Super friendly staff, unique flavors. Left two out for the next day. Was still good. Pumpkin Cheesecake was the favorite. Not too sweet. Apple Cider Donut had nice crystal sugars on the outside that added a nice texture. Holy Cannoli was the least favorite. It just tasted like a cookie with chocolate dip. Sciascia Confections, found in the bustling Ferry Market is a fantastic find for gluten free folks! Every single item at Sciascia Confections is gluten free (from macarons, to truffles, to chocolate bars, to chocolate covered cookies and everything else). As a macaron enjoyer I've had my fair share of different types from numerous locations and Sciascia Connections continues to stand out as one of the best for both quality and flavor. For my most recent visit, I tried the apple cider donut flavor and the go eagles flavor. Both were just perfect! Fresh, robust and unique. While I only purchased two macarons, there were around 15-20 flavor that all look and sound mouth watering. In addition to the macarons I was pleased to see their gluten free Dubai chocolate bars. As someone who appreciates pistachio cream- the typical gluten containing Dubai chocolate bar has left me with some FOMO. But FOMO no more! Sciascia Confections provides both full Dubai chocolate bars and smaller Dubai chocolate truffles. I opted for the smaller truffle variety in milk chocolate. The rich and creamy pistachio filling mixed with the gluten kataifi was a party in my mouth. While at Sciascia Confections I chatted with the owner who was friendly, knowledgeable and dedicated to providing people with gluten allergies top tier products that don't compromise flavor, texture or quality. I look forward to try a few more varieties of macarons and the whole Dubai chocolate bar the next time I return to Sciascia Confections! read more

Everything Sciascia makes is gluten free! Only tried the macarons and they were AMAZING. Staff very friendly. Located within the ferry market so if you want to hang out you just find seating where you can within the market. Would absolutely go back to try more! read more

My wife knew of Sciascia confections and after seeing so many amazing looking confections we needed to try a bunch. All of the treats were outstanding. Chocolates are beautifully handmade So decadently superb. Macrons are very sublime. Nothing but pure delight. The coconut macaroons very moist and enrobed in such a perfect dark chocolate. Probably the best ganaches I can remember having. 70% dark is perfect! So many other places offer only lower percentage like 55% and less that makes them too sweet. These were the perfect amount of sweetness and the infusion of flavors and notes made them exquisite. Especially a good option if you are dieting and trying to stay off sugar. Still an epic 5 star place. I mentioned a "con" in my last review and Tom (the owner) reached out to get more clarification and to send me new chocolates (which is totally not necessary). He mentioned that he tastes the chocolates every few days and asked for more specifics so he could do epic quality control... even though the con was a total non-event and Sciascia has been 5 stars the whole time. :) (I'd edit my last review but I can't via Yelp.) Anyway - amazing chocolate, kind people, and an overall epic experience. Definitely stop by this place for some delicious treats or gifts! read more

Normally, I wouldn't opt for macarons for a sweet treat but their gluten-free sign on the display case pulled me in. They have a huge variety to choose from, but I carefully selected the most tempting flavors. The most impressive thing? Each one was absolutely scrumptious, there wasn't a single flavor that wasn't. The apple pie one was the most unique I've had and I would love to try more upon returning to New Hope. read more

Ooohhh.... we were in New Hope, just passer-by-ers, and had no idea this little shopping place had come to life. So glad we entered this small gallery of shops. It's crowded, and there are lines, but it seems to go smoothly... we ended up with a variety pack of delicious macarons!! This place was definitely calling to us. The macarons were all very fresh, nicely presented, colorful - "I'll take this one, this one, this one...." Do not bring children!!!!! If you do not plan on buying anything, they will have an instant meltdown. You're welcome. Buy some to eat right there an then, plan to bring some for strolling outside (and on your way home). Then go to the gym!!! read more

I don't live in the area full time anymore but when I do come back a few times a year I make a point to visit Tom Sciascia's shops. No doubt the absolute best Macarons. Especially the Pistachio (with rolled pistachio edges!) and the salted caramel. They're better than Le Macaron, Le Parfait, and even much better than Laduree from Paris, which I visit in Soho NYC. The mentioned shops macarons all taste too similar, overly sweet and no distinct flavoring but Sciascias burst with the flavor of what they are. And the chocolates are so smooth and have a bit of edge when it comes to unusual flavorings so much better than Godiva yet not too weird like Vosge. Looking forward to my next visit to New Hope! read more

Truly a magical and whimsical experience when you visit Sciascia. From the elegant displays to the samples of drinking chocolates it is a treat for all the senses. I love the macaroons and love trying the fun new flavors that they have inspired by the seasons or beloved treats like cannolis and birthday cake. The macaroons are all gluten free and sometimes there are gluten free cupcakes available which are divine. The truffles are indulgent and there are enough to satisfy everyone's sweet tooth with a range of fillings from peanut butter, to caramel, to whiskey. They make a great present and the packaging is beautiful. The staff at Sciascia are always so nice and patient and let you just enjoy how pretty everything looks without pressuring you to make a decision. read more

The macarons are great and everything, but, you guys, if you have not tried their European drinking chocolate mix you are doing yourselves a gigantic disservice. I moved out of the area several months ago, but I cannot give this up so I now order it online and have it delivered to my new home. I even ordered a whole bunch of bags to give away as Christmas gifts. I expect I will be very popular with my new neighbors. read more

My husband and I stumbled across Sciascia Confections in New Hope. We saw the sign declaring "the best macarons this side of Paris" and kind of laughed at such a bold claim but who can resist a good macaron. First off this was one of the most visually appealing spots. The chocolates are STUNNING a true artwork that isn't often found. We sampled the hot chocolate and it was delicious. We did not try any of the chocolates but I am looking forward to soon. We got 6 flavors of macarons and each was more delicious then the last. I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to write a review of Lauren and Tom's amazing business. I had been looking forward to trying their macarons since I first heard they had opened a location in Stockton. Several months later, in June of 2018, Sciascia Confections created the most incredible wedding favors for us. I don't know if they were more beautiful or delicious, but they were definitely a hit among our wedding guests! Nine months later, we still get questions about where the truffles came from. They are such talented artists and perfectionists and won't put out a product unless it is absolutely perfect. So blessed to have discovered this business. I don't normally like traditional macaroons because they are so sweet...these are NOTHING like that. Try Nutella, red velvet or cannoli. My husband and I used Sciascia Confections last fall for our wedding. We had macaroons as our wedding favor and Sciascia executed them perfectly! Not only did they have the look in mind that we were going for...two macaroons in a clear, cellophane bag with a name tag and ribbon that matched our wedding colors, but the taste of the macaroons was out of this world! Loren and team were great to work with, too! They sent us samples of what the finished product would look like and even coordinated delivery with our on-site wedding planner. We really didn't have to do much and when guests entered the reception area the macaroon favors were a really nice touch on each guest's plate. I would recommend using them for your next event or just to cure a sweet craving! read more

WE have been long time customers of Sciascia Confections... Tommy and his wife Luren are 2 of the nicest ppl you could ever meet. Tommys creations are over the top...too often when you have a sweet treat, you taste nothing but sugar. Not true here, the truffles, macarons, chocolates, whoopie pies, brownies, etc... are OUTSTANDING and everything is Gluten Free!!! Tommy creations and displayed perfectly and everything is so neat and clean. My daughter and future son in law will be using the truffles for their wedding favors, next year. I visited the Ferry Market location and purchased some French Macaroons. Since going to France last year with the family we have been on quest for macaroons similar to those we had in Paris here in the USA. We unanimously agreed that Paris has some serious competition, and we are pretty tough critics! Our quest is over, and we will be back to Scia Scia for some more Macaroons and chocolates. Found this amazing chocolate fantasy world by accident while I was waiting to meet a friend at the new Ferry Market. I was blown away by the assortment of chocolate, macaroons, and delicacies inside their cases. Ordered some treats for a special occasion. The packaging was ripped open when it arrived and the food ant-infested, eve within the 'protective seal.' They would not refund me and demanded more money to order more. Terrible business etiquette, and their stuff is overpriced for the quality to begin with. read more

We have been getting macaroons from Tom for a while now. They are better than the ones we have had in Paris which speaks to Tom's confectionary ability. My absolute favorite is Nutella and the s'mores one is a close runner up. He also does limited edition flavors like chocolate covered strawberry macaroons for Valentine's Day. Wow! I just received a box of Sciascia chocolates for my 50th birthday from my dear friend. This is no regular box of chocolates - this is an experience! Each member of my family chose a different chocolate and the room became completely silent as everyone bit in. Eating a Sciascia chocolate is biting into a treat that tastes like it was made right in front of you. I've been to Laduree (the famous pastry house in Paris) and these macarons are better. The macarons themselves are beautiful and very prettily packaged. The flavors change seasonally, so there is always a new flavor to look forward to. I love to give a box or two of these as a hostess gift and I always serve them when I entertain. Everyone raves about them, and they are a delicious, colorful addition to the table. If you love chocolate, the WTF brownie is to die for! Best of all, it's all gluten free. read more

What a treat. My best friend and I stopped in this past weekend and couldn't have been happier. The hot chocolate is made of pure delicious chocolate, the marshmallows absolutely the best I've ever had - in the hot chocolate just heavenly - and delicious on their own as well. The gluten free chocolate cookie - everything was just wonderful. And Tom is just delightful. I'd highly recommend going to the Stockton Market and checking it out. Sooo yummy. I purchased some macaroons from Stephanie. She suggested a variety of flavors and was very helpful. The macaroons were so delicious that I ate one on my way to the car, turned around and purchased more! They are the best macaroons better than what I've had in France! My husband got coffee and these fancy cookies which I was suspicious about.....why? Because the flavor on one was like parmesean cheese and caramel and I really did not think it was going to work and it was the best thing I had! On top of the shop being incredibly beautiful, if you have little ones they have a play ice cream set and dinosaurs in the store to entertain them while you sip your coffee or enjoy a treat. I purchased several one pound and half-pound boxes of chocolates. I specified for each box, that I wanted the boxes filled. I did not care what the weight or prices were. Each box contained assorted chocolate-covered fruits and truffles. I buy the same candy varieties each year, so I am speaking from experience. Every year, the boxes are filled with the chocolate-covered fruits overlapping each other and small paper cups, each with one truffle. The boxes look impressive, when opened. This year, the woman who helped me did not overlap the fruit and put them in the box piece by piece. One chocolate-covered orange slice took up one entire row!! Every year, there are easily three orange slices per row and four pieces of other fruit, I.e. apricots/peaches, per row. When my recipients opened their boxes, the candy looked awful. The boxes were half full. Once again, I explicitly said I did not care about weight and/or price. I wanted the boxes FILLED!!! I have never been so embarrassed! The candy was good, but the presentation was just awful. I am a very loyal and dissatisfied customer. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edited to say- I also purchase the solid milk chocolate, foil-wrapped balls. Let me tell you, they were smaller than half their usual size. The foil is so hard to remove, I needed my 5 year old's little fingers to unwrap them! Smaller in size, higher in price.

When I say they are tops, it is because I have been to many chocolate stores, stores that have been around for decades. These other stores make some chocolate and also resell other chocolate, not the highest quality. I will not mention these other stores as they obviously have a loyal following to be open for decades, I just want better. This shop has 35 years history and is operated under the second owner, they are not the new kid on the block for sure. But you want high end chocolate you have to stop in this rather non-descript store and give their wares a try. They also ship for a flat fee which I recently tried and the goods came earlier than expected, although I really rather prefer to visit the shop.

Sometime there are great sales, other times, paying full price will put a dent in your wallet. The staff is always friendly and show their care despite typically being teenagers.
