hall. George was great. I wanted to taste the prime rib, so he had me come in on a night he was serving it for another event. I thought I'd run in, grab a to go box, and leave. He actually sat me down in the kitchen, and him and owners gave me cocktails and a full meal, including soup, salad, desert, etc. The prime rib was unbelievable, and he sent me home with another one. The reception itself was great. I had a specific request to not have Jack Daniel's served at my wedding (I work for a competitor) and I heard from our guests that even when they asked for Jack, they were told no. Our guests still rave about the food to this day. I would absolutely recommend the Cotillion to anyone. However, not everything was perfect. We did have some issues along the way. When you meet George he will brag about his reviews on Yelp and Google, etc. When you first meet him, before you've signed any contracts, it makes sense. He wants you to see how good he is. But he never stopped. We had a signed contract for 14 or so months before the reception and every single time we saw him he wanted to show us more reviews. We said to him on more than one occasion "George, we already booked. We don't need to see more reviews!" We went back for a regular tasting because my wife wanted to try the fish and I wanted to try the other beefs to see if they were better than the prime rib (they were not, go with the prime rib). I assumed we'd get to try multiple soups, potatoes and veggies. How else would we know which to pick? He only gave us one soup and two types of veggies. And I think two types of potatoes. So we didn't have much to choose from. We decided on a beef and a fish option, and our guests were given a choice. George insisted each guest would have to have their own place card with their meal choice on it, instead of putting couples on one card with two meal choices. Neither my wife nor I wanted to ask our guests who was having what meal (if they had said 1 of each). Our wedding planner told us not to worry about it. So we put couples on one place card with two meal selections. It ended up not being an issue. Sounded like George wanted to make his life a little easier, at our expense. When we first talked to George, we told him I worked for a liquor company and asked if we could switch out brands in the bar. He said sure, as long as the pricing is the same or less. When we met with him to go over final details he gave us a hard time about switching out liquors. I asked him for a tequila and a vodka. He said no to the tequila because he would have to buy a case of 12 and didn't want extras. He tried saying no to the vodka for the same reason until I told him the vodka came 6 bottles in a case. But he didn't tell us this would be an issue when we asked. Finally, when we had our first look at the reception hall and our cake, we noticed a nicely decorated napkin next to our cake. It was to cover a big smudge. Our wedding planner later told us the smudge was done at the Cotillion, not by the bakery. It wasn't a big deal to either of us, and the napkin looked fine. But obviously something went wrong. We did have a few issues but they were all relatively minor in the grand scheme. The hall was great, and affordable, and George was a great deal of help. Wonderful wonderful !!! Thank you George and tom for an amazing wedding night for me and my husband!! The room was beautiful and exactly how I wanted it!!! They did everything I wanted and more!!! You have to book them for your wedding I'm serious everyone keeps taking about the food that it was the best they have had and the beautiful room!! The only downfall was that we didn't get any of our cake besides the top layer which we need to take home but we were so busy that we would have loved to take home cake.
