I had a great first experience here with Dr. Schwarz. I wanted to switch to a different veterinarian who has knowledge on geriatric care for dogs. After some researching and reading through Yelp reviews, I decided to try out Odyssey! My 11.5 year old beagle has been showing signs of cognitive decline, so I wanted to take her in. She also has been itching herself bald. Dr. Schwarz was very thorough, tested her skin for any issues, and determined that there was nothing irritating the skin, so she sent us home with antibiotics and anti-itch for starters. I loved that she sent a thorough email after the visit which included a questionnaire to assess whether my dog is experiencing cognitive decline. The vet technicians were super nice and good at listening to all our concerns.

My fur baby waiting patiently for his turn since we showed up 30 minutes before our appointment.. They let us hang in the fenced in area

Amazing service and follow up. Exeptional care for our two Bichon puppies and our twelve year old toy poodle.

Today my girl needed to get some care for a hot spot that popped up yesterday and grew so quickly…read more The staff was very attentive to my messages and were able to squeeze her in. Dr Sarah cleaned it up, discussed options and what she recommended. When she had a problem a week ago with her GI tract, they were responsive in helping me with that as well. Dr. Jacki prescribed meds and listened to what Payton has taken before. She was very understanding about the fact that Payton is a thin girl and simply does not gain weight.....no judging (when we went for our initial check up). She also saw our cat, Sylvie, for a wellness check and meds. Sylvie can be a bit of a queen at times, but the staff said she was good. Last fall, my guy was not doing well, I wanted to let him be pain free without having to prove he was ready....I knew. We moved here not all that long ago and I was looking for a good fit for us. I called True Vet, explained what was going on and what I felt. They were so understanding. When we arrived they had all the treats he could ever want, but could or should not have. He was in heaven eating them. Dr Amelia was patient and listened to me babble on about my guy. I truly can not say enough about how wonderful the doctors and staff are. I never thought I would find a clinic like we had before moving to the Madison area.

Dr. Sarah educated…read moreme about the diagnosis and informed me of options for treatment - including cost - prior to proceeding on a plan. I was contacted by staff after every treatment to make sure my dog was doing ok. All staff are friendly, professional, compassionate and thorough. AND they always have chocolate at the reception desk. Highly recommend!!

We have three cats and have happily spent four years as patients/customers at A Breed Apart…read more I should say, I am a helicopter cat mom. I've read books, I'm always learning about cat history, behavior, quirks, etc. People know me as the crazy cat lady and I am a hovercraft when it comes to my cat's health. When we first adopted a cat in 2016, we lived off Gammon, so A Breed Apart just made sense. The doctors were kind and friendly. Then we got a kitten in 2017 and put both the cats on ASPCA insurance just in case. Both were adopted from shelters, so they were spayed already, but the staff at ABA has always helped us with vaccinations, check ups, strange bouts of vomiting and micro chipping. Dr. Meyers and Dr. Vanderloo are our favorites along with Julie and Chris our usual vet techs. Then in 2019, we ended up with a kitten by accident and despite having moved across town to central/East Madison, you bet we still make the drive to our vets at A Breed Apart. We had to go through the spaying process for the first time this past December and I was terrified. The vet techs here are just awesome and they dealt with my crazy mom nerves and helped calm both me and our kitten. They took her all day and did the surgery, called me and only ~$210 later, I had a fixed kitty. We came back 10 days later for stitch removal for free -- I was surprised at how easy they made the whole thing. Then there was a rough week when our first born was diagnosed with kidney issues/renal disease. I was crushed and terrified to hear that one of our kids was sick and not doing well. Dr. Vanderloo was so awesome about everything -- she had a great attitude and kept us (me) calm. She helped us put our cat on specialty prescription food and has extended our cat's life for sure. We are proud to be an ABA family and will continue to be as long as we live in Madison.

If I could give 10 stars, I would. The saying on their website: "we know your pets are family, we…read moretreat them that way" couldn't be more accurate. I took my sweet boxer Charlee here for the past 3 years and the care she received from day one was beyond incredible. While Charlee was easy to love, she had a lot of medical needs and the entire team was there not just to treat her, but to love and care for her as if she were their own. The entire team was incredible throughout and provided wonderful service, but a very special thanks and recommendation to Dr. Kate Waushabaugh and Georgia who went above and beyond for Charlee, and myself. Charlee was in the best hands...from routine care, emergencies and up to the point to when she fell asleep in this world. I trusted their care, their opinion, their service. Their primary goal is to give the best care possible and so it never felt transactional, insensitive or for profit. Dr. Kate spent countless hours with me talking, researching and extending kindness that I'm sure I can't ever repay just to give Charlee the best possible care - however we got there. Even when it came time to say goodbye, Dr. Kate stayed with us, and then walked us out without ever blinking an eye about the details. That kind of peace of mind she provided is priceless. I can't say the same for other places in the area, hence this review. There is no other place I would have trusted more with my most loved pet , and will continue to do so in the future as well. I would recommend A Breed Apart and their entire staff to anyone that is ever looking for the best, honest, thorough and beyond loving care for their furry family member.
