You walk in and the place is super charming and cute. Unfortunately that is where it ends. The food is just ok, not good enough for the prices they charge. The lattes are terrible, they are served in a gigantic cup and it tastes like you are just drinking milk, you cannot taste the espresso at all. The service is strange and not good. We were asked like 3 times what we ordered, then two of the servers started arguing a little while one was asking what we ordered. One of my favorite places in Brooklyn. The dishes are SUPER fresh (favorite is the prosciutto crepe) and the drinks are delicious (esp. the bowls of coffee and the special cocktails). The kind baristas alone earn this place 5 stars! I love the big windows and the fact that they serve wine and mimosas :) The brunch menu is served until 4pm on the weekends and they ask that the patrons are considerate of computer usage. When I asked the barista if laptops are not allowed at this time (noon), she smiled and said, "oh it's okay, you can have your laptop." I thought that was very kind, but tried to be considerate and read a book instead. I also liked that when I ordered, she asked if I wanted to pay right away or preferred to pay later. I like that they seem to trust people and don't make them pay for coffee and whatever else you order during your stay 5 different times. I ordered the prosciutto crepe! It was delish!!! This is a pretty popular spot in Park Slope, and parties of 2 got spots much quicker than larger parties. Think: small parties, small portions, but reliably good French food and friendly staff. Prosciutto crepe was good and not heavy at all; in fact, it wasn't too filling. Off the specials menu: Tumeric latte tasted like soup to me, but I imagine it's much better with a shot of espresso. My husband and I stopped in this morning. I will admit that I am a picky eater, so there was very little by way of 'real food' that I wanted to eat here. The pastries all sounded fine, but I really just wanted a sandwich that didn't have Swiss cheese or Nutella or olives in the baguette. I ended up going with a croissant, which was fine but not amazing. Our waitress was either slow or just didn't care. My husband ordered a coffee and I ordered an iced tea. She asked if we wanted milk or cream and my husband replied that he'd like cream. "Both of you?" She asked. "Oh, I ordered *iced* tea," I said. She looked at me for a minute and then said, "Oh, yeah, some people like cream in their iced tea." WHAT THE WHAT? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I've ordered iced teas in restaurants forever and NO ONE has ever asked me if I wanted milk or cream in it. I poured myself a water and spilled a little on the table. When the waitress brought our drinks over, my husband asked her for a napkin. She proceeded to write something down on her pad. He showed her the little puddle and she just sort of floated away... brought the napkin over quite a while later. She also did not give my husband a spoon with his coffee and cream. We finished our food and sat around for about ten minutes before she came close enough for us to ask for a check. She said, "Oh, sure..." and floated away again. It was another five minutes to get the check. Cash only sucks, but whatever. The music is the only reason this place gets two stars. read more

It's really awkward to order a $8 egg sandwich and go home to find that there is no egg on it.....sucks. I came here and most of the tables were taken so I decided to order to go. The barista/cashier acknowledged me, said that she would get to me but her first priority was making all the lattes before getting to me. Dropped in for some ice coffee on a hot Sunday morning. This cafe had like 8 or 9 two person tables. The background music was pleasing to the ear and just loud enough to be slightly noticeable. A great ambiance to the cafe. For 45 cents, I upgraded my small to a large ice soy latte. The latte was just what I need to get through the hot day! Also noticed that people brought in their laptops and work in the cafe. Doesn't look like there were any restrictions on laptop use. read more

My girlfriend and I ate here for brunch today for the first time. The breakfast sandwich was phenomenal. The staff is sweet and not overbearing. The vibe is Parisian chic without being pretentious. I have lived in this neighborhood since before this café existed. I have been quite the fan of this place, actually. It's a nice meeting spot, to meet a friend or have a work meeting. The food is good, although way too expensive for what it is. I'm not a snob and don't have crazy high expectations. I liked this place. I went the other day to meet up with a client. We each had tea; I ordered at the counter when I came in. She ordered at the table. We sat and chatted drinking our tea for about an hour. We were checked on once by the owner. But really, it wasn't a big deal. We didn't need anything, we met for tea, that's it. We hardly received any "service" but really didn't need it so it was totally fine. Our meeting was over and we said our goodbyes and got up to pay at the counter, because the server was clearly busy with the other tables, as he was the only server there. Again, not a big deal. We weren't put off by the fact that we had to get up to pay. Here's where I'll mention that the total for our TWO CUPS OF TEA was over $8. For two cups of tea. Two tea bags. And hot water. Over eight dollars. I pulled out my card to pay for our tea, and the owner told me the minimum was $10. So then I pulled out my $3 I had and gave it to my potential client as she got out a bit more cash to pay for our teas. That was a little awkward, I think she paid with a $10 bill. She was given her change and we said thank you and left. And here is the reason for the one star. The owner literally followed us to the door and said something to the extent of "I'm sorry, was there something wrong with your service? Does the young man not deserve a tip?" in a VERY sarcastic and snarky tone. I apologized and said I didn't even realize we didn't tip him (and I had no money anyway), so my client then pulled out the $3 I gave her and gave it to him. He took it and basically rolled his eyes and shook his head at us and walked away. Like he couldn't believe that we had the gall to pay more than $8 for two teas at his café and didn't leave his server a tip (which would have been less than $2 anyway at 20%). I am honestly shocked and appalled at the owner's behavior in this scenario. There was barely any "service" to tip for. It's really a shame because I've dined here many times before (and always leave at least 20% for a tip...) and this has completely turned me off from this place. This has nothing to do with the server, he was a completely nice guy, and it was an accident that we left without leaving him $1 or 2 anyway. If it was the server that sucked, I would have returned as servers come and go. But in this case, the owner was extremely rude and acted like a jerk; and for that he lost a customer. read more

Great food, great prices, and solid service. The coziest place to sit down for a quick brunch or a coffee break. I come here almost every weekend for affordable brunch. Their coffee is great and their croissants taste just like they do in France (I was in Paris less than a year ago, and these croissants practically match up). I must add that I'm not a salad person whatsoever, but Couleur Cafe's mixed green salad with cranberries and cucumbers that comes on the side with their croissant sandwiches is truly delicious and it's impossible for me NOT to eat. I love what they have done with the space. There used to be a cafe here but it was very short lived. The previous tenant, a hookah bar, really had a horrible atmosphere with the interior space and "polluted" the neighborhood with their graffiti-like window display. The cafe now is chic and charming. The mismatched chairs and tables are lovely. Everything in the cafe just exudes casual, fun, and welcoming messages. The menu is relatively simple with a few sandwiches and salads. My sandwich with ricotta and honey was really good. I don't know if they source all of their bread and pastries but the baguettes used for the sandwiches were really good. The service people were all friendly and patient (given that we were unfamiliar with the menu). It wasn't immediately clear whether we were supposed to order at the counter or the table, but we just ordered at the counter and then sat down. It didn't take long at all to get our sandwiches considering they had to make it fresh and press it. I don't have a discerning taste in coffee but my latte tasted fine to me. Overall it's a lovely place to read the Sunday Times and have a casual and slow brunch/coffee. I have yet to try their pastries, but they look pretty good. This Brooklyn gem is one of the best restaurants I've been to in a while, that's including all of Manhattan. That place has a beautiful and memorable ambiance. But, the best part of this venue is the wholesome food made with the freshest ingredients and attentive staff. The food is without question made with love! The decor is fantastic and the old rustic architecture is stunning. The hardy wood tables and old fashioned chairs are awesome. Now, to the food. Excellent. I had the salmon and cream cheese croissant, a coffee and than later a blush wine. Our server was pleasant, polite and checked on us regularly. They provide a fresh pitcher (glass bottle) of water so you can refresh as needed. I had a great time there and would love to come again, and again. Now the last time I went which I will sadly say may be the last time is when I ordered their crepe. I used to like going to this cafe for a nice weekend breakfast. Just went there with my husband and we just couldn't be more annoyed and disappointed because of real bad service. If the the owner actually cares about her/his cafe and read these yelp reviews, I'd would love you to work on your service. We ordered two croissants with salmon, two coffees and an orange juice. First it took so long to get a menu and to order our food. They forgot our coffee and juice. When the server realized that he forgot our coffee he very bluntly said "coffee is on the way" without saying sorry or anything but still we didn't get the coffee until we were done with our food. So we canceled our coffee and orange juice. A few minutes later coffee was served by another server. I said "we canceled it because it didn't come until we finished our food" She again so coldly and bluntly said "okay". No apologies... I don't want to be served like a queen but it'd be nice if I could get treated with basic service manners as I'm paying for their food and service. Absolutely exceptional. I've been coming here for years for my daily morning black coffee. The taste & aroma are strong & delicious & worth every penny. The croissants have that je ne sais quoi light buttery flakiness & the first bite takes me to Rue de Rivoli. I attended a party held here, & the food was delicious. Fresh & high quality ingredients with creative flair. It was so great, we held our rehearsal dinner the night before our wedding. The 20 attendees ranged in age from seven to 85 & everyone loved it. The diverse menu catered to the kids, to the foodies, to the more senior folks who like a more traditional plate.
