I spent the weekend (6/12-6/14) here. The place was very accommodating, and the people were very nice. Yes some of the buildings are in need of repair (the building in Barbara C's pictures), but they are being worked on. This facility is run by a husband and wife and they are doing a fabulous job to keep up with all of the repairs and keep the facility looking nice. To Barbara C, Rome wasn't built in a day and repairs to buildings aren't fixed in a day as well. Also, you have bathroom facilities in your camper so why didn't you use those? The playground equipment is not in disrepair it is in good shape and the children I saw playing on it seemed like they were having a great time. As for the game room, did you happen to see the "New" game room? Obviously not, as you would have seen that it is very nice. As far as hearing the Northway, hello you're camping right next to it so you're going to hear the traffic. As I said before my weekend was very nice, and I would recommend this campground to anyone that was looking for a nice small family place to camp. read more

We lived at country haven for 3 years all summer,Very peaceful and relaxing. Lots of local restaurants to try, Plenty of gift shops all around. Only minutes from the post office and supermarket. Many places to explore in the adirondacks. If you play horseshoes country haven has professional pits, Beautiful Pavillion where summer time campground parties are put on by the owners. Baseball/softball field to use, Giant swimming pool that is heated. Playground for the kids is always full of happy children, And a mini golf course that is just great. The owners sell and deliver firewood to your lot. Just a Great all around place to stay all season. read more

My family helped Tony and Sue clear the land and establish this campground. We were one of the first to rent there. We let them borrow trucks, our free labor, supplies, tools, anything they wanted or needed. We brought in four other families. Once in a while we fell behind in a payment but always made it up quickly. This was never an issue. Then hard times fell on us and we were not quite sure if we could catch up so quickly. Just as we were going to pay them we found our camper, all of our belongings, our boat and everything in that was moved. GONE. We are not the only family they did this to. Many of the original folks moved on because they are terrible people. They only talk nicely to you if they can get something from you. You're welcome. Karma will get them. I was a seasonal camper here for many years. That being said, here is the good, the bad, and the ugly. Good: very nice seasonal campers, decent sized sites, nice pool area, and store/ice cream stand within walking distance (a couple of nice activities, which beside rides for the kids, are generally made happen through the efforts of seasonal campers) Bad: run down buildings with rotting floors, frequent power outages (=no A/C), occasional flooding, loud highway sounds, and pavilion looks like a junkyard most of the time Ugly: owners inability to communicate in a decent manner with seasonal campers; while they were once quite personable, they generally seem miserable most of the time and many of the campers acknowledge this, as well as their lack of pleasure in the way the place is being kept, to one another but tend to 'walk on eggshells' around the owners because of their fear of retribution (the owners get defensive and are unreasonably reactive to even the most benign situations--it is my belief that the campers stay there because they enjoy the nice community of campers and the friendships they have made). So, in all fairness, the place is okay for an occasional weekend stay if your camping standards are not very high. I would, however, caution those who are considering a seasonal site. There are definitely better campgrounds out there and nicer business owners to support. read more

. I chose to leave on my own accord due to the fact that the owners never updated anything but increased the seasonal rent.. Had electrical issues every year and had brand new camper. Neighbors had cable burn up and melt to camper due to inadequate wiring. The pictures speak for themselves and those buildings where like that for 5 yrs and never saw any work done to them once. Septic system was always an issue during wet season you could smell the it all the time. Everything the owner purchased for campground was used and half broken... I would say the pool was always clean however that really was the only thing to do. No railings on any staircase on those building and mold throughout. As far as wood being delivered you where told you could only buy from the owner on which he didn't always have it available and where not allowed to get it anywhere else. We ordered from fellow seasonal campers son who is in that business up there and the owner kicked him out of the facility due to selling wood to seasonal campers . Never once did he mow are lawn area my husband always had to... I moved to another campground which costs less and has way more activities for family's and the owners there treat you as family...also last but not least my son had a terrible accident at this campground on which EMS/fire where called and had to have helicopter air him to Albany Med. The owners tried to stop them from coming in because they weren't aware of the situation and that it was a prank from kids on which my son nearly lost his life. Not once did they call or ask how he was following the accident. However had the nerve to give my husband a hard time the day after it... That there made my decision on which to leave this campground on MY CHOICE, not theirs... read more

We also spent the weekend there(6/12-6/14) and had a wonderful time. We stayed in their rental trailer and it was very clean and comfortable. The owners were very friendly and made us feel like family. As far as the bathroom facilities I was told he is trying to build new ones but dealing with the APA (Adirondack Park Agency) has been the problem.We are planning on going back for a weekend in October to try some fall camping. read more
