Came in for a cheeseburger, walked out with a steak and cheese grinder. Seen the pre-made selections as you first walked in and couldn't help but think this is not what everyone is talking about on here. Then noticed the sandwich shop in the back and felt better. As stated before I wanted to try their cheeseburger but noticed they had a steak and cheese grinder on the menu so went with that instead. Took the typical time to make the sandwich. One regular customer briefly talked to someone making the sandwiches and he said you look busy and she said it was lunchtime. I opened up my to go container when I got in my car and at first glance I thought there's barely anything in it. Picked it up and noticed that the roll was fresh without even biting into it and feet all the bulk inside the sandwich too. Sandwich was delicious and for once in my life I did not burn the roof of my mouth on a steak and cheese grinder, not saying it wasn't hot because it was but I ate it with caution. I have traveled through quite a bit recently and see I myself stopping in for lunch occasionally. read more

Their prices are so insanely high, and they so blatantly gouge people that it's insulting. They are the only people around in that area and they have great selection, but know that you are fully being taken advantage of in a way that is beyond any other similar business. read more

It is true that these are the best burgers in town, and anywhere around for that matter! Normally, the milkshakes are also perfect. My "beefs," however, are as follows: 1) The prices are outrageous. Then, if you pay by card, they have the machine programmed to these insane pre-set tip amount selections: 25%, 30%, and 40%! WHAT?! It should not cost $50 for two people to eat at a gas station! 2) They don't like to give out condiments at all! 3) They do make mistakes. I've had the wrong sandwich meat given to me twice. 4) I've been served stale, or freezer-burned ice cream here twice. 5) The Polish ladies are hot and cold. 7/12/20. I stopped here again today, while out for a cruise on my motorcycle. This time I was hungry and decided to try a sandwich, based upon the recommendation of some folks that were eating theirs last time I was here. The place was really jumpin' with all the people coming and going to & from the shoreline. This little grocery/deli/ filling station is perfectly situated for that. As busy as they were, the young woman who took my sandwich order and made it was very polite and soft spoken. The hospital masks and plexiglas shield, along with the hubbub of activity in the store made it a bit hard to communicate, but she was patient and got my sandwich made quickly. The woman who cashed me out was very polite and pleasant, despite being slammed with customers. Once outside, I opened the clamshell container holding my grinder, and found it very generously filled with roast beef, lettuce, tomato & cheese. It was made with very tender beef, not at all chewy or stringy, and seasoned Italian style. A great sandwich that I enjoyed at one of the picnic tables provided outside on a grassy area with a nice view of the small traffic circle that handles the intersection of Rts. 80, & 81, in Killingworth. The circle was REALLY busy with cars from all directions, but most headed north or south to or from the shoreline. I enjoyed it all immensely. Try this little deli! I had the chicken cutlet on a hard roll and my husband had the steak and cheese sub. Both were very good. There are picnic tables to eat on as well as some chickens in a cage that the young children enjoyed watching. read more

Holy awesome sandwiches Batman! I will never go to the Subway down the street again! When I started working weekends in Madison I had no clue where to go for lunch. This area is not heavily littered with restaurants and delis like the area that I live in and I worry about driving too far to get back in time before my lunch is over. I tried a couple other spots and Cloverleaf is my choice! The sandwiches are made right in front of you with fresh ingredients. The girls I have met making sandwiches have both been extremely friendly and good with customer service. There are not as many topping/meat choices as some would like but the meat is good quality and piled high. I certainly wish they had a cooktop so I could order a Reuben but I'm fine with turkey! Any kind of sandwich makes me pretty happy! Cigars, coffee, gas, and other convenience items are sold here but I come in for the sandwiches! read more

Ordered a sandwhich. the cheese had mold on it. the date written on the cheese wrapper in sharpie was from November. it is December 30th. the server stated that the mold was "on the other side of the cheese". when I refused to take or pay for the food I was told I was rude. Very disappointed- we got overpriced subpar subs with an attitude! We just moved down the street and saw such good reviews that we thought we would try it out. The girl making our sandwiches was very rude and made a snarky comment when I questioned if there was more lettuce than the brown old lettuce sitting out. Remodeled not too long ago by the new owners, the Cloverleaf is definitely convenient in rural Killingworth. There's nothing super outstanding here, but you can get gas, groceries, junk food and sandwiches made to order. And I know this may not mean much to too many people, but--they have a good selection of cigars as well. read more

A long-time local favorite for take-out sandwiches. Huge piles of meat on fresh rolls. A no brainer if you're looking for a quick meal. Try the roast beef and Swiss, skip the chicken parm. Seems like they try to employ local high school kids which is appreciated. read more
