I really like this place. They offer bowls of lattes (see my profile pic for what I'm talking about) and their food is spot on. I went to meet up with friends on a day off and we had a great time catching up. We all ordered lattes and breakfast. Someone ordered the breakfast sandwich and said it was really yummy. I ordered the scrambled breakfast plate with bacon and potatoes. The bacon was cooked perfectly, the potatoes were a little too salty for my liking, but it's all good! Another friend ordered a similar plate to kind, except her eggs were sunnyside-up. Could not ask for a better morning with great friends This is on 7th Avenue and in between to smaller shops. I wanted to like this place more than I did. The place is adorable, the decor is very cute and makes you want to stay and hang out. But the music was SO loud for a cafe. No one seemed to stay for very long and I really think the music just throws the whole place off. Not a very good playlist to begin with and it's annoying to have to listen to the table next to you try to talk over the music. The coffee was great. I really enjoyed my iced latte. The food was just good enough. I got the eggs Benedict, which at first I was a little annoyed they were on whole wheat toast instead of English muffins, but I actually preferred it! The béchamel sauce was a little under seasoned, but the salad was simple and yummy. My boyfriend got an croissant sandwich which he really liked. They were also a little lame at giving out checks. I saw another table pretty annoyed about having to ask for the check. We had to ask for ours too, never really got a follow up after we finished our food (any dessert, another drink, etc) Overall it was a little expensive for what you get, I'm sure there are some golden items on the menu, but I really just don't see myself coming back. read more

I had some time to kill before a dinner party in Park Slope and it was getting chilly outside so my girlfriend and I stopped by Couleur Café to get some coffee and a quick bite to munch on. The environment was very welcoming and classic with old furniture, wood tables and so on, but given a modern touch by modern art paintings hanging on the wall. It's a wide space with plenty of room to move around and seating was very comfortable. Many of their desserts and other tid-bits were sold out by the time we went in. It was fairly late, near 6pm but I was still surprised so little was "in stock". We wound up ordering coffee and a sandwich to split. The sandwich had ricotta, figs and a green salad on the side. The sandwich was delicious and the bread had the right balance of being crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Their coffee was good, not spectacular but it hit the spot. Service was very friendly and quick. There was even a kindly old gentleman by the door opening and closing it for people! Lots of charm, good food and a comfortable environment make for a place worth visiting. read more

I like this place, it's very cute, cozy and the service was great. Came here for breakfast just last week and we enjoyed our food. The place is small so come early and grab a table, seat yourself and someone will come by with a menu. We went on a weekday, so it wasn't crowded but I can only imagine the chaos on weekend brunch! Food: we got eggs benedict and crepes (Latin quarter, crepe w Nutella and banana), plain croissant and chai tea latte, and a French press coffee. Food was decent but really weak coffee. We've had better eggs benedict and crepes elsewhere but this place has a very intimate homely feel to it. Service was very nice, the waitress forgot our croissant and gave it to us on the house. I had both lunch and breakfast at Couleur Cafe during a recent visit to Park Slope. Breakfast won, hands down. I ordered Bacon Concotte -- a pair of sunny-side-up baked eggs atop carmelized onions, proscuitto, and gruyere cheese. Yum! I chose greens for my side. So often breakfast out means a heavy meal, but this was both light and satisfying. To accompany it, I chose the turmeric latte -- delicious and beautiful. If I lived in this neighborhood, I'd be having this breakfast a lot. My lunch, by contrast, was good but not especially interesting: a chicken sandwich with Swiss, tomato, avocado, and harissa mayo on baguette. It was the harissa mayo that swayed me to order it, but unfortunately, it didn't lend the sandwich the kick I was looking for. I almost didn't go back for breakfast, but I'm glad I did. read more

This is officially my favorite cafe for coffee and pastries. The space inside is small, but charming with brick-exposed walls, retro-French artwork, and a rustic blue bar. They also have a few table outdoors facing the street. The music playing inside made my day - it was a combination of Spanish, French, and Italian tunes, and it really made it feel like I was sitting in Europe (note to the owner - please share your playlist!). The Turmeric Latte was to die for - I don't think I will ever drink out of a regular/standard mug again because this was served in a small bowl and it was a game-changer! The chocolate almond croissant was fresh and incredibly flavorful without being overbearing. It had a soft, melt-in-your mouth filling and a crisp/flaky bite. I absolutely adore this place. It's got such a great vibe (although beware, the music can sometimes be a little loud -- but at least it's good music, right?) Funny enough, it's my favorite place to grab a cold brew (often to-go!) in the entire South Slope area. It's organic, consistently good flavor, always tastes fresh. As for food options, I'm obsessed with their croissant sandwiches (the bacon, swiss, and egg is my guilty pleasure), and they'll even add a scrambled egg to the other sandwiches if you're looking for something "breakfast-y". I also recently tried a few of their lunch specials -- a gorgeous kale salad with chickpeas, pomegranate, cucumber, roasted squash... it was divine. They also had a vegan potato leek soup that was perfect on a chilly Fall day! For a sweeter option, their chocolate almond croissant is divine. Please, go love yourself and get one. :) read more

After a trip to Paris, something awful happens to you--you become a snob about French food. After countless meals where my friends had to endure me saying things like, "Oh this croissant is just okay." I am surprised they were still open to dining at Couleur Cafe with me. The place is adorably quaint and casual. The kitchen is barely existent, but they still manage to dole out some light, French fare. We arrived for brunch, and the place was unexpectedly bustling. Albeit small, the place holds its own. The croissants are decent, and the egg dishes are pretty solid. I had the Mushroom and goat cheese crepe, which was good but would have been much better if the crepe was fresh (I noticed they were pre-made). Despite this, I would gladly make my way here for a quiet, casual french-themed brunch where I can safely get all of my Parisian snobbiness out of my system. read more

I love the smell of coffee and espresso filling the room. The interior paint of grey and large windows letting natural light peer in really brings out the French eatery. Most people sitting here were on their laptops. Note: there are no outlets, so arrive with your laptop or mobile devices pre-charged. My goal was to try the smoked salmon tartine. It was pretty decent. With tomato, avocado, mixed greens, and capers, it made my toast pop. It came out to $12.50 without tip and tax. I also purchased a regular coffee which was $2.50. I went here for a weekday breakfast when my mom was in town visiting (because it's not always easy to find a place that's open early for breakfast when it's not weekend brunch!) The menu has a lot of egg, crepe and croissant sandwich options. It was a serious debate between the crepes and the croissants, of which I love both, but the croissants looked so good I had to go that route! They had one egg sandwich which I wasn't loving on the menu, so I asked them to add an egg to the vegetable croissant sandwich to make it breakfasty (which they did with no prob)! Egg,avocado, roasted red peppers and mozz was the right way to go, and the croissant itself was so flakey and buttery and delicious that I'd come back and grab a pasty on my walk to work! read more

I'm a bit obsessed with this place. I come here about three times a week, sometimes more. Comfy seating and great people watching on 7th ave if you sit at the front tables by the window. Fairly consistent free wi-fi (though I think computer use isn't allowed during peak hours). The soy lattes that I order are always fantastic and very large. My favorite time to come is within two hours of closing when it has quieted down. The baristas are mostly friendly--my favorite is Kim (I hope she still works there because I haven't seen her lately). I frequently bring friends/family here for breakfast and I have yet to disappoint anyone. read more

I came in here for an iced coffee after getting caught in a rain storm while strolling through 7th avenue. The iced coffee is not so flavorful here. It's kind of bitter but then watery at the same time - weird combo. My husband had a chocolate croissant which he devoured before I could sneak a bite off and his hot coffee is good. I'm giving this place 4 stars because of the ambiance. It has these huge windows that let a lot of natural sunlight in. The entry door is also glass, letting in more natural light. It's currently raining outside and this is the perfect place to curl up with a book and a cup of tea or catch up with an old friend or just a simple and casual afternoon date spot. I'm really in love with the space and the set up and the waitress here is so nice! Even though I would not recommend the iced coffee (something I'd been craving and the reason for my initial walk) I am happy I ended up here and would come back again. read more

The decor is fantastic and the old rustic architecture is stunning. The hardy wood tables and old fashioned chairs are awesome. Now, to the food. Excellent. I had the salmon and cream cheese croissant, a coffee and than later a blush wine. Our server was pleasant, polite and checked on us regularly. They provide a fresh pitcher (glass bottle) of water so you can refresh as needed. I had a great time there and would love to come again, and again. Love Couleur Cafe. Great food, perfect atmosphere for meeting a friend over coffee, having a light breakfast or lunch, taking the kids for an afternoon snack... this place has hit the mark for a friendly, neighborhood place to frequent for a variety of reasons. HOWEVER, the one fly in the ointment is their WiFi. It NEVER works properly. I frequently look around as I'm trying to connect and see several other people with "A connection to the Internet could not be found" screens on their computers. The WiFi works sometimes and then drops the signal and other times just doesn't work at all. The staff are aware of the problem and will reboot the router when asked, but it doesn't usually help. I realize this gripe has nothing to do with the food or service, but the place has WiFi for people to use and is a great place to get some work done. Unfortunately, I have a Chromebook that doesnt work w/o a WiFi connection, so I can't come here any more when I have work to do. Hopefully they can get WiFi worked out and this place will get 5 stars from me. read more

A cozy and quaint little french nook for great coffee, food and pastries. Their coffee is absolutely amazing especially the robust flavor and the way my latte was blended perfectly. The service was impeccable, our server was more than attentive to check on us and was very kind to mention all of their offerings. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. I've been here countless times and I absolutely love it. It serves many purposes: serving coffee to-go, providing wifi for reading or working while you sip, offering delicious meals, and holding a liquor license. I've mostly come for brunch and a mimosa but they also have a wine bar vibe in the evening. The brunch meals are all fantastic - the prosciutto pesto crepe, the eggs benedict, the lorraine quiche and even the organic poulet salad are some of my absolute favorites. You'll never feel rushed here and you typically won't have to wait for a table but on the weekends it's busier so coming with a large group would be tough - it's a relatively small spot. I highly recommend checking it out. Great for a date or catching up with a friend. You won't feel awkward going here alone, either! read more

My daughter took me to Couleur Cafe' on my last visit to Brooklyn. We sat at an outside table. I ordered an espresso and a special: ham and cheese with Bechamel in puff pastry. The coffee was great, and the lunch just blew me away! So delicious! Warm, flaky pastry, wrapped around the delicious filling, perfectly presented with a little side salad. My daughter had a cauliflower soup and a mocha oat milk latte, both of which she praised. I ordered a chocolate croissant to take home with me and it was delicious the following day with my morning espresso. Great service, very clean, masks on the server. I would give this cafe' 10 stars if I could. Best French pastry this side of Paris! read more

This is such a lovely little café. My friends and I came here after a race in Prospect Park. We were seated quickly because we were there early, but even if you weren't, they offer an array of delicious drinks and pastries that you can buy while you wait. The surrounding area is cute as well, so you can walk around with a yummy latte in hand. Our waitress was personable, attentive, and patient. The specials on the menu were all organic and they sounded delicious! They had some winter drinks on the menu as well that I would like to try. I ended up ordering a simple oatmeal with fruit, but my friends ordered things like the crepes and the croque monseuir. They all gave raving reviews. Oh - and their homemade Bloody Mary mix is apparently to die for! A word of warning - my friends said the spicy mix really is spicy, so watch out if you are sensitive to spice and get it less spicy. I hope to return to this quaint little restaurant next time I'm in Brooklyn. read more

Criticism is where criticism's due. Arrived at 12:50 asking for a table for two, was told by one of the waiters that the wait was 15 minutes. 20 minutes later, a couple who just walked in was promptly seated by another waiter. I protested and he claimed he didn't see me, but thank God for witnesses, several others who were also waiting for their tables told him I had been there the whole time. He kept saying "give me a few more minutes" but by the look of it, the next table available would be at least another 20 minutes. My friend and I walked out at that point. What did I do wrong? Maybe I failed at making sure each and every server knew I was the next? Or maybe I should have hovered behind that couple who looked like they were onto their last sip of coffee? I am sure they deserved all the five stars by those who actually did dine there, and for the "service" I received, they deserve this one star just as much. read more

I come here mostly for their sweet ass honey chai latte, but I have also been here for coffee and food and everything is pretty solid. A perfect sandwich and a cuppa kinda cafe. They serve drinks in like big ol ceramic bowls and it kind of makes me uncomfortable because maybe I'm more OCD than I ever realized, but then again it makes me feel like I'm getting more bang for my buck so, well played Couleur Cafe. Usually a chill atmosphere with not too many bratty kids, a good mix of adults who are just trying to read a paper and well behaved kids for the most part. At night the place has a slightly more romantic vibe- not exactly fancy but sandwiches by candlelight kinda thing. Staff is always friendly but not up in your business, I can appreciate that as well. I'd been wanting to check this place out after walking by many times. Finally went for lunch on a day off with a friend. We both had iced chai lattes which were delicious, maybe even better than most (I drink a lot of chai lattes). We also both got salads. My friend had the goat cheese croquette salad that looked really good and she enjoyed every last bite. I had the salmon salad and was not so lucky. The menu said it came with a dijon vinaigrette. I'm an extreme mayo hater and unfortunately the dressing just tasted like mayo. I tried to pick around but found it inedible, and it was just one of those times I didn't feel like complaining or like I should have known better that a French bistro would put mayo in their dressing. The salmon also wasn't very good; for the price (like $17) I expected a grilled salmon filet but instead it was bits of salmon that honestly tasted canned or not very fresh. And there was barely any avocado. Obviously I didn't make the right choice. I'd still go back to give them another chance or just for delicious coffee/tea drinks. Came to this cute neighborhood cafe for brunch on a Sunday early afternoon, and there was no wait! Sometimes it seems like the brunch places start blending into each other and it gets harder to differentiate between a cozy cafe with amazing pancakes and a homey restaurant with awesome French toast. This place set itself apart from the rest with more original food options, American with French flair. Or probably more accurately, French that was a tiny bit Americanized for us non French, making it a bit different than the norm. They have sweet & savory crepes, croissant sandwiches, cocottes, quiches. The dishes were all really tasty and fresh. The bacon cocotte was baked eggs with bacon and onions, which was the perfect hangover food and their cheese quiche had a ton of flavor. And if you need any more proof of the cafe's Frenchness, the portions were the perfect size, not too big. This cafe is a great brunch choice with awesome food regardless what you're looking for, but especially if you're craving something beyond the standard options! read more
