11:30AM lunch hour. Not that busy. (12/16/2022)
    Jenni M.

OVERALL Cotton Patch Cafe is a decent chain for lunch. While I was there, I noticed that they had a limited bar, so perhaps it would be good for dinner, but I've always heard they are on the slow side and service tends to be hit or miss. RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4 | Service: 4 | Ambiance: 4 | Price: 4 PARKING Ample, free parking in their own private lot. LOCATION/AMBIANCE Located on Joe Harvey Boulevard somewhat close to the larger Walgreens in Hobbs, NM, this Southern-style comfort food restauranht. Inside was a lot different than I anticipated. It remeinded me of an old-fanishioned windmill: an abundance of wood and metals with simple decor. There were booths and tables spread out evenly amongst the high ceiling cafe. College football games on the flat screens... THE GRUB On 12/16/2022, I ordered the Cobb Salad with grilled chicken ($13.11). LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB Kids menus are available. Very affordable options. SERVICE A nie male employee was able to assist me with a takeout order almost as soon as I walked up. They took a whie, but I suppose the grill chicken needed grilling. MY FAVORITE PART... Very good lunch opion. NOT SO FAVORITE PART... The browning of my sliced avocado. TIP Place &/or pick up to-go orders towards the back near the restrooms.

    Tex Mex Salad

It's been over a year since we were here last but service has gone down. My wife got the tex mex salad and it did not come with the corn or fresh avocado and only a very small amount of chicken. She was very disappointed. I got the chipotle maple chicken, it was ok, I would not get it again. The fried okra was really good, loved that, the garlic mashed potatoes had very little flavor. I remember getting a basket of fresh rolls with butter last time. This time only 2 rolls. I would of paid a few dollars for a basket of them, they were really good. Receptionist, when you walk in seemed like a diss-interested young girl who didn't pay much attention or cared to be there. Waitress seemed nice but did not know much about the menu. Maybe another time will be different, or maybe a different cook. I would give another chance. But only one more.

No complaints here! Solid Meal, Well Cooked, Fast from Order to Table and Served Hot Started with a House-made Sangria and some Shrooms. Sangria is one of the best I've had. Kudos! Shrooms were hot but a little on the under-cooked side but awesome flavor and worth the try. Had the Chicken Fried Brisket and was surprised by the smoke flavor of the meat. Crunchy on the outside, Tender and well cooked on the inside. Sides were Southern Green Beans and garlic mashed. Fittin Meal to say the least. Overall, the staff were on their game so it was a hit! Definite return should I be back in Hobbs again! Thanx to all for a meal worthy of four stars!

Dirty dishes not picked up after my meal was finished. Left register behind-its an example of a lazy waitress.

Amazing food & service. My pork chops were perfectly grilled and Amber is an amazing server. She is a great example of a server that gives service with a smile and hustles the entire time she's on the floor. Your choice of music was great too! I will be back and encourage others to visit this establishment too! Great for family & causal dining-two thumbs up! PS: I went back tonight because my experience last night was just so good. But tonight's experience was night and day from last nights. First off my server was short with me and didn't hustle like Amber did the night before. One of my pet peeves is leaving dirty plates on the table, when I'm finished eating. I dropped their rating down to 3-Stars considering tonight's meal. My grilled fish was a little dried out in places, and the waitress cheated me out of a veggie. When I inquired about it she got really snippy about it! I cannot believe how different one day could be. Here's a photo of my table with the dirty dishes and Register she just left there.

    Disgusting bread

Waited for an hour or more just to get a table. When we got to the table it took 20 minutes just to get our drinks. Took about 30 minutes to get our appetizers and the complimentary bread. Overheard an elderly man sitting alone at a table next to us tell a different waitress that he had been waiting on his waitress to come back because he wanted dessert. She told him that his waitress left and that she would get his ticket for him. That is just pathetic and sad. We ordered the trio dip and when our waitress brought it out she said they were out of guacamole so she took it upon herself to substitute the guacamole with queso. We still haven't got our salads. Never even got the queso. One of our rolls looks like the picked it up with their hand and their finger poked a hole in it. This place is a joke. We have been here for 2 hours and still don't have our food.

RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4 | Service: 4 | Ambiance: 4 | Price: 2 PARKING The huge white building has parking all around it. LOCATION/AMBIANCE When you walk in there is a ranch-style home vibe. The old register was something I overheard the owner had found like 30 years prior in a shop in Roswell -- and it's still in good working condition! The ceilings are high. There were family photos adorning the walls and counters. The restroom needs a little work. It was difficult to get one of the sink handles to close properly - no wonder the water was running when I walked in... and the restrooms are a bit weird to get to as they are way far in the back. THE GRUB I had heard their onion rings were delicious, but I was only feeling a patty melt ($10) and a side of avocado ($2.50) and a jalapeno ($1). The patty melt was not hardly greasy at all, but lacked a bit of flavor. My waitress cut up my avocado and jalapeno like I was a child which made me laugh. It was a good lunch with my lemonade served in a large styrofoam takeout cup (which had to have been around $2.50 because my grand total was $17 and some change). Their drinks were not listed on the menu that I received. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB They do have a kid's menu currently (as of 9/19/2023) with chicken, chicken strips, steak fingers, or a taco with "avocado and nothing else!" (Their words, not mine.) SERVICE Service was okay. They took a while to get to me which I find to be absolutely reprehensible. I sat near the prep station and was passed by multiple employees so I'm not sure why even getting my drink order took so long. The employees, however, were on their phones and/or fratenizing with each other a bit too much for my liking. MY FAVORITE PART... The atmosphere. Aside from the year-round Christmas decor. NOT SO FAVORITE PART... The price. Pretty steep for such a no-frills lunch if you ask me. Probably won't be back for a long time for that reason. TIPS + Cash only. + They have a drive-thru window.

While my chicken fried steak was just a little bit overcooked and hard to slice into with the provided plastic knife, it was still Southern-style delicious with the cream gravy, mashed potatoes, a fresh roll, green beans with real bacon bits, and a huge brownie on the side with a bottled water ($15). The owner was such a friendly, generous person. She was outside her food truck - not trailer - during this lunchtime event talking to folks waiting in line. Her employees/helpers were very amicable too. I've always heard great things about this food truck, but never had the opportunity to visit it. So glad I did. MaMa E's was established in 2018. Their motto is "where you can taste love in the grub." That's for sure! Their setup was for a large group in downtown Hobbs, so many tickets were pre-sold, but their food truck was nice and clean inside and out - I snooped! Lol. I would definitely return to an event where MaMa E was catering. Thanks, ma'am!

The service was ok, not bad. The complimentary croissants were amazing and I ate far too many of them. I had to stop myself from taking some to go. They were fresh out of the oven and super soft but a tad bit flaky with delicious melted honey butter. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. I had the salmon plate and the salmon was very flavorful with a nice well seasoned crisp around it. The broccoli was steamed but still crispy, perfect. My house salad was also great. They had my fave kind of ranch dressing. Others had chicken alfredo, blackened fish, spasagna (a spaghetti/lasagna combo) and I believe one of the kiddos had buttered noodles as part of his kids plate. There were a few minor complaints about things I don't even remember but overall everyone seemed to enjoy their food. My dad raved about their fish, his go-to dish whenever he's at Cheddar's. Although my salmon was pretty perfect, I had slight plate envy of my Dad's fish. I also tried a bit of his green beans and they were really good. I'll definitely be getting those next time. A usual spot for the fam, I'm sure I'll be back and I look forward to returning.
