Overall, it was a nice stop. I like supporting local businesses and you can't go wrong with a chocolate shop. Though, like others noted, the signs warning you can't take pictures inside seem a little aggressive and I agree, doesn't really make much sense given how social is such a great marketing tool. With that said, I did find the shopkeeper to be friendly and was nice and chatty. I went here before visiting the Bucks County Playhouse to surprise my kids with small bags of candy. It was definitely pricey but it put a smile on my kids' faces which made it all worth it. I got several bags of gummy candy. It was fresh and of course I had to get a bag of gummy bears for myself and thought it tasted great. I also got a bag of dark chocolate covered marshmallows. My mother in law loved them. This place was ok. We didn't end up buying anything here but it was still fun to browse. Their products are mostly chocolate covered products (chocolate covered Rice Krispie treats, chocolate covered potato chips, chocolate covered Oreos, chocolate covered bacon, etc). There is a giant gummy worm (I think it said world's largest?) and giant gummy bears. Fun to look at, almost like browsing in a museum behind glass windows. She was so welcoming, very interested in our background and experience, and we felt like we were speaking to an old friend. however, the chocolates i got were absolutely delicious and the owner is a dying breed in that she makes everything homemade, has a hard earned business that she has true passion for and meticulously worked on. I'm just now seeing the reviews that mentioned no photos. Oops, well in my defense, when I see a multi pound gummi worm my Yelpstinct takes over and I must capture it. Along with that gummi insanity, there are also huge gummi Bears and gummi shot glasses. These items are not made here, but the chocolates are. Many are already bagged up in small sizes for quick snacking. And others are sold loose in a neatly organized glass case. Sampled were the dark chocolate cashew turtles, and milk chocolate almonds. Both very good and not as expensive as other chocolatiers. The person behind the counter was super friendly on this Saturday night, and I believe the owner was upstairs in the chocolate lab. It is a very tiny shop, and I imagine that those who work here can get a bit overwhelmed at peak shopping times. This place sells chocolate and candy goodness, and yet I am only giving them two stars. I wanted to like this place; in fact I wanted to love this place. However, that just wasn't the case at all. Upon first walking in you are hit with the smell of chocolate that is so strong your senses go from "yummy" to "yucky" in a matter of minutes. Sidebar: We had seen about 15 stores in the downtown strip of New Hope that had signs outside saying no photography in store. I don't get this concept at all or the logical reasoning of it, but I'll give them this outdated and ridiculous 'rule'! I checked the door no sign about photos, we walked around the store for a bit and no sign either. I took a few little snap shots of baskets filled with candy (with no flash), and I hear screaming from behind me "No photos" "Do not take photos in my store!" I said I was sorry very politely as I made my purchase and the women behind the counter said "If you want to take photos you can leave" I should have just left, but something about the chocolate dipped Peeps in my hand made me stay, plus they were only $5. The home-made chocolate products seemed reasonably priced but the bags of bulk candy seemed over priced. I made my purchase and as she handed me my package she 'tap tap tapped' on the small sticker that secured the bag closed, "STOP DO NOT EAT IN STORE" and gave me a look as if to imply ' I could have done without your business you terrible photo taking girl' Really? Yeah ok, I'll give you that one too. As we left I turned around to take a photo of the outside, thinking "I'll respect her no photo rule even though she was mean and just post one of the outside on yelp...as doing this she throws up a sign in the window to match all the others on the street: No Photos. And so like any New Yorker would do in that situation I took a photo of that sign and decided I'm posting them all up on yelp: rules are for the weak! Now onto the important stuff, my chocolate dipped Peeps. I like chocolate in small doses but I really really love me some Peeps! And here was a rainbow of peeps with the perfect amount of chocolate in front of me to devour. Well I should have known better. Peeps = Easter and Easter ='s April. And that ='s months ago. They were hard, stale, and tasted off. I can deal with the hard factor, in fact I enjoy Peeps best when they have dried a little, but these were just off. So off that the nothing-special chocolate didn't help one bit. Maybe I made the wrong choice, or maybe the sour attitude of the women working here has started leaching into the product. Candy we purchased was ok (just ok, not great) but we still left with a sour taste in our mouths. It couldn't have been from the candy itself since each bag is sealed with a large sticker that states "Do Not Eat Candy in the Store!" Avoid this place. There are much better chocolate shops in New Hope (Pierre's and Sciascia), plus the store owner is crusty and rude. My partner and I were in the shop during our first visit to New Hope and browsing around. The prices seemed high for what you got, pre-packaged candy that was either purchased from a bulk candy supply like Asher's or items simply dipped in chocolate. A small bag of nonpareils was less than a quarter of a pound (I have a scale for weighing packages for Amazon shipments) and cost $7, which would make it $28 a pound. You can get homemade chocolate for significantly less than that at any other good candy shop in New Hope or elsewhere in the area. I paid less than that from a boutique chocolatier in Brooklyn. As the owner was ringing up my order, because I thought I'd give it a shot anyway and see if it was especially good chocolate (it wasn't), I made the mistake of asking about all the "no picture" signs. My partner and I counted 15 of them in the small shop, along with other signs displaying different rules. I was genuinely curious and wondered aloud if they had experienced issues with people being disrespectful in the past. The owner, who had already seemed kind of put off, completely changed tone and began lecturing me on how business operates. At no point did I engage, other than to apologize multiple times in an attempt to diffuse the situation, but she continued rudely talking down to me. It was all I could do not to point out that I received my MBA from Wharton. It was one of the most bizarre exchanges I'd ever experienced and at no point was I rude or did I attempt to take a picture or violate any of her many other rules, yet she got very nasty. I go in here every time I come to New Hope. Love the chocolate strawberries & my boyfriend likes the peanut butter fudge. I have never had the owner be rude to me not once and she actually went out of her way to make me my strawberries when they were out and just closing the store. Which was super nice of her. I read some of the reviews and you have to know that this is a very tiny tiny shop. I can understand not having strollers in the store especially on the weekends. I don't know the owner personally but I think maybe with the crowds on the weekends things can get pretty hectic so, I think people could be a little more understanding of her rules about the strollers & adhering to the signs about not taking pictures. read more

The chocolate covered twinky was unforgetable. I loved it. I will get this again! Especially since it's only half (less calories). I had Bacon covered in chocolate as well. It tasted really meaty with chocolate the two flavors really contrasted. It was fun. Fun new foods like this make the day way more interesting. So I gave this place an extra star for that. I find it amusing that this candy store doesn't allow photos, especially when you can find better candies and better service elsewhere. Take note that this candy store sells their candy in packages; you can't buy just one of something. On this visit we stopped and got Irish Potatoes that were so lack luster and left me wanting the real ones, (I had to hit the grocery store on the way home to remember they can be oh so delicious). We also got s'mores on a gram cracker (sold two in a plastic wrap) with a bit of chocolate - they must not move candy very fast, since the marshmallow was stale - (I've had better!) No photos......really, why?! Seriously, I genuinely want to know, was there a secret entrance to a magical realm or was she suspecting that we will find ways of stealing her secret chocolate recipes. Also, why can we not eat our purchased items, until we leave the shop......... probably to avoid the awkward situation, when the customers are not satisfied with their order. The chocolate assortments are pricey and if you do not have cash, 10 dollars is the minimum for a credit card. The chocolate covered bacon strips did intrigue my taste bud, but it was just a novelty product or it was just not my thing. I also brought 2 types of dark chocolate: The espresso melt away and the almond cluster. Unfortunately, there weren't dark enough and they tasted more like milk chocolate. I prefer my chocolate real dark and a hint of a bitter kick to it.....(72% or more). As for the service, I could understand why some people may not appreciate it. While we were in the middle of being serviced, the woman who was servicing us immediately went to the next customer to obtain their order. Although we were still deciding on what chocolate pieces to order, she told the other customer, "Since they are still taking a while, I can help you." I understand she is running a business and more customers equal more money, but to dismiss us in a middle of a transaction is doltish and foolish. Honestly, I am indifferent to this service as long as I have my order, but the woman just indirectly told us, we were taking too long and hurry up, which upset my friend who was with me. If she had told us, "Take your time, but I am going to help the next customer," it could have ended differently. My husband & I always make it a point to go here when we're in New Hope since I love the dark chocolate caramels & the almond butter toffee crunch, which are delicious. I'd give the candy five stars, but the woman who runs the place is extremely rude. When we stopped in the other night with two friends, I asked what time she was closing. She said six o'clock - I checked my watch, and it was 6:45. I didn't find her answer particularly amusing, nor did she. If you don't want people coming in after six on a Friday night, post your hours of operation and lock the door at six. Zero stars for a very poor attitude. I can get much better quality chocolate and a friendlier owner at a certain chocolate shop in Princeton, NJ. I order solid chocolate bears in quantity at Christmas time for my many nieces and nephews. I have been ordering them from Country Fair Chocolates for years after another supplier went out of business. I am so pleased with everything about this store. The chocolate bears are delicious, the owner is one of the nicest people I have ever met, and their service is remarkable. I live in Atlanta, GA and had them shipped sight or taste unseen the first year. They arrived in excellent condition. The product was loved by everyone. Stopped in here on a recent trip to fulfill my chocolate craving. Got an assortment of candies and was pretty happy with them. The store had a good, not great, selection of candies. Plenty of chocolates sold by the pound plus chocolate covered Twinkies, Oreos, and bacon. They could have had a better assortment of hard candies but mean it is a chocolate store. I purchase what I thought were chocolate covered peanuts, went outside opened the bag, popped a few in my mouth only to discover they were chocolate covered raisins. I went into the store to exchange them and the nasty woman SNATCHED the bag from my hands and in a nasty tone prompted me to get a different bag. I was in shock with the way she grabbed it from me and in front of other customers, so rude and very bad business!!! So the sweets there are good and have that homemade thing going on and yes it higher in price and I paid a little more then I should.
