DO NOT PERFORM AT WIND CHIME IF YOU ARE A MUSICIAN I am a pianist here in Chico and play at multiple retirement homes monthly and they are all excellent, except for Wind Chime. They told me today after my second performance with them that they "never received my invoice" from my performance on November 3rd, 2024 even though I have email proof that I sent it and that it was received. Now my payment will be delayed another month making it two months total if not longer that I will receive payment after performing on November 3rd, 2024. A fellow pianist I know in Chico has still not received multiple payments from Wind Chime dating back months and other musicians have dealt with this as well. Do not bring your business to Wind Chime as a musician or performer. They do not respect you or your time and they do not pay you when they say they will. Go to any other retirement home in Chico but them. read more

We treat our elderly horribly in this country. Woke California is no exception. In fact, currently, criminals have more rights and receive better care than our elderly. This place is absolutely abhorrent. My father-in-law suffered his last three weeks of life here. The staff was at best, indifferent. They were unqualified, and he couldn't even receive proper medication because the company is worried the staff will steal the drugs. So its their policy to keep no liquid pain medicine. This is all a trickle down effect that begins with a terrible system that is in place in California. No one is required to work and those that do are not required to be competent. Horrible employees are impossible to fire. If you disagree with this post, great. Hopefully you won't live long enough to find yourself in a place like this. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR ELDERLY FAMILY HERE This establishment is the last place you want to bring your family to live out the remainder of their days . In fact , bringing them here will shorten their life span. For starters , I've been inside the facility and got the chance to speak with some of the care staff here. I've seen first hand how this facility is ran and how they conduct business. First off , Windchime hires unexperienced caregivers and med techs. One med tech in particular , gave the wrong medication to another resident and nearly killed her. She was sent to the hospital and , fortunately enough , she lived. She was in a drug indused daze for almost three days. Windchime never proceeded to fire this med tech ( caregivers who give out medication) , instead , they proceeded to let her continue to work with other residents. Secondly , the rooms are completely filthy because housekeeping refuses to clean up accidents , spills , and everything inbetween. You ask them to clean up urine and they won't clean it , AT ALL. Leading to strong odor and uncleanliness in the facility. Third, this place is poorly managed by people who have absolutely no idea what they're doing. This place has had 3 different executive directors in the past year and no one knows where this place is headed. Windchime is actually at risk of being shutdown due to social service & care home licensing violations. Some final notes : The care staff are severely overworked and underpaid. They will work you to complete exhaustion and will tell you that you aren't doing enough ! This place is a literal hell for the elderly ; I strongly recommend not bringing your family here. read more

i was sadly disappointed with this facility. The room was very dirty and the stench so bad , I had to visit my friend either in the lobby or outside! i don't know why they didn't clean the bathroom!? i thought they were suppose to wash the clothes also? This place is fine. Apart from the occasional rude or incompetent staff member, everyone is pretty good and usually very nice. I've had run ins with people here--that shouldn't be working at a care facility EVER. So don't get me wrong, it could be better, but it could be a lot worse. My father in law likes it, so that's all that matters. It's a safe comfortable place. It's more the fault of our society that certain caregivers are lowlifes, not at all because they're not paid enough. Someone shouldn't have to pay you more, not to be a schmuck. read more

It was a gut-wrenching experience to move our parents from their beautiful home on the lake to Windchime. We were immediately struck with the friendliness of the staff, the compassion they exhibit as they care for the elderly residents, and the fact that we haven't really seen any staff "turnover" in the past year-really says something. I wish I could list each one of the staff members who have touched my parents in some way-but from our observation, 100% of them, including the kitchen crew and the cleaning staff, have been outstanding. When I was recently visiting my dad, a young man, Nicholas, who was his caregiver for the day, came in with a big smile-so happy to see my dad. He went over and hugged him, and was so kind and loving-that's a happy memory that I took back home with me (across the country). Daddy's not only cared for, he's loved! When my mom died, 2 weeks ago, the staff rallied around us and we shared hugs and stories. They seemed to know just what to say-which was just what we needed. I tell my dad frequently, that the very best gift he's ever given me, was the decision to move to Windchime. read more

Every one there is really nice, and devoted to what they do. They treat the residents with respect. The food is great, and they work with folks on making sure they get what they like to eat. Over the last couple years, there were many changes in administrators, nurses, and staff and it was apparent that they have tightened their purse strings. It's not as clean as it once was, and it's easy to see that the care providers are stretched more than they used to be. Overall, they do a good job. It pays to be "present" to make sure your loved one gets what they need. Otherwise, sometimes things fall through the cracks. read more

My cousin's review was censored, probably because she gave 1 star so I will give 2 hoping that my review will actually end up on Yelp. I cannot recommend this facility. Six years ago, I would have sang the praises of the staff and management but not now. Cost cutting, overworked employees, high turnover, and poor care are just a few of the issues that I have observed over the past year. While some of the staff should be applauded for their work ethic and determination, the majority of the staff is fairly new (turnover) and very young. With 15 years of healthcare experience and what I have seen in recent months is disturbing. Caregivers and med techs who are too busy to interact with the residents and administrative staff who spends time hanging out in offices and smoking outside. I could go on, but I won't. Just avoid this facility. Simple as that. Wish we would have moved my grandfather 2 years ago when he was open to the idea. read more

Windchime took care of both of my parents for several years--one in each wing of the facility. We were completely satisfied. The staff is very caring, warm, professional, efficient, patient. . . superlative! There are plenty of activities for the residents. The building is very clean and well-maintained. This is the best possible final earthly home. read more

Our family member has lived here for several years and the only reason we still pay for this place is because he does not want to move again in his 'old age' and because change is hard on him. At first glance it appears to have a caring staff ad administration and that used to be the case. However in the past two years care has taken a nose dive and the administration has done nothing to address these issues. We have seen long term residents of 6 and 7 years leave for a new location simply due to poor care, lack of trained staff, and inappropriate/dismissive attitudes. Seniors deserve our respect which is not the focus at Windchime. The focus is on money and for the most expensive assisted living facility in Chico ($5000 per month) one would expect excellent care. Sadly that is not the case here. We make it a point to e in the building at least 2-3 times per week not to only visit with our family member but to make sure that we do why the administration does not... Make sure that our family member gets the care that he deserves. Do yourself and your loved one a favor. Do not choose Windchime for assisted living or dementia care. Your love one will receive sub standard care and you will regret your decision. read more
