I have had a fear of going to the Dentist for over 20 years. Recently, the fillings I received over 30 years ago started to come out. I had a terrible tooth infection. The pain was unbearable. I ended up in a mess of a situation. I went to a Dentist to get some help and relief. I ended up in a bigger mess, more pain and my fear of going to the Dentist was alive and in full force. I felt that I had no hope. Seriously. Three weeks later the swelling was back, pain level was at a 10, used all of my insurance plus BIG $$$$ . My pity party was at an all time high! I was referred to Stephens Gatewood & Associates Dentistry from a client of mine. She noticed my face swollen and asked if I was ok. I explained to her the events that had taken place and my fear. She reached in her purse and gave me a card. She assured me that I would be in great hands. I actually made the call right then. I spoke with Darla. She was very nice. She listened to me rant about my concerns and past experience. My pity party was being crashed! (Thank God!) I made the appointment and went in. I was looking for a reason to continue my party and talk myself out of getting the work done. I could not find anything. Sandra met me and took me back. I will tell you that she did something rare. After giving me a tour she sat me in the chair. She explained in detail how my appointment was going to be. Sandra was awesome! Dr. Gatewood came in after my x-rays and introduced himself to me. He did the exam and explained everything to me. He was talking with me instead of at me. I knew at that point I had found my Dentist. After meeting with him Val came in. She introduced herself and did exam. I could really tell that this was a passion for her and not just a job. Sandra stayed with me through the entire experience. I had my first procedure on Tuesday. I had root canal, a crown and a filling. I will say that it went great. I was back to work that same day. That night I had a voicemail from Dr. Gatewood. He was following up with my appointment. That was nice. Yesterday, I checked my mail and there was a hand written "Thank You" card. The customer service that I have received is amazing. I told my team I needed them to go to there just to take some tips! I am going back in 2 weeks to start the next phase to my new smile. I am excited! (that sounds crazy I know) I wanted to write a review because this is my real story. I have read reviews and thought "No Way!" I've been meaning to write this review for sometime now, but after yesterdays visit..I'm even more so compelled to do so. Front office staff is just awesome!! While I was in the lobby waiting to be called back I had the opportunity to see them in action. Kind , professional, you walk in the door and just warmly greeted and your never forgotten. There was a patient who was lets just say needed a little extra attention. They stopped what they were doing, listened to his odd stories, addressed him by name..This thought came to mind. If you work for my Dr. Jack you are the absolute best at what you do..Kudo's. Then theres my team..everyone there is on top of there game but Iv'e had the same team of Dr. Jack, Val since 1984. Val..my hygienist. There is none better, she's like visiting my sister..but if you can't take the truth about your oral hygiene, and who doesn't want to know the truth..then stay home. She has such a caring spirit, I absolutely adore her..Then theres my Dr. Jack..the one thing that comes to mind is when I first visited him in 1984, he was just starting out..Robin his wife WAS the office staff..I was just starting a new job with very little money, but needed dental care. i expressed my concern to him about my financial situation..to this day I still remember his exact words.."Partner lets get this done and we'll worry about how to pay for it later." What Dr does that..also to this day as always when a major procedure is done, you will get a call from someone in that office to see how your doing.Your comfort is paramount..I've sent a few friends to them as well as my mother, all come back with the same story.."there the best." lets not forget Brenda, whenever I have to get a shot she knows how I am she runs in there to hold my hand..yeah I'm a big baby when it comes to shots..which by the way you never feel..so if your looking for the ABSOLUTE best in dentistry, your search is over!!! read more

There are not enough words in my vocabulary to express the personal care and dedicated staff of this office. Amidst all the hustle and bustle of todays activities NO ONE from being on the phone or being in the office for a procedure makes one feel like they are busy and just want to get onto the next patient and next dollar. The quality of treatment is worth anything one might need to do in order to be seen by the one of the supreme Dentists or other care givers...they make a standard cleaning not standard. It has been about three years since I last posted. I am the biggest baby I think this dental clinic has ever seen. So once again I am back. I am 65 years old and in my life time I have had the displeasure of picking every horrible dental practice known.. Not one of them has been professional, caring or companionate. Their attitude as always been they know more than me and suck it up..you must feel the pain.. From the first time I walked into this dental firm (5 plus years ago) I felt welcomed. They did not make fun of me for being afraid. Darla you are wonderful, thank you for helping me in my moment of break down. Leann You were there for me in the beginning and were there again for me this time. Krystal..The Hygienist I met for the first time..You are so Awesome. This group cares! People listen..they care and they do not hurt you... Thank you to the receptionist, the first one I see...She greeted me like she knew me forever. After moving to Houston recently I was very concerned about finding a dentist I loved. I read reviews at Stephens Gatewood & Associates which were good so I decided to try it. From the moment I walked in the front receptionist was so kind so polite! She helped me find my insurance. I felt so welcomed! When I went to the back Courtney was my hygienist! She is absolutely amazing, friendly, kind, honest, fun! Thinking I would only be getting my regular cleaning I found out I needed something more which would cost me more then I had planned on. Instead of just telling me that Courtney provided me and showed me the knowledge on the reasons why using my X-rays. Keely (Sorry if spelt wrong) then came in the room and showed me my options and they even worked with me on payments! The doctor came & accessed me and agreed that it was in my best option to get the deep cleaning. He was great and friendly as well! We then scheduled my cleaning a couple days later. Everything was great & again Courtney just went beyond her "job". She made me feel very comfortable and answered all my questions, was patient. He values his patients' reviews of his and his staffs, which is evident in the way you are treated and taken care of when you become part of their dental family. He knows that you want the absolute best for you when it comes to your health. Ms. Sandra Ramirez, one of the dental technicians is very knowledgeable too with what she's doing. You can absolutely see the professionalism of every employees once you've entered to their clinic especially the front desk people. Dr. Gatewood with an assistance of Ms. Sandra are the people who extracted my wisdom teeth yesterday. That was my very first visit to their clinic and I had a very fantastic experience. This dental office is nothing less than a five star facility. I recently had a root canal and crown done by Dr. Pagano and it was the most comfortable experience, quite contrary to all the dental horror stories I've heard. I was there for a few hours and enjoyed every minute of it! I left with a perfectly undetectable crown that looks and feels amazing. Dr. Pagano made the crown in-office and worked diligently to get my"bite" just right. I have absolutely no discomfort. I had such a wonderful experience that on the drive home I scheduled an appointment for the following morning to take care of a filling. The staff is so upbeat and professional. They relieved every concern I mentioned and kept me informed every step of the way.The facility is beautiful and the environment is so warm and welcoming from the smiling faces to the fully-stocked snack bar, not to mention the free laughing gas. :) When it comes to your teeth this is a trustworthy investment.Thank you so much to Dr. Pagano, Liana, Darla, Keely, Sam, Cristal, Sandra and Val. I've been going to Stephens Gatewood for about seven years now. I honestly can't get over how amazing they are. Dr. Stephens is an incredible dentist. I have had several procedures - wisdom tooth pull, fillings, and a root canal - and they have all been done so perfectly. It is one thing for a healthcare professional to do a great job, but it's a totally different thing for you to know that they care deeply about your well being. Through all my procedures, I have never had any pain - before, during or after. I'm not a big fan of pain and I don't think anyone looks forward to going to the dentist, but Dr. Stephens puts me at ease and I always know my appointment is going to go without a hitch. I am so thankful that I have used Stephens Gatewood & Associates Dentistry for the past 10 years. Because I have a complicated auto immune disorder, I have visited this office many times. Although it is easy to get discouraged, I am also encouraged when I see Dr. Gatewood because of his compassion and care. I leave the office feeling encouraged knowing that the problem has been fixed! I feel the same way about all staff members in this office. From reception to check-out, each staff member is kind, welcoming, and very professional. Val is my hygienist and I can always count on her advice when problems arise. Most recently and frequently, Bridget has been the assistant working with me. I appreciate how current problems are addressed and the fact that she follows up on past concerns without prompting. Stephens & Gatewood is by far the HAPPIEST, most professional, caring and organized dental office we have ever had the pleasure of caring for our dental needs. Throw away any dental fears you may have had in the past! They just have a way about how they do some of their procedures that make having dental procedures easier, even fun. Me, my husband and my son have been going to this dentistry for 12 years now. We love the people from the front office, all the way back to the doctors and their assistants. My husband really likes Val, which is amazing because she does that deep cleaning on his teeth 3 or 4 times a year!! My husband sees Dr. Stephens and Dr. Gatewood, while my son sees Dr. Gatewood, and I have seen both Gatewood and Pagano. I will never forget when my FRONT TOOTH crown (that was 30 years old) fell out 2 days before my son's wedding!! I was in such a panic, and was so thankful they got me in immediately, I met Dr. Pagano, and he did some extensive work to make me look great for the wedding!! I am really a big baby when it comes to pain, but he took care of me and pain free !!! I refer everyone to get their dental work at this office and recommend them highly! As professional as it gets! No one has more fear of the dentist than I!!!!! 1950's and 60's experience with lasting memories. All of that has been erased by the care, comfort and exceptional talents of Dr. Gatewood and his team. I had a wide variety of needs from extractions to implants and crowns. I have two visits left (6 in all) and actually look forward to getting the exceptional care and restoration needed with near zero anxiety. Dr. Gatewood has exceptional skills and as gentle a technique as I have ever experienced. I am brining my entire family and champion his care to all of my friends. And lastly, Dr. Gatewood does NOT do un-necessary procedures. He does not pad the bill. Actually just the opposite. As always, Dr. Gatewood does a fantastic job. I was in this morning for a crown - it couldn't have gone better. He is very careful and considerate. He always tells you what he is doing and checks to make sure you are comfortable. Brigitte is an excellent assistant and makes the whole process very smooth. I have seen several of Dr. Gatewood's hygienists and they are all excellent. I saw Dana yesterday for a cleaning. She knows what she is doing. I always walk away knowing something better to do for my dental health. Darla, Keely and all the gals up front are so professional and pleasant. I have been with Dr. Stephens for over 26 years. He is an exceptional dentist as are Dr. Gatewood and Dr. Pagano. All three doctors are caring and make you feel like you are their only patient. Despite the new faces I have met over the years, everyone has always been very cordial and professional. I have an adult mentally delayed son who does not mind going for treatments at Stephens & Gatewood. Over the years he has had many surgeries and needles throughout his body. We were not sure what to expect when receiving numbing treatments at the dentist office. To our amazement, he tolerated all procedures well, thanks to the doctors and staff members who always make him feel so comfortable and confident. After moving to this area, I put off going to the dentist for years... but later was driving back and forth to old dentist near Beaumont. I finally decided to cut those cords and go locally. A Woodlands dentist I visited first basically told me, I can pull out all your teeth and give you dentures, WHAT?? I ran out of there as fast as I could. Then started looking for a dentist who would help me keep my teeth... at that point I was ready to start weeding them out one by one... then I found SG on google. I told them my issues, they checked me out, performed their miracles, and yesterday I went in for my 3 month cleaning and teeth are getting stronger and stronger every day thanks to ALL their help!! Able to get a consultation in a reasonable amount of time. Once examined it was decided to do root canal and crown. Able to schedule that procedure the next day. Very involved work. Dr.Stephens was very patient and competent. Love the ability to have crowns placed same day and no metal line with a pasty porcelain top. The pricing was right about were I thought it would be - actually only a few hundred more than the last crown I had. But the end result was well worth the increase. Everyone in the office is very welcoming. They explain what is going to happen, what is happening and what happened. Look forward to my next root canal or repair. Unfortunately I have several old fillings that have been repaired over the years, eventually replaced with ugly porcelain crowns. THE VERY BEST! I have been going to Dr. Stephens since I was in the 3rd grade! I am now 36 years old and the only reason I am leaving is because I am moving out of state. If I could fly back for dental appointments I totally would! I have had the best treatment with both Dr. Stephens and Dr. Gatewood, and have referred family members and friends and always will! My family members who had to go elsewhere have had horror stories and always wish they could return. Everyone is so friendly, and genuinely interested in you as a patient as well as who you are! When my wife was diagnosed with MS in 1995, you would have thought that their office had been diagnosed as well. WOOHOO! I love this office! I can say without a doubt, this is THE BEST dentist I have had in my 55 years. Yes they are that good. Their facilities are world class as is their technique, ability and staff. I have needed to have some major work done for some time and never felt comfortable enough with any of my recent dentists to proceed with this work. After several visits with SG&A, I have scheduled this work with Dr. Pagano and company. And while I am still a bit nervous, at the same time, I have a calming feeling about the upcoming work. I believe I am in very good hands. So much so, that my entire family goes to SG&A. I can't say enough good things about them.
