This place has awesome bagels, and is the ideal "hole in the wall" type spot that doesn't have the super hype or influencer over-promotion for the place, and it just does quality bagel making. When we went the line was out the door, so the locals know what's good when it comes to bagel places around the area. I got the Whitefish as I saw it on the board for a decent price, and the bagel was crispy, well seasoned, and the portion of white fish was generous. They have the best bagels in Northport. My only beef with them is their olive cream cheese, which instead of containing chopped up olives mixed in the cream cheese, you have whole olives or very large pieces in the cream cheese so when you take a bit, you often wind up with a whole olive in your mouth. It seems like the maker is too lazy to chop up the olives, which is the overwhelmingly way to prepare olive cream cheese. At this point, my only solution is to buy the bagel plain and make my own olive cream cheese at home and put it on myself. read more

I have been eating country hot bagels for practically my entire life. My favorites are their sesame and everything. This place is the gold standard for bagels in my opinion, because of their consistently delicious flavor, texture, and most importantly the proportion of seeds/seasonings to bagel. They strike a perfect balance between other places where the bagel is either entirely covered in salty toppings or lightly dusted with a few seeds. Additionally, the texture is always perfect, meaning that they serve real bagels with a chewy bite to them, not just bagel shaped rolls. The only problem my family and I have ever had here was when a particular batch of bagels had a weirdly sweet taste, and not enough seeds on top. When my dad went in to explain the situation and ask for a refund, they understood completely, let us keep the bad batch, and gave us a new bag of a dozen bagels as a replacement. Additionally, everyone working there seems to be really nice and efficient to boot. And as for the ambiance inside, the place has been the same for at least 20 years. I used to love coming in as a kid and looking at all the little bobbleheads and cartoon characters while waiting in line. Small place with great service and tasty bagels. I knew the bagels would be good even before I exited the car just by watching the steady stream of customers enter and exit the place. The clientele was mature and that says to me they aren't going to eat garbage. Parking was tight but you could see people walking up to the place so that was another good sign. People were willing to park further away and walk to get their goods. The bagel was fresh and tasty but the cream cheese was average. I got a cream cheese on an everything bagel, a flat everything bagel for later and an iced tea for under $6. That pretty good for today's prices. I moved out of Long Island when I was 17. I come back a couple times a year. NEVER in 25 years have I been disappointed from this place. Every time I come home the staff is the same. Means they love working there. This place always does well. I like to get there right when they open for the SOFTEST bagels. Totally worth it. I try to explain to people on the west coast how good they are but if you aren't from NY you will NEVER understand. Country hot always has a place in my heart.
