Small lot for a small restaurant! LOCATION/AMBIANCE This Ma Brown's is on the south side of the tracks on Grimes Street. This is a very old-fashioned restaurant. No thrills or frills. A bit rundown, but they use gloves & spray/wipe down the tables well. THE GRUB On their day off (parent teacher conferences on 2/2/2023), my two daughters wanted some burgers for lunch. I wasn't given a receipt, so I'm not exactly sure how everything was charged, but our total take out came to $28. The green chile cheeseburger was great. I desired more green chile, but nothing new there being New Mexican. Lol. Their patties are flavored nicely. Not too greasy. Everything is made to order. You build your burger or the way you want. Their crinkle fries are really good actually - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I opted for onion rings, which were OK. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUBThey offer a kids burger meal. SERVICE Don't come here in a rush! Their service has always been super slow, but is always very friendly. The guy who took our order slipped a bag of Skittles in our takeout order. Says they open at 11:30 but weren't open. There were a couple of cars there but they wouldn't open the doors or come to window or answer the phone. Was really looking for to trying them out. read more

I've been to this place a handful of times. The buildings a little run down but the burgers are as good as I've had! I usually get a double cheese and bacon burger with green chili. Can't beat it. If you come when they're busy, it tends to take a while, but it's always been hot and fresh when I get my order read more

Our family stopped at this place because of some good reviews, but we had a mixed experience. We ordered some burger combos with the green chile burgers, fries, onion rings, and mozzarella cheese sticks. The food was alright for "fast" food, although this wasn't at all fast. The burgers were greasy, and my motto is "If the grease ain't runny, the burger ain't yummy". However, the grease proved to be a little too much for us. If we'd gotten the food to go and ordered smaller portions, I'd probably have a better review. The restaurant was extremely run down and smelled like either old cooking oil or sewage gas --- not pleasant, but the nail in the coffin were the prices. For a family of 5 to eat (3 adults + 2 kids) we paid $46. The extreme grease left us feeling pretty bad afterwards and into the following day. If you can order your food to go and have an ironclad stomach, then this place might be worth trying, but at the price point they've established, they need to make serious upgrades to the facilities to get a better review from me. read more

Don't let the other reviews scare you. These burgers are worth the wait. I haven't had an old fashioned burger like that in a while. The service is good despite a bit of a wait. The quality of the meat is what really stood out. The patties were juicy and a good size. Onion rings were great too. If I'm ever back in Hobbs I'm definitely stopping again. read more

Were you lucky enough to grow up in a small town where the family gas station had the best burgers you ever tasted? That's Ma's. Nothing fancy, no crazy toppings just some of the best childhood memories burgers you have ever tasted. Great tater tots, dark brown and no grease....yum. Only downside is their ranch isn't very good but that is So easy not to care when everything else is just dang good. Oh, and they are about the nicest folk you could ever hope to meet. The other reviews are correct. This is NOT a FAST food restaurant, but a good food restaurant. We ordered green chili cheese burgers and we really enjoyed them. The server was friendly and took care of us. It took over 45 minutes to get the burgers out, however we did get there at a busy time on a Friday evening. So like others, 5 stars for the food, but need to ding them for the inefficient kitchen, which is a 4 star review. Go when you have plenty of time and are not starving, you will enjoy the burgers. read more

Hands down the BEST homemade burgers in town! There's some wait time, I honestly don't care I know my food is going to be fresh. Especially the green chile cheeseburger is one of the best. The owner is very nice and makes sure your taken care of. If you don't like to wait call in order ahead of time. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

Nasty, Nasty , and Nasty...very expensive for handcrafted burgers, used roma tomatoes and the white portion of the lettuce and the onions were obviously the remainder of the bulb...you should've just chopped them into smaller pieces...zucchini, fried mushrooms, fries are the run of the mill Sysco like brand...frozen and deep fried in the same oil everything else is...change your oil...trust me things might come out crispier and a bit more flavorful...but I doubt it...I guess folks around here aren't accustomed to a Quality burger from the likes of Jims, Tops, Tams, hell even Mickey Dees puts you to shame...btw a cheeseburger and fries with a drink $12...never again...even if you are the last standing burger joint in Lea County... read more

Went here based off of reviews called the order ahead of time they said 30 minutes. Showed up an had to wait an hour after that. Food wasn't worth the wait dry chicken strips and dry burgers. Onion rings were good . They did offer to give us almost half of our money back for our long wait but we didn't take it. We won't be back read more

Burger was hot and fresh and the tater tots were crispy and flavorful. The interior is small and only seats maybe 15 people so beware of that. Most people seemed to have call in orders that they picked up and took home. Girl at the counter was super friendly. I'll hafta go back and try more burgers! read more

These Burgers some of the best I've ever had. If you live in or around Hobbs, or are just passing through, do yourself a favor and try these burgers. I also highly recommend the fried zucchini. I ordered a burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, cheese, ketchup, mayonnaise, and avocado. It was cooked from scratch,and was excellent! Big burger, all the veggies at the peak of ripeness, not greasy, just great! The generous portion of fries were crunchy on the outside and pillowy soft in the inside. Highly recommended! read more
