During the first of these appointments I explained to the doctor that I have needed more numbing than usual in the past. I was ignored, I was able to feel every pain during the procedures performed on me that day. I expressed that I was in pain multiple times and was just told the drugs should kick in soon. The doctor and his assistant were cheerfully talking about a dinner they'd recently had with their respective partners while I, their patient cried in pain for three hours. This happened in 2022 and I did not return for the second visit. I have not been notified of any cavities needing fillings after visiting many other dentist, but I am still overcome with anxiety when I am at a dental office.

The staff are all friendly and as a whole, the entire clinic has an excellent work ethic. There is no time wasted when you visit and they work with you on pricing and interest free payment plans. My brother has now had his broken tooth extracted and fitted with a flipper until he heals and can have a new tooth installed. The surgery was quick, and for the most part painless. Mr. Cort, the hygienist, is always calm, nice, and sweet, and the rest of the staff has also been wonderful. Unfortunately, our most recent visit with the dentist was very disappointing. My special needs son, who is autistic, nearly cried because the dentist could not get him to open his mouth for an X-ray. Instead of showing patience and understanding, the dentist became loud and pushy, saying, "He wont open his mouth, I don't know why he wouldn't, he's done this many times." His tone was not discreet, and the interaction left my son feeling scared and uncomfortable. My son almost cried while he was sitting at the chair. Even though my son has managed dental visits before, this experience has now made him fearful of going at all. It was very disheartening to see such little compassion for children with special needs. After years of loyalty, we will now be looking for another dental office--one that treats all children with kindness, patience, and respect.

(note, I am extremely scared of dentists due to improper care in the past) NOTE: I paid $10.000 for the horrible service that I am trying to be brief about on here. $5.000 for my permanent retainers. He came up with a plan that my crowns needed to be replaced. I had permanent retainers placed by my Orthodontist years ago to keep my lower front teeth in place, and I paid $5,000 for those. He took it upon himself to remove my permanent retainers, told me that my teeth would not move, I am 57, of course, they will move. He half extracted one of my lower front teeth in the process, very painful. I cannot bite into anything; my lifestyle/food habits have changed due to the half extraction/cannot bite into any foods. I kept going back and forth throughout that time while he tried to come up with a plan for my 4 front teeth. He said for me to come into his office on 6/2/2025, which I did to discuss the bridge he said was the only plan he had that could fix what he messed up. We have been on the phone multiple times trying to come up with a solution for the mess he created with my 4 lower front teeth. On 6/2/2025, he dismissed me and said I was not his patient anymore, and said he was sorry for the mess he created. He had planned the dismissal and did not want me in his office anymore. Potential patients deserve to know the truth about this establishment: The revolving door of doctors is inexcusable. We began with Dr. Eshelman who disappeared without any notification whatsoever. Not a single staff member bothered to inform us he was on medical leave or that treatment would be transferred to another doctor. Even worse, we discovered through our own questioning that Dr. Costello, who supposedly "oversees" orthodontic treatment, is NOT even an orthodontist - a completely unacceptable omission when charging premium prices for specialized orthodontic care. The practice blatantly allows the orthodontic assistant, who is very nice but unqualified,  to perform procedures independently and make critical treatment decisions with minimal to no supervision, which violates Texas dental regulations. We had years of appointments with no doctor present at all, and when one finally appeared, they barely glanced at my child's mouth before declaring everything "looked good" and no further treatment action. Their pricing is also shameful. I was hit with an outrageous $500 bill for a basic teeth cleaning that involved no special procedures whatsoever - pure price gouging at its finest. After investing four years and thousands of dollars, the results are frankly subpar. My daughter's smile and teeth alignment are nowhere near the quality we paid top dollar to achieve. The orthodontic assistant - not a doctor - handled the entire braces removal and permanent retainer bonding process, another clear violation of proper standards. When I dared to question Dr. Costello about obvious alignment issues, she responded with stunning condescension, as if I had no right to expect quality results after spending thousands of dollars. Now they expect me to throw many thousands more to them for veneers on two teeth? Absolutely not. Their unprofessional conduct, deceptive practices, and mediocre results have cost my family enough time and money already. Stay away from Woodlands Family Dental unless you enjoy overpaying for substandard care from unqualified providers.
