Taking a break for a bottle of water. They've got a few picnic tables here. Not many places to stop and sit with restrictions.

7/12/20. I stopped here again today, while out for a cruise on my motorcycle. This time I was hungry and decided to try a sandwich, based upon the recommendation of some folks that were eating theirs last time I was here. The place was really jumpin' with all the people coming and going to & from the shoreline. This little grocery/deli/ filling station is perfectly situated for that. As busy as they were, the young woman who took my sandwich order and made it was very polite and soft spoken. The hospital masks and plexiglas shield, along with the hubbub of activity in the store made it a bit hard to communicate, but she was patient and got my sandwich made quickly. The woman who cashed me out was very polite and pleasant, despite being slammed with customers. Once outside, I opened the clamshell container holding my grinder, and found it very generously filled with roast beef, lettuce, tomato & cheese. It was made with very tender beef, not at all chewy or stringy, and seasoned Italian style. A great sandwich that I enjoyed at one of the picnic tables provided outside on a grassy area with a nice view of the small traffic circle that handles the intersection of Rts. 80, & 81, in Killingworth. The circle was REALLY busy with cars from all directions, but most headed north or south to or from the shoreline. I enjoyed it all immensely. Try this little deli! I doubt you'd be disappointed!

I couldn't say no to the cheese danish!

As stated before I wanted to try their cheeseburger but noticed they had a steak and cheese grinder on the menu so went with that instead.

We were pleasantly surprised by the array of cooked choices. My husband loved the chicken meal. I had the chef's broccoli salad. Really yummy & innovative. The cutlets were crispy! We bought them to make sandwiches for our kids. I also got a pound of breaded eggplant cutlets. Amazing! All reasonably priced. The owner was personable & chatty. The ladies who served were fast! We'll be back!

No a/c. All the food laid out was just sitting there, steamy, smelly and a potential health risk. And typical of this place, there never seems to be enough people working at the hot food bar despite a line that stretches and coils around the place, making the wait interminable. Still I hung in as the food here rarely disappoints. But then I saw someone cleaning a countertop with what looked like a soiled rag. And then I saw all the others picking up food with their rubber-gloved hands. And then I thought of the genius who invented tongs and how he would have had a conniption witnessing this scene, which as I was walking out the door seemed slightly chaotic. And no, I didn't buy anything.

It's a very cute spot with a charming store area filled with unique gifts, perfect for picking something up while you're there. More importantly, their food offerings really impressed us. They serve breakfast until 11:30 AM, along with a full lunch menu, coffee, and freshly baked goodies. Their baguettes are made in-house, and to my delight, they also offer gluten-free bread! The staff were very sweet and helpful! I had the gluten-free breakfast sandwich and it was perfectly made. It was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. My dad went with the Southwestern sandwich and enjoyed it! It's definitely a welcoming stop with great food.

The deli and coffee house has a very antique, old-school vibe that fits nicely with the charm of the area. They offer coffee, sweet treats, and a variety of sandwiches, making it a convenient stop while exploring the town. We ordered the South West and Monte Cristo sandwiches. Both were nicely portioned--bulky sandwiches filled with roasted chicken, fresh tomatoes, and avocado. The food itself was decent and satisfying enough for lunch, but nothing particularly memorable. While we enjoyed the meal, the overall value felt a bit off, especially considering the price point of $38, which seemed high for what we received. That said, Simon's Marketplace works well as a quick and easy lunch spot, especially if you're already in the area and looking for something casual. It's fine, just not somewhere I'd go out of my way for. Overall rating: 3 out of 5.
