It involves the burger, bacon, cheese and BBQ sauce. As soon I picked it up the sauce started flowing out of the bun like the whole thing was fed diuretics. I had to put a napkin on my plate and wait for it to stop so it wouldn't wouldn't make my fries start skinny dipping involuntarily in BBQ. The burger itself looked like a patty from BK. The bacon to burger ratio was exactly the same. All I could taste was bacon. I couldn't tell if the BBQ was any good or not because I was having a bacon coronary. I'll return sometime though to try their breakfast. I hear tell it's tasty, and though I don't cotton to the high prices it's hard finding any quality food for good prices.

It located across from the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds on W. Lotus Street. They have a mixed menu of American and Thai dishes they offer. The Gypsy Highway's vibe is a cross between nostalgic late 70's, early 80's biker bar, live indoor/outdoor music venue, while being a full service restaurant and bar. They also have a small arcade in the back a few what look to be video poker or slot machines by the bar, 3 very large LED displays strategically placed around the bar and a massive projection screen TV on the indoor stage when nobody's playing. Sorry I didn't get to look outside at the wood fenced in area, where the wooden outdoor stage is. There is lots of seating and they even have dance nights, local bands perform regularly, and other events. Like when I went there was Trivia Night. This place has been a long time local scene in the West End of Davenport, IA for decades. Couple of the downsides about the atmosphere is the noise. It's Loud. For off hours and a Trivia Night, but not loud enough that you can't hear the person talking across a large round table ment for a party of 8-10 people. The amount of flashing lights in the place. If you have any issues with flashing lights you might not want to visit. There is not a single sight line place inside that does have some sort of constantly flashing light. Even lights that would have been of at any other venue or palace that host bands at their establishments wouldn't run strong stage color ambient lights on, especially those sitting behind a massive screen. Anyone sitting in the back and looking towards the stage (even though those seats not that many but unlucky) are in for a painful night out, if not there for a band. The food is 50/50 depending on what you get. Presentation wise I would give it 80 to 100%. I was with my family and got to try 4/5 dishes. They I had the Yellow Curry w/ Shrimp. I have to say it was really good. It was sweet and savory the Jasmine rice was delicious with it. My only complaint with the dish was it should have been served in served in a bowl of some kind and w/ some Naan bread to help clean the bowl at the end. Serving on a plate made the dish hard to eat. Next up Chicken Tinders and an order of Onion Rings. This should be avoided at all costs!! They look great, but have absolutely zero flavor and taste. That's hard to do when the batter is supposed to be Bear Batter. Same with the french fries. Next is a Cheese Burger w/ (+) Bacon and Onion Rings instead of the Fries. Well the burger was well made and delicious. The Bacon was thick crisp and 4 slices which was good. The replaced Onion Rings well that part gets worse. The count was a measly 5 and not even large ones at that! Last one I got to try was the blackens grilled fish. It was a fillet of haddock covered with some sort of white gravy served with a few pieces of zucchini and a couple of red potatoes halved. I didn't get to try the veg. The fish I did. By itself it was pretty good, but with the gravy it was not noticeably, not as good to almost being tasteless. The gravy overwhelms the fish and doesn't complement, nor enhance the flavor. The waitress we had was nice and answered our questions promptly. She did check in with us from time to time. Overall she gets a 9/10. Hope y'all like my review and read next time. The three of us were greeted promptly and had about a 5 minute wait. The place is cute as the dickens - very charming. The wait staff was fantastic and friendly even though they were hustling. Now, the best part...the food!!! We tried the meatloaf sandwich, Cobb salad, and a plowman sandwich with a side salad. The food was fresh and the portions were large but not impossible. My Cobb salad had the perfect balance of mixed greens with all of the good stuff - chicken, blue cheese,... I usually end up with a pile of leftover lettuce after I pick out the best bits lol. We saw another table order a piece of chocolate cake so we got one to go. We enjoyed it later and it was divinely chocolately without being too sweet. I even liked the frosting which I usually remove because it's too sweet! I will definitely be returning next time I'm in DeWitt!!! Thanks for a great lunch! Wish I had snapped some pictures!

Most was barely warm except chicken was hot if taken from the middle. No French Toast available maybe kids should have asked for few pieces. Possibly using smaller aluminum serving containers would keep things warm. Homemade cinnamon rolls or brownies would have been nice for a dessert rather than just store bought pastries and donuts. We did like the fresh fruit and yogurt for parfait. It will be nice to try the regular menu during the week when we travel by next week.

They had a Rueben sandwich on the menu and a turkey sandwich on the menu. I asked if I could have the Reuben but with turkey instead of corned beef (it's called a Rachel and is my favorite). The waitress said that she would ask the cook. She came back and said that the cook said, "No." I asked whether they had the turkey - they did. WTF? 2 tables and $20 for a sandwich and they won't make that easy substition. It is a beautiful site and I do not mind paying money for a good meal, but I am NOT coming back. Whatever happened to caring about the customer? We also had to wait close to 40 minutes for our sandwiches to come. And a good 20 minutes for an appetizer of cheese curds to come. LIke I said... only 1 other table in the whole restaurant.

We already waited 40 minutes for food so I didn't send it back. The server never came back to ask how our food was either. My niece got a grilled cheese on the kid's menu. It was 90% bread for a 4 year old. Parents don't get this option! It's not worth the money. I know they were busy so trying to be respectful of that. Unfortunately the service was slow, the staff lacking and the food average to below, so go for a drink but choose your food wisely.
