Can't say enough about our 2 night stay here for a get away weekend. Yes, it's all done electronically through email for the most part. I was a little apprehensive but all communications were received without problem. You are asked to check in the day before and you will have to send in a picture of a valid ID. The morning of arrival you will be emailed instructions on how to use your room entry code and the lobby code for after hours. The hotel is on the third floor and the building also is shared by many condo owners as well as two outstanding restaurants on the first floor: The West Table (amazing!!!) and the Brewery LBK (great!). The West Table provides some shared and some unique food options at the brewery every night. There's also a vending machine (drinks only) and a nice ice machine on the 3rd floor where all the rooms are. Parking was not a factor. There was plenty of parking up and down Broadway so we didn't have to walk very far at all. Never felt unsafe. We were in room #303 the "Black & Gold" suite. All top notch, nice. We were sent a text by housekeeping our first morning to see if we needed anything which was a nice touch. Room was quiet, nice king bed & bedding. Nice wet bar & wine refrig. Maybe the only negative was that suites 301-304 face Broaddway, so there was a little road noise at times, nothing that woke me up. I called the Pioneer Pocket Hotel as a guest...a CUSTOMER...for my wife and I to get a room. I was renting a room for our personal trip to Lubbock for our spring break. Most hotel rooms were full around the city because of a Texas Tech game. I was calling this hotel as a last case resort. I read somewhere that the hotel was haunted on the fourth floor. My wife and I are paranormal investigators so it wouldn't bother us at all. When I called, I asked about the fourth floor being haunted OUT OF CURIOUSITY, and the lady said very gruffly, "People live on that floor. I will not give you a room on that floor." I thought...wait if people live on that floor than why would you say you WON'T give me a room vs....something like "it isn't availble". I just thought that was weird so I thought maybe she assumed I would be scared or something so I responded, "Hey, it's okay. My wife and I do paranormal investigating on the side so it wouldn't bother us". Whoa. Something in that sentence must've Ticked. Her. Off. She snapped back quickly with the following VERBATIM statement: "We will have NO part of that LADY. Don't ever f***ing call her AGAIN"! and....as you probably guessed....*click* I was APPAULED. I was just letting her know that we wouldn't be afraid so IF there were rooms on the fourth floor, great. If not, fantastic. She didn't need to be so needlessly rude. I WAS trying to surprise her about the overnight excursion to Lubbock, so when I returned to the office with tears in my eyes...she asked me what was wrong and I told her. Therefore, no surprise. Thanks, LADY for ruining our surprise and swearing at me. You are either 1. driving good customers away on purpose that you personally don't want there or 2. you are driving good customers away not realizing it. I will leave you with this: I actually get where she is coming from with wanting to weed certain types of guests out. Maybe the place really is "haunted" and if you have amateur "paranormal investigators" coming to your hotel messing up the energy and provoking activity....that would get really frustrating. However, she made assumptions. She treated a human being unkindly and was totally out of line. You don't talk to people like that. You don't swear at people for "no reason"...at least THEY would likely not understand. Lucky for her, my wife and I are professional "ghost hunters". Our team is 501-c-3 certified and we would NEVER randomly call a place with ZERO referrals or connections to the owner, declare that we are ghost hunters and ask to investigate OR bring equipment with us to do an investigation WITHOUT the owner's permission. I just thought it was really needlessly rude and it really hurt my feelings that she made assumptions, swore at me, then hung up the phone. read more

This hotel and its staff are horrible. The lady that answers the phone is the most rude, miserable, hateful lady I've spoken to in a long time. This hotel is known for being haunted but if you ask about it she gets mad and says we don't believe in that here. I hate it when you people call about this crap. We were told we could explore the hotel which is weird, I should be able to walk around and check the hotel out as long as I'm not in restricted areas. I should be able to ask questions and they should embrace there history using it to their advantage but instead they are running people off and treating people like crap. A few days later I told my mom about it. She was curious to how rude the lady was so my mom called her next to see if she was really that bad and to see for the second time if maybe this place was a place to stay. I my daughter recorded the call just incase and sure enough this lady was crazy rude again and even hung up on my mom. If you want to be treated decent not like shit and have a good time DO NOT STAY HERE. Dropped in for couple days - nice accommodations - great location - draft beer in lobby - however the smell in the lobby was intense - could be from beer making but not yeasty more acrid. The smell was on elevators but thankfully not in our room. Management top notch! Elegant - would do it again! read more

My fiancé booked this hotel for our wedding night thinking it would be a unique experience in Lubbock and up to par with the service of the West Table and The Brewery Lubbock. It was the worst part of my wedding day experience. He had a horrible time getting In touch with the concierge for check in. He was worried all day about his car being towed because of inadequate parking. We were not able to bring our bags in early so we ended up hauling in luggage at midnight in my dress on our wedding night. There was no special service in the room, like champagne, to celebrate our special occasion and charged almost $200 for the room that didn't even have a king bed. It was overall a horrible experience and I wished more than anything we spent our wedding night in our own home instead of this "hotel" because nothing about this place was a hotel experience and was anything but first class. read more

This was my first time in Lubbock and I could not be more thrilled that I decided to stay at this hotel. The space is so unique. The lobby is stunning, and the hotel is on the third floor. Check-in was seamless. They send you codes for the hotel and room the night before and communication was easy for any questions I had. The room itself was spotless and everything looked brand-new. So I stayed at the Pioneer Pocket Hotel pre-COVID during Christmas vacation of 2019. I was excited to stay at the Pioneer because growing up in Lubbock I had always wanted to see that specific building restored. Anyway, check in is done via email or phone call. There isn't an onsite concierge to check you in or bell hops to help with your bags. Parking as stated by others is slim so don't stay out too late. As for the interior, it's "updated" but done cheaply. If you stay in a room with the smaller shower stall, just know that it's a cheap prefab stall & the glass encasement isn't properly aligned so there will be water spilling out during your entire shower. The living room space is a nice feature but could really use a rug to tie it all together. Overall the room felt like it lacked some finishing touches and the color palette of the room makes it feel a bit "cold". My biggest complaint is the blinds in the bedroom. I'm not sure if they are meant to be blackout blinds but they are definitely not good at keeping out the light during the night. My room faced the parking lot of a neighboring business that had one of those bright blue overnight security lights. The whole night I tossed and turned trying to sleep because the room was so bright. I even got so desperate I tried to hang towels but there wasn't anywhere to anchor them. Additionally, even during the dead of winter the mattress slept really hot. I get cold really easily but I burned up on their mattress. So that was weird. Another minor complaint is that there was no option for room service at the time despite there being a restaurant located downstairs. I wouldn't call this a luxury hotel, just a step above your basic chain hotel. For the price, I won't stay again. For reference, I usually stay at the W or the Zaza in Dallas, the Proper in Austin and The Post Oak in Houston. This hotel could very well make some people happy but it's not my standard of luxury. read more

Great covid experience at this stylish spot. Saw only one human the whole time (an older gentleman who lives in the building; he was wearing a mask). Starbucks Keurig pods, nice toiletries, spotless interior, comfortable bed and delightfully soft linens. We would definitely stay here again the next time we are passing through Lubbock. read more

I absolutely adore this place! It is the only place I will stay at (if possible) whenever I come to Lubbock. I've been two or three times now and I just adore it!!! I'm actually headed there now, and it's odd to look so forward to staying in a hotel, but I really do look forward to it! read more
