Skip the chain restaurant and come here! Every ingredient on my sub sandwich was fresh. The family is so sweet and gave cookies to my toddler.

I have visited 3 times and I really wanted to love this place. The owner and employees are very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the salads in the display and the cookies, however the Eggplant, Chicken Parm, Pizza and Panini were dried out and not flavorful. A complete disappointment.

The most low-key, underrated place in downtown Arlington Heights. It truly blew me away! I wanted to get a quick lunch since I was working at the library nearby. I wanted a fast casual place and somewhere I've never been before. I Yelped restaurants near me, and long and behold I was driving over to Fausto's. First off, this reminds me of a classic, humble Italian shop/deli. They have catering and dishes you can get by the pound, along with a menu of paninis, salads, pastas and pizzas that you can take to-go or eat there. I decided to dine in. I got the large Greek salad and a cup of their chicken rice soup. WOW. The soup was phenomenal, probably the best chicken and rice soup I've ever had. And the salad was huge, fresh, and vibrant! The employees here are so kind and helpful, as well. If you ever want a panini, sandwich, pasta, salad, dessert, or any Italian dish really, Fausto's is your place to go!

My first visit to Fausto's won't be my last! My friend and I stopped in for lunch on April 2. I ordered a grilled chicken panini and couldn't resist adding a side of pasta salad from the deli, which had lots of salads and entrees (squares of lasagna, stuffed mushrooms, etc.) to choose among. I got a small side dish, with half bow tie pasta salad and half pesto pasta. The sandwich was good, and I especially enjoyed the bow tie pasta salad. My friend also approved -- she tried a few small items from the deli as well as minestrone soup, which she enjoyed so much that she bought a quart to take home. The woman who took our orders was the owner, and she was very helpful and patient as we made our selections, and also checked on us as we are to make sure everything was ok. And it was! I'll definitely return to Fausto's, and next time I'll be sure to try a pastry from their dessert cases, which include cookies, tiramisu, cannolis and cream puffs.

Not very impressed with vodka pasta, bland & tasteless. Salad was good... overall it was "ok".

I revisited when I had a bad experience with house hippo not sure if they changed their chefs or recipe but it was a bad experience across several slices I purchased that day. Long story short I enjoyed the slices here quite a bit and even found their matcha cake tasting better than house hippo's the grade of matcha is higher quality as well. I would say the Kahlua, Tiramisu and the Matcha are among my favorite slices so far, they are glorious with a nice cup of tea and not so sweet that I regret eating a slice and can even consider going for a 2nd. Their crepe I would say is better than Hippo's also, but pastry house hippo had the best chocolate and unique cheese cake I have ever tried. This place does offer unique slices I can't find elsewhere in their own right and will find me as a repeat customer for those slices and the lack of crowds at mitsuwa is another bonus. Cons: When boxed wax paper for each individual cake is not present, which helps when taking the cake out of the box without having to grab the cake.

We recently diverged from our usuals and tried the sando with pork katsu. It had some shredded vegetable and ketchup-base sauce. I am indifferent to it but I am not opposed to trying the other savory items. We have gone on different days and times over the years. The shelves are almost always well-stocked. Sometimes we would have a brief wait for them to replenish the raisin bread loaves but it is the mister's favorite so it is worth it. The bakery staff are very friendly and quick so the lines are kept moving.

This has been my routine for decades, yet I just realized that I had never actually left a rating for it. What makes this bakery especially appealing is its soft, airy, and smooth bread and buns, which are handmade using ingredients sourced directly from Japan. My personal favorite is the red bean bun. While my sister loves their sandwiches and milk bread, which has an incredibly soft, fluffy, and moist texture. All of their bread and buns are made fresh daily. Many years ago, they even allowed their staff to take home any unsold sandwiches and bread at the end of the day! With increasing competition from newer Korean and Taiwanese bakeries, I hope Pastry House Hippo continues to stay competitive. As a self-serve bakery, it would be nice if the buns were individually wrapped, something many other bakeries already do, to help prevent contamination from careless customers. My most recent visit was on the second day of the new year, and I was happy to see the shop bustling with customers. I hope this little bakery continues to thrive for many years to come.

The new location is in a brand-new building, and their coffee selection has expanded as well. Their butter cookies are the best I've ever had, and it's difficult to leave without a box. Sometimes I even buy two boxes--one to eat on the way home and another to share with my wife when I get there. They have delicious, fresh donuts every day, and I especially love the donut holes they sell on Fridays. I also love that they carry Ideal Bakery's kolaczki and some of their other products. They offer fresh bread that they can slice for you when you order, or you can take it home unsliced. The staff is extremely friendly and patient while taking your order, and they never make you feel rushed, even when there's a line of customers. I ordered a cake and a dessert table from them for a party, and they did an amazing job. Salma was incredibly helpful throughout the process, offering recommendations and assisting us with our order. Stop going to the chain coffee joints and try a small place that needs us. I preordered a little leas than $100 worth of cakes, pies, and pastries so I grabbed some of the cookies to make it $100. The butter cookies are $33 a lb. Ouch! As soon as you take a bite they fall apart and crumble everywhere. The kids didn't like the taste and didn't eat any of them, a waste of $12. French silk pie was very thick and not very chocolaty. No one really cared for it, def would not get again. I looked back at receipt after I left and see a random charge for "open retail" for $3.12, no clue what that is. So was over charged for something I didn't get.
