Awesome atmosphere. The place really looks cool. Very friendly and efficient service. Came back two or three times to check on me. The downside of my visit: I got a Western burger. It involves the burger, bacon, cheese and BBQ sauce. As soon I picked it up the sauce started flowing out of the bun like the whole thing was fed diuretics. I had to put a napkin on my plate and wait for it to stop so it wouldn't wouldn't make my fries start skinny dipping involuntarily in BBQ. The burger itself looked like a patty from BK. The bacon to burger ratio was exactly the same. All I could taste was bacon. I couldn't tell if the BBQ was any good or not because I was having a bacon coronary. I'll return sometime though to try their breakfast. I hear tell it's tasty, and though I don't cotton to the high prices it's hard finding any quality food for good prices. read more

Blown away by the "Big Breakfast"! I'm a big breakfast kinda guy, my favorite meal of the day... this was absolutely fantastic. Three eggs, potatoes, toast with bacon, links, & patties. We stopped here for an early dinner, and I was looking for a great salad bar. The choice of soups today were not some of my favorites, but it is nice to have it offered with the salad bar. The salad bar was fairly Limited, and I was interested in the coleslaw, that absolutely had no flavor or taste. Other ancillary vegetables were of the usual kind, and I wasn't really excited about the experience at the salad bar. The fried cod was very Bland, and I was hoping to get a baked potato, but that is not possible with this restaurant. The server was very pleasant, and offered sour cream and butter for the second choice of mashed potatoes. The prices were decent, but I don't know if I would ever return again. read more

We made for first trip to Mega today! We were in the area to visit the Caves and stopped at Mega Grill before our hike. Delicious breakfast, friendly, knowledgeable staff and the cleanliness of this establishment was stellar. Loved the historic photos of Maquoketa too. We decided to go out to bring in the new year! We did not order nothing special we just ordered grilled chicken and butterflied shrimp. I just had a question on a the shrimp dish and I had questioned the waitress quite a few times about it and I just sense a slight attitude like why don't you get this the first. Well I'm the customer if I don't get it I will ask. It's not a big deal I'm paying for it so I have the right to. So I was not happy about that but I was polite about it. I love Mega's Grill & Mega the person. They have a wide selection of meals, specials (look at the blackboard), and they serve breakfast anytime (that's awesome), the atmosphere is totally welcoming and warm, temperature is perfect, and the service is excellent. So, how's. The food taste? Personally, I love everything I've ever ordered. It feels like the best of home cooking. Needs Improvement: I would say consistent quality steaks. Would not recommend to anyone. The servers were friendly,the restaurant looked nice. The food was terrible all around I ordered a 14 dollar meat lovers skillet, it came out with half raw hash browns no seasoning and only filled a 1/3 of a normal size bowl instead of being served in a skillet. There was an order for 2 eggs hash browns and bacon, instead of making fresh bacon they pulled a couple pieces off there closed breakfast buffet which was old and the hash browns were hard to the touch like they had been under a warmer for to long. The Philly sandwich was the one decent thing, served with over cooked cheese balls. All and all a huge disappointment, the server did ask how the food was and when we told her the issues she just walked away. So don't expect them to fix their mistakes.
