We stayed here as a base to climb Mt St Helens. Owners were very friendly and even let us move over to a sight we liked better. We have a 43' fifth wheel and a bit tight but definitely manageable if you can drive your rig. read more

Cougar Rv Park & Campground - Mt Saint Helens Summit - RV Parks Near Me - Cougar, Washington

Stayed here for a long weekend and thought it was just ok. It's a handy location, right in Cougar, but it's not the most scenic campground. There are some trees, but also lots of gravel and dirt. There are a few bathrooms, but they smelled pretty rank and the stench wafted throughout the campground. There's wifi that comes and goes, and there's a basketball hoop for some entertainment. The sites each have a fit pit. My site was lacking a regular 120 v connection but we borrowed a cord. For more than $60 per night, I guess we just expected a bit nicer ambiance. read more

Overall, I was extremely disappointed with this place. We are tent campers and I made my reservation in May for this Labor Day weekend. When I got there to check in, the lady at the front told me we were in tent site #1, by the road. I asked if we could be away from the road, because of the noise and also because I reserved this months ago, and she said no. Then she went on to tell me that I chose this site. Anyone who knows me knows that I would never choose a tent site by a noisy road. Ugh. This tent site #1 is down the hill from the main campground, the farthest from the bathrooms and every single vehicle that drives in has to drive right by this tent site. Next the bathrooms. They were disgusting. I don't think they were ever cleaned at all during the weekend and the only thing I noticed was that someone emptied the garbage and put new toilet paper on the roll. The showers were just as nasty. Mold, leaking showerhead, stinky and uncleaned. By our last day there, the main garbage bin for the campground was overflowing with trash around it. We stayed here in 2021 and had a great experience in a cabin and I don't remember the bathrooms being this awful. But I will never camp here again. It's so unkept, I dreaded using the bathrooms, and the lady at the front desk was dismissive. There is a great campground down the road with a pool and a restaurant. That's where I'll go next time. read more

Too expensive, too close sites on grass. Minimal toilet facilities. Worst RV campground around.

We've been coming here for years (see my older review) and every year they make great improvements. They've been filling in sites with gravel, adding nice fire pits, new sturdy picnic tables. They have a couple cabins. They have the nicest portapotties I've ever seen - like there is a flushing toilet and sink in them/ they also have showers and normal bathrooms. They have a little store. You can buy ice and firewood and a few other things. As I was standing there writing this, Steve (one of the owners) just offered us some bbq - they supposedly cooked a whole pig and have too much food. We love this place and Stacy and Steve so much! read more

Cougar Rv Park & Campground - Lots of space on site 8. - RV Parks Near Me - Cougar, Washington

NEW OWNERS! I want to start out by saying that the customer service we received at the Cougar RV Park and Campground was outstanding. Stacey and her husband went above and beyond to accommodate our group this week. This amazing couple purchased the Cougar RV Park and Campground a few months ago and they are quickly turning it around from an extended stay park to a destination location! As of right now, not all of the spots are graveled, but they are working on getting that turned around. It can be a bit dirty, but you're camping so deal with it. They also want water and electricity at every site, even tent sites. After talking with Stacey and seeing how hard they were working over the 4 days we were there, I'm sure that by the time we come back in September it will be even better. We happened upon the park after another park was incredibly rude to us. We had just traveled 2 hours and thought we were going to have to go home. Distraught, we tried this place. Thinking that it was only an extended stay park, we thought we were SOL. Then... Stacey to the rescue! It only took them a few minutes to get us to a place where we could park our trailers (2 families) and our boat and be side by side. AND, it was HALF the price of the other park. That other park better beware. They aren't the only show in town anymore. I'm giving Cougar RV Park and Campground 4 stars because I want to amend my review in September when we see all the changes. I stayed here for 1 night in a full hookup spot this summer. The park manager/owner is so sweet and the grounds are lovely. There are quite a few permanent or semi permanent residents but it doesn't take away from anything. It's right on Lewis river road so there's a bit of traffic noise during the day but was quiet at night. In case anyone is wondering, there were no "racist" flags that I saw. But the people who live and stay here definitely display that they enjoy their American freedoms. I don't see a problem with that. Apparently this park can get pretty full for hunting season until November so plan ahead if wanting to stay longer term. I would definitely stay again! read more

After a bad experince with a nearby "resort" I came over and inquired if our group could stay here. Even though they were full and could not accommodate us they went way above and beyond checking all the nearby grounds for us to find one that would fit and even some suggestions of personal spots they recommend. Next time we will book here instead of the "resort". If thats how they treat non-paying guests I can only imagine how much better we will be treated. read more

This park just keeps getting better!! We have stayed in the cabins a handful of times, and with each visit we see more improvements! Additional hooks to hang items inside, better heaters for chilly evenings, lots of new gravel to help with drainage and puddles during heavy rains. There is now a very minimal charge for the showers (25 cents for 5 minutes) but definitely worth it for a steamy hot shower and clean facilities! The newest "barn" cabin offers additional space, extra comfy beds and a microwave. We love the direction Steve and Stacey are going with their dream and can't wait to go back and see the next improvements! read more

We stayed in one of their cabins for a night prior to hiking Mt. St. Helens. It was clean and quiet. The owners were very accommodating with time of arrival, we came in late. The price was affordable. The bathroom facilities were old but clean and maintained. The campground was clean. Our cabin had a nice little sitting area and campfire pit. I would definitely recommend this campground and stay again. read more

1. Make a reservation if you can and be sure you show up by eight or they won't let you in. 2. If you can't, show up early on Saturday morning and they usually have a spot available that you can park in and go adventure for the day. This campground has decent facilities, nice tent pads and a great view of the lake all the way through. It's also close to Ape Cave and reasonably priced. I was not thrilled with the fact that alcohol isn't allowed in the park and the campsites are so close together with little privacy. Got a family and want a family-friendly camping experience? By all means seek this place out. It's perfect. Want a cozy weekend with your sweetheart, a bottle of wine, a roaring fire and some privacy? Try somewhere else. read more

This was the worst campsite I have ever been too. First of all, my family and I drove 3 hours and when we arrived children were running around uncontrollably with no supervision. One child almost ran his bike into my car. Literally look like hillbilly junction, look nothing like what was presented in the photos. Our campsite was 500 feet away from the main road, the people camping next to us were no more than maybe 5 feet away. I would not recommend this place to no one. Great customer service. We arrived on the 4th of July and where welcomed with fireworks. The owner made sure everyone came out to watch. The campgrounds are very large, so plenty of room so that you are not on top of your neighbor. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely stay here. read more

Very good experience and also very close to Longmire and the National Park Inn. There is a small store at the Inn for emergency items (expensive). The campground is right across the street from the Nisqually river so at night you hear the river in the background. Weather is the key to a good stay...it must be clear or light clouds for great views. Bathrooms are very basic. 4 stars for the location. read more

We booked an RV site for 2 nights. When we arrived, we were surprised to find at least a half-dozen sites filled with either permanent or semi-permanent residents. Unfortunately, it looked like a permanent RV city with 'items' spread out around RVs - your view is basically other people's stuff (a lot of stuff - imagine older motorhomes/trailers covered in tarps with an explosion of 'stuff' spread all around them). There were approximately four available RV sites that we could see and three cabins. There is a bathroom in that it has a toilet that works and a sink with hot water and a hot air hand dryer. They have coin-op showers that are used primarily, it appears, by the more 'permanent' residents. The park is located close to the Yale Lake park and the Merrill Lake area offers great views and some easy hiking. The Lewis River Highway is your front yard and it's quite busy during the day. It is quiet at night with the occasional truck or car on the highway, but during the day it's a lot of motorcycles, quads, chainsaws, tractors, etc. If you like to camp around a lot of 2-cycle motors, cigarette smoke and gunshots from the woods - this is your place. The owners were pleasant and helpful. If you're expecting beautiful woodland surrounding your campsite, you'll certainly find trees and grass. The problem is it feels like a friend of yours let you park your rig in the lower pasture of a mobile home park. So, it wasn't a horrible experience, but not worth the $40 per night price tag. A few weeks ago we stayed at the lovely Lone Fir Rv Resort. Cougar RV Park is separated by a field and is atrocious. While there our campsite and one other were burglarized. We lost 4 coolers with food and drinks, coffee, liquor, utensils and miscellaneous other items. While waiting for the sheriff to arrive (he was attending to a boat emergency on the lake) we did some investigating. We followed the trail of discarded items to Cougar RV Park and were astounded to see the conditions of some of there permanent old trailers. It was a nightmare and we would not have furthered our investigation if we didn't have a man along (our men were fishing at the time). It was a meth camp and the 2 young men were high and living in a trashed tiny RV. We eventually got most of our belongings back as some were tossed in the briars and some were found at the trailer. I wish I could include pictures as it is hard to imagine the sight. read more

We just spent a long weekend at the park and had a wonderful time. The owners met us as we drove in and guided us to our site. We were placed in an out of the way area that was very quiet and afforded a lot of privacy. During the weekend we had a few neighbors in tents and what looked to be a long term resident. They were all very polite and quiet. This is a super pet friendly park. There were even dog waste bags available which was a good thing as we were down to grocery bags. It is easy to expect too much from RV parks with all the bells and whistles they offer these days. Good people, clean well managed facilities and quiet privacy are what we value most in a stay and all were excellent during our all to brief time in Cougar at this RV park. We will be back and I look forward to seeing what the new owners do with the place. read more

One of our best Travel Trailer camping experiences. We spent 2 nights at Cougar RV Park and had a wonderful time. It helps that the weather was perfect and that PacifiCorp has done an excellent job maintaining the boat ramp and facilities at Yale Lake and Swift Reservoir. Back at Cougar RV, the Camp host was just super. She was friendly, helpful and even let us check out late on Sunday at no extra charge (because the park was not going to be filled up on Sunday). The RV park is clean and not real large so we had a nice amount of privacy. Plenty of grassy lawn for the dogs to run around and do their business. As others have mentioned, there is no cellular service in this particular area, but picks up again as we traveled to and around Yale Lake so it wasn't like we were totally out of touch with the rest of the world for to long. read more
