I go to a lot of these types of places and they are all the same, so far, from what I have seen. I'm usually at these various living facilities anywhere from 3:00 to 5 hours and will I like how small this one is with two small houses for probably no more than a dozen residents if that in each house, there are zero engagement. I've been there from morning to afternoon and afternoon to evening and there's no engagement with the staff and the residents Beyond giving them food and very very occasionally bouncing a ball with them. There's no activities, art projects, exercise, just nothing at all. They have a TV on and that is literally it the entire day. The TV usually is at a volume that no one can even hear which is bizarre, since I have perfect hearing and all of the residents probably have to use hearing aids or can't hear it all. What they usually have on would be suitable for grade school children. It's just really strange. Living facilities are immensely expensive and no insurance covers it, so if I was ever going to put a family member in a place like this, they better be engaging the residents, interacting with them at least on an hourly basis, and doing more than just meal prep and getting them to and from the bathroom or their bedrooms. The staff are nice, though the majority are far too young. They seem to hire 18 to maybe 22-year-olds on average which is just strange. I guess cuz they can get away with paying them less? Not really sure. read more

Our mother recently passed after spending 3 years in assisted living and 7 months in memory care. Due to her dementia she wasn't always easy to care for but the staff were wonderful. In my opinion it takes a special kind of person to be a caregiver and we were blessed to get to know many of them in that time. I can't thank them enough for the compassionate care they gave to her, my sister and myself in her final days, their deep concern went way beyond expectations. read more

The Country Village is a wonderful residential facility. It isn't one of those "big hotel" type facilities. The setting is warm, inviting and beautiful. The grounds are immaculate, both buildings have large, landscaped back yards. My husband, my two dogs and I particularly enjoy sitting on the back porch of the Country Commons building listening to the water bubbling into the birdbath. The staff at the commons are attentive, caring and even loving to all of the residents. They have an efficient "news thread" and weekly staff meetings to facilitate good communications and continuity of care. The food is excellent, healthy, home cooked and filled with foods that feed the brain. The executive staff are all welcoming, accessible and very helpful. The owner is on site, mingles with the residence, her door is always opened and she cares about the residents and her staff that work in their home. When it came time to place my husband there was no question about where he should go. He had been attending the "Country Club" day care program twice a week for about a year, he had also stayed there a few time for respite care when I was out of town. He knew the staff , most of the residents and was comfortable there. He has now been there 10 months, is happy there, well cared for and, in some ways, he is better than he was at home. He recognizes me when I walk in, he didn't know me most of the time at home, he participates in activities and in the daily sit and be fit exercises. He interacts with the staff and with the other residents. It has been a very good experience for both of us. I highly recommend The Country Village. read more

What a wonderful place! My dad goes for dementia day care 10 am-2 pm Wednesdays. He'd go more often if we could afford it. They are warm sweet patient loving and so kind. It's beautiful and immaculate, and I feel like we are as important to them as dad is. I cannot recommend it enough! read more

The Country House is located at the north end of Chico off Cohasset Rd. A charming location with beautiful trees this facility is very cozy in its size. The executive staff are warm and positive upon arrival. The facility is always immaculate. The staff friendly when you come to visit. If you dont call and ask questions they provide no communication to you. At almost 5000 a month for rent you would think a quick ten minute call every month would not be out of the question. It is my opinion that the executive staff have become hardened (as one would imagine you would have to), having people essentially come there to die. They never see a happy outcome and this has to numb you over time. Maybe when you have a family situation that is looking for inheritance they feel justified that their love ones basic needs are met at this facility till the end comes and they are satisfied with that. The use and over use of chemical restraints in the form of Risperadone and Atavane I feel is out of control . Both have terrible side effects are specifically are not for use in elder patients. To be told its the only way to make them happy and turn off the voices in their heads to keep them calm is basically so they dont have to deal with normal human social interactions on their floor. Bring 30 total strangers that are of sound mind and stick them in a small room and see how many are going to stay quiet. Add demented minds and their will be normal friction. The solution ...medicate them. To be told that its about quality of life over quantity reinforces to me that this facilities belief is they are here to die so hurry up and get it done dont make my job any harder than it has to be. I have removed my mother from this facility and was horrified that I was not told about all of the medication that she was on. I knew of the high psyche drugs, they had her on a continues fentanyl pain patch (I was informed of this) but on top of that giving her 600mg Tylenol 3 times a day!!! and Oxycontin when needed which appears to be every day. So lets just kill off her kidneys and liver on top of everything else going on in her life. As soon as I moved her I took her off all pain meds and it took two week to hear her mention that she had some pain which we treated with one aspirin. The Risperadone has to be weaned off gradually and the process has been started and so far not one bad day has occurred. She accepted using a patient lift something they said she wouldnt do and had no problem using a Bodai which should help better for keeping the UTI 's under control. Not one time ever in a year did they mention that taking coconut oil can help slow down and sometimes reverse Alzheimers. We did a test doing it for a month and did see improvement but then the ability to get it to her everyday changed and we had to stop. We have renewed our efforts now that she is home and have seen improvements. So if you are looking for a place to place your elder demented parents so the load is off you and they can just die then this is the place. A better choice is buck up and care for them yourself as they cared for you. No one will do the job with the caring and compassion that you will do. read more

I cannot say enough good things about the staff at Country Village who loved and cared for my dad for almost seven years. He first stayed at the house but finished his time at the commons. They are diligent in care and notifying when anything out of the ordinary happens. They assisted us in lining up medical care visits at the facility when it became too difficult to go to the doctors office and always had great stories to tell us of things that dad did when were we able to visit. When the end was near they called immediately and we spent 10 days by his side and watched the staff lovingly care for us, our dad and all the residents. My brother and I each had something that took us out of town on his final day but we had hourly communication with the staff and three staff members were with him living and praying on him when he passed. I had several friends who recommended this facility and I am so happy we chose them to assist us with caring for dad when we were not able to do it ourselves. Highly recommend! read more

Our experience with the Country Village was a positive one. We found that the staff was wonderful and supportive especially at the end of my mom's life. They were attentive, caring, and compassionate for all mom's needs. The grounds were always well maintained and immaculate with wonderful seating areas for us to have visits outside. The inside of the home and residents rooms were always extremely clean. The staff took great care to keep residents rooms and bathrooms clean and organized. I found the staff to be extremely respectful, polite, loving and caring toward Mom and my entire family. We can not say enough wonderful things about how the last year of mom's life was so much better having been there. I visited anywhere from 5-7 times a week and found each and every staff person that I encountered to have compassion for the residents. The staff was not only supportive of my mother but I know there were many times I leaned on them for advice on how to handle a situation. I never once felt that my mom's needs were not met with the utmost dignity and respect. Toward the end of mom's life many of the staff came into visit her or myself on their day off. I call that dedication and love. I highly recommend Country Village to all my friends who may have a need for a facility such as this. I am so glad that my friend recommended this place to me for Mom. read more

My father-in-law lived at the Country Village for two years. At his previous assisted living place, he kept packing and saying it was time to go home. Once he moved into the Country Village, he settled in right away, quit packing, and told us his home was beautiful. We had to agree. The place is warm and cozy, always clean and tidy, and the location on a dead end street with big beautiful trees and well-manicured yards made us feel at home, as well. He began in the assisted living yellow Country House during the early stages of his Dementia. Later, they gradually transitioned him to the Dementia-assisted living Country Commons. They helped in the transition by having him spend some time there during each day, gradually increasing his time. By the time he moved, he was very comfortable and preferred that house. The caregivers actually spend some time in both houses so that the residents know them already when/if it's time to move. My husband and I were so impressed with how the caregivers cared for our dad. They paid attention to details-keeping him shaven, tucking in his shirt, and dressing him in his favorite clothes because they knew he liked to look nice. We saw them sit with residents, hold their hands, brush their hair, and visit with them as if they were family members. They always spoke with respect and love to the residents and demonstrated amazing patience. They took residents out on walks around the circle and put on special events every holiday and birthday. I am also fortunate enough to work at a school where the Country Club seniors come to work/interact with third graders a couple of times each year, which is beneficial all the way around. We received a monthly newsletter, both emailed and mailed, keeping us up to date. We also received phone calls whenever there was a concern. Between my sister-in-law, my husband, and me, there was one of us there at least three visits a week so we saw the caregivers in action quite a bit and got to know the staff well. Whenever our out of town family came to visit, they were equally impressed with the loving care they witnessed. My father-in-law passed away last month. Many of the caregivers came in during his last days to talk with him and share stories with us. One showed us pictures of our father with her little girl when she came to visit, and she had framed one for him in his room since he always loved little kids.They were visibly moved by his passing. The Executive Director, Cliff, checked back in with us throughout the night, even into the late hours, to ensure our father was not in pain and passed from this world peacefully. Once again, the employees of this facility did not disappoint! All of our siblings were equally impressed. We have been extremely pleased with our experience with The Country Village and would highly recommend it to others looking for a quality place for their loved ones. read more
