Her initial prescription was ordered by his cooperating pharmacy on the east coast. 2 click pens were paid for (per my call to that pharmacy) but I was only given 1, yet paid for 2, later the 2nd was "given to me as a courtesy". The estimate was lowered from $610 to just under $200 for shots and weight, no exam. My little girl was howling and hissing after being manhandled. The building is deteriorating, walkway broken up with lots of debris, lots of scratches and chips in exam rooms, lots of overpriced "products" for sale, staff is harried and seemingly overwhelmed. We are moving on.

Dr. Ken has now been daisy's vet for the past three years and I can't say enough about the exceptional care they have provided to her! From the friendly office staff, to getting her in for emergency appointments... they even have cat boarding and a cat gym! They also offer "cats night out" events where your cat can socialize with other cats and you can learn information on how to better care for your pet. And to top everything off, Dr. Ken is one of those veterinarians that paddle boards and home brews. Can't beat that-- I wouldn't go anywhere else!

I am extremely disappointed with our experience with UW Veterinary Care Emergency. Our cat was…read morehospitalized for a urinary obstruction, and I spent thousands of dollars on his care. At discharge, we were specifically told that imaging showed multiple bladder stones, including a larger stone around 0.5 cm, and that these stones put him at risk of another obstruction. Surgery (cystotomy) was discussed/recommended, so I scheduled surgery with our regular veterinarian. Six days later, my veterinarian took TWO sets of X-rays before surgery and found no stones in his bladder or kidneys. Thankfully, they did not proceed with an unnecessary surgery. I contacted UW because I wanted a meaningful explanation for how there could be such a significant discrepancy in imaging only six days apart. I was also concerned because there were multiple cats being treated for similar urinary issues while mine was hospitalized, and I wanted reassurance that the imaging attributed to my cat was unquestionably his. Instead of receiving a satisfactory explanation or any meaningful review of what happened, I was essentially told that "that's medicine." I understand that medicine is not an exact science and that outcomes and findings can change. What I do not accept is dismissing a legitimate concern involving thousands of dollars, a diagnosis of multiple stones, and a recommendation that could have resulted in my cat undergoing surgery. I expected UW Veterinary Care, as a major veterinary teaching hospital, to take this discrepancy seriously, review the imaging and records carefully, and provide a clear medical explanation. I am grateful my regular veterinarian repeated the imaging before operating. This experience has left me with serious concerns about the communication and accountability surrounding my cat's care.

I asked her to call me back when she connected to her system, and I hung up. I was not rude or mean appropriate in any way. I will find a vet who is concerned about providing efficient, well trained staff, not lecturing clients about who to act when such service is not provided. Find a vet who is professional and friendly to take care of your pets, not someone looking for a confrontation over nothing. Huge red flag here.
