I have been to so many vets over the years with my fur babies, some who look at you like a checkbook, to the point of telling me "maybe you should go elsewhere" when her nerves got the best of her (I'm looking at you Animal Medical Center) and others who put the needs of the animal above all else. He not only put my Leia's needs front and center but his care and compassion for the pet's companions, I can't say we're owners, was above and beyond. He gave my girl five more good years of life. Strut Your Pup is genuinely the BEST daycare (& boarding & grooming) ever…read more As a single dog mom with a very irregular work schedule, they've been an absolute lifesaver. They make everything so easy for me -- they do both pick-up and drop-off (only $10 each way on weekdays and $30 on weekends!), which is huge when I'm working long or weird hours and can't get home in time. They also literally have everything I could ever need in one place: daycare, boarding, veterinary care, and grooming. Peach has boarded with them before and it went perfectly. And the grooming? They do it while she's already at daycare and then drop her off at home clean and fluffy, so I come home to a happy, tired, freshly groomed dog. It's the most convenient thing ever. The grooming prices are very reasonable and the quality of the grooming is the best she's had (and we've tried MANY groomers). They're incredibly responsive over text and email, which I appreciate when I'm at work and can't call. And one of my absolute favorite parts: the daily report card and photos of my dog every single day so I know exactly how she's doing. Plus they have a live webcam you can access from anywhere -- I check in on Peach from work all the time and it always makes my day. I truly can't recommend Strut Your Pup enough. Maybe the problem lies in their definition of a "walk" and mine. I asked that the daily 30 minute activity be a walk, which they charge $25.00 for. If my dog doesn't have at least one "walk" per day, his digestive system shuts down. I walk him 3 miles per day to keep him regular, but expected at least one walk, on leash, to minimize the affects on him. I also expected a stress response but when they sent me a picture of him on day 2, I knew he was in trouble. Joe, the GM, called me after I sent an email discussing my disappointment and we had a productive conversation, and I had decided not to do this review. But then Robin, the owner called, to justify that they did nothing wrong and actually tried to blame it on my dog. That changed it for me. I'm sure if you have a dog with no special needs that they are fine, but beware if you have a dog that isn't normal. Make sure you talk to Joe so he understands what you expect from the visit and you may have a better outcome than mine.

He is communicative, caring, and has a great bedside manner. It is clear he truly cares about his patients and their owners. He gave my dog his wellness checkup last year. On the other hand and unfortunately, unfortunately, there are absolutely NO good things I can say about Dr. Schoenhut. She didn't return calls on two occasions despite our reaching out multiple times and being told things like, "oh she'll call in in 30 mins;" "oh, she was supposed to return your call after lunch;"; "I'll remind her again in just a minute;" "She's currently in with another pet but she'll reach out before she leaves (which she didn't). It took three more calls the next day (with similar excuses) before she called after the practice had closed for the day. I had brought my dog in for a number of reasons because he had a lot of muscle and overall weight loss in a very short period of time, could no longer jump up onto even the couch, his face had become gaunt, and his face and body (particularly the former) had been turning gray very quickly. Based on his condition, I was pretty sure that he had cancer. I've attached two pictures. The first is what he looked like during his wellness exam with Dr. Nolan about 8-ish months before I came back. The second is what he looked like the month after the exam by Dr. Schoenhut. He wasn't quite as wasted away at the time she examined him, but it wasn't much better. After Dr. Schoenhut examined him, she ordered a number of tests. When the results came in, she started breezing through things without defining the medical terms. I had to stop her, asked her to break it all down, and what it all meant. I asked her to explain the results and just to be straight with me if it looked like it was cancer--particularly because of the way he looked. She was kind of vague, talking about how certain markers *might* indicate the presence of cancer, and then recommended other tests that could be performed--including something like bone-marrow extraction--that would have cost over (if I'm remembering correctly) about $3,000 to $3,500 if we wanted to be 100% certain. I later learned that one of the markers on my dog's original test was in the 9,000 range but normal was in the 300 range, and that plus another elevated marker, together with his physical condition as shown in the picture below were sufficient to diagnose the presence of cancer without the need for the other really expensive tests In both visits Dr. Schoenhut--unlike Dr. Nolan--made me feel like she was just rushing through the appointment to get onto the next appointment. Literally the worst vet experience I've ever had in the 21+ years I've been a dog owner. But for the fact that Dr. Nolan and the staff are so great, I'd have rated the business no higher than 2 stars. If you do choose this practice, make sure you ask for and get Dr. Nolan.

But there were no surprises and we were guided through the various test options along the way to help control the cost. All of the ladies working there and the doctor were so professional and clearly dedicated to their jobs. They were very gentle with our sick cat and patient with us worried parents. And after we'd gone home they kept calling to check in on our cat to see if we had any other questions or concerns. They were so wonderful. Again the costs kicked our butt but in an emergency they were amazing.

Extremely concerned when my male cat vomited up his entire stomach and visited the litter box…read moremultiple times within a couple of hours. Called this place after doing an extensive search for a decently rated pet ER (not many around me). I am so thankful there is at least one, and they're open 'round the clock. Was placed in an examination room and was seen fairly quickly by a tech for vitals, followed by the vet (I swear I tried so hard to remember her name to give her a personal shout out but stress took away my memory). She was awesome. Thorough and caring. While nothing appeared to be an evident emergency, my cat was clearly suffering from something hurting him. Recommended course of action seemed slightly excessive, but this vet truly stepped up to help me out. I consented to an xray, which indicated constipation. Treatment included sub-q hydration, anti-nausea medication, and a laxative. Cat had never been poked and prodded so much in his life. But he was such a good boy, and thankfully never bit or scratched- just growled and hissed. I would have too, little buddy!! I truly, sincerely appreciate knowing my boy doesn't have any bowel obstruction or anything worse. Great relief that we'll manage with the laxative and hopefully he'll be good as new. Thank you to the Vet Tech and the assistant who were both so helpful and supportive (and whose names I also forgot). Great team. I really, really love that every staff member called my boy "friend" and treated him like their own.

From the very beginning, it was clear this is a family-owned place run with compassion and integrity. They treated my cat with the utmost dignity and care, and they treated us, the grieving family, with patience and respect. Not once did we feel rushed or disregarded. They gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye, and they did it in the most humble and comforting way possible. In moments like these, emotions run high, and it is rare to find people who truly understand how to handle them. The team here made sure our grief was honored, our feelings were acknowledged, and that our cat's final journey was handled with gentleness. If you are ever in the painful position of needing these services, I cannot recommend them enough. They go far beyond just providing a service. On the morning of Wednesday January 7th our almost 20 year old cat Oreo passed at home after a long…read morebout of Kidney Failure. We knew that we wanted to have her cremated as we had done we other pets that had passed through the years. We had dealt with another crematory in the past through our vet(s) and were nt happy with the recent reviews that they'd been getting. After some research we came upon your crematory and were happy with what we were reading about other people's experiences. We called that morning and spoke to Marisol who was very sympathetic, informative, and respectful. She gave us an appointment right away. We drove to them in Secaucus from Brooklyn and when we arrived Marisol met us at the door. She and Mariah were very polite, understanding, and accommodating. They took our Oreo and placed her on a bed surrounded by flowers and gave us some time alone to say our goodbyes. Marisol then waked us through the cremation process and showed us where it would be done and guaranteed us that it would only be Oreo's ashes that we would be receiving. We were given the opportunity to be present for Oreo's cremation. Ultimately Oreo's ashes were returned to us in less than 2 hours and were were able to bring her back home with us same day. They made this sad morning easier to get through. Along with Oreo's ashes we received a beautiful wooden box to keep her in with an engraved brass pate attached, a certificate allowing us to travel with her ashes, a wooden beaded bracelet, her paw print in clay with 2 gems attached, a stand for her paw print, a rose that lights up, and a notebook with the Rainbow Bridge poem on the cover. We were overwhelmed by all that we were given and the wonderful service that we were provided by Marisol and Mariah. We highly recommend Pet Rest in Peace to any loving pet owner.
