Sciascia Confections, found in the bustling Ferry Market is a fantastic find for gluten free folks! Every single item at Sciascia Confections is gluten free (from macarons, to truffles, to chocolate bars, to chocolate covered cookies and everything else). As a macaron enjoyer I've had my fair share of different types from numerous locations and Sciascia Connections continues to stand out as one of the best for both quality and flavor. For my most recent visit, I tried the apple cider donut flavor and the go eagles flavor. Both were just perfect! Fresh, robust and unique. While I only purchased two macarons, there were around 15-20 flavor that all look and sound mouth watering. In addition to the macarons I was pleased to see their gluten free Dubai chocolate bars. As someone who appreciates pistachio cream- the typical gluten containing Dubai chocolate bar has left me with some FOMO. But FOMO no more! Sciascia Confections provides both full Dubai chocolate bars and smaller Dubai chocolate truffles. I opted for the smaller truffle variety in milk chocolate. The rich and creamy pistachio filling mixed with the gluten kataifi was a party in my mouth. While at Sciascia Confections I chatted with the owner who was friendly, knowledgeable and dedicated to providing people with gluten allergies top tier products that don't compromise flavor, texture or quality. Probably the best ganaches I can remember having. 70% dark is perfect! So many other places offer only lower percentage like 55% and less that makes them too sweet. These were the perfect amount of sweetness and the infusion of flavors and notes made them exquisite. Especially a good option if you are dieting and trying to stay off sugar. Still an epic 5 star place. I mentioned a "con" in my last review and Tom (the owner) reached out to get more clarification and to send me new chocolates (which is totally not necessary). Normally, I wouldn't opt for macarons for a sweet treat but their gluten-free sign on the display case pulled me in. Ooohhh.... we were in New Hope, just passer-by-ers, and had no idea this little shopping place had come to life. So glad we entered this small gallery of shops. It's crowded, and there are lines, but it seems to go smoothly... we ended up with a variety pack of delicious macarons!! This place was definitely calling to us. The macarons were all very fresh, nicely presented, colorful - "I'll take this one, this one, this one...." Do not bring children!!!!! I don't live in the area full time anymore but when I do come back a few times a year I make a point to visit Tom Sciascia's shops. No doubt the absolute best Macarons. Especially the Pistachio (with rolled pistachio edges!) and the salted caramel. They're better than Le Macaron, Le Parfait, and even much better than Laduree from Paris, which I visit in Soho NYC. The mentioned shops macarons all taste too similar, overly sweet and no distinct flavoring but Sciascias burst with the flavor of what they are. And the chocolates are so smooth and have a bit of edge when it comes to unusual flavorings so much better than Godiva yet not too weird like Vosge. Truly a magical and whimsical experience when you visit Sciascia. From the elegant displays to the samples of drinking chocolates it is a treat for all the senses. I love the macaroons and love trying the fun new flavors that they have inspired by the seasons or beloved treats like cannolis and birthday cake. The macaroons are all gluten free and sometimes there are gluten free cupcakes available which are divine. The truffles are indulgent and there are enough to satisfy everyone's sweet tooth with a range of fillings from peanut butter, to caramel, to whiskey. They make a great present and the packaging is beautiful. I had been looking forward to trying their macarons since I first heard they had opened a location in Stockton. Several months later, in June of 2018, Sciascia Confections created the most incredible wedding favors for us. I don't know if they were more beautiful or delicious, but they were definitely a hit among our wedding guests! Nine months later, we still get questions about where the truffles came from. My husband and I used Sciascia Confections last fall for our wedding. We had macaroons as our wedding favor and Sciascia executed them perfectly! Not only did they have the look in mind that we were going for...two macaroons in a clear, cellophane bag with a name tag and ribbon that matched our wedding colors, but the taste of the macaroons was out of this world! Loren and team were great to work with, too! They sent us samples of what the finished product would look like and even coordinated delivery with our on-site wedding planner. We really didn't have to do much and when guests entered the reception area the macaroon favors were a really nice touch on each guest's plate. Tommys creations are over the top...too often when you have a sweet treat, you taste nothing but sugar. I visited the Ferry Market location and purchased some French Macaroons. Since going to France last year with the family we have been on quest for macaroons similar to those we had in Paris here in the USA. Wow! I just received a box of Sciascia chocolates for my 50th birthday from my dear friend. This is no regular box of chocolates - this is an experience!
